I think this sums up the ease of woodcutting. Thx Ivy, lol.

Yes there is limited skills required for this game. Namely that you have at least one arm and a mouse. Everything is time based. Therefore the only way to be better than other people - is simply to save time. Or do things quicker. And yes believe it or not the majority of games turn into some form of competition if none is provided via the mechanics of the game - it's generally what keeps people playing it after the contents run out. If Jagex deleted the highscores, removed experience past 99 and reduced the xp required for 99, I highly doubt many people would keep playing it. Because the actual gameplay mechanics are crap. It's a clicking broswer game. The whole "fun" behind runescape is the grind. If you don't like it, go find another game to play/troll, since this clearly isn't catered for you.

Because teenage girls aren't hormonal rofl. And as for the shirt argument - It's more the fact Runescape's typically associated with your 14yr old school days. So wearing it at age 22 proclaiming i still play the Browser Java Grindfest, is kind of pathetic. Jeez, even i know its 2010. It's not THAT you play, it's WHAT you play now :shades:

Think of us like those shady old men that go to sex clubs. We enjoy it, but don't exactly want to be advertising that we play it.
-
Don't suppose anyones got some ballpark figures for Xp/hr, gp/hr for thieving the new monkeys?
-
I've my doubts. If a hot girl gets this, you think that'll stop her from getting laid? They're the ones who get pregnant o.O Frankly, I like the ones that DON'T have an obvious Runescape design on them. Notice how I put blokes there? Also as much as ultra-feminists hate it, it still takes 2 to tango for a pregnancy, be it directly or indirectly. So yes more moron nerd blokes would cut down on it in my analogy. And yes, if a hot girl did have a gamer related shirt on, i'd probably propose.
-
Dazed symbols around head? Also looks like you can get the hood the cyclops is wearing. So instead of introducing something new to obtain the dragon defender, they just put a hoody on a cyclops and say, enjoy having 9000+ ppl per room opening day per world.

When I clicked on this I was expecting a Blizzard like store offering in-game pets or other cosmetic crap for turfing over irl money. Thankfully they are just a bunch of crappy tshirts that use £2 awful quality cotton shirts with awful designs stamped on them. Although kudos to Jagex, this should cut down on teenage pregnancies for any blokes caught wearing these shirts, lmao. May aswell have a big VIRGIN 4 LYFE stamped on the front of it.

Even 82 fletch won't take you long. Then use a fletching potion to 85 which is guaranteed +3 boost. You could get 80-82 fletch in like an hour doing Broad Arrows. (Will take you like a day to buy the heads though due to 10k/4hr GE limit. EDIT: Just read your above post. Don't do broad arrows then if you only have 2m. You can make Yew longbow(u)'s and resell them. For a loss of around 60k per hour and a gain of 130k xp per hour. Or buy yew longbow(u)'s and bowstring and string them for 100k profit an hr - however this isn't as "afk" as the previous method as it's use 14/14 rather than cut/27. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tzkP4MqjG7mX6T3irn6P7ew&output=html Or peruse that sheet. Don't worry about income values etc - Just look at XP/hr, cost/hr and gp/xp.

If you aren't going to fill your bank full of crap it doesn't matter where you bank. You still have to deposit all the runes in the bank, or withdraw the pouches again. Due to the new fill ess update you can just bank once (if you don't use an essence familiar) at ZMI anyway, (Although without a Giant pouch you only have to bank twice with a familiar anyway). The amount of runs you can do an hr will drastically alter your XP/hr. Banking at CW instead of ZMI will effect that big time - and since a run takes about 1;05-1;10 for a casual clicker.(no mousekeys, screen markers 100% concentration etc). Seeing as you can't exactly do this skill relaxed or AFK, taking 10 secs longer is around 15% slower xp. Which is quite a lot considering how many runs you have to do at ZMI. Aside from that - from my limited experience doing it. - Don't use a ZMI world if using a familiar as others get in the way etc. - Use Super energy MIXES - They are only 2 dose and you only need 2 super nrg doses to recharge. Also being a mix they will heal you for some of the minor damage you take running at ZMI. - Just put Fires, Astrals AND Laws in your invent as at your level you won't necesserily make enough to be able to tele. (I don't at 73) As for cost - I'm sure you'll break even at least. 28m is more than enough i'd imagine. I'd imagine you'd get minimum 750 xp a run. At 1;10 a run (These are the lowest estimates) - Would give you around 50 runs an hour. Or 37k Xp. At 1;05 it'd give 55 runs an hr and 41.5k xp. So at the lower levels, expect 35k an hr, right up to 42/45k or so as you get closer to 75. (This is without a giant pouch ofc) If I had to estimate - I'd say close to 30 hours of runecrafting. If you do 1;10 runs (which is with slowish banking). My main advise is - don't do it all at once. Do like a couple hrs a day then do something else. So the time actually spent runecrafting you can get the most out of it(ie the quickest runs) without going stircrazy. Gl - I gave up at 72 and now just do pengs to 75, lol.

