  1. Here's an idea - Sell the DFS and buy back your tassets, get a Dragon defender. You'll have almost the same stats.
  2. 1/475 Effigy 1/450 Dark Bow Great Slayer XP - Great Melee XP - Average Summoning XP - Break Even on Prayer Pots (Without a D-Bow or Effigy)- Permanently Aggressive - Kill Rate ~ 180 an hour in Kura's If you spend the effigy on 85+ herb or prayer it's technically worth around 750k at least with herb and prayer @ 20gp/xp or so. and @ Noxx - if you are an "efficiency freak" then you should definitely be doing them.
  3. Iron can be mined outside the resource dungeon in the dwarven mine. Then you hop through the portal - use the deposit box and hop back. This saves having to drop (which is a pain) and turns some decent profit while getting XP. You could use spirit terrorbird (or war tort) to load up an invent as you mine iron, then can be quick deposited using the deposit box). No idea on Xp rates and ores per hour, but I imagine it can't be that much slower than dropping. After that you can do Granite. If you've got the camulet, you can duel-ring to castle wars and get back to the mine in 1minute. If you take a war tort - you can just bank the 5kg granites while dropping the rest. This should cut down on the dropping a bit and give you some gp/hr aswell. I'd recommend doing the quest "dealing with scarabus" first for the enchanted water tiara though. At 77 it's concentrated coal until 80. A Coal bag + BoB is very useful for this, especially if you are lazy.

    Doesn't matter any more, my first post was poorly worded since I was posting it from a phone. Almost 30/30/30 now in melee. Need to try make a mil & get 43 prayer next. Then I guess i'll start Slayer.
  5. I'd argue that having the Arcane Stream for the single target is valuable. Since you want to kill that last one (It'll always be one hanging on) as quick as possible, grab your charms, put the pros back on and run to the ladder to start lure again. I wouldn't worry too much about Prayer Bonus (Aside from luring gear Pros top & bottom, Neitznot/pros helm) your battle robes will last 8 hours of Rock lobs (So 4 hours with them actually on) so you'll have to leave to recharge them, before you run out of prayer from prayer pots. I'd probably still wear a RoL though, mainly for random thing's like disconnects, since the alternative's don't really provide enough benefit. Also - What you cane xpect from One recharge of Battle Robes worth.     Ok at Rock Crabs now, seems to be far easier to train here than on everything else i've been to. (Edgeville Men, Lumbridge Catacombs, Stronghold of Security 1st floor) Only thing I need to find now is low level charm droppers. But I'm guessing they don't really start to drop many until 40+ or so.

    Don't arrest me officer! No I'm literally levelling a new account with a friend who is new to runescape. Swamp toads or snaps grass could be ok. Both aren't too close to a bank though. Doubt I'll start slayer until I am in rune and can teleport places. Any extremely important quests to do early? Currently out and about so just fruit to collect some info for when I get home.   10. Ok so just created a new account - is membered with a friend who has also made a new acc as he is starting the game.. Currently on lvl 2 men in edgeville. What other lower level training areas/mobs are there (since I haven't kill anything this low since 2005..) Stronghold of Security next? I could try get to 10dg for the resource dungeon with chaos druids. Just wondering if there is any favoured methods for levelling up - or spots, since a lot has changed. Aside from that, any very early money makers (requiring no skills) so collecting things without much requirements. And lastly do I need to do Wolf Whistle to have Charms drop - or just to use them.
  11. An Adze is only the equivalent of a Rune pick, but is the same as a Dragon Axe. So you will still need a D-Pick if you are planning on doing any serious mining.

    Monkfish would be about 100k? gp/hr it's really insignificant. I would think shilo is at least 50k/hr to Monkfishes 30-35k. Someone else with more shilo experience would have to confirm the rate though.

