  1. No, Jagex seems to consider 07 and modern RS the same game or something. There's no way to do it but trust trading though.
  2. For the early regions, just recruit whatever crew you need, there's no use building the perfect Skull crew because the Skull will be over before you're done. In later regions, aim for a balance of all crew members, a merchant per ship and probably two or three solidarity crew. The special crew you unlock with island voyages (cyclops, siren and so on) are worth getting, and get the ship upgrades, particularly the deck upgrades. You can leave upgrades like the workshop for last. Upgrading the office for more ships is a priority.
  3. Step 4. 43% to the next region, 2/4 scrolls for the cape, got a couple of pearls and scales so far, but not much.
  4. You don't need to unlock the new regions (you'll probably get the ring before you get to the last region), but what xpx said still holds: chances are you'll get the ring in a couple of months if you start now.
  5. I don't trust anything Mod Mark says, but then again the elf city will only be semi-useful given Jagex balancing.
  6. Construction isn't that expensive - it's about 11-12 gp/xp with oak/teak planks, or about 20 gp/xp with mahogany. It's very easy to get free xp with god statues (prayer and construction, as it happens), and you can always get tons of free xp from challenges. Prayer is quite costly with frost dragon bones, but a lot less with dragon/airut bones. If you have a skill that's 240k xp/h and 10 gp/xp, that's equivalent to a skill of 120k xp/h at an income of 2.4m gp/h, or 80k xp/h at an income of 1.2m gp/h. That is, you save an hour at a cost of 2.4m or you save two hours at the same cost. 1.2m gp/h is really pretty low, 2.4m gp/h already very manageable at medium stats, if you make money off Ports and bossing you'll be way over 3m/h. That means Divination is pretty much always a better thing to lamp than a buyable (unless you're a skiller without Ports/MTK/merchanting).
  7. The balance isn't 'a little off'. The balance is completely reversed - being maxed combat is a real drawback, not an advantage. And yes, this is temporary, and yes, lower level folks deserve a fighting chance, but how about letting warband FCs take care of that? In addition to that, it'd be so easy to make the buffs fair. Just give everybody free equipment, scale it with level and you're done.
  8. Please don't post only to get RuneTrack views. Add the image to your signature and post for real, or don't post at all.
  9. It is balanced around items that don't exist yet (easy to see because level 180s get a bonus vs 200s as well, right?). A level 170 with t70 (Barrows, no shield) armour was hitting as high as I was using drygores, and he confirmed that he had a 84:1 kdr because of that >.>. He was a good hybrid, so it wasn't entirely unjustified, but t70, seriously - shields already dominate 1v1 pvp, you shouldn't be able to (almost) equal tetsu/drygores with Karil's/rxb.
  10. I don't think tank bosses are necessarily coming because of the presence of tank equipment. It's just a matter of making Ports less useful. I wouldn't bother with the shields, apart from the collecting of high armour rating. I used a Malevolent kiteshield in the world event, and it's quite useful, but since divines exist etc....
  11. I don't think so, unless it's the 'Meet the Chef' mission you're after (and then I'm still not sure, but it seems everybody's been getting the new adventurer introductions very quickly, up to two per day).
  12. Apparently world event lamps used on Divination have an xp boost. Wiki lists the following: 95% xp (of a huge prismatic lamp) normally 109.25% xp on Divination (15% boost) So you have the choice: .95 * 41.196 = 39136,2 xp or 1.0925 * 26.716 = 29187,23 xp Fishing is probably over 80k p/h at that level, using c2 fishing and SC, maybe more (not sure how much SC boosts). You can also train Woodcutting simultaneously, which further boosts efficiency. Divination is a good bit slower, maybe 60k xp/h? You also get Hunter xp, which can be quite handy. I don't know for sure which one is going to be better, but I'd tend to say Divination, because Fishing is a great deal faster at any level, and Woodcutting xp is more valuable than Hunter xp.
  13. Here's how it's going to go: 1) Jagex continues to derp. 2) RS dies. 3) The original game code and copyrights are sold for a nominal fee of one pound to a certain Q. 4) Q releases major updates, working with a volunteer programming team. 5) RS relaunched and super duper successful. ??? 6) Not profit, because that destroyed the game the first time round. Of course more realistically, only step 1 and 2 happen.
  14. He's getting agility xp, so maybe he's doing some BA? The other option is that agility's dead boring (no offence to the agility fans, but 19h/day is tough) and that's why he's slowing down :P.
