XP Multiplication: How Do You Like It?
Combat tends to be some of the most popular skills though, percentage-wise. It would make sense for them to demo such implementation that way, with content that involved boss hunting (one of the more popular ways of making money) rather than skilling and puzzles, which tend to go hand in hand. I'm fairly confident that if they chose this route of awarding bonus exp, that they would expand it beyond simply combat. Or at the very least if they don't, enough people would argue against it that they would include it after receiving feedback.

Females playing RS?
I don't get this anymore since I've trained up to higher levels. However when I'm on my range pure, which is only a puny 40 CMB, I get this a lot more frequently by other lower-levels. I know that level isn't really an indication of age nor maturity but...I don't know. That's the trend I've noticed lately.

XP Multiplication: How Do You Like It?
Interesting topic--I had a similar idea of a topic like this for days but I'm a lazy SOB and just never posted XD! I always thought it was interesting that in the Behind the Scenes for January when talking about the Hati wolf they said the following: "Think of it as a Bonus XP Weekends worth of combat XP, but wrapped up in a set of warm, wolf-skin combat gloves." I think they were testing out this route of awarding double exp rather than a weekend dedicated to such a thing. I loved the idea of gloves giving the same amount of bonus that you would've reaped during the double exp weekend. I don't really agree with the 'won't ruin the economy' statement, because even double xp weekend only offers the smallest blip in short term pricing. Items such as these that last so long would cause a longer, though less drastic, increase in prices for whatever they boost until they 'expire'. I also like it that it allows for people with more hectic schedules to reap the rewards of bonus EXP. I've missed nearly two of these events for that precise reason, and my schedule is that of the average college student's. If they continued down this route in a way that offers the same bonus to skills--be they character developement, production, or otherwise--I would be absolutely thrilled. Overall it's a more versatile, more useful, and more entertaining way to offer these perks. The downside of it is they'd have to find a way to develop content to bring these items into the 'world'. But I'd give up a quest update every now and then in favor of something like this every few months!

Help & Advice Suggestion
Some quests are so damn complex that it's quite easy to make a small mistake and not be able to proceed...has absolutely nothing to do with being illiterate and everything to do with simply being human. It's kind of insulting to suggest otherwise simply because one might feel that simple mistakes are beneath them when in fact everyone makes those mistakes from time to time. Plus, especially with the influx of incorrectly posted topics in General Discussion that should've been in H&A, I would bet you'd see just as many incorrectly posted topics in H&A as opposed to being in their shiny new subforum. On the whole, it wouldn't solve much of this 'problem', not that there's really any problem to begin with...

Has High Level Equip Recovered?
Well Bandos and the like are still dropping, so I'd say no. Might be wrong. Just going off the charts though.

2nd Runescape Novel Return to Canifis, coming out in March!
He implied that reading books were bad? Or simply that he didn't like reading books and didn't enjoy the runescape merchandising being shoved down our gullet? I thought it was the latter, not the former. Of course, maybe I just didn't read it properly. '-'

