The Best Way To End Rushers For Good
Anything goes in PvP. I find it really ironic that when the wilderness was removed, people exploded and flamed Jagex for removing their "freedom" (note this) and creating too much restrictions and what-not. Now when Jagex gives PvPers a less-restricted kind of bounty hunter, i.e the PvP worlds now, people are complaining about rushers and PJers and all that crap. Did PJers and rushers not exist in the old wilderness? Freedom comes at a price, so quit whining about it. ------ And anyway, I don't like your suggestion. It's like a 75hp food that cannot be consumed during combat. It gives a HUGE advantage to those with high enough magic, or those rich enough to buy the tablets or whatever. And sooner or later everyone's going to have the 75 hp food so it doesn't really make a difference in legitimate battles, and rushing someone with 99hp is just like engaging in normal combat with a sort-of element of surprise... Also, it doesn't solve the problem of PJing. Most PJers stay close to their target, and when their target kills his opponent, they jump in immediately (or as soon as possible) and try to kill their target. Most of the time you'd be PJed before you can consume the tablet (or rub it or whatever). My suggestion is a low-level spell that extends the "in-combat" time to 20 or so seconds so you get a chance to eat up and get your drops (and run if you're out of food or pots or whatever) before getting PJed.

Suggestions to Make RS More Role-Player Friendly
Your lack of reading skills shocks me. Sorry, but I'd rather not waste ten minutes of my life. And you'd rather waste five minutes making a pointless reply? If you didn't read the freaking topic, then DON'T POST, simple as that. Saves your time, saves the OP and others time trying to rebuke your stupid comments.

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
i support 100% firemaking can be so much more than making a fire to cook meat Yup, and even for fires, people rarely light them for a PRACTICAL purpose, other than the fires at the Barbarian village fishing area and a few other areas.

13-Jan-2010 - Hostile Spawn: Vengeance
It's significantly improved now. The old graphics reminded me of something like pokemon, but the new ones are much better. And without the eyes, when you enter a room or something and find a nest of aliens, it can be quite a shock. And now the aliens can "sprint" towards you! But of course you get some better stuff like the healing packs and you can hold more than 2 weapons.

Wow...2 void ranger helms...ffs
Jagex can't cater to every single person's mistakes. So because of your failure to double check before you bought the item you blame Jagex? So what do you want them to do? Make a pop-up every time before you buy something? Oh sorry, then you'll be flaming them for making the game too catered to kids. Absurd.

Frustration
Wow...I can't believe someone is so ignorant and stupid. You forgot some crap and such, get angry about wasting time and energy, then blame Jagex for it? Make a checklist, double-check before you go, whatever. It's not Jagex's fault that the the diary requires you to do such-and-such. Get over it, why waste time making a rant [cabbage]ting about it? Before I left for Crandor during Dragon Slayer, I forgot to bring my planks and nails. I went back to Draynor, got them, and returned, only to remember that I needed a hammer...

Suggestions to Make RS More Role-Player Friendly
@oXMutilateXo and Urbex: Shut the hell up with your trolling. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't say anything. ------- Anyway, about the bonuses: I'm not trying to make RS drastically more "class-based". It would just be a nice little bonus so some people who don't care about magic, only melee, for example, would be able to choose a character more suited to their needs. Isn't that precisely what role-playing is all about?
-
Suggestions to Make RS More Role-Player Friendly
I fully support this too. I would enjoy a more role-play kind of feel in RuneScape. ---- But what about some sort of bonus? E.g. a barbarian-type character will train strength more easily, but find it more difficult to train say magic or prayer. Something like that. It will be balanced by the fact that different characters have different strengths and weaknesses.

99 woodcuting
What 99 skills is easy? They all take time, effort, and money. Just because one is harder than another, it doesn't mean it is "easy". Easy is relative to the difficulty of the other 99s. So "easy" doesn't mean it's easy in general RS terms but "easy" in terms of skillcapes terms. If you know what I mean.

