  2. I decided to finally get these 99s after being ~50k away from them both for 5-6 months. I had planned to get 99 Thieving additionally, but I burned myself out at Pyramid Plunder quite awhile ago after achieving 97, and I realized that I probably won't be able to make myself go back any time soon. Heh, I didn't even have a party to celebrate these--something else I had wanted to do. :( [hide=Crafting] [/hide] [hide=Defence] [/hide] Crafting was the result of two(?) years of daily battlestaff-crafting and the occasional use of SC needles in more recent times; Defense was achieved primarily through Slaying.
  3. He doesn't specifically mention the word "unfair," but it's implied when he mentions that he shouldn't have to frequent the clan chats of Jmods and visit Twitter to obtain leaked information, since he doesn't like using them. For the record, I do think it's unfair (read: bs) that certain Jmods are able to discuss future updates in their chats--that crosses the line. Anyway, I can agree that the hints should be posted in the RSOF as well, but I still can't imagine why anyone would prefer to read them there. :?
  4. How does his not wanting to go to another site other than Runescape to find out about Runescape updates make him a jackass? I'm in favour of some of the ideas posted on that thread as I personally don't like or use twitter. If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't find out about any of these Twitter posts. I don't honestly see the problem with Jagex using Twitter; it's not as if it's some shady site which could potentially infect your computer. You don't even need to register an account to view the tweets, and checking for updates takes less than a minute with the current setup. They could post hints in the RSOF, to keep everything on their site, but does that sound appealing to you? I certainly wouldn't want to have to trawl through the official forums for a small bit of information; Twitter is simply a much more convenient outlet. You'll have to explain to me how posting tweets instead of obscure RSOF posts is "unfair," as I can't understand why that would be. I suggest favouriting the OfficialJagex page for those that haven't, by the way.
  5. We do not list each herb individually in the Bestiary drop lists. You will note that the list for this monster shows "Herbs". That includes the ranarr. Thanks for wanting to help.

  7. The new monster has been added. Thanks for bringing this to our attention; you've been credited in the entry for your efforts. :) http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?r ... er_id=1334
  8. It almost goes without saying that I'll change my name. "Blackknife57" Pfft. :P I made an account to reserve the name "Rien Adelric" years ago hoping that this update would one day be released, so I'm certainly looking forward to it.
  9. 'Looks good to me. :) Before I add this to the bestiary entry, I'll kill some highwaymen for a bit to see if I can't improve on SG's estimate. You can probably expect the drop information to be up sometime in the evening; I'll make another post here to keep you informed. Thanks for your help. Both you and SportsGuy will be credited.
  10. As Wisse said, we already mention this in the bestiary entry. Thanks for your consideration, though. :)
  11. Trust them, White Dragons don't exist and certainly won't be released sometime in the future. *wink* Anyway, I'm pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of questions they've answered and how definitively they've done so. I applaud their efforts. =D>

  13. :wall: I can practically guarantee that TB will have as few dedicated players as ever within the next two weeks; by then, the flood of people who've come to exploit the recent price reductions (not that I can blame them) will have purchased the rewards they're interested in keeping and have left. This is the first update in quite awhile that I've completely disagreed with, as it royally screws over the few dedicated players of the mingame while offering no long-term benefits in return. I was previously in favour of reducing the prices of the rewards by as much as half of their original values, but only on the condition that the "buckets of water" abuse would be put to an end. I can remember suggesting on the RSOF, at one point, to implement a cap of 100 items for each ingredient that could be held by the hoppers at any one time, but nothing came of it (it's perfectly reasonable, to be honest, since the boilers have a cap of 10 logs which can be held at once, and implementing the change would solve the problem of having players abandon necessary tasks to max out the bonus incentive). If this had been done, TB would have been much more enjoyable while still being balanced. However, Jagex decided to nerf the prices to hell without considering the consequences or even bothering to make a relatively simple addition to improve gameplay while they were at it. Sure, they'll get away with what they've done, but only because the loyal TB player-base is so small. If they had attempted to pull this crap with Castle Wars, you can be sure that an incredible number of players would be up in arms about it, and they'd be more or less forced to take it back. Change is inevitable, yes, I understand. The game will inevitably become easier as time goes on and better/more efficient methods to play are released. However, Jagex crossed the line with this update, and the sad part is that so few people I've talked to even care. Seriously, nerfing the TB rewards to 1/10th of their previous value? What the hell? They've doomed Trouble Brewing to perpetual insignificance; players can now obtain all of the rewards offered within a day or two and completely forget about it afterward. It has truly joined the ranks of the "dead" minigames with this, and I can't even begin to describe what a shame that is to me. :|
  14. This is good to hear. Hopefully, we'll be seeing the quest before the end of September. :)
  15. Hah, my phasmatys flag means nothing now. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Figuratively, of course.
  16. You can get an extra set if you store your first in a POH. It won't work if you just leave the set in the bank.
  17. For those wondering, I believe the TB nerf was a hidden update meant to coincide with the main update, since I can't find the change being mentioned anywhere either. :| At least I'll be able to buy "the stuff" ridiculously cheaply now, I suppose. I enjoy brewing; it's a bit strange, I know.