    I would recommend doing Fish Fling (Use CC: fish fling1 on w77). This will get you about 200k xp a week (10 entry tickets to the minigame per week) for minimal effort. Game lasts about 20min from start to finish (including wait time) but you'll be done after about 5min, then you spend the next 15min in one spot doing nothing basically. This willl give you 18-20k per game (if you do it right, check the wiki article on it for instructions, takes like 1 game to see what to do) If you are in a rush, I still recommend doing fish fling (As the time spent is equiv to ~60k xp/"hr") monkfish will be around 30-35k/hr - Cavefish similar again - Barb fishing is around 50k or so at least at that level - but requires dropping I guess.
  14. My original goal was to be able to open all Effigies by Xmas, but I decided to do the slow skills instead of the buyable fast to open them. Open all Effigies by Easter Time, (So able to crack the 97's open in all slow skills) Max out via effigies by mid 2011 Await updates (Doubt i'll go for 120 Dg)
  15. I'm in the same boat as you. I think it's definitely worth it if you are able to get a decent team and charge it quite quickly. However if you REALLY hate firemaking (and agility) like I do, i'd be prepared to spend twice as long at BA to charge the horn, even if it is relatively in-efficient to do so (timewise). As for logs, I'd guess you should use the horn on Magics. So the bonus XP is used up quicker saving you a lot of time spent firemaking. You would need to charge the horn I think twice on the way to 92, from 80 or so. But you'd save yourself around 10m gp or so. (If using magics) But yeah, using the horn Magic logs become 2gp/xp and fast and inexpensive way to 92, (~8k logs from 80-92). Check Grimy's FM sheet for more accurate gp/xp and time figures.
  16. You get 945 Xp per Frost Dragon bone with gilded altar and 2 burners, without brawlers you'd get 630. This is an increase of 1.5x xp. They are most effective using Frost Dragon Bones. @ Current GE price of 15800 for a Frost Dragon bone, this makes this method around 17gp/xp and is extremely fast xp as you can imagine. if you were to bury them in a 400% hotspot, you'd receive 720xp per bone.
  17. Well my mates have nearly finished the normal raiding content (lol) 1 boss to go for them. Wonder how long "hardmode" will last, if it'll last as long as Ulduar did.
  18. You could try mining iron in the Resource Dungeon @ Mining guild I think it is. Saves you having to drop it and you should earn maybe 200k gold per hr. (The deposit box isn't far away from the mining spots at all) Otherwise Granite in the desert. There are a couple of quests to make life easier to do this. Enchanted Water Tiara & the quest that gives you the Camulet. If you wanted to bank the 5kg Granite's you can earn up to 400k an hr with a Pack Yak (takes 1 minute to bank), and less with lesser BoB's)

