Of course they should. Breaking a law doesn't mean they're not entitled to the same rights as other people. If they broke a low, they'll get sentenced and punished, but it's no the place of the hospital or doctor to decide about that. They have to treat him/her like everyone else.

Tips shouldn't be accounted for wages, but unfortunately they are and protest shouldn't be taken out on the backs of those working. I tip for jobs that I know are badly paid(like for hairdressers) and (which is how it really should be done) if a waiter or something does a very good job, more than you would normally excpect.

I just don't understand why the people who lack self control need to ruin the fun for the people that do enjoy gambling. I'll put up hundreds of millions on a whim on RuneScape, but you'd be lucky to see me throw down five bucks at a poker party with my friends. Willpower is what the complainers of being cleaned lack. Once again RS needs to be dumbed down for the helpless. RSGP is worth real life money though. Yes, but not according to Jagex It doesn't matter what Jagex says - what the courts think is what matters and Jagex is perfectly aware that this might be a problem, which is why they haven't introduced such a casino yet.

Dying? Perhaps, that would be natural for how long rs has been running. But the economy has recovered quite nicely post-botnuke. I don't see much of a 'taint' left by them. There are 150,000 less people on at any given time No, there's still roughly the same amount of *people* playing, maybe a bit less, it's the computers that stopped playing runescape. Sure, runescape will die at some point, because it is old and there's simply a natural lifespan in almost all internet entertainment stuff, especially MMOs. But honestly, Runescape itself isn't doing bad. They've got rid of one of its, if not the major problem, they're still putting out content at an amazing rate with a high quality to it, no matter what some naysayers think. What they manage to pull of through Java and browser on a technical level is simply incredible. Heck, even communication, another of Jagex's bigger problems has improved(well, a bit at least). Sure, Runescape will eventually die, but it still has some years despite already being one of the oldest MMOs. You may see it as tainted, but why? I'm pretty sure it's not because the game has changed, it's because you changed. You grew out of it. No big deal, a lot of people do that. I probably will too, at this point. But can you really put forward real facts why this game is tainted? I would be interested to hear them.

No-one at all on this thread is arguing that it infringes freedom of expression etc. because they can't get stuff for free illegally any more. They are arguing it because MU had many legal and legitimate uses outside of illegal content and they did make efforts to take down illegal content and under existing law fault and liability is supposed to lie with the user perpetrating the act; not the service provider whose terms they violated in doing so. These laws are in place specifically for online services because it is so free and open it is entirely impossible for any sort of hosting/sharing service to exist without someone abusing it with illegal materials. They didn't take appropriate measures to remove copyrighted content though. Someone posted an article a few pages back. It was from a "internet-friendly" website, so if it was biased, it would be towards megaupload. Anyways, apparently when someone contacted megavideo with a copyright claim to certain content, they removed the link in question, but not the content itself. There are multiple links existing for this content if multiple people tried to upload that. Therefore, in most cases even after a copyright complaint, everyone was still easily able to access the content. From what I've seen, Megaupload didn't give a damn about having copyrighted content on their servers. They did enough against it so that hopefully they wouldn't be sued because of it. Turns out they were wrong.

Wouldn't be the first time then you've said "I bet", "I'm sure" or another variant and were wrong. I hope you don't bet irl. iBot is not open-source, is it? In that case, I doubt it would happen. Why take the trouble to reverse-engineer a bot that isn't even working right now? And the makers themselves surely won't pass the code to someone, seeing as they would have to pay a million dollars for that....

Only if the developers break the conditions of the court ruling. But they will have to pay for Jagex side of the legal fees plus any damages. I bet its easily wiped out any profit they ever made and probably more. I don't doubt that ;) I just wanted to make sure that this won't be misunderstood

This is truly incredible. If they were able to win this clearly against them, it could mean that they're able to stop other bot developers through legal means as well :thumbsup: I would never have imagined that they would be able to win such a case. Huge damn congratz to Jagex :D

These spaces have been around for a while...unfortunately now someone has found a way to abuse them. What these spaces are doing is essentially this: They're supposed to be unwalkable squares, that for some reason are not. Apparently player code has some built in check to see if he should be able to stand there, and if he shouldn't be, the game will make him leave it. It was the same with the edgeville wormhole glitch that's been fixed some time ago. I'm sure there are other spaces like that around that haven't been discovered yet.

Fair enough. Now if only the times could get an interview with a member of Community Management to get their (and Jagex) opinions XD It was said at Runefest that this would be a lot of trouble regarding the law, which is why they haven't done this(yet). The Jmod(Sorry, I don't remember who it was, I think Mod Roderick but not sure) did not say it was illegal and so this wasn't a design problem but rather a legal problem. I think it's pretty safe to assume we won't be seeing a casino though. Even if they're sure they would not lose at court, they would still have to put up with being sued, they have to pay lawyers, organise their defense etc. - for what? It's simply not worth the risk.

Both of those were a bit of hate-love for me. On one hand, I didn't really like it and it put me off...but on the other hand, because of that, it just felt that much more realistic, which also kinda made the books better.

It's still the same with the eastern land as always - Jagex would like to make them, but only once the current continent is finished. No plans for it atm. As for the armour update, Jagex posted on Facebook that the update will be delayed until next week(I should mention they did not explicitely say it was the armour update though)

^this 100% :P I will watch the movie, but I guess I won't be watching the sequels, seeing as how it is being marketed as the next big teen thing after twilight >.> The books were actually to pull off a love story without too much kitsch, but I feel like the movie will be ripping apart the good parts of the novels and focus on the whole teen love story thingy again, since that's what apparently attracts the big masses of cinema viewers.

Right click the XP button, select Toggle XP Pop-Up. Be careful with that though...I've heard of a lot of people who had their xp reset despite not clicking reset. Not 100% sure if that's legit though.

This is another thought I have had. The easiest way to stop interplayer gambling is by making a better alternative. This does however require Jagex to officially support gambling, which they might not be willing to do, though I would consider the dual arena (staking) to be official gambling support. All they would have to do is create an NPC that you can place bets on. The players will be inclined use this, because it rules out the possibility of being scammed (either by logging or stacked odds), and it also would allow for a money sink. As long as the odds are reasonable, with an appropriate payout (something along the lines of the 55x2 game would be good), it would probably work, and cut down on a lot of the player run gambling rings. They can't legall support gambling in Runescape, or at least it's in a grey area of the law. The issue is that RSGP hold real world value, even if it's against game rules, and this means a court could view it as online gamblin which Jagex isn't allowed to do. Don't ask me why it's not the case with the duel arena, I'm not a lawyer :P This essentially is what Jmods said at Runefest when being asked about this.

I have to say I'm surprised they didn't announce the armour update in the BTS, but there really isn't anything else it could be.

Well I'm not an expert on these things but I can hopefully give some tips... The fastest thieving experience is blackjacking monkey knife fighters. After that is blackjacking menaphites/pyramid plunder on a roughly same level(when you're 81+). I don't know exact xp rates though. You can train agility and thieving in one go with the flash powder factory, but afaik, it's not worth the time now that jagex "fixed" it. For agility, once you hit 70 I believe BA with a good horn team and ape course is the fastest xp until you can access the advanced courses No idea on hunter really
