Profits also are correlated to combat level. Technically I am still doing the same stuff as when I was lvl 85 slayer. Yet I make much more money per week. It's mostly due to increase in speed with higher combat, and reduced costs. For instance I actually don't even use prayer pots any more at the black demons.

Smart people use SGS with certain slayer tasks because it either seriously decreases costs, or seriously decreases time spend on task.

It's a choice isn't it. For the same reason I don't cannon everything that can possibly cannon'ed. I enjoy my ways and I don't feel forced to use methods other people think are better for me.

I did a short test myself on iron drags. From another thread Leafbladed sword: 19 iron dragons in 00:16:59. Abyssal whip: 20 iron dragons in 00:17:05. Slight advantage for whip on iron dragons for almost maxed out stats.

I'm a rune defender/whip or SGS man myself. I do notice that most high level slayers tend to have a DFS instead of a rune defender. Do they know something we don't know?

I posted the results on whip vs broad sword in another thread on iron dragons. Whip was marginally faster, but only marginally. I haven't tested any other metal dragons. I use the sword myself on mithril dragons.

A RoW will seriously increase your profit margin at aberrant specters. A berserker is pointless. I have 10% strength prayer on at aberrant specters are hardly notice any difference. I doubt that the berserker ring will even approach that kind of bonus. Go for the money. RoW. As for slayer in general: always RoW. There are a few tasks which don't have any good drops such as kalphites, but you are supposed to cannon those anyway. I had a berserker ring for a while, but I sold it and never looked back. I also had a warrior ring. Same thing though. A slayer is married to his RoW.

toadflax. 50-70k profit for 5-10 min if you have your own seeds. If not, they are only 453 gp each. Don't bother with checking them. Just use supercompost and run the risk that they die. It's only 453 gp after all. Plant marigolds as well during you run and you will have 12k more (4x3k). Once you are 55 farming plant a cactus. Use a dueling ring to transport to it every few hours. 3x 2500 gp profit with no effort. Start MTK. Almost double 75k every day. etc. Do slayer inbetween. At 83 you will get spiritual mage tasks. Good money. Continue a bit and you will hit 85. And you will have a reliable source of income. Something you can do alone and don't need a team for.

I didn't have a party for my 99 defense. Then I was almost at 99HP and said so to a friend. He told me I should have a party. I was thinking: "really?" So we met halfway. He, his brother and a friend met me in the dueling arena, where I hit my 99 on him in a duel. Almost a party. I'm very close to 99 strength now (for some reason they tend to come in a bunch). I will not have a party for that either. My goal is 99 slayer. For that I will have a party.

How are they meant to lose money? Are they taking a super str pot every time they hit a kalphite, to make sure that the (painfully boring) task is over quicker? Slayer is essentially a gathering skill, and losing money should be quite difficult. Yes, it is possible to lose money through slayer, if you want to get it over with. But guess what! You can lose about 130gp every time you buy a yew long and a nature rune and do some alching! If you want quick exp, expect to pay money, but taking the skill slowly should make money filling your coffers almost inevitable. I am actually 94 slayer. I do know what I am talking about. I've seen a kalphite or two. I am actually supersetted 90% of the time I am logged on onto runescape. Most of the time I have a prayer on as well, usually 10% strength (continuously). This doesn't really prevent me from making loads of money with slayer. I went from 1.5 million to 7.5 million last week. I didn't do any farming. It was just slayer loot. And I haven't even cashed in 500 slayer points. To be honest, you hardly need a cannon to efficiently train slayer. Just two tasks. Dags and kalphites.

Personally I like the drunken dwarf. It's just one click. And you get free food, which sometimes is actually quite helpful. The other one-click randoms I can live with as well. The sandwich lady and similar randoms are annoying because you have to go through a dialogue. Which is impossible in many situations, such as doing metal dragons. I usually put the piety on, and hope I am done in time. Other randoms such as the maze and pinball are reasonably ok. They tend to give decent awards. 5 grimy snapdragon herbs, 5 rubies/diamonds. feathers, arrows, chaos. That's quite ok. Annoying but you get something in return. And ironically they often help you to AFK. You are doing black demons in the chaos tunnels. You have been there so long that they stopped attacking you. You get taken to the maze. You do the maze and return and the black demons start attacking you automatically again. You can afk again.

No. I play runescape mainly because it is browser based and it reminds me of old-school rpg's such as baldur's gate.

+1 I'm 93 slayer and I still do the above. I also pick up coins other people leave on the floor, or alch stuff they don't find worthy of alching. If black demons are too expensive in your current setup, try another one. Range them, or use the d halberd. Slower but cheaper.

Real annoying. I had 4 teeth in a row. I had to sell them for 52K each. It's luck.

The combination herb farming (seeds from slayer drops) and slayer made me 30M+ gp last month. Most money came from slayer. (I'm not really a disciplined farmer) If anyone is losing money on slayer they are doing something terribly wrong.

Nonsense. Sgs is the best choice for several slayer tasks. Especially if you are maxed out or being near to being maxed out. As for armour, I just have pieces of different barrows set from which I make an individual set with specific characteristics depending on the task (balance of prayer and defense: then just use prayer bonuses to get that extra "umpf"). As alternatives I use proselyte and black d'hide, dragon legs/skirt. I always used to wear the same thing, but noticed that varying your outfit in combination with different summoning helpers, prayer options helps a lot. And often the tactic changes through an assignment depending on inventory space and summoning helper situation.

Pfft. I died several times at the metal dragons because I forgot an antidragon fire shield. It's not because I don't know I should take one. Sometimes you just forget. I sometimes also press the wrong prayer. Most of the times I notice immediately. Sometimes I don't. Then you start thinking: what? why am I being hit? what? what's going on?. And if you are unlucky you are too late. Especially when you also browse forums at the same time. Dieing stupidly is part of the game. I don't even know how many millions gp I lost due to stupidity. It doesn't bother me.

Use slayer ring/dueling ring combination for banking. It places the aberrant specters next to a bank chest.

I must admit that I would never purchase 3rd age or something similar. I had bandos plate for a while, but I couldn't notice much effect of the bonus. So I sold that. And I am done with strength (one final level left) I will go back to whip and rune defender for most tasks. But I will keep the SGS since it is especially suited for some jobs. Equipment may be expensive but it has to be useful.

I can't train strength with a whip. ;) And the SGS is definitely faster exp than the ss with high level slayer monsters. I tried SS, BGS, ZGS and SGS. I hated BGS and ZGS..I actually went back to SS for a while after having had BGS and ZGS. I don't really notice that I am slower than the people with whip and defender, so if the godsword is slower it is only marginally so. That doesn't really bother me, since I get a lot of benefits back for it: free healing and prayer.

I'm using SGS because I am training strength. It also has a huge prayer bonus. Ever since I got also a trimmed skill cape, I don't need any prayer pots at black dragons. I just wear a combination of guthans/veracs and let them hit me (with a bunyip). If the SGS can't heal me enough I switch to melee protect prayer. Once I am healed again a bit I switch off melee protection. On other tasks I have 5%-10% strength prayer bonus on constantly for free thanks to the SGS. Aberrant specters are a joy with SGS. I can basically stay there for the entire task. But I usually bank halfway. It's not about showing off wealth. I have only 4M in the bank (but last week I made 10M with slayer and farming, so it will rise again). It's about buying something nice and enjoying it. I

Aberrant specters do not drop ranarr seeds. They do drop higher level herb seeds. Mossies and earth warriors tend to drop ranarr seeds for sure.