Non Combat Skills: Woodcutting/Fishing/Mining all offer around 300k an hr at the least effort an hr & are extremely multitask friendly (2nd game, forum, work, movie etc) Runecrafting - Deaths Via Abyss ~1m an hr - High effort. Fletching - Low profits with bolts - high effort though - Other methods not viable for gold. Adamant Arrows also profit but take 1 week to buy 10k tips. Farming - Around 100k a run minimum from herbs - 1 run takes 5minutes. so At least 1m/hr of time actually spent farming(not growing time). Hunter - Grenwalls make around 1m an hr or more if you know what you are doing. High effort. Thieving - Not sure how those new monkeys are for gp/hr? Cooking/Firemaking still provide no skill specific income methods. Crafting/Smithing/Construction - all consume gold and do not provide any or negligible amounts (Cannonballs are so crap they don't count.) Combine the above with the effigy update and you can see why it's almost pointless to do anything else other than kill things for gold basically. lol As for blues in Taverly. 65+agi (pie) & resource dungeon room (No competition). Even if you were able to kill 200 an hr you would just about make 1.5m. (Bare in mind you won't have a yak, turm, rapier etc so 200 is not feasible.) If you had low stats you could cannon with a war tort here - perhaps get 200 kills but <1m profit. But yeah, as a baseline with the increased price of Dragon bones due to the benefits of high end prayer - just dragon slaying earns you at least 750k an hr no matter how low your stats are (within reason). Which is why combat trumps everything atm. (That's not even bothering to approach boss hunting etc.)

Yeah I managed to get all of the guild wars games + expan for £15 so I figured i'd try it out lol. 2.7M Wc Xp so far this week. I am tempted to maybe do an article or "guide" on inactive & active playstyles and exploring effort/clicks behind certain methods of skilling, since efficiency doesn't take that into account. Only time vs money. A good example of this I guess is Ivy vs Teaks/Sawmill I guess.

35k, lol not bad considering i do everything i can alt-tabbed in runescape.

Here is my take on efficiency. Why play one game, when you can play two!

If people haven't noticed, the entire attitude towards creating games has changed over the last 5 years. There is a big shift away from grinding & MMO's especially are becoming more like social hubs than animated excel sheets. IF Runescape was still following the same format as it was 5 yrs ago with slow xp etc, they'd be losing out bigtime. Those that don't enjoy the game being easier per se, are going to be severely disappointed in any MMO they play from now on. It's a lot easier to appeal to desperate housewives than basement dwellers. After all they pay the same amount of money and one is incredibly easier to cater for one, than the other. However effigies were a daft update as it reinforced bias toward combat, and made the secondary skills, clear-cut support skills. Which is fair enough - but then you have to ask yourself what's the point of having the secondary skills in the 1st place, if the game's emphasis is on combat. Most other games revolve around Combat and have a small crafting based system to support. That's what made Runescape unique in that aspect. One easier way to fix effigies would be use the support skills to open it. But the lamp is only able to be spent on combat skills, (Not summoning). (Since that is how it is obtained) That way it doesn't make the slower support skills completely redundant.

Ok found the pic

I believe there was a picture of floor 60 when it was released showing around 202000 xp received from that floor. Of course that will be with a good team, ie rushing. So add maybe 10% more ontop of that for a full clear via monsters. Also can't remember if they died or not. Also I think quite a few people don't actually do those top floors as it's difficult to find a team - at least it was. The 300k figure is the hourly figure for these top dg'ers since they can complete even the warpeds in good time.

Excellent formatting and layout btw. Once the content is finished I'm sure this will be AOW material.

