  1. Eh, quite simply: When looking at weapons, look only at the level they require. Higher is better, of course. When looking at armour, look at the level and the designation: power, tank, hybrid. Generally, power > tank > hybrid. However, if you are taking too much damage, you can use tank instead. Remember that only top, legs and shield give accuracy penalties (if you use the wrong armour with a certain weapon). You can use boots, gloves, helmets and such to focus your defence. For example, when ranging a meleer, you can use magic boots/gloves/helm to boost your melee defence. Don't use power armour to boost your defence, you won't get bonus ranged damage from magic power armour. The armour and weapon stats are just there to look pretty. They don't mean anything - level is all you need.
  2. Chins give xp, you just don't get xp until you finish a kill. Dragonfire shields haven't been very good since defenders and chaotic shields :P. Best abilities: Slice, Dismember (DoT), Sever, Destroy, Assault, Slaughter (DoT), Whirlwind (AoE), Berserk Piercing Shot, Frag Shot (DoT), Ricochet (multi), Rapid Fire, Bombard (AoE), Death's Swiftness Wrack, Concentrated Blast, Combust (DoT), Chain (multi), Dragon Breath (melee), Asphyxiate, Wild Magic, Sunshine Abilities are all three ticks (1.8 s) each, so there's no speed boost from using wands. But since conc. blast >> sonic blast, then yes, treachery + Ahrim's book > sol. Hand cannon wouldn't be very good in comparison, royal crossbow with royal bolts would be good if you needed ranged xp. Blues are so weak that weaknesses don't matter too much (if you have level 70-80+ gear).
  3. That is probably due to any number of other things... such as your teammates not using scrimshaws/overloads/prayers/power armour/whatever. Omnipower ought to have the same max hit with any t80 weapon.
  4. 20 chi is 2/3 of seasinger's hood, 2/5 of robe bottoms or 1/4th of a robe top, so how much are these items right now?
  5. I don't think you can balance the combat system simply by increasing power levels.
  6. That only happens if you use it wrong. Spam Concentrated Blast and your dps should be high.
  7. Seasinger's would make it easy, otherwise Virtus or Ganodermic will work. If you have superantifires, you can use seismic/virtus/cs/abs, otherwise add a dragonfire shield. Tactics are pretty simple: ignore everything, get the artefacts ASAP. Pray protect from ranged.
  8. First of all: 'harebrained' is apparently the correct spelling (the expression originates from having a hare's brain, not a hair-sized brain, though hair used to be a spelling variant of hare). @Urza: it's far too early to get into specifics, but yes, that kind of recipes. Really quite simply, just like you need a certain slayer level to kill ganos, you need a certain inventing level to make a dragonfire cannon.
  9. Since EoC, items > levels.
  10. We have that, it's called Revenge/Reflect/Anticipation/Devotion... 15 seconds is almost nothing, it completely defeats the point of having a stance. @Ambler: why one minute per five, why no critical hits? Why affect protect prayers out of the blue? To me, there seems no reason a berserker wouldn't have prayer. My point being, you're trying to balance a stance by adding downsides which aren't really downsides in many situations, and not always with good 'lore' reasons. Unrelated, the use of percentages already makes stances super boring - they don't fit anywhere in the equipment system. I'd rather see level boosts.
  11. I have a general idea for Invention - http://forum.tip.it/topic/299446-q/?p=5471595. Essentially, Slayer is a 'special combat technique' skill. It's currently mostly trained by assignments, which is fine I guess. Dungeoneering is a 'special exploration' skill, so it's about finding new areas. Inventing is a 'special skilling technique' skill. It unlocks recipes, methods etc.. For example, constructing a better Blast Furnace or whatever, or higher-tier weapons, or just a treatment process to harden runite to t60. As for how it should be trained: you could do things similar to Slayer, where you make special items with various skills (say, rune goblin armour or whatever) - get tasks or ideas at various guildmasters perhaps. You could also have a more AFK option by doing research in libraries, similar to ivy. You can also redo things like Ancient Pages and Scarabite Notes to give Inventing xp (backwards compatible by awarding bonus xp). Plus that you can use a lot of the new things we learned in quests as tie-ins - rune guardians, the Wizard Tower basement library, Movario's notes on tormented demons, anything goes.
  12. Guys, please stay on topic. It's fine to discuss plans for 200m in all skills, but don't go spamming with one-word posts or going off-topic with personal life/in-jokes/whatever.
  13. 75% at the moment. Not a lot of stories achieved so far, it's rather annoying.
  14. Well, you can at least upgrade to a whip. Korasi's is pretty good, as Ambler said; other than that there's the vine whip and nothing else. If you want a powerful, non-degrading weapon, you're stuck with at most an Armadyl battlestaff at level 77, so I'd recommend getting into the habit of using degrading weapons.
