RS: scientific vs. relaxed approach
It all depends on what you enjoy the most about RS. If you love boss hunting, but still want to get high ranks in skill total, you'll be the kind of person who spends tons of money on skills to do them the fastest way. Why? Because you make tons of money by already doing the thing you love to do, so it would be smart to get your skills done fast so you can get back to hunting. If you dislike boss hunting, theres a good chance you'll not be as big of a spender, and be more likely to just do the skills in the way you see fit. Of course boss hunting is just an example. If you love merchanting, runecrafting at 91, or any high profit activity. Odds are youll be more likely to spend spend spend when it comes to skills.

Finding the ratio of summoning to slayer exp: You can help!
There's no cause for using offensive language here whether you're joking or not. Please try to be more constructive/helpful in the future when replying to other people's posts- Dragon_R @dooku, are you positive that this hasn't been changed? I was just at Wyverns today and was too lazy to look up their HP so I killed one and recorded it as 200 slayer exp per kill.... :?

Finding the ratio of summoning to slayer exp: You can help!
Can you give an example of a normal monster that has a noticeable difference between Hits and Slayer exp? I don't think someone who is concerned with summoning exp per slayer exp is going to go and kill tons of God Wars bosses for his charms and slayer exp.

Trading - Jagex moving in for the kill?
Please share what you thought before you posted. Probably that your idea makes no sense. God wars is better money than everything else, so they might as well remove every other money maker now. Rune shops have infinite stock so now they're planning on getting rid of runecrafting. etc, etc...Your logic just doesn't make any sense.

Finding the ratio of summoning to slayer exp: You can help!
From what I've seen its coming out like this. There are some really good tasks where you get twice as much summoning as slayer, but there are also some tasks like spirit mages that drop no charms. Also, the higher your summoning, the higher the ratio will be!

d imp locations
Buddy, Imps spawn all over the place. Certain ones dont spawn in certain places. A dragon imp is equally as likely to spawn from any imp location.

Trading - Jagex moving in for the kill?
How is this another step? How does this phase out trading at all?

Finding the ratio of summoning to slayer exp: You can help!
I love training slayer. Even at maxed melees I still do tons of slayer tasks and enjoy it. I can't say the same about summoning. Camping a monster only for charms is such a drag to me. Even waterfiends seem dreadfully slow to me. The only location I enjoy specifically going for charms is to rock lobs, but I'm simply sick of draining all my cash there. So what is the point of me telling you all of this? Well, I want to pinpoint the absolute best charm dropping tasks to get while slaying. I think that the best way to do this is to just find the ratio of summoning exp you get per slayer exp on every task. After trying to write this stuff down in note pad, and getting completely sick of typing so many numbers into the calculator over and over again, I decided to make a nice spread sheet that did all the work for me. For those of you with experience in using Excel spreadsheets, here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?tmmbxejnbcw If you don't have excel or lack experience in it, I'll walk you through some things. First of all, if you don't own Excel, you can download Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org . Basically, free programs very comparable to Microsoft Office. If you don't want to download this, but you still want to help, feel free to calculate everything on your own, but I would advise against it because a spreadsheet program will make things a whole lot easier. For those of you using the Open Office Calc, before USING any part of the spreadsheet, you need to enable editing of the file. You want to click on the edit file button on the toolbar: You will then be asked to make a copy of the file. Click OK. You need to do this because the file I posted is from Excel and isn't able to be edited bye Open Office in the form it came as. When you open the spreadsheet, you should be on the Calculations page by default. If you aren't, click the tab on the bottom that says calculations: This should be a pretty straightforward process, but I'll run through it real quick. 1.) You want to start off by changing the values in the "Exp Per Charm" row to the values that you would be using for your training. In the file that I have saved, I'm making Barker Toads, Unicorn Stallions, Swamp Titans, and Geyser Titans. 2.) Get a slayer task. Use the Task Exp Calc to figure out how much slayer exp you're going to get from the task. The tab labeled "Monsters" has a list of all Duradel monsters that drop charms, and their hitpoints (a monster's hits determines the slayer exp you get from it). Type in the number assigned, and the slayer exp per monster, and then the total exp on the task will be calculated for you. Plug the expected slayer exp into the top column labeled "Total Slayer Exp". You can do this after your task as well, but I like to get it over with before hand, so I dont forget the number I was assigned. If you are doing a task like Scarabites where you may be killing monsters of various hitpoints, there is a place where you can record your exp before the task, and then after the task, and the difference will be calculated for you. 3.) Do the slayer task, and pick up all of the charms you get. When the task is over, simply record the number of each charm you got under the matching column. In the example picture, I got 42 gold, 17 green, 91 crimson, 1 blue. The number under "Total Sum. Exp" will be calculated for you. Also, the ratio you end up with will automatically be calculated under "Summoning exp per Slayer exp". 4.) Write this number down on the page labeled "Averages". There are 5 columns provided, to record the ratio on multiple tasks of the same monster. YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL UP ALL 5 TO SUBMIT INFORMATION ON YOUR MONSTER. I have written down all the Shilo charm droppers already (except for any that I do not have access to), so if you use Shilo you are all set. If you don't use shilo, you might need to erase some monster names, and write new ones. If you need to add more rows, highlight an entire row, then copy and paste into a different row. This will copy the code that creates the averages in the last column. If you need to move the section at the bottom that says "Total Average" you can highlight both boxes, and then drag them down by clicking and holding on the edge of the cell (aka, the rectangle that holds the writing). And thats it! Whew. Soon, you will be seeing what tasks you should and shouldn't be doing if you want to maximize the summoning exp you get while slaying. Here are the ratios (of summoning exp per slayer exp) that have been calculated so far: [hide=Level 85+ summoning]Abberant spectres: 0.98 Black demons: 1.42 Gargoyles: 0.81 Scarabites: 1.30 Skeletal Wyverns: 2.33[/hide] Feel free to reply here with any average ratios that you calculate on your own. However, please make sure you have at least 5 numbers to contribute before posting, as this shouldn't turn into a spam fest of people posting after every single task they do. If many people work on this, we would quickly assemble a list that accurately shows what slayer monsters can get you to 99 summoning by the time you get 99 slayer, and what tasks wont. If any of you experience a real difficulty with adding new rows to accommodate for using a different master, just ask and I can assemble a version of the sheet made for your slayer master. [hide=Please submit any information in the following format---]Name you want written to give credit to: Summoning level calculated at: Specific pouches used for calculations: (Name of first monster): (ratio calculated) (Name of second monster): (ratio calculated)[/hide] If any mod feels that this belongs somewhere else, feel free to move it. I asked the opinion of a few mods before posting here though, and it belongs in general in my own opinion also. List of contributors: Myweponsgood :P

