  1. Actually if you get a void set effect that's 5%, it'd be an insane offensive cape :P. 5% is worth like 20 strength bonus in good gear, the completionist cape would only be better for the teles/picking up arrows if at all.
  2. Well you would calculate max hit and max accuracy roll and determine the defence roll a certain setup would be better against. 5 + (level + 8)(gear bonus + 64)/64 So what you do is calculate that, then fill in the defence roll for the monster. If the maximum roll your opponent can have is unrealistically low straight away, you got your answer, otherwise you'll need lots of testing.
  3. It could be right, what sort of gear/location did you chin at?
  4. There are points where dfs > ddef and strength > fury. They just require insane accuracy. Also you lose +5 prayer on the fury, which is not crucial but nice to have. Fury before bcp has to do with monsterhunting applications mainly. The order would be berserker ring > bcp > fury > tassets = claws if all you did was melee slayer. I believe Grimy Bunip once calculated that you need 85%ish accuracy to take dfs over a rune defender, and around the same for strength over glory. However it's really quite hard to get that high, even on stuff like greater demons.
  5. Just doing these for strange rocks, most of the level was PP.
  6. Chinning is still fast xp at level 70, just higher gp/xp. If you have 25k cannonballs and 10k adamant arrows I'm suspecting you can afford to chin all the way, I recommend investing in a void ranged set first though.
  7. The max hit formula was deduced empirically on the RSOF iirc. Grimy Bunyip then thought that attack and defence would offer similar rolls. This system is quite common in d20 system games (D&D for example). Since the theory appears to fit well to reality, it's fairly commonly accepted. For example the theory shows how strength > accuracy.
  8. If the best platebody you can get is very low compared to your weapon (as in, 40/50/60 maybe 70 defence pures) you should go with a rapier.
  9. Closed for cleaning. I clearly stated that the argument would end with my post. I'm now going to have to clean this. Give me a moment. The argument on empowered fire staff versus ccs ends now. Thank you and happy posting. If more stuff needs removing, report it please, responding to it is what made this take so long.
  10. I voted no. That's what you have 138 combat for.
  11. ghosts? fire giants? demons? warriors? brutes? as well as various boss monsters: Maybe not a majority, but a nontrivial number of monsters. I mean basically your opinion is that you'd rather have +4% melee DPS over +30% magic dps. And and sure you need to make fire runes/water/earth, but elemental runes can be looted or crafted more losslessly than say, having to chop an entgallow. but more there's definitely not more than 7.5x as many monsters that you would rather melee over mage furthermore fire surge with CCS puts out damage faster on skeletons/zombies than a primal 2h. I should think that concludes the discussion with Sly Wizard, also as this is a 3rd bind discussion wheres Sly seems to be discussing second/first binds.
  12. He has a hexhunter bow lol, which is slightly better than a ccs . CCS is good if you have only one in a team, as such we don't have very many of them around. But I think The Bemis was/is very good with the staff. And how on Gielinor do you manage to turn 'boost you won't be using more than half the time' to 'worse boost'? It's pretty obvious that the ccs is a much larger boost to your magic power than gaunts are to a 2h (which you would probably replace with a battleaxe at that point). I think rapier + 2h is around as good as axe + gaunts.
  13. Don't know the second, no to the first. Afaik the familar should boost your allotment harvest though.
  14. The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets): [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip) Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top) [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3 Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune) Dragon boots (rune boots) Amulet of fury (glory) Dragon defender (rune defender) Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring) [Most important] Full slayer helmet. [For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and elite void skirt (black dragonhide body and chaps) [Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Chaotic maul (Saradomin sword, Zamorakian spear) [stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Korasi's sword (Zamorakian spear, leaf-bladed sword) Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimes Cannon (optional, up to personal preference) Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +10 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +20 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, black dragon, blue dragon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit). Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better. Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning): 68 summoning - bunyip 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split 88 summoning - unicorn 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload 99 summoning - steel titan I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it.
  15. Erm, really? They're a lot slower xp. It used to be more efficient at certain incomes to use grey, sure, but that's years ago when making 1m/hr was awesome.
  16. Sticky means that when you remove another bot topic, you can tell people: "Look it's even stickied! Why did you post another!".
  17. I know, that's why I hid your name in *cough*s :D.
  18. Well you can join DGS - you won't be able to do high floors with ranks obviously, but you can do your lower floors as c1 rushes (or do them c2 for fishing xp) and join floors 30 and up large. Some random keyers (*cough* Losing Games *cough*) will host furnished larges too, though it's an oddity.
  19. Try a basic setup first - black hide, fury, neit, kxbow, rapier + defender, ee for specs and an elemental titan. Bring plenty of rocktail. Once you get better you can try void, switching helmet and weapon. I think you'll be stuck using food until you get a unicorn, though the ee spec will help a little.
  20. Not to mention Corps area attacks would just rip Jad to shreds. Loving these papercrafts. I'd buy one if I like, saw one in a store IRL or something o_O Yeah, but Jad has an entire army of TzHaar and 4 healers as well. Dark core > Healers. Besides I don't think any monster in the caves but the 360s can even hit corp, and it'll heal a lot with the core anyway. Jad vs Corp I don't see Jad hitting that much either, considering corp can just farcast, has insance magic defence and good ranged defence and 20,000 health :D.
  21. If you were into ranging - could consider not getting prayer and hy/tribriding with rigour. Not sure how good that is. Anyway 6/8 combats maxed, maybe 7/8 if you keep rigour. Wait that'd be like I'm promoting no turmoil :o.
  22. The 4 and 6 keys do not store predifined positions. You simply misunderstand my sentence. @ Touchscreens: yes, but you still got to move your hand right?
  23. Should probably find the right key like the one under smuggler I would if there was one :(. There wasn't a red dot either (and I'm 100% sure the guy moved around while I checked the map too, so he wasn't over it all the time).
  24. Excuse me? 1 input (keystroke, mouseclick, mousemove) must be one action, no more. Moving and clicking are separate actions. Moving to a predefined spot is not allowed (you can't do that with a mouse normally (that is you can but you need to guide it all the way)).
