    9/11 attacks

I was in highschool when it happened, my computer app 2 class, hitting on this cheerleader named crystal when we were told. I remember being angry - and scared (will i go to war? will i die?) Needless to say, it was a tragedy that probably defined American politics for the last decade, almost half of my life. It's certainly one of those events you will never forget where you were when it happened in your lifetime. 9/11 this year? I'm working from 9-5 pulling a rare Saturday shift.
  2. I have the luxury of knowing multiple people who book cons. Great people, typically great shows, but I can honestly say typically only San Diego Comic Con has a big enough name for people to rush in blind, and thats with a decade of dominance. as a 9 year player, had the con been on my side of the pond, I can tell you Jagex doesn't inspire $75, or $50 worth of confidence to buy in blind. Just because you can make a game, doesn't mean you can do a convention. Backwards logic. Oh? I'm sure other things happened to fulfill those sterotypes ;)
  3. and open for business, thanks to Forsakenmage Don't spam guys, it's bad
  4. I'd like to think our process is a bit more sophisticated, but i'm venturing into a sticky trap here that's going to be difficult to post professionally without bringing in staff matters into this, but since you already have...May as well forge an attempt at a reply at an attempt to clear up the bitter misinformation We hire alot of moderators for forums that are NOT abandoned - these individuals are selected based on post quality, perceived maturity and a myriad of other factors like timezone, where they post, how active they may be,and to an extent forum history. True abandoned forums sometimes do spawn mods that defy these typical expectations due to a severe lack of talent, but that's rarely, and seldom the case, I'd say the last true risk taken at mod was modding a multiple time banned user in the clan section, which turned out to be me. In retrospect, looking at your application, the story about "18 months modding without any powers" bit was never mentioned on the app comments, you were selected due to your writing ability, seemingly unbridled dedication, love of and passion for that forum, I'd wager we probably throw out people who act like you describe as "mods without power" more often than not. Anyways, while your style was different, we harbor a large amount of styles on our team, let's not misinform the public - Because i'm not going to discuss staff happenings here. Period, Nor are you. Period. During your tenure i'll give you the respect that you ran the Tavern to the best of your ability and i'll even say it flourished and done well, but I really think your attitude has been abysmal ever since you resigned. You're better than running around posting angry and bitter posts, lets see that intelligence, that creativity, that love for roleplay. ~Das
  5. I reply as a collector, a frequent attendee of Sports Card and Memorabilia conventions and Comic cons. I must say, I found parts of the article downright rude, and shortsighted and elitist at best. I'm going to address a few of your comments I've been to countless cons - Sports ones typically are a bunch of men dressed in jerseys with deep wallets and it looks exactly like a sporting event, for the most part, those are not bad, but the sterotypes about sweaty fat guys who smell being at sports card shows? yep? poor hygiene? yep. Those shows bring out the best and worst in the community for dealers and collectors, but my main counterpoint is a comic con. People often dress up and at the last one, you saw everything from Ash (Army of darkness, not the pokemon guy) to Ghostbusters to some winged creature from Labyrinth or dark crystal. Are the conventions full of awesome people? Yes, i've met some cool people at cons, but i've also had enough with other people (iE: People who do not share your interests or women in general) to know a large majority of people would label your average con goer - a nerd, and you know what? we are nerds, and we don't care. I can honestly say i've never seen someone so defensive over a con sterotype. You went to a video game con, you're a nerd, period. stop trying to convince yourself that you're not, because it's a sterotype that comes with con-going. I have to confess, the thought of a runescape con, even made me shudder considering the demographic, and i've seen some pretty crazy anime and comic cons. Actually typically labeling from con's comes from fairly accurate stereotypes and misunderstandings more than anything. You must not do many cons, at all. Lets take a look at dragoncon, two hours away from me, had some nice guests like Brandon Routh and Summer Glau - but I didn't go because it would of been $50 to get in on Saturday, The day I could go...Before you call me poor, or a cheapass, let it be known money isn't a thing with me, since I spent triple that between Star Wars Celebration 5, and a nice vintage milla jovovich autograph in the past month knowing full well both guests would be at Dragoncon. Why? Because Dragoncons guest list wasn't strong enough for my interests to get me into the door for the fee. It was a poor opportunity cost to attend. Some points to consider. 1) Most con's publish the events and itinerary, perks and features well in advance. Example? http://www.pitofhorror.com/campblood/ <- thats may 2011 with pretty much a finalized guestlist. The end result, I've already set aside some cash in my collecting budget for may 2011. The price for runefest, was steep for a con thats in it's first year with so many vague details, as an avid con-goer - if the thing would of been held an hour from me - I would of waited for details before buying the ticket. I can't blame people for doing that, I also can't blame people for being miffed they refunded the price or made it free. It's a tough economy for some, and the collecting market is feeling the pinch as prices are lower than normal and people are spending less, Had dragoncon of been free, I would of went, but at $50? the opportunity cost just wasn't worth it at all considering I can maximize my collection AND entertainment with known quantities. Blindly pissing away money to support a venue or new con is beyond stupid. Why should they? I went to a fun smaller con a few months prior, and heard lots of people complaining who were new to conventions, Did I get annoyed? nope, it happens as people encounter and experience things for the first time or two. Perhaps you should lighten the hell up. ~Das
  6. Who the hell are you? First time seeing you posting on this section. I think everyone here is just expressing their opinions, troll or not some of them are true. He's a global mod (A good one at that) who is taking an interest in the clan world. The clan staff is the mod team who will handle these parts of the forums - a moderator or admin must be trained to deal with the daily "Excitement" and "entertainment" on these these boards. ie: Cowman or Rainyday both are trained in clans. The only other time you will see a non clan staff mod modding in here is when adbots or porn is around, or something big like that. In the meantime, anyone from hardcore pvper's to oldschool clanners to those curious are most welcome here. ~Das

