  1. Ascension crossbows > death lotus darts (if you can avoid autoattacks) > chaotic crossbows > royal crossbow = zaryte bow > hand cannon > pistol crossbows > Karil's crossbow Since the Armadyl crossbow doesn't have an off-hand, it's not very useful. P.S. Moved to Help&Advice :). Questionnaires is for, well, questionnaires - H&A is for questions about the game ;).
  2. @Miss Lioness: I would pick a different hood and weapon, to be honest. I think the scythe is just a bit too much for any outfit, and the hood a bit weird. I'm not sure what would fit better, though. I bought one of the new outfits as well, actually one of the few I was looking forward too seeing the announcement: Superhero lightning, comp cape, war-priest of Zamorak boots, ornate odango, abyssal gaze.
  3. Like the elf city, Inventing was announced a tad early. Maybe in eight years, we'll be saying 'at least this update was done before Inventing' while standing at the elf city GE.
  4. Water magic (ice blitz) and max mage attack, bring some overloads (6-8 doses), renewals, maybe an adrenaline potion or two for use with Sunshine and then prayer pots + emergency food.
  5. I'd recommend drygores over magic, but if maging, use cstaff. Seasingers is better if you're maging, tetsu if you're meleeing, but always use seasinger hood and ragefires/statics.
  6. ...You're criticizing the update because the interface is too well-designed? I'm saying that the voting station has Persian rugs on the marble floor, the supervisor wears the latest Chanel, the ballot paper is by Damien Hirst and you don't have to wait for the vote to end to get the results. The only - slight - problem is that the campaign is run by Tea Party scientists. The joke being that there aren't any, not that the information is biased (but that also).
  7. The requirements are unchanged - 80 defence, magic and constitution. It is possible they had their stats reset for botting. It's also possible that it was a glitch of some kind.
  8. Well... what else are you going to do with Bandos players? Reward them for losing? Nothing that happened in this event was a surprise (good event, eh?), there was plenty of opportunity to get rewards even with Bandos losing so much, so the loss of troops shouldn't be a big deal. Either way, the presence of Bandos troops is not the problem, it's just that (once again) the interface and the information that players base their votes on are completely wrong and unrelated to what's actually going on in-game. And the numbers are way to big, what's with the four extra zeroes they have to paste on everything?
  9. I believe Zilyana is weak to water magic, and she uses melee and magic, so you'll want the defence from magic armour as well. In addition, any GWD gear is simply too weak to tank Zilyana well, so use magic with seasingers or melee with tetsu (use static gloves/ragefire boots regardless).
  10. The thing about this poll is: they haven't even moved past the most general concepting for these updates, so we basically don't even know what we're choosing. If the elf city has something awesome like a teaming area for Dungeoneering right next to a GE, Ports portal and ten herb patches (no reason why it'd have this, but say), then yes, I want the city. On the other hand, if it's going to feature lots of t70 equipment that degrades to crystal seeds, and 100k fishing (or woodcutting, mining etc.) xp/h (afk), then screw it. I think the best reaction is to simply ignore the whole vote, but okay. It's a bit like a political party asking: "Do you want freedom or dignity?" without specifying what that means for policy.
  11. Okay, I didn't know that would be an issue, I don't hear very much about low-level training. Try the Lumbridge Catacombs then, unlocked after the Blood Pact quest. Those are lower-levelled and pretty close-packed. As an aside, what equipment are you using?
  12. @Sy: We can conclude that Timbo isn't very good at balancing. @Alg: Probably... what about the loot for hellhounds? But really, I've never minded that hellhounds don't drop anything - if they're good slayer xp (which they were, in the resource dungeon), it's quite relaxing to not have to pick up loot all the time. Besides that, combat keeps getting buffs, skilling keeps being useless.
  13. Hmm. I don't know for sure, but you can do quests such as the Waterfall Quest to get some good early xp (same as oldschool). Other than that, try hill giants perhaps?
  14. The poll system doesn't feel like it's taking us seriously. There's a huge focus on looks and ease of voting, and no focus at all on making an informed choice. It's just a marketing stunt by Jagex, and a further excuse to do as little work as possible. For example, from the drop table rebalancing poll, you can choose one of four groups: Beasts - Dark beasts, basilisks, turoth, kurasks. Demons - Abyssals, greaters, lessers and imps. Elementals - Aquanites, waterfiends, pyrefiends, dust devils. Ghosts - Abberant spectres, ankous, ghasts, GWD spiritual creatures. Or you can choose 'none of the above'. These categories are completely made up. No rebalance for black demons? What about icefiends, what about banshees, what about cave crawlers, what about pretty much every other slayer creature? That's ignoring the possibility that some monsters maybe shouldn't have good drops... seriously.
  15. Manage Thy Kingdom, the activity on Miscellania that gives you resources if you invest up-front.
  16. Dual wield magic is probably pretty good to start with. No, you don't need the quests. It's not as useful, but still useful. Killing dragons, herb farming, MTK. At lower levels, try not to focus on moneymaking, it'll be slow. From scratch try to get all stats up to 10, then 20 etc. and do quests as soon as they become available.
