  1. I usually take a tinderbox and two marrentills along since there can always be selfish people and I don't want to wait a minute for someone with a marrentil shows up. I also use a terror bird for running energy and storage space.
  2. I usually take with me 3 super att (4), 3 super str(4) and 3 antifire (4). Whenever the antifire runs out I sip super att and str as well. That's well before the att and str stat have returned to normal. and then a load of prayer pots. Nowadays I also take a terror bird with me to help with the lack of inventory space in the beginning of an iron dragon task. It's already slow enough as it is, these iron dragons. You need all the advantage you can get.
  3. I don't think we need one, but I would love to see one. But I am afraid it will probably come with a quest that requires quests that I have never done. For the same reason I never seen a Dark Beast yet, although being very close to 94 slayer now. I was talking about this with a runescaper the other day and suggested the new high level slayer monster could possibly drop some abyssal armour. It would be light and possibly have some amazing slash bonus. Or whatever really. i would be happy with any decent slayer monster, regarding its level.
  4. But it has it's negative points: Slower than a whip/defender combo. Sure it hits harder than a whip, but you can do 3 hits with a whip in 2 for a GS. You can't use a shield/defender. It's mega expensive. Couple that with the fact you can heal with Bunyip/Guthans on most monsters it's only real use is the prayer recharge which given it's price tag just isn't worth it. I've recently gone from SS to BGS to ZGS to SGS. I haven't had the pleasure of an AGS yet. For slayer the SGS is just ideal. I switched my gear to verac in combination with SGS and am usually constantly having 5% str prayer bonus on for the entire task thanks to the SGS. For free! I also use less bunyips. And for the hardhitting targets it gives me the extra healing I usually had to bring extra food or guthan for. So I save time. For softer targets the SS does indeed seem to be better than or about equal the BGS or ZGS due to their not so optimal spec. Maybe the SS is more efficient at lower levels??? But the SGS just blows the SS out of the water with its spec. You get a huge prayer bonus with the SGS to start with. It replenishes the prayer. And it basically gives you an overall free 5% att or str bonus. I've been slaying next to the same level people with whips and I don't seem to be any slower. I even get the impression sometimes that I am actually faster with the SGS. So for me, the SGS was a godsend. I love it. I haven't tried it in the GWD though, because I suck at that kind of stuff. This was all just my opinion. I haven't done measured comparisons.
  5. It's never enough for some people. The other day someone asked why I was wearing an untrimmed defense skill cape. uh...because I only have one 99?
  6. I finally got a metal dragon task so I did a test. I took my trusted whip and the leafbladed sword. The results. Leafbladed sword: 19 iron dragons in 00:16:59. Abyssal whip: 20 iron dragons in 00:17:05. Technically the whip won in this test, but the differences are really minimal. I would venture to guess that during a prolonged test both would have come out exactly the same. The leafbladed sword seemed to hit more frequently. The whip had a few more zeros but when it hits, it hits harder. So if you get lucky and don't get many zeros it does an iron dragon a lot faster. Preliminary Conclusion: For iron dragons it doesn't matter whether you use whip or leafbladed sword. (potted and with 95+ combat stats)
  7. The fasted way to look for an open house is to check the events subforum on the official runescape forum page. There are usually several available.
  8. Greater demons drop rune full. I had once 5 in one task with RoW.
  9. I was going around in monks robes till slayer lvl 91. It was ok. Proselyte is better though. Do the quests if you are bored and not sure what to do.
  10. Herbs are automatically replenished by slayer tasks in the form of herb drops and herb seeds drop. For the last one you actually need to do some farming of course. If I saw it correctly you were 57 slayer now. So take it relaxed. You don't need super gear. Dragon is fine for most tasks. My personal standard outfit. Slayer helmet fury guthan platebody dragon legs dragon boots dragon gloves rune defender/whip or Sara sword Skill cape Ring of Wealth. For prayer tasks exchange that with proselyte body and legs. For mage defense tasks exchange with black d'hide body and legs. Combine this with carrying the rest of guthan in your inventory and you will fly through most tasks. Use a terror bird to collect drops for some monsters. 10 harralanders here and there add up in the end. Pick up coins. Alch anything above the price of a nature rune. Get a bunyip if you got enough charms. Raise your prayer whenever you have the time and money. You can use a cannon, but I rarely do. Basically just Kalphites because I hate them and I don't have them blocked. Unless you just want to speed to 99. Ignore everything I said. But then you need to be rich to start with.
  11. oh it is. 67 stab vs 40 stab. I will try it next time
  12. Maybe so. But if i use DDS on stab for a whole iron dragon I am slower than if I use the whip on slash for a whole iron dragon. Is the leafbladed sword so much better than DDS?
  13. I couldn't start slayer at a very 'low' level since slayer hadn't been released yet. I never see lower levels because I use the highest slayer master. I used to be one of the lowest levels always at the abyssal demons. I remember that well. All the people had higher combat and better equipment. But now I progressed with slayer and I have become one of 'them'.
  14. Maybe there is an effect on mith dragons stab wise, but on irons and steels I hit hardest with a whip. In fact, I used to bring a DDs to iron dragon tasks for the special, but recently stopped doing that. I just whip them. It's faster. But maybe there is an effect with miths. I wouldn't know because I never did any.
  15. That would be nice indeed: a great increase in slayer monsters. And also make them more varied in the way they should be killed. Basically all tasks are melee now.
  16. Skilling is still profitable. Buying a skill isn't profitable (any more). That's why it is called 'buying a skill'. What may have changed is that usually activities related to combat skill are more profitable than 'skilling' skills such as woodcutting/cooking. Example: can you make a profit with cooking? Easily. Just collected all ingredients yourself. Then cook. Then sell. 100% profit. Still, it would have been more profitable to do aviansies. So people do that.
  17. black demons and bad drops? I walk away with 100k in alched drops, various ranarrs, kwuarms etc. after a bad black demon task. Make that 200k for a good one. And a LOT of crimson charms. Black demons are good droppers. Also if you think the tasks are too long. Take a glory with you. Cut the task in half. Go plant some snapdragons in between. It takes only a minute to run back to the black demons in the chaos tunnels.
  18. a friend was asking one day if I had gotten any nice drops in the past week. I answered no, because I hadn't gotten any D drops. And then I realized I had gotten two abyssal whips that week. But they don't count because they are not that rare. Although they are worth a lot more than a D med.
  19. he is quite far away from 75 crafting. So that might not be an option unless he is willing to put some money into getting his crafting up.
  20. Anything with a decent drop is worth a RoW. 20% more chance of getting something decent. That is worth something.
  21. hmm....no...it was on the standard slash (str) i guess. Does it make a lot of difference? I will make another run to see if I was just very unlucky.
  22. Almost all are worth wearing a RoW. So it is better to just always wear one.
  23. less than 5 dragon drops over the years. Yet they remain special I had great moral trouble alching my last d med. Yet I did.
  24. terror bird. filled with sharks. but didn't use any of them since I my inventory was empty of sharks and I hadn't made a dent on the big boss. The 12 sharks in the terror bird wouldn't have made a difference.
