The only sitcom I ever liked at all was Friends - and even then that's mostly from watching the DVDs recently. Two and a half men is just annoying, but How I met your mother has it's moments(from the little I've seen of it)

Wait...you took a tour, of a famous building, filled with priceless art...and you had to pay an admission fee? Unheard of. After all, the cost of maintaining such a thing is so low they should let everyone in for free. I know of wealthy people who have given their estates to the government, and corporations, but you don't tell them how to spend the money. Art galleries are privately run business - as in fact is that element of the church when talking about their display of art. JP2 never had any money - he became a priest at a young age and never saved. The church paid for everything he needed to do his job - other than that he owned nothing more than the clothes he wore (and not even the official ones at that). I'd like to see you do a job making no pay for 30 years and be content to never possess anything more than clothes. You're exhibiting a commonly found syndrome in society that likes to blame the church for everything and suggest that they fix everything - while I'll be the first to admit the institution is far from perfect this is frankly unfair. Do you donate money to charity? Do you go on social work projects to underdeveloped countries to make a difference? I somehow doubt it. The buildings were designed to collapse inwards on themselves, as makes sense given their location. This actually saved hundreds if not thousands of lives. Hundreds of physics models have proven this was the normal way for them to collapse. The plane that hit the pentagon disintegrated? Untrue. They found a huge number of plane parts at the location, including dead bodies. For every person looking for their moment of fame willing to say some [cabbage] for a movie for their moment of fame, there are hundreds of others who can testify otherwise. This conspiracy is far fetched, there's no avoiding that. People want to think conspiracies are true, that's exactly why poorly constructed garbage like these movies so easily preys on the mind of those who don't really want to know - they just want to be told. Ironic, considering the supposed purpose of the films.

Why not make every employee a CEO? Why not make every army private a general? Why not make every extra a movie star? -
I'm curious to hear what about society you find to be "idiotic" and what surefire methods you have of improving these things. Well, just to point out one, since I was recently in Italy, the Catholic Church. They have so much wealth amassed that it's mind blowing. Instead of hoarding it like they've been doing, why not use it to, say, end world hunger, promote worldwide literacy, or provide medical care for underdeveloped countries. I've been a Catholic all my life, but there are things about the Church itself that I just don't agree with. This wealth you speak of, where is it exactly? Did you know Pope John Paul the Second died with exactly $0 to his name, and he once gave his papal ring to the mayor of a town in Brazil because he felt so helpless seeing their poverty? I'll assume you're talking about the "priceless art" in which case I question why you think the church should sell their art off to end poverty, yet you don't demand the same thing of art galleries all over the world. In fact, there are thousands of agencies sponsored by the Catholic Church with an anti-poverty focus - some of them by the Vatican directly, others by subsidiaries - for example Share Life.

I have watched the original, and was highly unimpressed - basically every assertion made could be disproved by anyone with access to wikipedia.

I'm assuming the new OS you've obtained is 64 bit?

[LikelyScam] extensions had a bad rep in the early 00's for being used by a lot of phishing sites etc, but recently I believe .com and .net have become more widely used for that and [LikelyScam] isn't significantly worse than any other extension.

Need skill calc for clan web site
obfuscator replied to Halt2015's topic in Programming and Web Design
There is an openly available combat calculator formula some where (pre summoning) I remember seeing it...it was pretty complicated. I don't think it was quite as good as tip.it's though, as it was as much as .5 of a level off when I tested it. But for the skill calculators, you wouldn't really need a formula. EDIT: This page has some formulas: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Combat_level -
Stellar Tips - where we reach for the stars ;) I personally would like to think tip.it will become involved as a SD helpsite in some way - although I do agree if it is to be done it should be done properly. Bear in mind, however, that SD is supposed to appeal to a different audience - so there may be many people looking for a fansite (who would make good SD crew) who have little or no interest in Runescape. There are also people who have retired from RS who would be looking into playing SD, and while not being suitable crew for the RS site due to being retired, might be good SD crew candidates.

If you're not looking to get into server side scripting you can test/play around on your own machine. Even then if you want to do server side scripting it's not that difficult to set up an apache installation.