- 2nd Runescape Novel Return to Canifis, coming out in March!
You're right, he should know more about the game mechanics than the lore and details of the 'world' RuneScape is set in. I'm sure a book about efficiently training smithing would be a riveting tale.- /obt/
- Changes to Lunar 'other' spells in single-way combat
Eloquent as always (no sarcasm!), it summed up my thoughts precisely. I can't imagine them NOT fixing this silly under-the-rug update soon given the grief it will cause.- Giant Earthquake hits Japan
There are rumors that the creator of Pokemon, Satoshi Tajiri, died today. Seems trivial since 1) it's simply a rumor 2) hundreds of others have died today, but it's interesting to note. Still waiting for confirmation, since Nintendo released a statement earlier today that everyone was alright in their teams.- Giant Earthquake hits Japan
Does it suck less when it's a "less advanced" country? Hope the death toll stays pretty low...they're saying it's in the 40's at the moment. http://bajansunonline.com/japan-earthquake-live-200-to-300-bodies-found-in-sendai/ It's getting worse as time goes on. A tsunami is supposedly hitting Hawaii now as well.- Green Dragons - Chaos Tunnels?
Nah, don't be sorry. We love our sarcasm here. Don't be offended. :P- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
No, those I didn't forget. People usually resort to those methods to solely make money, not as a direct means to train the skill. They choose to challenge themselves that way and instead of money being the most difficult component, yes, time becomes the difficult part. However, most people don't train that way because the time together spent making money elsewhere and buying the product are usually half that of the more tedious methods. Now there is even less incentive to take such slow, plodding routes like that because of updates like these. And when that happens, those that choose the hard, medium, or fast paths of training buyable skills such as these all come out in the wash when updates like these are created.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
In comparison to the other skills that don't have price tags associated with it, 30 hours to obtain a 99 is a pittance. The true difficulty used to lie in gaining all that money, which was quite a feat of dedication. I understand the point you're making. Buying it doesn't automatically give you the exp and there is still a time component involved, I agree with that. I just don't feel that it was ever the main focus of that sort of skill because there was a very broad option of training methods there that other, generally considered more 'tedious/difficult' skills, didn't have available to them. Still, good point though.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
I don't understand why people argue that making money isn't hard, or even a challenge anymore, yet on the same vein of discussion argue that updates like these cheapen the skill as a whole by lessening its 'challenges'...when its only challenge was the price tag to begin with. The argument holds water for skills like Thieving or Agility, where the only challenge lies in the time invested, but not for buyable skills such as smithing or herblore. Meh I still hold that this was a pretty amazing update.- A Song of Ice and Fire's next installment given concrete release date
A NOTE ABOUT SPOILERS: This topic is discussing the 5th book in a series and could potentially reveal vital plot details that could very well ruin it for you if you haven't read up to A Feast of Crows! Read at your own risk. For those who don't know, the last book released in this series was back in 2005. Many of the fans questioned Martin's ability to complete the series in a satisfying manner given all the delays. With his recent wedding, the release of a tv adaptation of this masterpiece, and other setbacks, I was dead certain he wasn't going to finish. But finally... http://www.georgerrmartin.com/if-update.html- Looting
I think once, a year or two ago, I looted a corr. dscim and logged to bank it. But I felt so ashamed that I never did it again. The mil gained from that didn't outweigh the guilt.- A New Possible Form Of ACing
That's exactly what I was going to post. P2P levers are virtually an obsolete method of returning, even moreso since canoeing is now f2p and there are axes there to use. Clans frequently war in the deep wilderness, but this opens them up to outside participants crashing them. Therefore many clans request other clans 'anticrash' (AC) their fight in order to keep it as clean as possible to better determine the winner. While AC'ing doesn't strictly apply in this case, because when a clan member is returning they are not part of the fight, meaning killing them isn't strictly 'crashing'--he's trying to say that a small team of pkers could protect the paths that clans used to use to return to deep wilderness fights by pking those who wish to disrupt returners for free loot.- deadly red spiders
Welcome to tipit, Darklord. Open mouth, insert foot.- FFFUUU Comic about the returning of wildy.
I didn't really enjoy it. Too much buildup for something that would've only been relevant prior to the re-release of free trade. <_< Keep trying though. Work more on your observations and worry less about smashing together bits to fit the meme. :P- Behind the Scenes - March
People have always been strength-max-bonus crazy. There's still hope. Vague hope.- Behind the Scenes - March
It's an amazing month. Sure, the smithing update wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but they did have the sense to make it so it favors miners and not stupid little lvl 70 aviansie campers that flood the market with adamant bars. That was a stroke of brilliance, and for ceremonial swords to be better than adamant platebodies? Well, that sounds great to me. I do feel bad for all those people who rushed to 99 smithing--I was going to be one of them, but then I died for 30mil!--in hopes to make a quick buck off a rework. That has to sting. But hell. Two quests? Bonus XP weekend? RoW actually being awesome? Tons of gameplay reworks? Holy [cabbage], I'm in heaven. I couldn't be more happy. I think they did a great job and, well...- Clan discussion improvements/suggestions
*whistles* >people ask for updates >staff gave updates on ML project >main coder left the team, no remaining people to dedicate time with it >OMG Y NO MLS >OMG Y NO UPDAETZ >mfw For a lot of basic, fundamental issues such as increasing activity that everyone tries to work on daily, it's impossible to really 'update' on, isn't it? And aside from that, I'm sure that big projects would be announced, like the tourneys were, etc.- Minecraft General