  15. Well I was thinking urns, but that also works.
  16. New Ports buildings: Personal Office Above the office Allows players to do some of their own business in the Port, the higher tier the Personal Office, the better. For example: Adds an office with a bookcase, telescope, pet basket (holds and feeds one pet) and cape rack. Can take a ship from your personal port to any charter ship hub, for free. Also adds a PoH teleport. The above, plus task/quest item rewards (pure essence, pineapples, sand, tokkul etc.) are gathered automatically. Comes with a bank chest. The above, plus Manage Thy Kingdom can be played from the office. The above, plus a GE function added to the bank chest.Guest Apartments Above the lodgings Allows visiting adventurers to stay the night in comfort. 25% chance that one random adventurer present in your port does not disappear at reset, but stays for one extra day, offering the same missions. The above, but 50% chance.Choice of:The above, but affects two random adventurers. The above, but 100% chance.Personal Workshop Above the workshop Allows the player to do some more work in their Port. Adds a workshop with armour stand, crafting bench, armour case, highest-tier workbench, tool racks and banner easel. The above, plus it reduces repair cost of armour fixed on the armour stand by 20%.The above, plus a furnace/pottery oven, pottery wheel, stove, water source, loom/spinning wheel and anvil. The above, plus another bank chest (no more running up and down).Additional upgrade for the totem slots: mini-obelisk, altar and portals! So now you'll never have to leave your port to max stats! This is how you make a high-level hub.
  17. Since Hati/Skoll grant a fixed amount of xp, it's better to use them on slower skills, which would be attack/strength (since chinning/barraging on defensive is better xp for other skills).
  18. Okay I'll take that as 'I want combat performance'. It may be worth going for a single Ports skill, to get started on the armour at least - you have a choice of/are close-ish to 90 fishing, 90 herblore and 90 cooking, but you'll need runecrafting/crafting/smithing to actually make the armour (if you start ports now, you can wait a few months to get those skills). Frost dragons are decent money I believe, so you can kill those for combat xp - 83-90 attack at frosts should be good for drygores, just very boring. Since you have 85 herblore, I'd go for extremes first (90 herblore + banner boost), then turmoil. Keep your drygores. There's always the standard moneymaking things: herb farming, dailies, QBD/Glacors/TDs/DKs/frosts/airut - you can't do the last, but the rest should be okay. Without t90 weapons, you may want to stick to glacors, for the charms and combat (magic) xp as well.
  19. Good stuff :). I'd add another point: be right, and prove that you're right. That 99 fletching guide you use as an example, is very very inefficient, since broad arrows are way better than magic log items. There is nothing in the guide that discusses other methods to get 99; it's essentially just a way to get 99, not the way to get 99. We all know a way to 99, it's just repeating any xp-giving action forever; what a guide needs is the best method and proof of awesomeness. Another good point is always the 'keep your guide up-to-date' and 'respond to questions if possible' which really help the content of forum-based guides. Third point: Don't use only video (because videos are hard to read if you're just skimming or looking for a small piece), try to add at least the basic info as text. With a text-heavy guide, make sure to add images and (depending on subject) also videos. Look at this guide for reference: http://forum.tip.it/topic/322024-dungeoneering-for-dummies/. Diagrams can often explain far more than words, and maps are a must-have for quests and tasks. It's also a good idea to make pretty diagrams because it looks awesome :D. I like the luring diagrams I made for tormented demons (http://www.tip.it/runescape/pages/view/tormented_demons.htm , top one isn't mine) although a video or animated picture would be better still.
  20. They could at least have added some personal rooms for the player (with a PoH portal and wardrobe/dresser/bed, just copy some PoH hotspots), above the office or something, put an armour stand and workbench above the workshop (again, PoH hotspots) and put the trader on the second floor of the lodgings (cause that's where guests stay, right?). Also the warehouse upgrades require minimal effort, considering it's just adding a stack of terracotta, a stack of azure and a couple of miscellaneous items. That the fletching bench in the workshop isn't used to make death lotus darts is stupid as well. And why haven't we gotten spicy overloads yet?
  21. Of the two, I'd guess Prayer, because you get so much more xp per lamp, and you'll get plenty of charms maxing combat. Then again, if you don't have any charms now, you might want to boost Summoning a little.
  22. I removed some posts that were flaming/very much leading to flaming. Please remember to be civil and to refrain from using personal attacks.