  15. That's not what I meant. I'm saying that stances as a whole should not promote a specific role, that is, the group of abilities that are stances should not favour a certain role (= stances should roughly be equally powerful). That means I'd rather not see stances used as a shield buff, but rather as a diversification overall. The shield buff would have to be taken care of separately, preferably in a more specific and more thorough way. As for your second point, that's completely unrelated. I didn't say anything about that, so I'm not sure why you brought it up.
  16. I don't think stances/toggles should promote a specific role. Certainly, it'd be cool to have various stances, but a) they shouldn't be about reducing ability spam (that's something that needs to be cut regardless) and b) they should be roughly equal. I would rather have a more all-round fix to shields. However, chances are we won't get any all-round fixes.
  17. It'd make sense to use shields as blunt weapons, giving a certain amount (say 10-20%) extra damage, with off-hands at 20-40%). Since shield bashing is melee only, that'd give a little boost to melee tanks as currently magic and ranged have the advantage of being at a distance. On the other hand, you could simply give shields another advantage. For example, hits blocked by your shield (e.g. attack rolls that exceed your defence roll without shield, but not your defence roll with shield) are 'glancing blows' and have no adverse effects, whereas other blocked hits drain your adrenaline by a small amount (say, 0,25% - 0.5% for successful hits?). Of course you'd want to reduce the highest ability adrenaline cost to 95% or so (barring some exceptional abilities), to prevent a single blocked hit from disabling all ultimate abilities.
  18. Okay, I'll do that, thanks :). I'm going to leave the thread up for a few more days, and if there's no more comments I'll order it on Monday or thereabouts. Thanks everyone :).
  19. A flat xp multiplier is a really bad idea... for one, it has nothing at all to do with elves. Second, it's boring in all sorts of ways.
  20. Vigour is good for peak dps because it helps your (Natural Instincts >) Sunshine > Wild Magic > Asphyx combo. Vigour is nowhere near worth it for anything else, unless you're switching every time you Berserk or something.
  21. ... it doesn't really help your case that Jagex confirmed to be in the concepting stage. They don't even know whether there will be a GE in the city.
  22. Haha well that's no problem :P. I wasn't exactly buying the card for the game anyway. @Tim, Sy: Would you recommend 2x4 GB then, or 2x8 GB? 2x4 is basically the same price, 2x8 is about 80 euros more.
  23. Blisterwood stakes aren't worth making due to the slowness of chopping blisterwood, and if they were worth it, you might as well use them in both hands.
  24. Dismiss two Judges, two oxheads and all the witches. Get four tigers and three merchants. That's the minimum - another merchant instead of a judge/oxhead is fine, another tiger is also fine. When you hit the new region, keep your higher-levelled oxheads early on, but eventually replace them with the new basic crew or special crew. Assuming you're around 60% to the next zone right now, that should give you enough time to get them to a decent level. If you wait too long, then your current crew will be better than hastily-bought Pincers crew.
  25. So I'm (finally) getting a proper desktop, and although I have been helped quite excellently, it was recommended that I run this past the experts here. Does anyone have any improvements or notes about this: [hide=Copied from pcspecialist.co.uk] Case COOLERMASTER ELITE 311 BLUE CASE Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4770k (3.5GHz) 8MB Cache Motherboard ASUS® Z87M-PLUS: m-ATX, USB3.0, SATA 6.0, XFIRE Memory (RAM) 8GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 8GB) Graphics Card 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 770 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready Memory - 1st Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM Power Supply CORSAIR 650W RM SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET (€96) Processor Cooling INTEL STANDARD CPU COOLER Extra Case Fans 1 x 12CM Black Case Fan (configured to extract from rear/roof) (€7) Sound Card ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD) Wireless/Wired Networking WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps PCI-E CARD (€20) USB Options MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 4 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS Power Cable 1 x 2 Metre European Power Cable (Kettle Lead) Operating System Genuine Windows 8.1 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (€96) Monitor BENQ GL2250 21.5" LED - 1920 x 1080, 5MS, D-SUB, DVI-D (€109) DVI-D & HDMI Monitor Cables 1 x 2 METRE DVI-D CABLE (€7) Keyboard & Mouse LOGITECH® K120 USB KEYBOARD (€13) Mouse CM Storm Xornet Gaming Mouse (€24) Speakers LOGITECH LS21 2.1 SILVER/BLACK SPEAKER SYSTEM (€30) [/hide] The quoted price is 1504 euros including VAT, which is about what I was looking for (this is without stretching the budget). Apparently it also comes with a free copy of Assassin's Creed Black Flag (with the GPU). I'm mainly looking to use it gaming and playing music (simultaneously, sometimes), not for watching films or running simulations or whatever, and I'm hoping this one will last a good while. Building a PC myself is definitely out of the question. Thank you very much in advance :). Direct the blame for bad choices at Ambler, cause he helped pick them :D. p.s. The case is the cheapest one that will hold the extra fan. The power supply is generous, as the website calculates 540w usage with 20% allowance, but it throws an error when I select a smaller one, so...