A Quick Access Bar For RS!
I don't see anything against the Quick Access Bar or the arrow key movement, BUT it has to be optional. Some people prefer the old system, and I for one would hate an arrow key movement system.

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
Right, RNGs are not perfect but redesigning the whole algorithm to be less random? I have no idea on how that would be possible. None. We don't even know if RNGs are used for random events, if we assume they are and every action you take is a "spin' of a wheel that determines random events then a random number generator would be used. Ok, so random number generators used by all your big companies are statistically random. Meaning that the repeated patterns are extremely hard to detect. The reason the wheel is different is that there isn't actually a wheel, it's a long chain of algorithms and basically once its determined that you're going to get a rare drop the drop rate of a "rarer" item goes up. Random events are different, we can't decrease their "drop-rate" because there isn't a base drop rate. I don't know what you're talking about. You claim there isn't a "base drop-rate". What is this? A calculator's built-in RNG generates random numbers from 0.000001 (or whatever) to 0.999999. So there is a probability of ANY of the numbers coming out, i.e. the "base drop-rate" you're talking about. So if we want a 1 in 1000 drop rate, we take the first four digits or something like that to determine the drop rate. There's completely no need to "redesign the whole algorithm". Let me give a simple example. There are 1000 different marbles labelled 1-1000 in a black bag, designed to function as an RNG for a X in 1000 drop rate. We can always increase the drop rate by increasing the value of X, i.e. by changing what counts as a "drop" from say 1 to 1-2 or whatever you want. Or we could halve the range by making 1-2 be equivalent to 1 or whatever. It's just a simple alteration in the criteria of a "drop".

Just need to vent a bit
I can sympathise with you regarding parental controls. They seriously suck. Luckily my parents don't have any such software. ---- Anyway, why didn't your grave save your torso? Was it some quest item or something?

No updates?
Seriously, give Jagex a break. They've been working their [wagon] off the whole year. Then they take a short vacation break and come back to see people whining about the lack of updates in a festive season week. How would YOU feel if you were in their shoes?

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
Sorry to be unable to reply for four days. Went for a 3D2N school orientation camp from 5-7 Jan, and had to go for an investiture ceremony on Friday. Anyway, enough about my personal life. Let's get down to business. Oh...nuclear physics. To make your sig show two horizontal images, just press enter after typing in the img code and start typing on the next line. I think Jagex would choose which parts of the update to be available for F2P and which available exclusively for members. I'm completely ignorant about computers and random numbers, but as I understand you're saying it's impossible for computers to generate TRULY random numbers. So it means RNGs are not perfect, and as such can be influenced by magic. There are theoretical concepts regarding thoughtwaves and the power of thought being able to affect RNGs and such. There are also some novels exploring such concepts like "The Lost Symbol". So if thought can theoretically affect randomness, magic can too, since magic is just thought-power. ------- I am not an expert of RuneScape. I don't know anything much about high-level updates. I could come up with theoretical ideas, but then you'd be criticising me for not "perfecting" my ideas and expecting others to do my work. So I thought I'd just save my time and concentrate on low-level stuff which I have a better grasp on. Regarding the last point, "near-random" is not "random". Spinning a wheel is also "near-random", provided there are no weights, the axle isn't rusty, etc etc. I don't get your point. A RNG is basically a computerised random-drop wheel, and as such, can be influenced by changing it's algorithm... The word "carbon" is severely overused. E.g. Carbon emissions are in fact CARBON DIOXIDE emissions. Carbon in my case refers to hydrocarbons, complex substances formed from plastics which come from crude oil which come from dead organisms' remains after being exposed to incredible pressure for millions of years. I apologise for not being specific enough. Let me warn you that I'm the wrong person to start a chemistry debate with. We are probably nearing the end of the iron age and beginning the plastic age. Plastics are extremely versatile and can be cheap crap used to make bottles, food containers, etc etc, or it can be extremely strong, light material many times as strong as steel. Plastic that is as strong as steel but much lighter Kevlar - Five times as strong as steel, weight for weight Your claims about bulletproof suits being no match for slashing weapons are [cabbage]. And if you need hardness as well as strength, this plastic's your choice. I've shown three examples of super-strong plastics. If you still aren't satisfied, go google "extremely strong plastics", "plastic stronger than steel" and such. I can guarantee you you'll find plastics that beat steel in practically every way that matters in war (obviously it comes at a price though). The only (not very significant) weakness is plastic's lower resistance to temperature, which could mean mages using fire spells do more damage against plastic than steel. ---- RuneScape is a fantasy game. Farfetched-ness is simply non-existent in such games. If you want to talk about plastics being overly modern or whatever, what about the grand exchange? Banks teleporting your items around wherever you want to access them? Continually updated systems for you to calculate your items' value? Precisely what I was talking about. Nothing in a computer program is completely random and impervious to influencing by changing it's algorithm. As such, I don't see why can't a ring cut in half the RNG's range of numbers or something to double chance or double it's range of numbers to halve chance.

