None of the people who had their stuff reset (and were open about it) reported losing wealth. One could quibble over whether or not they're lying but at this point what reason would they have to lie? They were already caught. But I have no verifiable sources on that, I'll admit. Not as much as it had before though. Before, it was an absolute zero tolerance policy. Now people can safely bot knowing they're only losing 1 skill instead of an entire account. And they can even reasonably get away with it, too! I'm sure we all know 'that friend' who botted and never got caught, regardless if we reported them or not. Wouldn't the efforts here be better spent in improving bot detection and staying the course then? It just doesn't make any sense.

No, there is no way to reset your skills or request it.

I'm saying it simply because DFS was out of his price range and I usually hear the BSS as the second recommendation. But I guess the Range difference doesn't outweigh the better offensive mage/range stats & prayer bonus. I'm sorry then.

If this wasn't a board for discussion and debating then it'd be Rate This! with no post count. If this wasn't a serious topic, it'd be in Forum Games or Questionnaires. While we can take a casual approach to it, if you have an opinion that goes against the grain of the majority, expect to debate it or let it go yourself. It has absolutely nothing to do with 'having fun'. It's just how people engage with each other. To give an example to the contrary, I'd say nearly all of those who post in Off Topic have quit the game and stay for the community instead, not because of the game. How a fansite affects your devotion to the game differs from person to person. But there is a pretty strong portion of the population that have never touched a fansite in their life and they still play. EDIT: Danq, get out of anonymous mode this instant. >:[

The only reason why this might be more closely watched now is because they're selling accounts like that. Those 'uber-pures' wouldn't be hard to find. Otherwise, they don't care...or they wouldn't have allowed something like that in the first place. Again, it's only when money is involved does it require that 'extra special care'. Case in point: anti-RWT updates. Demonstrates the futility of it...while leaving all your money in tact. People knowingly break the rules when they macro. The only deterrent would be nothing less than a ban. And sure, repeat offenders of macroing would get banned. Okay, that's a pretty logical deduction. The only thing this changes is how long it takes to get rid of a throwaway account or how quickly you screw up your main (if you're that dumb.) And they abandoned that practice for good reason. I'll pull an Off-Topic here and say...where's your proof? Especially since there's so much evidence to the contrary, the least of which the selfsame thread the OP quoted? Which is why people have all stopped botting...right? It has nothing to do with a 'hating jagex' bias. Considering I've been a part of HYT for a year or so now and help moderate the chat with a good group of people and a great chat owner, I can honestly say that whatever poor experience you've had isn't what we are today. You basically have to be trying to break the rules to get reprimanded lol :P It might not be the old Lightning, but the game simply isn't the same as it was then anymore, so there's no use in comparing apples to oranges. Come into the chat with a fresh perspective sometime. :thumbsup: Lightning was much better, they actually understood humor. Kicking (and banning) people for making a phat once, well, shows what type of CC it is. There are numerous WBM's, and the mods are way too uptight. This is my opinion, from several years and several different HYT CC's. I think you had one bad experience because you never read the rules and didn't want to come back afterwards. 2-line ascii is allowed in moderation and excessive use is a warn, then a kick (which is a 1-hr temp ban.) Been like this since mid-way through FSM's ownership. Again, you've got to be really trying to get kicked out of the chat. Would be nice if you popped back in once and a while, because I don't think you've seen what the recent chat's like. :P But we're really getting off topic now.

Fansites have covered the rough edges and the not-so-obvious aspects of the game throughout its lifetime. While it's not necessary for the game to exist, it enriches the entire experience in my opinion. Of course, that's entirely subjective. There are those who will never use a fansite. But if you want the fastest answer and tons of variety and reliable info...you go to a fansite rather than trusting Eddy Schmuckface in the seers bank. And they will continue to facilitate overall experience so long as RuneScape's own forums and website services (like the Knowledge base and failed ingame menus) come up so very, very freaking short of expectations. They owe fansites a great deal. And even now, I don't think they get the respect they deserve.

I think most have, but there was never any confirmation with a JMod post. Not even in the HLF where most things get leaked from. So having this verified definitely renews the controversy. But they don't get money from people who are banned. And this gives them a chance to 'educate their users' rather than cutting them off. Except people who macro know it's against the rules. I guess I'm approaching this too cynically. Just feels so wrong that they keep their cash/supplies gained. But more money I guess is more updates.

XP removal finally confessed. Now I wonder if they'll tell us if they'll remove the stuff gained via that macroing process. If they do, I'm okay with it. If they don't, I've lost all faith.

That's really got nothing to do with this. This nested menu update is everywhere, not just when you die. And it truly is the worst interface they've ever implemented. There's no excuse for poor design. At all.

It has its uses in PvP clan fights where dungeoneering items are impractical to lose when you'll die 3+ times in a single run-in. Or if you make money faster than you earn tokens in f2p. But you're right that for you specifically, it has no use.