  17. Do you all still have every random event item capped except for adv rerolls? because you should be getting an adv reroll at around a 60% clip. I've had 5/7, so far, though yeah, i've also been lucky with the missions i've got. I was under the impression that that was fixed, so I don't have all items capped. I did get an adventurer reroll (700 steel from the Biologist, nothing else -.-), so even better scroll luck there -.-.
  18. While I like the skilling options/improvements (instancing could cause lag though, not sure about that), there's a huge precedent that cities are mostly filler (see: Varrock, Falador, Ardougne, Seer's Village, Lunar Island, Rellekka). If the whole city had a purpose, it'd feel a bit too concentrated. One reason I really like dungeons like the Underground Pass is that it's pointless space, so you don't know whether it'll have any use later. That doesn't stop anything from being built, but there is only so much of the city (about the size of East Ardougne - Varrock is bigger). The whole elven area has that 'spacious' feel that I don't want to give up by stuffing it full of hotspots. If we could put a continent behind the current city (north-west?), now that'd be nice, because you could put lots of resources there. The coastline past Prifddinas is only a placeholder anyway. Looking at the map, I think there's one thing we can definitely do: put docks at the west coast, put charter ships there, put some nice fish there (except that c2 already wins, but okay). The coastline that arcs from Eagles' Peak to the coast north of the city could simply curve a bit further west and develop into a continent there. That would at least explain why we aren't able to sail from Rellekka to Port Tyras.
  19. I'm at 51% to the next zone, and I've only seen two scrolls and four stories, all success, but still a really low rate. At this rate I'll have the scrolls for the cape before the Shield, and maybe the ring, but definitely not the stories or the items.
  20. That claw is much better than EEE, which is the next best thing right now, unless you count godswords and simply not meleeing.
  21. Edit: let's first reply to the above. The idea of having clans represent a broad sort of guild is good, but I'm not sure that crystal equipment will be good enough to make the city attractive on the long term. In addition, not all skills must be trained in the city, or it'd be the only area you visit as high-level player (excepting Ports and bosses). So ideally the clans would give a certain reward that can be used outside the city, which can be either bonus xp or improved tools that degrade (but look at the failure of the Imcando pickaxe). post with ideas about hubs: What's the current hub? The Grand Exchange, Edgeville and Varrock West banks, Daemonheim? For an effective hub, you need a bank, GE and lodestone/free teleport. You also can't have it instanced (like Ports) because that'd prevent player-to-player trading and conversation, and you can't log in into an instance. But I don't think we were planning to build this city without bank, let alone instanced :P. Skilling spots are relatively minor issues for hubs, I think. Anywhere you can bonfire near a bank, you have all the bank skills available, and combat won't be trainable near a bank anyway. The only skilling things you really need are anvils, looms, spinning wheels and furnaces, and only the first of those is used by high-level players. However, farming patches are pretty good, so having a new allotment patch would be good - if you can keep an eye on your herbs from where the bank is, it encourages you to stay at that bank. Tree and fruit tree patches would be nice as well. Places for mining, woodcutting and so on don't have to be in the city itself, though a dungeon underneath with, say, concentrated adamant rocks would be good. Shops are mostly useless, so I'd ignore those for now. I don't think Port Sarim gets much traffic from the five shops there (runes, axes, fish, food, jewellery), just from Ports and QBD really. Altars and obelisks probably do make a hub that much more convenient, so I'd add those, somewhere between the bank/GE and the lodestone. Which brings us to the point of combat. The GE is ideal because it allows you to sell your loot straight away, buy supplies and go back to bossing. But it's also close to Warbands, it's close to the main pvp area of the game (such as it is - it used to be more important anyway), and any boss/slayer monster is reached by teleport anyway. Only Daemonheim is really a hub with an activity close by, and that's because it's kinda required to wait for teams. In the end, looking at what makes a good hub, I think it's mostly the GE. If you make any area with a GE less accessible than the GE is, then it won't be a good hub, unless you put a concentrated rock right besides a bank chest. One thing that might help is making the whole elven forest a PvP area similar to the wilderness, with a PvP toggle system similar to the one used in the world event, and adding a large boost to xp gain with pvp on.
  22. Well... chances are you won't be getting sufficient steel to buy out every single offer that comes along, so you should save your steel for plate, as that's the most valuable (they all cost the same, don't they?). Once you hit the Loop, you certainly won't be getting steel at an appreciable rate.
  23. I think you just did :D. Still 2/4 scrolls, 48% to next region, only got whaler/biologist double for steel and xp today -.-. I did get another voyage reroll, from Umi, which is nice.
  24. There is an old school forum with its own screenshots thread. It's still ok to post 2007 screenshots here, the other way around is a bit iffy though :P.
