  1. Well I guess I can't complain, but had to eat 2 pizzas to pick them up
  2. Ehm another question, is there a way you can predict their attack style without having your sounds on? I found uni doesn't keep up if I just randomly choose a protection prayer when they switch attacks.
  3. Hi, I kinda want to try soloing zilyana again, last did it before the room update with lower stats and stuff so would like to try again. I got a few questions though. Is there an important difference between solo armadyl and solo sara regarding gear and inventory, except for wearing verac skirt instead of karil skirt? About how many sweets would I use per kill with 87 agility? Is it even worth it to use sweets or would I be better off with tbird? Any other tips? Stats if you want to know: 95 melee/mage/range, 99 hp/pray/summ and access to overloads/most gear. Thanks in advance
  4. Farming of course, 18.3m xp now and only toadflax herb runs since 15m. Highest ranked skills are farming at ~600 and summoning at ~1200.
  5. Sounds awesome. I got the exact same mouse as you, and I never thought of setting programmable buttons to f keys. F keys themselves are intuitive as it is, but I'm totally going to try setting my mouse buttons as f keys. Also remapped f8/f9 to 2/5 numpad keys, works pretty well with mousekeys. But yeah, this might be total overkill for rs.
  6. I don't agree with those two statements. Herbs are either all done or there's 1/2/3/4 patches that are not done yet, and those won't suddenly grow a few minutes later; it takes another full growth cycle (or multiple growth cycles to get to the next stage) for them to grow. Also, I think supercompost doesn't reduce the amount of growth cycles - the amount stays the same, but supercompost changes the chances on what happens during the growth cycles: growth/next cycle, disease, and possible cure itself from disease or a 'do nothing' option. Erm the second bit fair enough. But the first bit you have AGREED with what I stated. I said its a myth that wrong planting time slows you down. What slows you down is disease making you lose cycles; if you read my post further you will see I clarify that it seems disease resets you to the start of a growth stage. Which is exactly what you have said. No I meant you can also plant a seed halfway into a growth cycle, it will take half a growth cycle until it grows. If you had planted it at the end of that very same growth cycle, it would take less time for the plant to grow for the first time. This is also what sometimes makes your herbs not finish growing all at the same time, you just planted the first few herbs in a different growth cycle than the last few. I don't think this has anything to do with disease, of course that's a factor too and it probably resets growth cycles too, but it's not the only factor.
  7. Also, I'd like to add that, from experience, growth cycles apparently reset when you log in/out (I think it's logging in). Ever been at a patch with a herb in it's final stage, logging in every 10 minutes or so to check if it's done already? It may take quite a while for the herb to finally grow if you do this, which led me to think logging in/out might reset your growth cycles. I tried it and was actually able to force a herb to stay in the final stage for over an hour. I have two theories on growth cycles; one assumes all crops have the same growth cycle length of 5 minutes, and some crops just need to complete multiple growth cycles to advance to the next stage. Another theory is that all crops have their own growth cycle of 5/20/240 minutes etc. Either way requires a small chance of a plant curing itself from disease, since sometimes all herbs will be grown and harvestable but one of them will be stuck in it's 1st/2nd stage and diseased. I also believe paying the farmer to protect your crops doesn't actually remove the chance of the plant getting diseased, but rather that the farmer cures the plant if it does. This would explain significantly shorter growth times if you supercompost the crop even when you pay the farmer, as opposed to not composting at all and paying the farmer. I believe what hohto said about growth cycles is right, and that for example herbs need 3/4 growth cycles of 20/15 minutes each to fully grow - I think it's 20 minutes but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't done tests on death rates or such, but everything you compost has a death rate of 10-15% so that could mean all crops have the same chance to die.
  8. I tried this method for a bit, but didn't quite get the luring down. I wonder, if you get there and either of the 3 demons has wandered so far off you can trap them on the right side of the rock anymore, should you hop? Because I didn't even once manage to get the most western demon into the right spot, either some fail was fighting it at the entrance or it would get stuck on the wrong side of the rock. Fighting the two eastern demons demons did go pretty well even though the luring takes a little longer since you have to run all the way around the big rock, but that got messed up a few times by the western demon wandering near and getting stuck in an annoying place. Any way to fix this or do you just hop until you find a perfect empty world? Oh got them lured now, works pretty well. It just didn't manage to spot the middle north demon respawning a few times, but that takes practice I guess. In an empty world with the demons wandering around randomly the luring isn't that hard. Nice guide
  9. Iron titan is definitely worth using over geyser, as it actually speeds up your task instead of just giving a small boost. Use the scrolls as often as possible.
