Agreed. It was interesting, although I have to say that that such a depressing outlook on the world is hardly sustainable.
  2. What do you mean by "work towards"? We don't really have any cities in the state that Detroit is in, but rest assured, they are working on it! The U.S. is working towards a far-right totalitarian society, whereas the U.K. is working towards a leftist totalitarian society.
  3. The battlefield of Europe, particularly the beaches of Normandy. Also, some of the Scandinavian countries, to see what Canada should work towards, and the UK, to see what we should avoid. (I've already seen the US at it's best and worst: Detroit, and Orlando.)
  4. The moral of this story is that people will believe anything if a book and their elders tell them it's true. Once more, religion is the root of evil.
  5. Dude, BBC was there for just about all night.
  6. Descending, by Lamb of God.

Brave New World was a better book, no doubt. I would say he was a superior author, Brave New World the masterpiece of an "amused Pyrrhonic aesthete". Hitchens:

No one does. PS: That was just a Family Guy reference. Get with the times man. I saw it. Didn't think it was funny, but I saw it.
  9. I would hardly call 300,000,000 small, even on a planet of almost 7 billion. And Americans have a (mostly undeserved) influence on the rest of the world, at least in terms of economics, politics and culture.
  10. In Canada some cosmetic surgery is free: my brother has scar from a car accident, and he can have it removed at any point in the next 10 years. Ambulance ride? Nothing. Stitches? Nothing. So guess what? Our van is wrecked, but in a few minutes, we're in an ambulance, and twenty minutes later my little bro is stitched up. Cost us $0.
  11. Awesome. I actually must say that I'm tired of hearing about it on the BBC. Yes, it sucks, but they will get rescued. Now, how about something on modern slavery?

I agree, but that is a pretty rare case. Many people will use that same reasoning and then throw them in the dumpster during prom night as opposed to at least putting them up for adoption. I don't understand how anyone could possibly label that abortion.

I honestly own not one of Tolkien's books. They've never been on sale, so I just borrow from the library, or from friends. I mean, at most I only read them once a year. He's dead; I don't feel his estate is owed anything. No reason to buy there, especially after the amount of money they made with the movies.
  14. OK: I live (near) Windsor ON. Look it up: it has one of the worst health-care systems in our country. Long waits, shortage of doctors, etc. Now, prompt care has been provided every time there has been a problem. Cancer, stroke, asthma, brain cyst, cuts, difficult births... I've never waited more than an hour. Ever. I have no idea where that story comes from: has anyone here ever actually been to a Canadian hospital? And even if waits were longer (as I'm sure they are if your problem isn't at all urgent) is that much of a price for everyone having free health care? Do you have to worry that you'll bankrupt your family if you're ever sick? Rich, poor, black white: everyone gets treated when they're sick. There is a reason Tommy Douglas is a national hero. Stop being so stuck up, stop believing the lies that the pharmaceutical and insurance corporations have told you. You are not automatically superior to everyone else in the world, no matter what your teachers and parents have said. Come see what we have: come watch people from Detroit come here to get health care, because no one in their own country cares enough about them to offer it.

Since when did you start TypeRacing? Today, I got annoyed that I have to buy my recovery Cd's back for £32. Stupid computer :( Just today. My average speed is about 70 WPM, but that's because I keep on tabbing out and forgetting. When actually typing, it's something like 80wpm.
  16. Awesome. I wish that I could've gone.
  17. Pop, water, wine, juice, there's other options. In a resturant where there is no vegan menu, it would feel awkard for me not to eat anything; I would be embaraased of myself for listening to my pity whiney rebellious ideals. I believe that most restaurants now produce a vegan/vegetarian dish as a matter of principle.

    TypeRacer is addictive.
  19. Why would you find it embarrassing? I don't drink pop, and I've never found that to be embarrassing. Occasionally, yes, people are confused about it, but other than that...
  20. (King James Bible) "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination." Leviticus 18:22 And that, my friends, is why people get all worked up about about what two consenting adults want to do in private.
  21. I have no idea what people are still going on about: I simply pointed out that the bible does have an issue with homosexuality. I also said it was full of [cabbage], and have professed my support for the LGBT community.
  22. I don't know about the rest of the world, but in every part of Ontario I know of, mobile homes are still considered residences, as they should be.
  23. According to most Christians, the bible was created by God, and then passed on by humans, albeit in it's perfect form. With no mistranslations. Or missed words. Or practical jokes. I'm not saying that the bible is proof of or evidence for anything; it isn't. A bunch of herdsmen living in tents just decided to write a book that would dictate life. And a few hundred million just decided that it exists.

But an Uncharted addiction ends at some point: the game only goes on for so long, unlike RS.
  25. Too much information to list: the current dietary establishment has had it's stances on nutrition disproved, but it can't actually admit that: http://www.paleonu.com/ http://www.amazon.com/Good-Calories-Bad-Gary-Taubes/dp/1400040787
