Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Sorry, I should've posted that last night but it slipped my mind (got pulled into the flame war). No, they've yet to post anything else on the 'compromise.'

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Okay, let me put this into context for everyone. That post by Mod Emilee was made in response to the thread owner's 3 options for a fix to the Icewyrms. Those options were: 1. Nothing will be changed 2. The fire cape requirement will be removed. 3. A compromise will be instituted, such as an alternative piece of equipment. SO! Having said that, Mod Emilee chose number 4; a non-existing option. THEREFORE, the fire cape is going to STAY because she didn't choose number 2, but there will be something else done. So quit whining by whining about others whining, it's boring. Also, take a look at most of the RSOF's posts against the fire cape, and you'll find they aren't quite as whiny as you think (other than some of Qeltar's comments), but actual constructive feedback. What else do you want them to give? Once again, I could care less, but I thought it was necessarily to at least put that Mod post into context.

Slaying Waterfiends
Honestly I'd just skip. If you're not willing to use a Z-spear or SS then I'd consider skipping, or even banning them. I'll leave the weapon spot blank, but my equipment is usually Karil body/skirt, Dragon Boots, Fury, Barrow Gloves, and Slayer helm. While I use Unicorns now, previously I brought a Bunyip and about 40-50 scrolls for raw drops. I usually bring some good food anyway in case they hit hard consecutively, and I flash piety instead of using protect prayers.

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
I think it's most likely because the goal of all Slayers seems to be to kill the monsters that drop shiny things (10m+ staff sound familiar?). I'm quite sure anybody excluded via the fire cape wouldn't be happy with that. While I'm trying to remain unbiased here, you've gotta look at it from a hardcore Slayer without a fire cape's perspective; "I already have the level to kill those but a minigame is preventing me!?" Can you see where the hubbub begins at least?

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
I don't know. I'm indifferent at this point. I understand the point of keeping high requirements, but I also don't think Slayer should be about boss fights. Even if it's optional, I'm happy some people made a stand so as to sort of stamp out the initial stages of this trend. If they let us kill them with an option other than the fire cape, fine, otherwise, oh well guess I won't be able to fight a Slayer monster I'm apparently supposed to be able to kill. Because in the eyes of everyone else apparently I don't deserve my Slayer level simply because I can't kill, nor want to kill Jad. I think that Fire cape owners should get an advantage at least, but I don't want bosses in Slayer. I do think that everyone pro-fire cape is over-reacting a little bit. From what I've seen of most of the anti-Jad posters, they do have some sort of valid argument and have tried Jad numerous times. I think there's even a 40-year old on there, and I think he really needs a hug after this past week and a half. So I guess we'll see what's what tomorrow. Either way I don't care anymore.

Almost 200M exp in Runecrafting O.o!
According to my friend who Runecrafts with him occasionally, Odin uses the ZMI altar and gets about 60k xp/hr using his mad techniques. I guess he wears full Armadyl while doing it (99 Agility must be awesome Run recovery). One can only wonder what he'll do next after that last 6m xp.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
I REALLY hope they don't change it. I feel the same way. I'll be pretty angry if they do. I don't understand why anyone with level 93 slayer or higher wouldn't already have a fire cape. It's not that I don't have the stats, it's simply that my connection speed really messes with my Prayer switching, so really I've resigned myself to the fact that I simply won't ever be able to get a fire cape while my internet is what it is. Honestly, I'd rather they change it to something else fiery. I mean, do they really expect us to gather our capes in a bunch and slap the thing? :^_^:

Tanking Bandos
Personally I prefer Rocktails now, but that's just because I like keeping my Attack and Strength boosted. Basically just keep your hp above 63 (from my experiences). Graardor's Range attack might max in the 30's, but being hit by that and the minion's attacks at the same time can often have bad results. I'd also recommend getting 99 Defence so you won't have the chance of another tank ousting you from a potential team because of his/her Defence level. Good luck!

LOCK please.
Yew seeds are already 138k and now this rumor is just going to ruin my 99 plans... At least I have 200 palms and 180 yews to tie me over til then. I'm going to stick by the line "pics or didn't happen." :shame:

29-Jan-2010 - Clan Blog and Clan Celebration Month
Interesting. But why are agents of the community (aka Jagex Moderators) only listening to leaders? Would you rather have them just say "hey this is clan month" without getting any sort of opinion from clans? Since it's out in the open now, the CL forum has been planning this for a good 2 months, and because of that a good majority of clans passing Jagex's application system have been able to provide a lot of input on the subject. Don't think of it as only listening only to leaders, this is just their little test pool for ideas. Besides, they asked for input on a number of things and did not say that we couldn't ask our clan members, and I saw a lot of leaders posting thoughts on behalf of their members.