Same, it also seems like the arrow doesn't even make the images move, and it's mousing over to the next one that does it. I'd make the menu items on the top left more prominent as well, they're very hard to see. Definitely getting better though :)

Facial expression is the same too :P

It's really up to you, but you should start running heroics for badge gear, doing weeklies etc. Once your gear gets a bit better you may be able to start getting int toc, voa, and icc, which you should then do for gear. Or just pvp.

If he wanted to showcase FX, and had 10 years to do so, he could have written a far better story then what he did.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
obfuscator replied to Da_Latios's topic in Off-Topic
If she ever offers a date idea, that's the easiest way to approach. If not, a straight ask is the best way. It'll be better to start out small, though - ice cream or something. After a steak dinner isn't the best time to say hey, you pay. So just straight out ask (something along the lines of), "hey do you mind if we start splitting the bill?" I think open communication is the best way usually. But it just seems a little strange to ask. Explain your reasoning - going with: "I want us to be equal in this relationship" and "I don't want you to feel like you owe me anything" are probably good things to say. -

Don't say it like that then - tell her the truth. Say: "i really like texting you, but because of the distance it's costing a lot, do you mind if we stop?" -

Be honest. I hate to be blunt, but if that offends her she's not worth being in a relationship with anyway. That said - sending a text or two a day wouldn't go amiss. -
I wouldn't say that's entirely true. For example I didn't really like Clash of the Titans at all. The CGI was amazing, as was the action, but I thought the movie itself was just meh. Yes Avatar was average at best, but in my opinion it was a world better than movies like Clash, and combine that with he best damned CGI experience I've ever seen and it becomes a hell of a movie. Yeah CGI isn't everything but neither is plot. I guess it's just more important to some than others. From what I've heard of clash (haven't seen it personally) the CGI wasn't that great. Bottom line here is that some people care more about the artistic quality a movie possesses, thus these cinema critics, as it were, find it harder to appreciate a movie with large negative qualities. I agree, plot isn't everything, but it is a critical component, and I can't bring myself to call a movie with a bad plot "good". Entertaining - perhaps. But entertaining and a genuine, quality movie are two different things. All movies are made to entertain - for example I found "attack of the clones" entertaining but the general consensus among the movie-going public is that it's the worst star wars movie out there, and I agree,
-
This this this. The CGI was phenomenal - every single person who worked on it 100% deserved the oscar they got. The rest of the movie was subpar at best.
-
It's hard to do so when we see stuff like avatar make the money it did - it goes to show that the majority of moviegoers care only for a cheap thrill, rather than a quality piece of cinema. I don't think it makes anyone less intelligent...but there are some pretty [cabbage]ty movies around that the average moviegoer would call amazing, and that's quite unfortunate.

Wasnt on the server I was on last night. my god, and they wondered why we lost? 10 people: 6 Engis, 3 Spies and a Pyro (me) You had a pyro on your team. There's your problem. Personally, I've found that all-medic teams tend to be highly successful on all maps and game types.

Well, stupid, that might be a bit too much (a lot of people probably are, though). Let's keep it at that those people generally don't have much understanding of movies (note how movies comes from movement, something Nolan doesn't seem to be very comfortable with). I haven't seen much movies the last two/three months, but some highlights were "A Star is Born", "Basic Instinct", "Make way for tomorrow", "De Vierde Man" and "Le Mépris". Most people said that they liked this movie, but to be honest, I haven't seen or heard a single decent reason why I should like this movie. Let alone why this should be a "masterpiece". I do have to agree that just because many people like a movie doesn't make it "good". While I wouldn't call Inception an "amazing" movie, nor one of the very best I've seen, I do consider it to be a good movie, for several reasons. Visually: Impressive, effects wise. I also liked the set designs and shooting style - I found many of the sets had a new take on what was old and while not being anything "new" per se, they kept things interesting. Acting: I didn't see a single bad actor in the entire film. Granted, the female characters were somewhat one-dimensional but that's never been Chris Nolan's strong point(dark knight??) and I do think Mal's character was one-dimensional deliberately, to show that she was only a shallow construction of Cobb's mind. Ellen Paige's character could have been a bit more interesting however. The Idea: While the concept of dreaming and manipulation of such is far from groundbreaking, the thought put into the construction of the plot was far more than what goes into most movies - it was intricate but not so much so that it wasn't understandable.

It's either 19 or 21 depending on the state I think. I don't live there though so I could be wrong.