  10. I'm guessing a slug quest with some runecrafting update as a reward.
  11. It's a pair of Dragon Claws, I had the same glitch yesterday when I borrowed a pair. Nope was a sgs :P
  12. Not changing it, most pointless update ever imo. In the same league as the name changing update but worse.
  13. ...? .....? I agree with you in that the vast majority of players at least like a part of this update. Everyone should like the horn, no reason not to other than being stubborn. Well I dislike the horn since it is actually pretty good to use when you train agility I think, so basically they force me to either use a less efficient method or play barbarian assault. I rather like being stubborn
  14. Watch MHL say something about Nomad's Requiem... Well the last part was a joke as I kinda enjoyed nomad's requiem, but I do think some item you can use to make better videos is complete nonsense. This is a game not an editing program.
  15. What's with the machinima/clan event stuff? I hope the end of the update year isn't an excuse not to make content updates anymore. I mean, honestly, giving out an item that helps with making youtube movies and calling it an update? That's worse than a quest without storyline :P
  16. Does the staff give that 10% damage bonus too? Then it would probably worth getting.
  17. I never tried trouble brewing because I thought I would dislike it. Had to do it for some of 'the stuff' and disliked it a lot, never went back. Had to play a game of soul wars for the newest quest, had never done it before because I thought I'd dislike it and again, I thought the minigame sucked pretty hard. Same thing for temple trekking, castle wars and chompy hunting. Really, you can get to dislike a minigame by just reading guides about it. Only minigame this doesn't apply to is stealing creation, I actually rather like it but I still wouldn't be able to play more than 5-6 games in a row without getting really bored. So no unless that staff or agility/cooking xp boosts turn out to be really awesome I won't even be trying it. The whole concept of having to cooperate with people who don't even know what they're doing most of the time totally turns me off.
  18. Something with a desk, a suit, and economics/maths. Boooooring. Teaching doesn't seem so bad either, even though I'd probably be a pretty bad teacher.
  19. 29 casts per chest on average, and of those I usually waste like 2 in the tunnels too because I forget to turn off autocast surge. It's going to cost more than 15k/chest anyway unless you don't use stat boosters, but that about doubles the time in which you kill ahrim/karil and makes them do more damage too. But yeah I agree, the setup is indeed a little expensive. Especially the overloads. - Finished another 10 chest trip today, was only 10 chests because I had to sip a ppot dose in the tunnels once cause I had an unsafespottable dharok spawns and not having enough ppoints left to kill dharok after killing karil cost another 2 doses. Tunnel brothers really sucked too, had 1 torag 1 guthan 2 dharoks and 3 karils/ahrims. Total time was 59 minutes from house tab to house tab. - Finished 12 more chests, 1 hour 10 minutes total and 25.8 casts/chest on avg.
  20. When I first started doing Barrows, there seemed to be some annoying bug where if you clicked the stairs while the dude was doing his melodrama death routine, sometimes it wouldn't count the kill. Is that fixed now? I guess it has been fixed, I haven't noticed that glitch yet. I once did have to kill guthan twice though, but that was because I was standing next to the stairs and clicked on them when I thought I had killed him, he was only redbarred but I didn't have time to correct the mistake because I was so close to the stairs :P Okay so you are just maging all the way then, no salamander. Gotcha. He can do quite a bit of damage on you though. Yeah he once hit 11 on me when I decided to try and get a last hit in while at 11 hp (got down to that from 60 or something), fortunately my hp had already restored to 12 moments before he hit me :P This is the part I find a bit suspect. Trying to deal with Dharok in the tunnels using safespots and whatnot even once can really throw off your average time. Ahrim and Karil I usually deal with in the tunnels using my SGS, but they can be pretty tough as well -- especially if you are running around half dead waiting for the overload to wear off. :) And if using DDS or claws for spec the SGS is useless. Trapping dharok takes maybe 10-15 seconds, so if you get him 1/6 chests on avg that would be 2 seconds more per run. Deciding there's no safespot available and sipping a ppot dose also takes less than 10 secs. Ahrim is pretty dangerous in the tunnels yes, fortunately the only thing you have to do is live through the fight (the pizzas are for emergencies when 40-50 hp isn't enough), after that you can brew up. Karil has a lot less melee defence and will as such almost always be killed by dds specs + 2-3 whip hits. Edit: NVM, I realize you are just using the staff for the bonus, not actually on Ancients. And yeah, the 6 minutes/run go towards 7/8 fast if you don't pay full attention. It's even kind of hard to have a conversation on msn or something while doing this, so if you want to relax it might be a good idea not to aim for 6 minutes.