Combat: Black demons in chaos tunnels/taverly. Put on around +30 prayer worth of gear and afk train on them. You will get effigies, crimson charms & break even profit on prayer pots. Obviously tab in once a minute or so, collect drop piles and tab out again. They have enough health to not have to check too often and you can expect at least 60 crimsons an hour. Fishing - make sure you do fish flingers (10 times) a week. You spend 5minutes running around, then 10minutes afk'ng with no interaction needed (other than not logging out ofc) Smithing - gold bars in edge - Around 1minute per invent, gives you plenty of tab out time. Magic - String Jewelery is 1 click per invent. So minimal interaction. Farming - 4/5 Herb patches - gives you a 5minute break from your work and allows you to refocus - do this when you remember. Again minimal effort and gets you some gpz. Mining - LRC Coal with pack yak & coal bag is pretty afk. However you'd need to do 5 levels of granite first which really isn't afk. Fletching - Yew longs - 27 per invent, around 50 secs to cut all. Bank etc. Mobilising Armies Requires the least interaction for the longest period. However needs around 1minute of action for every 4minutes of no action. Can't be afk'd effectively/you've already done Woodcut Cooking Crafting Construction Thieving Hunter Herblore Runecrafting Dungeoneering Summoning Agility Recommendation - Do fish flingers(cc: fish fling1 - w77) in between Smelting gold bars or training combat at black demons. Do not actively fish yet as you still have a lot of other AFK things to do first & cavefish at 85 will make that a lot easier to afk. Combat & Pack Yak are most beneficial to your active playtime. there are plenty of things to do afk, but it's a matter of priorities.

Click the link in my sig for information on effigies & their various rates and how effigy drop rates are determined. But to answer your initial question - no whether or not your assist is maxed will have zero impact on what drops you are eligible for. If you are slaying (with max stats etc)- it is possible to arrange your block/cancel list so that you receive an effigy, on average, once every 2-2.5 hrs or every ~100k slayer xp.
-
It's just a random estimate. But in tick related activities where mass amounts of interaction is needed on a per tick basis, you can imagine missing ~40% of ticks(remember a tick is only 0.6 seconds) or so will heavily impact on the xp acquired. Good example is barbarian fishing for that. But again depending on your play style, latency etc, this will be different for everyone. So always take Xp rates with a pinch of salt, however you can't dispute that they aren't actually possible, as the game based on its mechanics, allows it to be possible.
-
There's a big difference on what's theoretically possible and what is manageable i guess. If you play the game like a robot, expect to get close to the max rates. Otherwise drop 20% or so off the max & even more if you're half paying attention etc. So yes based on the mechanics of the game & ticks & dropping etc, etc, 80k an hour is entirely possible, just not plausible for most people. So most people refer to a particular method at their max (game mechanics allowing) rate. As it's easier to compare between methods that way. However it's not possible to dispute what is technically achievable. But depending on individual's play style you will forge your own personal xp rate.

@squareroot Most would be slaying for their effigies I guess. With a task list of 10-11 tasks it's possible for all of the tasks to be 2.5hours an effigy or lower. Or like some people quote ~100k slayer xp @ ~40k xp/hr avg. You will get less range xp per hr slaying, but more melee & hp xp I'd guess. Slayer also has the benefit of breaking even at least on cash. However if you have a huge cash pile ~1b+ it could be viable as if you spent every effigy on slayer xp, you'd be earning ~45k slayer xp/hr. You would lose out on using the lamp on say, rc Xp, but would gain 2x more xp in the slower skills as you are getting effigies at close to twice the rate of top slaying. Then you have to factor in the time it takes to make the cash (This doesn't take into consideration if you have a huge cash pile already). So since cave crawlers is -1.5-2m/hr and powerslaying is 0 - 1m+ an hr, every couple hours of cave crawlers attributes to 1hr of money making. Lots of efficiency values to work out & if anyone wants to do them, i'd love to add it to my effigy guide.

For farming you have to ask yourself how quickly do you want to finish the skill? Do you hate having to do a routine activity everyday (i.e a tree run). If no, then you're probably better off doing it cheaper but slower. As for regular tree runs, if you feel you could do 2 runs a day since they only take 3-4hrs to grow you can then think about doing 2 willows instead of 1 maple tree run for example. Similar xp, but significantly cheaper. But choosing how much you want to spend on it & how much xp you want, really depends on how much you like/dislike a 5-10min run every day. I personally do 2-3 willow tree runs when i remember and a calquat & pineapples each day when i remember(protecting all since it's guaranteed xp and relatively cheap). It's around 60k xp a day I think. However at that pace it should coincide with my other skills that I am also raising for effigies. There are various efficiency values to take into account, but for farming I believe it's skewed a lot more by how much you like/hate that 5-10minute run per day. If you hate it, prepare to do yew/palms, if you don't mind it, do it cheap & slow and invest that extra 10gp/xp you save, in another skill for a faster method in something you do dislike.

Eh, you can camp them with a unicorn with void, and if you are just slaying you only need to kill a few. Can also survive CT waterfiends in the void aswell. I don't see karil's as worth while for slayer at all, unless for instance, you aren't 99 defence or don't have access to an EEE (or soul split for waterfiends).