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
I would personally prefer that the whole quest and area be available to F2P, but I would rather have something less "magnificient" done than nothing at all. But I suppose the decision lies with Jagex in the end. I don't really see how physics relate to biology and chemistry, but thanks for supporting anyway.

99 woodcuting
So do you want an easy but un-respected 99 or a difficult but well-respected one? Effort = reward.

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
Plastic is hardy. Ash is chemically similar to plastic, so it is TECHNICALLY possible to turn ash into plastic. Right, let's wear plastic armor and weapons. That makes better sense. You're on the right track trying to make ash more useful. Your current ideas, however, are downright ridiculous. Downright ridiculous? I suggest you go and read up more about plastics and nanotechnology and such before [cabbage]ting nonsense and making yourself look like an ignorant fool. Why don't I see policemen wearing steel bulletproof armor then? Why are all the high-performance bicycles, cars, and such made up of CARBON fibres, i.e. plastic? I could go on with tons of examples, but why should I bother wasting my time when you or some other idiot will probably ignore all of it and make some other stupid claims? I'm really sick of ignorant laymen trying to act like they know a lot insulting my work without any evidence to support their incredulous claims. @Zachneap and Hawkxs: Thanks for trying to defend me. A journey begins with a single step. An update for lower-levels will sooner or later result in a higher-level version of it for members or other experienced players. Look here - if a magical ring can increase the chance of an item dropping, another ring can also increase the chance of some magical guy popping out and requesting your help. It's like of 100 skeletons, 1 has some X drop. This ring makes another skeleton have this X drop. I don't see why another ring can't make a random event decide to pop up more often. And since you're apparently a "high-level player", why don't you try contributing instead of complaining? The best way to criticise is to show a better way of doing something.

17-Dec-2009 Bachelor Fridge & Forum Festivities
I think it's quite fun. WARNING -- SPOILERS To level up the ringer, give it tuna, cake and cheddar. It'll learn lob, first aid and jump, the only three decent skills for it. To get run, feed it a kebab. Run sucks though. ---- Anyway, I enjoy the trial-and-error in finding what food the creatures want. It just adds to the euphoria when your creature gets a new move. I agree that the game is irritating for F2P. My creatures keep saying they want XXX, but it ends up that the specific food in that XXX category is members-only... <_< Waste of at least $3 or more.

