28-Feb-2012 - Squeal of Fortune
Good question but I'm personally hoping it operates the same way the green-skin does.

I don't think anyone is denying that, but it would only impact things that are like...100m+ because how frequently they're traded, right? And even that is questionable.

Regarding "RuneScape Status"...
I can't really agree about the privacy concerns - you conceal your privacy much better by omitting your rsn altogether - but this would be neat to do regardless.

The impact will largely be stupid-player panic, as always.

Eugh really?? That's stupid. I almost always play on filter, but I would still like to see announcements. They should be controlled via the control settings, not Game Filter :(

I thought that was for the unique prizes like the face tatoos. But if that's true, then thankfully people won't need to complain.

Fletching question and xp/hr
How would this method not be for him? Making 100m isn't *that* difficult, considering that MTK and dailies are pretty much level independant and anyone can make 1m/hr at greens/blues or such. Because the OP posted this: Besides that, raising 20-30mil to raise a skill isn't so bad, but 100mil can be quite tedious and fletching is tedious enough as it is.

I'd imagine the chances for obtaining those big things would be a bit like winning big at a scratch-off ticket.

That's actually pretty ingenious and I like it! This update doesn't hold much interest for me, but it sounds neat. It wasn't announced in the BTS so I wasn't expecting it. A decent surprise.

Brackish blade is extremely underrated. (Possibly better than korasi!)
How does it compare to the dragon dagger, which also requires 60 attack to wield and is substantially cheaper?

Future Update Discussions
You're completely right but considering the past couple of skills they released, which are strong and independant, I think they're looking to avoid the next Firemaking-woodcutting-fletching debacles. (Aka, multiple skills that are released for the sake of it but offer poor content) Things like Animal Husbandry is already covered by summoning, engineering already covered by construction really, archaeology covered by mining and many minigames, etc. You're completely right though that unique skills are possible though. And I can't wait for it XD

Ugune Herb Farming
Wait.... what? farming juju = 3 doses 1 dose = 5mins If you just farm 1 patch of juju herbs it's 1 dose per harvest you only need the juju effect to earn 1 herb in 3 patches to break even on making the potion, 2+ to better off; which given average herb yields its virtually impossible to not do better than that. I think what you're trying to say is that: If you're starting your farming run at the HH patch, using an ugune dose and moving on to 4 other patches, then what you harvest as a "bonus" from your other patches should be over 3 to compensate for not using the effect on your Trollheim patch. (excluding Remote Farm/Trollheim Lunar Tele) So, to make it worth the 'sacrifice' of excluding one of your money-making patches from your run, you should hope to harvest at least 3-6 bonus herbs for it to be "worthwhile" to start your run at HH. But to say that you will 'break even' on making the potion is needlessly confusing; you're not harvesting 4 different ugune patches. The average harvest is 8 roughly, true, but you are very likely to harvest less ugune than that regardless of the juju boost. It is very possible to not get any bonus hits with the juju, especially when you add patch deaths into consideration, so also saying it's "virtually impossible to not do better" isn't always correct.

I'd be interested in reading the transcript from that supposed interview. And since it is impossible for them to ever finish these bot battles, I don't think your 'eventually' will ever come - not while we're playing at least. ...what? Do you have any of these other 'many examples' because I'm afraid I don't think your primary one fits the description you're hoping for. I realize we're getting off topic but I'm having trouble believing your reasoning.

That's not true. They never stopped working on anti-bot measures and are preparing the next batches of small bot-breaking things as well as projects like Bot-Nuke and Optimus. Bot memberships are still being 'recycled' back into their bottom-lines and they're still there. No one ever spun their chair from one desk to another to say, "Well I'm done breaking bots, let's go make a quest." They're two different things entirely and until we have information to the contrary, that's a faulty assumption. Also untrue, partially anyway. Those misconceptions that you see there are the exact reason why an article like that might be interesting, but the author would have to be willing to actually research it instead of drawing upon his own knowledge, which already demonstrated by yourself might be flawed.

Screen shots & video recording?
I enjoy using Gadwin Printscreen (free version). They're pretty clear, the program is lightweight. It's nice.

Mailing Service
I always thought a mailing service would be a neat way to utilize that delivery place in ardy.