29-Jan-2010 - Clan Blog and Clan Celebration Month
I hope this goes off without a hitch. Mod Kathy and Timbo have been working hard in the Clan Leader forum to get everything just right.

Clan Chat Problem
Turn off the clan chat by using the "disable" feature in the clan setup menu. Then wait a minute (make sure everyone's out of the CC including yourself), and then enable it again. See if that works, it has for me and the other clan leaders so far.

Bullroarers in the GE
Personally, I find it hilarious. I only use my sounds for TDs and perhaps a new quest. I just get a kick out of all the non-questers' demands to know what it is. Even after being exposed to long periods of roars it never ceases to amuse me, but then again I just find it funny how people in Runescape make their own norms and mores. The minute someone breaks one, somebody gets frustrated.

Which is your favorite 'Abyssal Whip' color ???
I like yellow in that it matches some of my capes' trims. I'll switch to green once I'm done with Farming though.

19-Jan-2010 - Barbarian Assault Improvements
...? .....? I agree with you in that the vast majority of players at least like a part of this update. Everyone should like the horn, no reason not to other than being stubborn.

20 - Jan 10 - The Orb of Oculus
--- Looks awesome. I can't wait to see all the different angles we'll get. Could hopefully be used to get some spoilers.

[Devblog] 18-Jan-2010 - A 2009 Retrospective
These hints at a new skill without giving any real information are really starting to annoy me. Either way, looking forward to the new competitions.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
>.< I saw that Genworth5 was underneath Armeng90 and immediately assumed that he just maxxed (obviously Armeng90 just passed him in total exp.). And GL Maur irl. I'm not going to yell at you for what you've said because I respect your thoughts and I have no right to tell you otherwise. It was nice meeting you. ^_^ Yeah, Genworth pretty much doesn't play anymore, as he told me a while ago his habits were getting in the way of the wife and kids. Best of luck to him. Also, Mauranius I agree with the majority of what you said. In my opinion the best update F2P got all year was removing those stupid Gnomecopters and the pickpocket options.

What if Jagex added an Offline option?
The main issue here is that there will be no competition for this player to gather resources or fight bosses. It would also require them to put Runescape on something other than a server, because I don't think they'll want to set up worlds for 1 person only to use at a time. Really, while it may seem a fun idea, I don't think it's in the spirit of the game, which appears to emphasize competition to solve scarcity.

11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
Well, I beat him after 2 serious tries (first time I just died on purpose). I'm quite surprised at all of the elaborate armour choices people used. I beat him in a Dwarven Helmet and Black D'hide body and chaps. I used a whip and switched between it and a DDP++ for specs (the special is an easy 35+ hit). I had Barrows Gloves, Bandos boots, Fury, and a Dragon Square Shield. With a Yak full of Brews and Rocktail, he went down pretty easy. Hopefully this cape comes in handy for Dark Beasts/Mith Dragons.

KBD and Dragon Med made F2P?
I think that the KBD would be a difficult move, because members would have a riot with everything needed to come with it. I think the mole is perfectly reasonable, as it seems pretty adaptable for F2P. F2P should get Energy Potions with this update, as members have no need for them with the Agility update this summer. The reward for hides and claws should be altered to GP, Ores, and Runes. Also, Attack and Defence potions could be F2P, as pretty much everyone in members uses Supers. Just give the Apothecary in Varrock an option to make those besides Strength potions, and we've walked around the Herblore issue. The Dragon Med helm is currently obsolete, let's face it, and keeping it members is only going to push it further up the "items-to-alch-on-sight" list. Making it F2P would save it, and then we could perhaps give Hellhounds an actual use for free players? And if they absolutely have to have a weapon along with it, I think the Dragon Spear qualifies well as it seems to be in the same position as the D Med. So really, the mole and the D med wouldn't be near as bad as some people make it out to be. We members just need to realize that once F2P has a boss monster, it'll wake up quite a few people that there's more to be had in members. Also, we need to realize that when they update F2P, they're updating the WHOLE game's look for once.

Stupid rabbit foot
Bah...Ivy pretty much killed the skill anyway. I'd rather it provided much lower income than actual trees.

Mourning's End Pt. 2
In theory it would work, but I really can't say for sure. An Omni-talisman works I know.

21-Dec-09 Christmas 09 Event
It was quite unnecessary. Honestly it disgusts me looking at the RSOF responses. Members are using the "no P2P on F2P" argument to hide the truly snobbish and selfish personalities that they possess. I feel ashamed to have actually posted on there regularly with the lack of holiday spirit I'm seeing now. Jagex really needs to stop allowing this... :shame:
