New skill concepts.
Seems to me that the best skills incorparate other skills to get the best/cheapest results but also give the player freedom as to how they want to train that skill. Slayer is popular imo as you have a range of masters, locations, and different tactics/combat styles to use, Firemaking on the other hand seems boring to many people as the basics of the skill is just to burn the best log you can as much as possible (granted there are better ways to train, but they are often over looked) A good skill in my opinion would involve several other skills are primary skills to supply a new secondary skill. After that though I sort of run out of ideas.

Oh how I miss you BTS...
Damn, I didnt even realise they got rid of BTS (I just thought they had been slow this month #-o ) Well as long as the DD are regular enough It shouldn't matter to much, even if it was nice to see all the coming updates before they came out, helped me decide whether to keep P2P or not.

Tip.It Times: 1 Mar 2009 - NEW ARTICLE ADDED
Not sure I agree with the going solo article, while group questing is no doubt fun, I think that the the shift in game play to segragate players from each other during quests is to designed to build suspense and increase how involved you are in the story. Personal I would have ruined it for me if as I completed WGS there was some random guy standing next to me. The idea was that you where the first person to see the stone in years and if anither person (even a friend) was standing next to me it would have ruined the moment imo, but I guess im one of the type of people to get deeply involved in questlines which I understand doesnt interest everyone. The quests such as The sheild of arrav and the heroes quests make sense to have other players involved. Its a good way of doing things and gets players to make friendships (regardless of how short term) as there put into the context of being told you need help during the quest. When i still had a large group of friends in game the best ways I found to interact where the minigames and just general hanging around. Most of my friends thought questing was an inconvenice and only group quested when they were stuck.

The crash code - µ
[hide=World crash quote chain] The code only crashes the people who are around the public chat area or clan chat of the person who entered the code. It's not the whole world. Ok thanks, So anyone know why whole worlds are offline? I would assume because so many people were using it something went wrong and they had to take the world down. Those worlds? [/hide]Looks like this is unrelated then, So I presume this Glitch/Bug came with the latest update?

Swing and a miss...
Ye I had to do a double take when I saw They'd placed the portal in Edgeville. It could have atleast been near the west coast, maybe by the Pictaris Hunting area. In fact anything up in that region would be nice.

So wait, other people are saying/using said sequence and then only the people who see/read the code are crashing or is it the whole world or what?

The Balance Elemental
That is bizarre, I cant remember anything from that fight when I did it, I was too busy concentrating on switching my prayers. Tbh I thought it was just random nonsense like Melzar. Maybe more will revealed in WGS 2 or what ever quest follows it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it just gets forgotten and left.

02-February-2009 Behind The Scenes - February
No quest, Bad Times  Fixing Randoms, Good times  The best thing this month for me seems to be the fact Jagex have actually fixed randoms. They didn't just sweep them under the rug and delete them, or just forget they made a promise to fix them, they actually changed them to the extent that they have a use within the game, and listened to player feed back. I probably wont even get that much enjoyment out of the new randoms system but I think its just great to see Jagex doing something constructive with the problem.

A History of Runescape, The Other One
Thats probably closest to the mark. The history is the knowledge base may have been cannon at some point but with the twists and turns put in place to improve the games story its been revised, so now its just the knowledge your character would start out with and Npcs in game would believe. Its a nice way of doing it imo, this way Jagex can continue to shape RS as they see fit and not have to stick to an outdated story.

Story line? in runescape? no way!
I reckon one of the things that makes Rs a sucess is the lack of a storyline that connects everything. It lets people progress though the game as they like, rather than being told your motivation or cause you make your own, which I think is nice. Anyway your right as far as Rs having a pretty deep history, brings the game to life imo. Some of it may seem strange at first like the whole zaros death thing but its just beacue you may not have heard it in context and as I heard someone once say, "History is a tragedy and then a farce" I kinda wish Jagex would start some new quest chains, rather than random stand alone quests, so they could also close some of the older ones.

Shattered Sky, a work in progress
Wow, I must say that is amazing. Such a great central character and the world its set in seems so rich. Just immense, Absoluetly love it.