Oh god major derp on my part, you're absolutely right. Really embarassed. I guess I'm trying to get at is two things: first, armor releases are pretty consistent, even if it's just one piece, every 3-4 months or so for all ranges; second, just because more armors and weapons are being released doesn't necessarily mean you'll see a change in the average player's play style. If we're talking about that sort of 'game changer' - off the top of my head being things like barrows, bandos, culi gloves, neit helms, drag defenders, chaotics - they don't come very often at all. We can go anywhere from 3 months to a year without seeing significant updates that change the average player's style. Like, off the top of my head, we had the release of the defenders (at the time only up to rune) and it took half a year until we saw barbarian assault released with the fighter's torso offering one of the best strength-boosting tops at the time. It's not really that they neglect to do so for any individual group, it's just that they do try to consider balance and feasibility. Not to mention, they usually come with significant content releases. Things like big quests, minigames, and so on. We've seen a pretty big trend in high level content though over the past year. I think it's creating the illusion that there are groups being excluded, since these updates are practically torn apart in a frenzy of either love or hate by the almost exclusive mature and high leveled players that frequent fansites...or are simply the loudest.

I also can't really agree with that. [set=head:11864,body:11866,legs:11865] Grifolic armor, level 55 def and magic to wear, better than mystic (which is pretty mid-tier) with defence stats. Released November 2011 [set=head:11756,body:11760,legs:11758] Akrisae armor, level 70 def to wear, great combination of pray and magic boost for longer trips. Released September 2011. [set=weapon:11158] Brackish Blade, 60 attack to wield and completion of A Clockwork Syringe. Cheap stab weapon below Zam spear. Released March 2011. And this is with a very casual glance, I'm sure anyone who looks more detailed would find greater examples, too.

Botting in Runescape
You're latching onto one part of his message (the difficulty of breaking a type of bot and the difficulty of maintaining it) and ignoring everything else while being equally sour and pessimistic in your own way - except it's towards fellow members of the community. You think somehow that just because a person is realistic, that it should wash away the good will Jagex has gathered by at least presenting a concentrated effort. It doesn't. On one hand you'll listen to Jacmob and believe that bots will be removed and on the other hand you say that you know not all bots will be removed. You say that it took a long time for bots to be re-established, yet really all it did was take time for screen scraping and color pickers to become easiest botting option considering what they faced. For every bot we see by the name of 'xsegadsgej,' there are many others who are 'botting smart' - taking breaks, switching scripts, not botting while being investigated, having "normal" names, etc. I'm just...confused why anyone would get upset for being realistic. I'm confused as to why people automatically assumes they're part of the Anti-Jagex Hate Machine. I'm confused why, after so long of this ongoing discussion topic, we still have these kinds of discussions.

Flipping is available to all levels, and is a strong source of income for many of today's players. Dailies can net you almost 750k-2mil a day. Graahking nature runes can make you decent cash at the cost of 42 RCing and 57 summoning. Monster hunting, like killing Fiyr Shades for [item=3424], nets handy profit. Even converting sacred oils is a decent moneymaker. All mid-level and easily accessed content. And I didn't even scratch the surface. I've seen you vilify higher level players repeatedly as some gigantic wall of China blocking your ability to make money and train skills when it's simply not true. Have you considered other moneymaking methods besides things like Bandos or Tormented Demons? It seems like that's the only thing that ever comes to mind for people anymore. It's saddening. There are plenty of ways to make cash that don't involve direct competition. Even then, there are other money makers with low to moderate competition.

The Elder Kiln
Any prayer has the ability to trigger it, that is true. I didn't say every attack round, you did. EDIT: I see what I goofed on. I should have been saying frequency. Oh well, you had your mistake, and I had mine! My bad.

Mousekeys for Mac?
Well that's not what you had asked. :P And that's also listed there, on how to adjust the speed at which the mouse moves from point to point. Do trial and error to find an acceptable speed.

The Elder Kiln
That is poorly phrased, because praying at all will trigger his stomp. So no, that's not the correct way to phrase it as Howlin already pointed out. To add on to his explanation, I prayed magic with the intention of blocking damage from the lava monsters, while tanking Dill's melee-based attacks, and he will still frequently use stomp. It doesn't take very long to kill a Dill, and it seems like a lot less hassle to simply pray mage and take the 200 every 5 seconds or so or if you're that concerned, to bring magic def armor to switch into? I personally tanked and it didn't really hurt me too much. And considering every room where you face combat triggers a checkpoint on completion, you don't lose things on death, and you pop out straight to a bank, food consumption honestly isn't an issue.