Reviving Firemaking - Ash equipment, charms, and more!
High level members, high level members. What is so great about them anyway? They've just spent more time on the game. Do they pay a premium to Jagex? No.I was merely pointing out a reason I didn't like it, I think that if you gonna "revive" firemaking you'll need more than low level updates. If Jagex wishes to update low-level members, they can. I'm just offering my suggestion for lower-level members/f2p. If Jagex feels that they should give higher-level members an update, so be it. I'm going to do what I want to do. I have no obligation whatsoever to make the update cater to higher-level members. If I want to write a suggestion for lower-level members, I will. If Jagex decides it isn't the update for them, then too bad. I can't do anything about it. Right, here's the thing, you can't revive a skill by providing low level items, this has been shown time and time again. I'm not saying that you have to "cater" to anyone, I'm saying that it isn't viable without some form of longterm goal or drive. So you're saying that firemaking is an amazing skill for low-level members? Fat chance. Firemaking is a near useless skill for all players, member or not, high level or not. I said this? When? Pretty sure I said that firemaking is useless in my post, I don't understand. And anyhow, I'm not interested in suggesting an update for high-level members. First, I don't have experience on high-level membership or even low-level members. Second, any update for high-level members will almost definitely not be opened to F2P, whereas low-level member updates might. This is the third time that you've said this. ---------- Regarding the trivial matters: Luck is related to magic. RuneScape is full of magic. I don't see why the hell can't a lucky charm increase/decrease random events from occuring. See, I don't think you understand. I never really mentioned luck. I don't really know why you started talking about magic. Magic that's the solution! Being random means that it doesn't have a correlation with anything! It's random! You want to correlate a charm with decreased random events, well by assigning numbers to them they no longer become random. You'd have to assign numbers to randoms to make this viable. My knowledge of random events makes me doubt the possibility of this. Afking can't be realistically solved. If you increase the rate of random events, people will complain that randoms caused them to lose drops, interrupt their training, etc etc etc. Decreasing the rate of randoms obviously doesn't solve it. Still, DECREASING the rate of randoms =/= removing randoms. There will still be a chance of random events occurring, just less often. Really, the only solution to AFKing is to create an "activity" bar, which will log out AFKers if they do not move their cursor for 30 seconds or some other length of time. See, I don't like making AFKing easier. This update does that. Are you debating this? I've already stated that ash armor has the same stats as rune armor, except it gives slightly less bonuses to ranged defense but doesn't subtract ranged bonus, allowing rangers to wear it. Anyhow, I'll put in the stats. Comments are in bold. Ok, two things. One, I'm a F2P mid-level player. How the hell do you expect me to try and design some high-level equipment, most probably members'? I don't have any experience regarding high-level equipment for members. So do you want me to go all out and throw out some random ideas for high-level equipment, for which I don't know a clue about? I'd probably get flamed by some other people for spouting nonsense on a topic I don't know a thing about. That's the precise reason why I don't want to waste my time and energy trying to create some members' high level equipment. If you want to contribute, go ahead. Just let me get it straight that I have nothing against introducing high-level equipment for members. It's just that I have no experience. If you think you're up to the job, go ahead and let me know. If I think it's good enough I'd put it up. Luck is magical and arcane. Magic is highly unpredictable and luck-based. Not really so in RuneScape, but so what? Why are all "lucky charms" considered magical then? Never heard of emphasising points by repeating them? Unfortunately repetition doesn't seem to work on you.

Can I have my credit, please?
OK, I understand your point but I'm talking about the people tell their levels right afterwards to make the other person feel bad. If they don't care, they shouldn't be sharing their levels then. It's not intentional most of the time. It's just a subconscious part of the person that impulsively "forces" him to type out "my AA level is BB". It's part of human nature that likes to belittle others to boost one's ego. If you tell them to stop it or something most of the time they'll probably apologise. Only the minority "bully" personalities would continue. On the internet though, minority becomes majority.
-
Can I have my credit, please?
I think you're making a mountain out of a big, fat molehill - but still a molehill... Anyway, I still see plenty of people say gratz or congrats or whatever when you say "woot level XX!!". I'll admit that I don't congratulate people all the time, but at least I don't try to belittle people by saying my even higher stats (if applicable). Either I keep quiet or say something positive. Furthermore, people saying "my XX level is YY" are just being human. Humans are rude, boastful, and like to make themselves feel better by belittling others, and boosting their ego. I'm not saying everyone is an obnoxious braggart, but more than half of people you meet in real life are. And sad to say, on the internet that percentage jumps exponentially.
