  1. Also, some people indirectly commit suicide by playing non-stop for hours on end or even days. I heard that some people got into an argument over some game-related issues and one got angry and killed the other guy I think. Anyway, violence due to computer game addiction is common, e.g. people taking a gun, going to a school and shooting students and staff. Load of one-sided bias [cabbage]. For the people with jobs - seriously? Working adults have excess cash? Go poll a thousand working adults and let's see how many of them have excess cash. And even if they do, they're more likely to spend it on alchohol (for men) and cosmetic crap (for women), rather than games. Money is always short for anyone in middle to low class. And the high-class are a minority. For kids/students - you're encouraging people to no-life for gp? As if computer game addiction isn't bad enough already..Students playing RuneScape will become obsessed with making gp and play non-stop to make money. Absolutely ridiculous. For sweatshop employees - there are better jobs out there than being tortured for a miserable sum of money. And it's not about them getting money - it's about human rights. Mainland Chinese can always move to neighbouring Asian countries where jobs are plentiful, e.g. Japan, Singapore, etc. Your logic for Jagex is RIDICULOUS. Firstly - Jagex being rich makes them deserve getting their money ripped off? It's like saying go burn down Microsoft warehouses because Bill Gates is the richest person in the world since it wouldn't matter anyway. Secondly, don't you know credit card fraud is a REAL-LIFE CRIME? Jagex doing their part to suppress it also helps to prevent a real-world crime. Success is based upon initiative - what's wrong with having initiative ingame? Success being largely based on luck is true, but that doesn't mean we have to encourage it or condone it. Anyhow, there are plenty of examples of people who have become successful even though they are from a poor family.
  2. Rangers and melee-ers aren't overpowered, mages are underpowered...-.- What a load of [cabbage]. Ancient Magick spells require high level magic to use effectively. Don't these spells also require high-level magic to use effectively? The lower-level pulse spells just can't compare to the ancient magick spells, and the higher level spells like cement and such would fail frequently unless you have high-level magic. I fail to see how low leveled mages can be better than high level mages.
  3. To add on to my earlier reply. I'm sure you or other supporters of institutionalising real-world trading would come up with the argument that it isn't illegal and many games are doing it anyway, for example MapleStory, and whatever games you've cited. Hedgehog1 has already made a very good post about how it would make players overly obsessed with the game. There are cases of people killing or injuring each other over games. Even people committing suicide because they lost a lot of their real-life cash when their account was hacked or whatever. The issue with RWT is this: The cyber world already has a significant influence over many teenagers' real-life activities and actions. RWT further breaches the gap between real-life and the cyber world, causing ingame issues to spill over to real life, from simple issues like players wasting too much time playing computer games to extremely serious issues like people committing suicide or harbouring suicidal/violent thoughts because their account was hacked, they died and lost all their items, etc etc. In conclusion, the issue about Real-World Trading ISN'T about it being illegal or not. It is about it being immoral or not. Whether it is dissolute. Accordingly, Jagex is a company that has high standards of morals and character, as far as companies go anyway. They claim to try their best to prevent immoral activities like luring, scamming, real-world trading, botting, etc. Being an ex-MapleStory player, I can tell you RuneScape is a far cry from MapleStory in terms of prevention of botting, hacking, luring, etc. In MapleStory, you'll regularly see bots spamming, power-training. Real-world trading/account-to-account training is ridiculously easy - just a matter of dropping money in a secluded place at night or something and logging into another account to pick it up. Cheat codes could be activated easily - instructions were readily available on the Web. Scamming was widespread too. In RuneScape, cheat codes are practically unheard of, scamming/botting are rare nowadays, and real-world trading is extremely difficult.
  4. Your lack of reading skills shocks me. Sorry, but I'd rather not waste ten minutes of my life. And you'd rather waste five minutes making a pointless reply? If you didn't read the freaking topic, then DON'T POST, simple as that. Saves your time, saves the OP and others time trying to rebuke your stupid comments. nou What a [bleep].
  5. I don't get why people claim the second article is excellent. Luck is as important in RuneScape as in real life. Your real life situtation greatly affects your RS wealth and power. Someone who is a rich son or relative of some king or royalty or rich businessman who he will inherit his fortune from can play RS much longer than someone from a normal family who has to study hard for a good future. So how is luck not a factor in RuneScape? Simply put, your luck in real life influences the time you can spend playing RS and how powerful you are in it. As such, I fully disagree with the second article, as it is shortsighted and does not take into account how real life circumstances affect your ingame wealth and power.
  6. Ridiculous idea. You're trying to legalise real-world trading? Nobody should have an in-game advantage because they are rich. After all of Jagex's efforts to counter RWT, do you really think they'll just say "hey, let's just legalise it anyway!" Fat chance.
  7. Your post moved the thread up by a significant number of threads... <_< You're helping to keep it alive. Don't call me a hypocrite - when I posted the thread was at the top so I didn't really "bump" it.
  8. So by your logic, sharpening rune weapons and buffering rune armor will make killing Elvarg in F2P too easy. And sharpening/buffering the bronze/iron/whatever armor you're supposed to wear in Black Knight's Castle will make it too easy!
  9. People expect quests to hold their hand and walk them through? Hah. Then why are the quests continually getting harder and more challenging? Most high-levels don't rant a lot about difficulty of quests. Those noobs who say "I don't know how to do this quest" were there in RSC, but it's just that the community size has increased drastically and so they have become much more common.
  10. How is merchanting made harder with the implementation of the GE? The GE helps merchanting in many ways, from providing price graphs, drastically reducing time wasted on buying items, etc etc. If you're talking about buying stuff at low prices then scamming noobs by selling it at the max price possible, then that's NOT merchanting. That's just scamming and exploitation of other's lack of knowledge about the game. If you're a legitimate merchant the Grand Exchange is a godsend.
  11. Community worsened? So the departure of lurers and scammers worsened the community? Wow.