abyssal whip drop rate
That makes a what? 5% difference? Not 800%. Your just unlucky. 5% difference? I'd love to know how you came about a number. The way the ring works gives you a better chance of getting a better rare drop if you get a rare drop. So, every rune chain he got would have had a better chance of being a whip. Theres no percentages here. It could be infinitely helpful.

I need 1.6 mil
If you are going to do that then just go to the Crafting Guild and mine Gold Ore. Why waste time on less profitable ores? Just because an item you can mine SELLS for more doesn't mean you'll always make more money mining it. For that to be true, all ores would have to mine at the same rate. Example:magic logs sell for more money, but at my level I would get better experience and money by cutting yews. Also, if anyone knows what level it takes to one hit mine gold, I'd also be interested in that.

Bandos Lootshare...?
IMO zammy is easier than bandos. Give it a try!
-
our bandos gdw situation
God Wars Dungeon God...Wars...Dungeon GWD Bandos is packed for no good reason. Zammy is way easier and you can get many more kills in. Whoever isn't tanking there basically takes no damage at all.
-
which familiar for bandos ?
Or if you're just plain dumb. Taking all the time to stop attacking the boss, and not being able to use the special in an emergency makes the fruit bat really terrible. By your logic, it would ALWAYS be better to use baskets of strawberries for your food, correct? Especially for bounty hunter where you need as much healing as you can get!

Best way to get clue scrolls!
Kurask are the best I have ever found for level 3s. Some people say turoth are better, but I really think kurask are the best in the game.

Black drags setup?
You either range them, halbred them, or use protect from melee and melee them with whip. If you're ranging or halbreding, its not any different than a normal ranged or halbred monster. Just safe spot in you usual gear, and inventory doesn't much matter since you safespot them. If youre using prayer, remember anti fire pots. Thats about it.

Is this a good invesment?
I can assure you that most strength potions come from members worlds where they are made with an herb and a limpwurt root. The price of red eggs would be more related to super restore potions and not strength potions.

is there an alternative to chins
Falconry and red salamanders are your best options. Red sallys are actually faster than trapping chins.

Smithing Iron bars + knives vs Cballs.
Try smithing iron nails and selling them at the sawmill. Youll not lose any money and its a little more than 20k exp per hour. Don't bother smelting iron into bars.

A MUCH APPRIATED REQUEST! (CHARM RELATED)
If you use piety at fiends (which you should) youll get 75-85 crimsons in the duration of one bunyip pouch. Without piety its probably closer to 70 crimsons for the whole hour. Dusts are about 35-40 crimsons per hour if i remember correctly. (no piety) And you also get about 20 golds and 10 greens, roughly 2-4 blues. Never tried the dagganoths.

A horse, a 99, and some great luck--all in 10 days
Coif sold for (give or take) 35m. Give or take meaning, depending on how you look at the trade. Don't want to go into the trade details exactly because I don't feel like listening to anyone say "OMG YOU GOT RIPPED" or whatever, but lets just say I wound up with 40m more cash than I had before, without losing any items I cared about.

A horse, a 99, and some great luck--all in 10 days
Thanks everyone for words of encouragement. Probably 3 of my favorite accomplishments in RS so far so glad to see people like it. Great_one, I really enjoyed ranging kurasks. The exp flew by for me. I used full void ranged and MSB as you can see in the pic. I'd say on average it was getting me 40k+ exp an hour? Using range pots the whole time. I never really checked the hourly exp rate because they drop TONS of clues, and I was usually there for less than an hour at a time before I got a clue drop. They're also rarely busy, easy to get to with slayer ring and high agility, and they drop tons of rune longs and addy plates very regularly. I also got a total of 5 leaf blade swords and 4 white mystic tops in the 650k exp I had left to 99. Sadly no kurask head though. :( It was honestly such nice training that I almost have a desire to go back and camp them again...The only downside is that, because of the openness of the safe spot in the picture, it is a bit of a pain to safespot them while waiting for them to be unagressive. But, my 82 prayer was enough to protect from melee long enough in case any random ones decided to attack me. Theres also a safe spot using the entrance of the room, but I liked this one better. And to anyone who was confused about my above reply to this thread, yes some jerk came in and spammed it up. :P Gonna edit that now.