  8. The coder who was working on the project had to resign and due to some real life commitments. Due to some upcoming changes in the site which are pretty exciting and awesome, the existing code had to be scrapped , The project is not abandoned and although it's delayed, we sre still working on ways to get this awesome and needed project out. If someone is interested in coding, PLEASE message me.

  13. *smirks* Why thank you

  14. I'm guessing you're trying to make a statement on technology educating us as to how the world works - then being unsatisfied with knowing how the world works, it loses it's appeal of being round and the earth is flat again as we try to break down simple facts of science into smaller parts?

  15. Pmed you guys league info. We will shoot foro a autodraft this weekend, and more players are welcome
  16. A Lions fan... I'm sorry. They'll go 9-7 this year. Amyways. 17. *Puts his Xbox Controller Down* Uhh- I like runescape, but I think I speak for alot of gamers when I say, I like and support multiple games, and even if I did quit this godforsaken game, i'd still like to keep in touch with all of the awesome people i met playing it. WoW has more paying members, and if it was browser based - would smash rs in that graph. PERIOD. However, for a browser based game, that started off with crap graphics, and a small world, 9 years later you cannot deny how strong this game is. Runescape has outlasted alot of MMO's and kept a large memberbase while other MMO's have dwindled.. Runescape also has the lowest specs of any MMO , easiest way to access it (Browser) and it's the cheapest which keeps it in mind for many different types of gamers from Casual, to budget conscious (both hardware and fees) to people who cant install games at work or school, but can play in a browser. Runescape will probably never "smash" Wow, but to be an inferior game to your average gamer (graphics, gameplay, controls, filter, etc) - it holds its on. People like me, have played this game for so long, we don't really have much excitement for it anymore, personally, The new star wars MMO? I'm excited for it in a big way, and it would take a major annoucement from runescape, to get me to even bat an eye. - it's unrealistic to expect new quests and minigames to keep people hooked. New skills are fun, but they do dull fast. ~Das
  18. I know a high majority of my posts are in here. But I'm just saying, as a roleplayer and forum goer, I could care less about post count and I don't see why the taking away of count in the Tavern is an issue to a couple of the others. I meant my reply towards TheKingdomOfSpork ; I personally would be fine with disabling postcount forum wide. Roleplayers don't need it, no one does really. It's awesome you feel the way you do about postcount, it's not like you could possibly say anything else more awesome...wait.. I stand corrected :P Seriously though. I say this as a guy who is like 95% clans/general/off topic - you guys have ALOT of leniancy in whats considered spam or off topic here - and it's cool, It's become a part of the atmosphere - which is one reason post count was disabled. Personally i'd rather everyone enjoy themselves and not get an epic high postcount - than us crackdown on the forums for no valid reason
  19. Close to 70% of your posts are in this forum though, Trust me when I say this has a much more lenient conversation style posting than say general or OT.

  23. the NFL season is soon approaching, I was wondering if we wanted to do a 10-20 team league on yahoo sports? I'd be willing to see if i can horns-waggle the admins into a custom rank contest out of it... Any NFL fans interested?
