The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Is Dragonborn the shivering isles-sized DLC we were promised finally being delivered? I would not mind the pricetag AS MUCH if that were the case. Dawnguard definitely was not worth that much cash.

Runescape F2p - Mining & Alching Efficiency
....This isn't a bug. If you seriously thought it was, you should've reported. Best to make sure you know what you're talking about before throwing around false accusations.

If they kept logging in and disconnecting due to the lag, it would have messed up growth cycles, yes at the very least.

How to make money with some skills, ~0 money, P2P?
I'll give her 500k so she can get rudimentary gear (rune legs, rune plate, dscim, whatever.) She can use the rest of that cash to buy toadflax or fellstalk seeds and start doing herb runs. What's her RSN?

Buying a pc monitor
This comment couldn't be more wrong. IIRC he's talking about the quality of the components used. Not different types of products.

DERP. I did not remember to check under scapeboard.

What should I be doing in Runescape?
Membership is absolutely worth it assuming you have the disposable income to allow it. Moneymaking in f2p generally doesn't get much better than 200-300k/hr. GOP water tallies are the only method I know of. Leveling up depends on your stats. Post 'em.

Castle wars
Are there many CW strategies that truly take nearly the full 20 minutes to deploy? That's one of the only cases I can really think of where it would hurt legit CW fans.

Castle wars
I think IMO the worse kind of loafers are those who do things that hurt the chances of success, like hoarding and stupidly placing barriers and stuff.

200M in all Skills
Really? What if you just hold the key down to fix it on the action bar thing? Doesn't work anymore? Think of it like the nerf of fletching arrows/broads. The broads were nerfed to an action per tick, this is per 2 ticks ;((( I just meant it in a way that they set the speed, but you're right. That was a poor analogy. @_@

Well, you're mentioning enjoyment. They could get enough enjoyment out of the activity and the structures that go with it and allow it to thrive (typically goes hand-in-hand with leading a clan about that). The teaching becomes secondary to the main activity of simply dg'ing. Most of the teachers in clans for aren't actual teachers -- they're experts in the area, and they share their knowledge, but they don't always know how to effectively convey it. Hell that's where a lot of the animosity towards DGS exists. They're amazing experts but teaching well to everyone, rather than just those with similar personality types to them, is not their strong point. (Not saying it it has to be, just making an observation.) That said about enjoyment, I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean when you say Jagex doesn't need to reward people. I guess you could say the "reward" for getting better at DG was astronomically increased xp/hr rates. However, if they're removing the magnitude of that reward, doesn't that just reinforce the fact that people would eventually stop feeding into that cycle of growth for DG? It seems like we're both agreeing that it's collectively lowering the bar over time and killing it.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Ugh the popup is hideous. It takes up a massive amount of the screen and it's right above center @_@ Not everyone can do a 24+" monitor setup, good lord. And I thought for sure since they were getting EXP and GE data, they'd produce GP/XP charts on their own. From what little screenies I've seen, it looks like they hadn't. Shocker.

Not long enough, is why. When this generation of "meta" players retire, if there is no one to take their place (go on and ask how hard it is to find researchers) they will start the "dying out" process. If you want to see a similar trend, look at the fansite clan world. The process is one that takes a very long time, but the trend this subsection of the community is taking is slowly dying out. Which actually makes me wonder if the decision to promote the exp/hr so much for solo and as a result removing the dependency (and thus its lifespan) of education was their intention. After all, that's exactly what they did to the fansite clan world. And there is no dispute there that it is dead/dying. But this process took 6 years before it was that bad.

Defeats the reason to venture into teams and learn, because of the effort involved. Even if the effort was justified by the returns, we have two years of proof that the general population does not want to face that effort. Without the team aspect, 5:5ing will die out over time, essentially lowering the exp floor to whatever the solo rates are on average with teams due to a lack of learning. Lower exp rates across the board over time become a larger deterrent for the skill than any learning or community issues will ever do. Overall there is more harm to the skill than good here. It's completely different from a normal rework when looking at, say, Runecrafting. That had more positives than negatives and was overall healthy for the skill. Forcing people to be social in order to get above abysmal xp rates is stupid. As long as the xp rates of 5 man teams remains the best xp per hour, people will still team up with friends if they are so inclined. Solo med runs were already 100k/hr. If anything it would have made more sense to lessen the upper bound (5:5) a bit and only slightly buff the lower bound (solos). This would have been a more balanced choice without utterly destroying 5:5'ing over time by doubling its base exp to where the difference between 5:5ing and soloing is only a hundred thousand or two. No one is saying solo'ing didn't need some sort of attention -- just that they went too far in the opposite direction...which is typical jagex.

It's been explained thoroughly why people upset. It widens the social gap of dungeoneering rather han close it, among other things.

You're talking about Runescape here. If you don't enjoy grinding and solo skilling you would have quit this game the moment one of your skills reached level 30. It's true that I do like grinding and solo skilling, but training with a team of nice people is (in my eyes) even more fun! ^_^ It...reaallllyyy...depends on the people you're with. Trust me.

Having 'access' to the resources doesn't necessarily mean they would be able to implement it in-game. More than that, the rate at which a map would need to open to keep up with 5 different people running paths would be extremely demanding. Imagine a DGsweeper client integrated with the game applet, running and refreshing the map every 10 seconds. So basically, imagine the old lag of w117 before it started splitting up to "3BO" worlds and such and multiply it by whatever factor you wish. It wouldn't be pretty. I would rather see it remain a separate, efficient client on its own.

They will say "Our engine does not currently support this feature. We will send this to our engine team for further consideration." They should just borrow Stev for a week. Or just hire him outright. He deserves it for all the work he basically did for them since DGSweeper's release. It's a feature that should have never been left from game.

That might have more to do with how high 5:5 standards are these days and how few people are really willing to teach others. To that I blame ridiculously insular communities for fostering and encouraging that. But really you'd find most high level players are willing to be patient if you're learning. DG is the sort of skill where you either love it or hate it, and most people who love it tend to keep playing past 120/200m because of the team dynamic.

Well Known RWT'rs banned.
True but if they were to make it okay to do, they then have the responsibility to ensure that their members can do so in a safe environment. It's not so simple as saying, "Okay, it's legal." The time invested in Bot Watch would still need to be done to maintain the integrity of their game. Then, more dev time would be necessary to "set up" their own take on Diablo's Real World Auction House or something similar. I know you likely understand these things, so I guess I'm just stating the obvious.