  18. I love this update so far; everything looks great (for the most part). As a Crewbie, though, the slight graphical changes made to all of the items ingame will be a nightmare, as our items database may now be completely outdated. Also, I wish Jagex hadn't reduced the prices of the TB rewards so dramatically. I spent quite a bit of time playing the minigame in the past, but now anyone can purchase even the upper-level rewards (the phasmatys flag, for example) after only a few games. I wouldn't have particularly cared if the prices had been reduced by a reasonable amount, but the current prices are 1/10th of what they were previously. I really don't even know what to say... :|
  19. Heya. :) The list was meant to be a summary, but we decided to expand it a bit, upon review. You'll find that the reward table has been tweaked, and that a short section beneath has been added outlining the miscellaneous items available in the chests. Thanks for bringing this to our attention; it certainly needed the update! We've credited you in the guide, by the way. 'Cheers. :
  20. Pfft. Modship is overrated; you should have considered joining us on the Purple Side. :P Anyway, thanks once again! Your pictures have been uploaded into their respective entries, and I've credited you for them. 'Cheers. :)
  21. I've confirmed your submission and have edited in the correct value. You've been credited on the page, as well. :) Thanks so much.
  22. [hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] We obviously view "safety" differently, then. I can understand substituting certain pieces of expensive gear for other, relatively inexpensive (albeit, less-effective) items; that's basic, precautionary harm-mitigation. However, I believe there's a point at which this actually becomes dangerous to practice when done excessively. This can be seen in my earlier KBD example, where black dragonhide armour and a d long are the lowest-level items listed under "recommended items." Does it mean, because they are the lowest listed, that equipping gear of even lesser value and utility will automatically mean a likely death? I'd say it doesn't; it simply means that it could be dangerous to use anything less, so we don't feel comfortable listing, say, green dragonhide armour and a rune scimitar. I'm sure there are enterprising players who may be able to take on the KBD or other boss monsters with sub-par equipment, but, because this isn't the case with the majority of players, we feel the need to draw the line somewhere (in the above case, at black d'hide and dragon weapons). I honestly don't understand how you've come to decide that we're being "elitist" by doing so; I see it as being cautious. :| We'll have to agree to disagree here. The barrow sets are fairly cheap to repair at a POH, and they can make a significant, positive difference when used at boss monsters over time. Needless to say, if a player only uses their sets at boss monsters and leaves something like a rune set for everyday monsters, then the cost of repairs practically becomes negligable, as 15 hours of combat at any boss monster will generally yield a large profit which will easily cover the costs plus some. I agree with this. Barrow sets, and, in particular, Guthan's, should never be mentioned as part of a minimum set-up. If you can point me to which guide(s) do this, I'll be happy to have them corrected. That does cross the line, and I wouldn't want for anyone to get the wrong impression.[/hide]
  23. I suppose I'll weigh in on this issue, and, hopefully, I'll be able to make some clarifications. :) For regular monsters listed in the bestiary, we'll generally mention the recommended gear/attack style and strategy to use, but only if the monsters in question deviate from the norm in some way (I know this is similar to what you said). The majority of monsters present in RS only have a melee-style attack, so we won't write this into the bestiary entry of every monster this applies to. If, however, a monster uses varying forms of attacks, you can be sure that we'll include the relevant information in the notes section of that particular entry; basically, you should assume that every monster listed in the bestiary will only use melee attacks (and so melee armour should be worn in combat) unless otherwise stated. The Bloodveld entry is a prime example of this; since bloodvelds use a mage-based melee attack, we mention this and recommend equipping dragonhide armour while fighting them. We also name the appropriate protection prayer to use and make a reference to the existence of nearby safe-spots for convenience. As for the purely melee monsters, we leave it to our users to determine what armours and weapons they should bring to the fight. We list each monster's combat level, health points, and location in the bestiary entries, so it's a judgement call for players on whether or not they should attempt to fight a certain monster based on the information provided (hopefully, players should realize that fighting high-level monsters at a low combat level themselves is foolish). In general, though, it always pays to go prepared, regardless; if you're not sure how you'll fare against a monster, bring the best gear you're willing to lose in addition to food and a one-click teleport. It's true that many monsters appear to use particular melee attack styles (e.g. slash, stab, crush), but unless we can find definitive proof and we deem it to be important information, we won't speculate and potentially mislead our users by including the information. Appearances can be deceiving, so we never trust in common sense in regard to this issue unless Jagex confirms our suspicions (truly a rare occurence). :P [hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] I'd say that Monster Hunting isn't suitable for all players, so we shouldn't necessarily be constrained to listing equipment available to everyone. We realize that not everyone can afford/use the best armours and weapons in the game, so we try to be reasonable. I suppose it comes down to a matter of opinion, but I think gear such as the barrows armours is a fair standard to reference; they're relatively cheap in relation their effectiveness, and they only have middling requirements to equip. I can agree with you on showing other (extraneous, imo) items such a furies and the like, but it's not as if we don't list lower-level gear in addition to the upper-level stuff. Here's an example. The minimum gear mentioned here includes black dragonhide armour and a dragon longsword; really, using anything much worse than these against the KBD wouldn't be worth the risk or the trouble, but again, it comes down to a matter of opinion. I believe most of the players who read our monster hunting guides are looking to optimize their performance while monster hunting (rather than just barely scrape by with minimal supplies), so that's probably why our guide writers fashion the guides the way they do. ----- I'm open to everyone's thoughts, whatever their views. Changes can be made to these guides, if necessary, so don't be afraid to speak your mind. Naming specific examples of problematic bestiary entries/mh'ing guides would be most helpful, as we're always looking to improve our material. 'Cheers. :[/hide]
  24. I don't slay too often, so this came as a surprise. :) *EDIT* I finished my slayer task: I'm glad I finally completed this task; I think I've had it for about a month or so.