Redundant Messiah
Well Im sort of new to the Library, so I guess some of you will easily find flaws in my work but regardless Id love some feedback, This story was one I wrote (or began writing) a while ago and unfortunately lost steam. However I think Ill rewrite those sections which made me lose interest. What follows is the begining of the story which I felt quite pleased with, the rest however needs some serious revision and expanding on, so I'll post those at a later date if I find time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue Dark times lie ahead my boy, They always seem to with you Ahso you have sensed it too, the wind calling out, the streams flowing without rest, the night creeping silently. You speak of things that happen regardless But of course, tragedy begins with a whine not a scream So you have come all this way to preach our doom once more No like you, I have come to mourn The graveyard surrounding the two men was withered of all life and void of colour, bar the grey of the tombstones and the brown of the earth. The elderly man stood behind the young warrior with his hand on the crouching knights shoulder. I am not here to mourn and neither should you be old man said the warrior as he stood and turned to face the aging wizard. Rias is still alive; you know this to be true Then why, replied the old man grinning are you crouched over at a gravestone that stands in remembrance to no-one? Because I need your help father, to clear Rias name the warrior looked the ageing man in eye and felt shame rise through him. You sealed his fate long ago, Toldan The old man turned and began to move away. His dark robes swiftly passing between the tombstones. So you do believe he is alive after all then Toldan called after him. The old man turned to face the warrior once more I know he is, there is no thing, good or evil, in these lands that is capable of delivering death upon such a monstrosity as he, but he no long dwells here and so for the concerns of we left behind, he may as well be dead. So then tell me, old doomsayer, were does he dwell now? To the east, in the lands no man should tread, though the title of man is something that escaped your brother long ago. I will find him father and bring him back. Hmm the old man chuckled to himself, Then perhaps the doom I foresee will come to pass after all With that the old man left the graveyard silently and slipped back into the dark woods surrounding the long forgotten cemetery. Toldan, unshaken by what be heard picked up his sword and shield and stared longingly at gravestone once more. The old man was right, it did not commemorate the death of anyone, but it did stand in memory of a man who he had wronged ruthlessly and it felt like a lead weight around his neck. He would deliver his brother vengeance and right the wrongs he had caused. Slowly he stood and turned south to begin the long journey back toward Misthalin and the great city of Varrock. Chapter 1 You ought to be proud of yourself lad, Its an honour few have ever achieved. bellowed Captain Rovin, the head palace guard of Varrock castle and one of the kings most trusted and loyal friends. The king only rewards those truly worthy. Toldan felt no pride, only embarrassment, I did nothing extraordinary he protested, just my duty. Nonsense Captain Rovin said resolutely assuring him you saved the kings live, defeated fourteen Zamorakian traitors and banished the vile beast they summoned. The statement was basically true; well it was what the Misthalin subjects would be told. In reality it had taken him and twenty other Varrock palace guards to bring down the mages and in the process stop the demon being summoned. The battle had claimed the lives of seventeen guards, with the other three horrendously wounded, the thirteen Zamorak wizards had been slain and the fourteenth was to be hung today at Toldans promotion ceremony. For his bravery he had been awarded the position of Grand Protectorate and was to be assigned to protect the king of Misthalin personally. Come, said sir Rovin the ceremony will begin soon. Toldans armour felt tight against his chest, he disliked the palaces formal uniform and longed for his own armour. Although he realised his battle scared steel armour with all its scrapes and dents would look quite out of place in all the grandeur of the ceremony. He felt out of place himself, the Varrock monarchy was a world away from were he grew up. Toldan had been born and raised in Draynor; a village in the south west of Misthalin, not far from the coastline and the border to the west with Asgarnia, another kingdom in the lands of Gielinor. He had grown up there with his brother Rias, who he shared many adventures with as a boy. Brought up by his mother he had never met his father and she would never speak of him, nor would she give a reason for her silence and so eventually the boys grew tired of asking. The local village gossips claimed the boys father had come from the near by wizards tower but few in the village took much notice. The boys had a happy childhood and when they grew old enough Toldan went north to Varrock to become a solider and Rias went south to wizards tower to become an apprentice Mage. They had seen almost nothing of each other since. The only reunion they had experienced had been short but eventfully and left Toldan with a heavy heart. Toldan wished his brother was there to see him now and that he could put things right between them but he put that thought aside for the time being. It had been two weeks since his meeting in the graveyard and he had come no closer to tracking his brother down, the plot by the Zamorak wizards had not at all helped. Toldan decided it would do him no good to dwell on such thoughts and he put them aside and prepared for the ceremony. After finishing his preparations he picked up his helmet, lowered it over his head and left the castle barracks, heading toward the city centre.