  21. Well, I'm certainly not going to call you a liar. Maybe you're just a lot faster at this than I am, or maybe you got lucky in terms of how far you had to run to the chests. But I have never been able to get anywhere near that speed on 12 chests in a row, and I don't know anyone else who has either. So something is definitely amiss. It would be helpful if you could explain more clearly exactly what your sequence is on each chest.. what order you to the brothers in, when you take your pots, etc. Oookay. Start on karil's hill, sip overload/ext prayer/spec rest to 75% spec bar if needed. Kill karil with turmoil/soul split and dds specs, using a max of 3 dds specs (usually wont need more) and whip if he isn't dead by then. If karil is tunnel brother, kill ahrim instead using the same method. Run to dharok, changing to mage equipment while running and setting surge to autocast. Enter tomb, kill dharok with melee pray. Try to exit as fast as you can after killing any brother, can make a 6-12 ppoint drain difference. Usually some prayer left now, use that for soul split while maging verac. Next are torag/guthan, just straightforward maging them and they wont do much damage. Next is ahrim, take a dose of spec restore if you don't have 75% spec bar or more. Kill ahrim, whip when out of dds specs. To tunnel, equip melee gear and kill crypt rats whenever you are able to attack them while advancing through the tunnels towards the chest, up to 6 kc. Can kill bloodworms too if you can't find enough crypt rats. In the maze, never use the outer tunnels unless you're forced to. Find the chest door, solve the puzzle in between hits and finish off whatever was hitting you since you probably auto retaliated like half it's health anyway. Open chest, kill brother in same way as you would normally kill him in the tomb, except ahrim/karil will have to be done without prayer. Dharok can usually be safespotted if he spawns before you get to chest, if he can't be safespotted you can either risk it or sip a dose of ppot (you have one spare dose for this occasion). Loot chest, run out of tunnels while brewing up/changing gear etc. Somewhere in the tunnels overload will run out, just make sure you don't heal over 55 hp or something before it does. Get to karil's hill and start over.
  22. I timed 1:13 for doing 12 chests (which is a lot more practical than the 13 chests you can do with the inv I posted above), starting at the moment I teleported to my house and ending when I tabbed out after chest 12. I used the windows clock so it might have been 13.5 minutes or something, but you get the point. My method is basically what bedman described, except I use dds instead of claws. I'll do another trip tomorrow or something, but I'll guarantee you I can get under 1:15 again. Also, I calculated this way to be about 28k mage xp and 14k melee xp/hour, killing crypt rats for kc whenever they spawn (bloodworms too if not enough crypt rats spawn). Once I was able to kill two karils with the same overload dose (well it ran out halfway through the 2nd), but that was due to some very lucky specs and the shortest tunnel route possible. You can solve that by only brewing in the tunnels/before karil. I spec karil with turmoil/soul split on, usually this ends the fight with me having more hp than before the fight. After that dharok, and if the hits don't suck you then have 5-20 ppoints left to use for soul split while killing verac. Usually about 60-70 hp after this. Ahrim tends to get in some hits and does like 30 damage, which conveniently places you at 30-40 hp which is perfect if you don't want the 50 hp from overload to go to waste. If it's in the low 30's you can drink 1 brew dose and have your stats restored before you even enter the tunnels. When you arrive in the tunnel, attack the first thing you see and then start looking for doors. Stuff like that all adds up, 6 mins/run is definitely possible.
  23. I already mention this in the info about the fight. Well I read this and assumed you didn't know, you might want to remove it. I found it easier to just wait for my character to run up to the right Nomad by himself, but still mention the info for those who disagree. Also, remove what? The info about the last one attacking being the real one? No I mean removing the part where you state the best thing to do is leaving auto retaliate on. All 4 Nomads hit pretty hard and since the problem most people have is a lack of space to keep food in, it would definitely be better just to attack the Nomad that attacks last.