Then why is RuneScape one of the most successful MMORPGs, if most Jagex staff are mindless idiots? And saying all PMods are corrupt is a flat-out exaggeration. Or to put it bluntly, [cabbage]. I've met plenty of PMods who are nice people, and don't abuse their power, e.g. by muting or temp-banning people who argue with them. Yes most P-Mods are how you described them. But there are corrupt mods. There is no denying that. Just look at the leaked videos of the P-Mod Forums, and the "secret" surgery room. I'm not saying there AREN'T any corrupt P-Mods. There are always corrupt people, as long as there's power/wealth to gain from it. I don't know what wealth/power/sense of accomplishment you get from muting people unfairly, but that's besides the point. I'm just saying the majority of P-mods aren't corrupt. I'm not saying ALL are.
  13. At that time "Chemistry" was more "Alchemistry". Anyway, as Zaaps said, I think it would be better as an update to herblore/firemaking than an entirely new stand-alone skill. After all, isn't that what herblore/alchemistry is all about?

  15. No problem. It's your suggestion after all.
  16. Precisely what I wanted to say.
  17. Hmm...good point, I never thought of that. I think it's a good idea. It creates a cycle in the world of smithing, which is beneficial. It also will lower the price of ores since the demand for them is no longer as high, which is also good since their normal price is supposed to be below that of bars...

Being a low-level is a disadvantage, but it doesn't mean in any way that you're guaranteed to lose. Go practice hiding and running. Once you're good enough most high level players wouldn't be able to catch you regardless of how high their magic/melee/ranged level is.
  19. it does solve pjing, if u go out of combat u can shield up again, effectivly stopping the pjers that try and kill u in the mid of a fight (i personally hate these ppl above all else) , but yeh longer incombat times would stop them just as well, but i think there should be some form of defensive spell preparation for fight that would benefit vs rushers too, maybe lower tha 75 to 50 or even 30, it would be enough to put and end to LOL IM SUPER POTTED AND IN 350M GEAR AND UR IN RUNE AND HAVENT BEEN ASKED TO POT YET, GG NAB Are you blind or what? When you finish a fight, and you're trying to get the drops (especially so for mages and rangers), you'd get PJed before you can "shield-up". And what's the point of shield-upping other than to just block the first few shots of PJers or rushers? For normal battles, everyone would be taking shields, and all it does is just to lengthen battles.
  20. I don't see how this helps Adamant and below weapons. Everyone will still just be ignoring adamant (and below) weapons and just sharpening rune weapons. The only reason I can think of that people would want to sharpen adamant is so that when he/she fails to sharpen it the loss isn't as great.

Guess it's good to be suspicious by nature... Looks like you were really unlucky that those [wagon] somehow had a PMod friend who happened to come by and ban you... Power corrupts - that's why I feel it's unnecessary to have a PMod system. I would rather Jagex just get more JMods to patrol around and such. ----- Anyway, I don't understand why you chased after your friend when he had backstabbed you. You should have just left immediately, or teleported off.
  22. Will you people stop calling them "merch clans"? They're not "merchants", they're PRICE MANIPULATORS. For god's sake, there's a difference, in case you're too ignorant to know. Merchants don't work in clans, and they don't greatly affect prices or anything. They just buy low and sell high, and there is risk involved for them, and it is a legitimate way of making money since the more money they put/the longer they leave their money before a crash in prices, the greater the reward. Like PvP. Manipulators just gather lots of people and buy up a specific item, driving up the prices like crazy due to the huge lack of supply and great demand. Then, without telling the other members, the leaders just dump all the items they've bought back into the GE, and leave the poor members with worthless items or items worth much less than what they bought it for.