Ok so for this example we'll take cave crawlers at 1 effigy per hour & slayer at 0.5 effigy per hr (1 every 2 hr) Since this is about top players, all players are maxed @99 in each skill. The 8 Effigy skills they'd use to unlock each effigy will be the slowest skills, not the most expensive. So this is 15 + 20 + 25 + 30k XP to the slowest skills per hour. 90000 XP shared amongst these slow skills. I think elsewhere there is a more accurate calculation of how much time is actually saved. But lets put this time figure at 60minutes, for this example. Then there is the lamp itself which almost saves 1 hour of Slayer or Runecrafting at 99. (It doesn't but for this example we'll say it saves exactly 1 hour) So every effigy will save 2 Hours of gameplay elsewhere, doing slow skills & the lamp skill (RC/Slayer). So Total XP/HR at Cave Crawlers is broken down like so. 80k Melee 25k Constitution 160k Ranged Xp (130k Cannon + 30k Steel Titan) 45k Summoning Xp (All coloured Charms, primarily green though so this doesn't take into account the time to turn them into pouches) 5k Herblore Xp (Herbicide all herbs) 90k Effigy Xp 45k Lamp Xp COST: -2m GP/HR (At current CBALL prices) TOTAL: ~450k Total XP/hr Time Saved: 2 Hours So for this Slayer example we are going to use this task list here. Aberrant Spectres (Even GP) Black Demons (- GP) Black Dragons (+ GP) Bloodvelds (- GP) Dagannoths (- GP) Dark Beasts (+ GP) Ice Strykewyrm (+ GP) Iron Dragons (+ GP) Mithril Dragons (+ GP) Steel Dragons (+ GP) At the fastest kill rates these should average 40k Slayer Xp/hr and an effigy every 2 hours. If 10 tasks are too few and you run out of points you'd need to add more tasks, however for this example. This is ok. For monetary value this is a rough calculation of simply + or - GP. There is probably nothing on the list that exceeds 1m+ an hour (baring in mind you are only there to do the specified task). So from the list we can probably assume you are more likely to profit, than to lose powerslaying the above tasks. Therefore we will put the opportunity cost of Slayer at +1m/hr. So for Total XP/hr based on the above slayer list. You would expect a higher proportion of Melee xp than camping cave crawlers, thanks to the 15% attack/strength from the slayer helm. Collecting a new task and banking would be no more than 2-3minutes with a Ferocious ring and relative discipline. So for this example we'll not count this time due to cave crawlers with a steel titan (An invent can only hold so much anyway) Since all but 3 tasks allow you to use a cannon for powerslaying but only 3 are actually in Multi-combat (which also allows use of steel titan). We will say you obtain on average 1:1 Range & Slayer XP split over these tasks. As for some you are earning 0, others a rate of 100k an hr, and the single combat closer to 50k. Melee XP - Would be close to 100k an hour. However as Range xp/hr increases, melee will probably go down due to Overkill values & more loot to pickup/reloading cannon. Also due to having dragons on our task list, (Which typically have higher defence) despite giving more XP per LP we'll assume that slows down our melee xp. For this example we will use 80k melee xp per hour. Which is a 2:1 xp ratio to slayer xp. (It may be slightly more than this, but I'd need someone to show me etc) And constitution XP is gained at 1/3rd rate of melee xp. For summoning XP - Everything on this task list is below the rate at which charms are obtained at cave crawlers. Except Mithril Dragons & Black Demons. Some being significantly less. So we will assume around ~25k Summoning XP/hr on this slayer task list. So for one Hour of slaying we can expect, on average. The following XP. 80k Melee xp 25k Constitution xp 50k Ranged Xp 45k Slayer Xp 25k Summoning Xp 45k Effigy Skills 27k Lamp Skill COST: + 1m GP/HR Total XP: ~ 300k XP/HR Time Saved: 1 Hour Now a comparison if you were to spend the Lamp on slayer XP. So you'd be gaining the equivalent of 45k Slayer Xp/Hr ~100k more Ranged Xp/hr. (This is equivalent to ~20minutes chinning (Not counting Hp XP you'd gain from chinning)) ~ 20k more Summoning XP/hr. (~ 15minutes at Waterfiends) ~ 45k Xp spread amongst the following skills. Mining, Fishing, Runecrafting, Agility, Thieving, Hunter, Woodcutting, Firemaking. (5 slow, 3 fast skills) (60k + 60k + 50k + 60k + 250k + 200k + 80k + 350k /8 = Average of 140k xp/hr = ~20minutes of time) ~ 27k Xp LOSS on Runecrafting (from the lamp) This is around 25minutes of time. ~ COST of 3m gp/hr. 2m Actual cost against 1m Opportunity cost (1m gp you've missed out if you did Slayer) So to justify doing Cave Crawlers over Slayer (For Slayer) you'd have to want to spend approximately 3m to save 30minutes of time. I'm not a math person, so feel free to trawl through it and see if I've cocked up. If it's relatively accurate I'll probably add it to my guide so it's not a waste of a post. I have declared a lot of assumptions to make it easier to follow or compare, also the Xp rates of the slower skills are fairly generic and do not take into account mousekey methods etc. The assumed RC ZMI rate might be too low for 99, but would probably only deviate the example by a couple of minutes.) and @ Drumgun, you could expect around 50-60k Ranged XP (from ranging) + 130k Cannon Xp + 30k Steel Titan Xp. If you use void you need to bring Antipoisons ++ and have a timer running. I would personally use an AP totem for the convenience. Also use a Karils Xbow if you can afford it. (No ground clutter, although youa re 200m summoning so it probably doesn't matter) Also if you use void you'll have to manually scroll your steel titan as well. Since you won't be picking up herbs or charms, you'll be able to pump some decent DPS with Karils Xbow. (Not stopping constantly to pick crap up, where a slower weapon would be better)
  20. If you click the link in my sig it should explain the various methods for effigies. The theoretical drop rate should be around 1/650-1/750 which is 1 an hour or 65minutes. I don't suppose you've logged your kills?
