  1. They can give back by viewing the ads that Jagex put there, and I don't imagine many F2P don't pay because they want to spite Jagex. Maybe they don't have access to ways to pay, maybe they can't afford it. I do think that if Jagex are going to keep spouting that they have the world's largest F2P game, they need to treat F2P with a bit of respect.
  2. 3. One of my lecturers has a pretty noticeable stutter, but you get used to it and it's not really a problem.
  4. I used Yamipod once: http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ Great free program, but I don't know if it works with newer iTunes. I had problems a while back where it wouldn't and I haven't downloaded it for a while, but it might be worth trying.
  5. Okay so I'm going for the Novatech and the 24" screen. Thanks a lot for your help guys  I'm going to order it next week when I can be sure I'm around for the delivery.
  6. My first attempt at a pixel signature. I know it's not brilliant but I'm hopeful :D

    Voted yes today ;)
  8. I had an intel chipset on my laptop once. Bad times :( I'm gonna compare that one to my Compaq, it has a better processor at least but slightly less memory (HDD space is easy to get, though).
  9. Toshiba's come with a lot of crapware/bloatware, though. At least, mine did. Wtf is a 'value added package' anyway? I can't really comment on their quality since mine is a bit of an old one, but it's just something to keep in mind if you're getting one. Important thing if you're going to be carrying it around a lot, is weight. My laptop weighs a bloody tonne, you don't want that if you're moving it.
  10. £364 with VAT makes it more expensive than the compaq for just a bit more processing speed, and I'd need to buy a bit more RAM for it. @BloodAngel - Thanks for the link to eBuyer, I'm considering getting this 24" screen now: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/227668 At £124 it's not a bad price :D Also: thoughts on this? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/251310 I can get Windows 7 for free through my University since I'm on a Computer Sci course, but there's just something about the computer that unnerves me. Maybe because it's so cheap for 1TB hdd 4Gb RAM...
  11. I might look around for something with a bit better processor then, I wouldn't begrudge paying a little bit more but I'm just trying to work through ideas is all. I've got a friend who has a 24" screen and I'll be at his house tomorrow so I might see if I think it's too big or not. I'll be using it for viewing all my DVD/anime/tv too, so perhaps getting a bit bigger screen would be worth it.
  12. I like the monitor you suggested, the 22" one was about £60 for half an inch :P I think I'll go with the BenQ monitor but I can't decide between that and a screen my friend suggested at 24": http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-iiyama-ple2409hds-black-widescreen-lcd-monitor-1920x1080-10001-300-cd-m-2-ms-vesa I'm not sure if that's too big or not :P And unless there's a better one suggested, I'm thinking of going for the compaq: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/compaq-sg3-350uk-black-09312066-pdt.html I'm gonna order in a few days so I'm still open to ideas. Does anyone have any ideas for a good, comfortable keyboard? But again, I don't want to splash out loads.
  13. My Student Finance money comes in in a few days and I'm going to be buying myself a desktop PC. I'm looking around for something with 4GB RAM, 500GB+ and then a screen of around 20/22" size. I'm looking for as cheap of a setup as I can without scrimping too much on quality. So do you guys have any ideas for desktops/screens that are good? I'm not interested in trying to build my own, by the way. I've been looking around and these piqued my interest: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/compaq-sg3-350uk-black-09312066-pdt.html http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-bx2231-22-widescreen-led-monitor-07908175-pdt.html http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/aoc-2036sa-20-widescreen-lcd-monitor-04050682-pdt.html http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pavilion-Slimline-S5728uk-Desktop-Pentium/dp/B004NSUT8I/ref=sr_1_14?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1304516129&sr=1-14 Or maybe this for an all in one: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-slimline-s5770uk-p-desktop-pc-with-20-monitor-all-in-one-printer-08702330-pdt.html Does anyone have any better places I should be looking? Or anything. I just need ideas and thoughts :)
  14. I just wallow in it for a while and try to do something distracting like watching TV or playing games. Anything to numb my mind.
  15. Perspective. I've always maintained the viewpoint that every post a moderator or administrator makes IS in essence Moderation. You're posting on behalf of the site you work for and represent and thus are moderating without using your tools. A moderator is a leader, a user of influence who has tools to help guide and lead discussion. Locking/Warning are strictly tools a moderator has to make the boards smoother, not what actually makes you a moderator. You can moderate a thread often without ever having to use a tool Maybe in some small cases that's true but not every moderator is a wizard with words. We can't magically moderate a topic without proper procedures and a in thread like this, where we're posting opinions and engaging in discussion, it's not moderation. One of the important things staff are expected of is to be users first and not let their opinions be compromised by their position. If every post is moderation then I fail to see how we can uphold that standard.
  16. Exactly. Every post a moderator makes is NOT MODERATION. Moderation is removing a post, warning a user, making an in-thread warning, banning... posting opinions is not moderation and if you equate over-moderation to moderators posting then you've made some mistake.
  17. The thread was moved into the correct forum and made open to wider discussion rather than just letting it be a rant. Unless you dislike that there's a wider discussion, then there's no problem with the move. Mods and admins are answering proposals, points and questions raised by users. There's no point in having a discussion on moderation without moderators involved in it. The discussion is on our policies so we'd be completely stupid to just ignore the thread. If we didn't post you'd be complaining about that too.
  18. celebrating the death of innocent civilians == death of a terrorist leader? It's all about perspective. Perhaps but thousands of people to one person isn't a perspective. Would you begrudge people celebrating Hitler's death too?
  19. I have to say that would be an extremely bad idea. There's no way the community can judge on whether or not a user should be banned without knowing information on what they did wrong and their history of incidents. This is information that shouldn't really be shared. Yes, there is room for transparency, but certainly not allowing non-staff to make decisions on moderation issues like that.
  20. I'm glad he's dead. I'm not cheering in the streets but I'm glad. I don't understand how some people can be so ultra-sensitive that they're surprised or upset by people's reactions. The mastermind behind 9/11 is DEAD and all people can think is 'waah, death is never good'. Tell that to the victims of 9/11. He plotted the murder of thousands, he deserves death.

  22. Jagex couldn't do that. Loads of kids play Runescape off school and library computers: you can't have a software download for a browser game.
  23. Outside on the grass in front of the castle then it lead inside... this random falling is driving me crazy D=
  24. But the final confrontation is in the Great Hall! My geography is shaky at times but I'm sure the Great Hall is not down some bottomless pit  I need to watch the movie now just to find out what the [bleep] they've done.
  25. Okay so despite all odds I've somehow managed to get a boyfriend. We've been friends at Uni together since September so when we became a 'couple' there's no real dating phase of it, or getting to know each other sort of thing. We just spend out time up in his uni room watching anime and stuff... But what sort of 'date' type things could we do together that would be appropriate for two people who already know each other well? I know getting to know each other is a big part of the whole point of dating but I don't want to just spend all our time up in his room.