Tip.It Times: 11 Jan 2009
Loving the new layout. The featured article was good as ever, the mole hunting guide (although not really something I'll apply) was interesting and the Fiction article looks it could progress into a great story. The randoms need sorting though seeming as were nearly 10 months down the road I get the feeling the idea may have been dropped, or at least put on the back burner. Not that thats terrible Id always prefer jagex to work on new content that existing function content but I guess I just like shiny things :D

Oscar Grant (police brutality)
Thats messed up in a major way, That Cop should be charged to the full extent of the law imo. Anyway as far the whole, Gun control = ease for a totalitarium/facist state to exist/come to power is just nonsence as far as I can tell. The simple fact that numerous countries, who are historically more right wing, have gun control in place and have democratic systems is a massive flaw in the whole argument. For instance if several people on that train had guns, some of which who may have knew the person who was killed, there possibly could have a fire fight and there'd be several deaths. The only real scenerio which could have resolved that situation is if the policeman didnt have a gun either.

Has Jagex Really Done All They Could?
I think someone sumed it up pretty well when they compared it to governments and crime, there are always loopholes and work arounds, so the problem continues. Hate to say it but I also kinda doubt Jagex would really do anything to stop Farmers and Autoers right now. Anything that would make an impact would have to be pretty drastic and I'm not sure they really want to do that. They solved the big problems they were having as a company, ie the credit card thefts being reduced, and drastically reduced the number of bots you see, so many people believe the problem is gone. After that I think people are relatively happy so why would they do something to upset the balance or spend alot of time and money on a proper solution.

The Jonas Brothers & Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana
Im sure I heard the jonas brothers had to go back on a statement that they liked Blink 182. Someone gave them [cabbage] that the guys from Blink promoted irresponsible behaviour or something, so they ended up having to say they only enjoyed the music and didnt pay attention to what else they did. Hell the saddest thing is sooner or later the jonas brothers are gonna turn round and realise that their just hollow corporate shells, and just feel like massive [bleep]s. That is if they actually have a slight concept of self respect/conscience, or can you sell those to Disney too, nowadays? Anyway I guess it won't matter to them once their rolling round on a bed of money and developed a quickly escillating recreation drug habit once the whole music/soul selling gig is up. Wow, I cant believe I have such an opinion about them. Until now I thought it was just my usual unbiased digust of pop culture.

Your Epic Battle Music.
Gotta love a bit of Prodigy Im not sure I can think of three songs that compliment each other well enough so I guess I'd just use Serial Thriller by Prodigy for all it. I love that song, makes me go hyper.

Full Dragon owns People are just dumb
Well if you really want to boil it down to stats its like 20 mil for bandos vs 50 mil for full dragon and less than 3 mil for barrows. Really its illogical to get anything other than barrows when you boil it down but people place a high value on looks and availability. Is really what im trying to say. You are right about idiots assuming its underpowered just because its dragon though,

{{A Very Difficult Question}}
Just give Jeff a [bleep]ing chance, the boy just wants to live! Anyway, pretty complex issue and boiling it down to right/wrong, yes/no kinda cheapens it imo. If i were put in the situation with just the information you've given, then Id have the baby to save Jeffs live.

Runescape on Xbox Live/PS3 online?
Thank God. It was starting to think i was the only one who had heard about this (or imagined it) So technically Rs can be run off a PS3 right now, I think. As far as i can tell you need to install Linux in your PS3 and then install Java and your pretty much set and ready to go. Cant say I've tried it, or know anybody who has, but the theorys sound and I've heard rumours of it being done.

tzhaars linked to zaros?
How the [bleep] in the sweet name of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is that evidence? Its barely even the same shape. I mean C'mon, theres wild speculation and just plain bull [cabbage]. mister_moocky's picture is awesome, made me lol.
