Carnillean Rising
He does appear without talking to Ceril, I did not talk to Ceril once and got all the lamps. And indeed the rs wiki (the jagex one) does list 350qp location as piscatoris fishing colony machine room and the 400qp place as south gate of priffindas. But only 400qp is marked as ungettable, one would assume this perhaps means their test servers have already breached the 350qp quest mark (only 17 away so could be doable in like 6 quests)

Slayer
It's hard to say because slayer speed is entirely subjective to what tasks you get and (in some cases) what variant you kill.

Future Update Discussions
The thing is they say a game changing expansion not a rework. Perhaps Priffindas or the eastern lands? Or could be the beginning of the Dragonkin quest series proper (of course that desert quest about bob, wgs and rotm sort of started it) since they seem libel to kill and destroy stuff. I'd honestly quite like if the world developed more as we quest etc. I mean they have the tech to show different things to different users and hide npcs, even if they can't do no object in a place where there was an object. So why not do some cool stuff like have West Ardy renovated post-elf series, completely obliterate some cities during some dragonkin quests and sort of displace the important npcs to other locations. Heck Dragonkin destruction could offer a route to the Eastern Lands. Eg obliterate most of the Mithalin kingdom (eg falador, varrock, lumby, edge) and have us flee across the sea to new cities. Would also be nice to see the jungle return a bit in the desert as we help there and see morytanina, at least in places, change as myreque quests go on. Like maybe get Mort'on proper saved, spruce Burgh De Rott up a bit and the mierydytch area. I also think Eastern Lands would be good in terms of new skills, a whole new culture who does stuff different could lead into new skills.

Carnillean Rising
In addition to this could be expanded upon: 'Speak to Sir Ceril to find out where Philipe is gone. When you find him at each location, Philipe will hand you an experience lamp that can be used on any skill before leaving to his next adventure. Continue to speak with Sir Ceril to find Philipe as he travels around Gielenor!' Location 1 - King's Training Ground, just west of gate inside. Requires Biohazard and 50 QP 5k Lamp Location 2 - Outside Fremminik Mountain Daughter Camp Requires 100 QP 5k Lamp Location 3 - Shilo Village, Paramaja Inn (North of river up ladder twice) Requires Shilo Village, 150 QP and an inn ticket (bought from on location) 5k Lamp Location 4 - Port Phasmayts, in the pub. Requires 200 QP 10k Lamp Location 5 - Polypore Dungeon, by the skinweaver at the bottom Requires 250 QP 10k Lamp Location 6 - Dorgeshuun City, by Oldak's Lab in Ne corner of ground floor Requires Another Slice of HAM and 300QP 10k Lamp Locations are in set order, if you lack the QP requirement Ceril won;t tell you anything. Not neccessary to speak to Ceril though Phillipe does not move on until lamp is used. Also Mod Ash reportedly said in his FC stated that he has put in Phillippe locations at every 50 QP's up to 400 with some not being reachable yet. (Since we 333 qp max now that leaves 2 phillippe locations to unlock at later dates)

Forum Upgrade
Glad to see we are upgrading finally, though part of me feels it's been scheduled for an unwise time, seeing as this weekend is the first major all members beta event so evening GMT is probably gonna be like major peak traffic flow. But meh these things happen.

3 July 2012 - Carnillean Rising
Interesting it would seem Mod Ash has confirmed he has put in Phillipe encounters we cannot yet access, with there being 1 at every 50 qp interval up to 400. (50 req for trianing ground, 100 for mountain camp, 150 for shilo, 200 for port phas, 250 for polypore, 300 for dorge) So when we hit 350 qp and 400 qp two more locations and lamps should unlock and presumably Phillipe will reach level 138/200 (subject to pre/post eoc)

Behind the Scenes July
Lolwut. Please elaborate. Well seeing as the xp is not shared good tasks i.e high slayer xp tasks would be undesirable duo tasks, as you would only get half the xp you usually would You'd only get half the xp...but in half the time. Therefore it makes 0 impact to getting good xp really. Also with any task you want it to end as fast as possible, tasks that give the best xp do finish much faster anyway because by being faster they maximise xp per hour, which makes it entirely false to say 'if the task gives good xp, you wouldn't want it to end faster' because anyone who DOES care about good xp will in fact wnat every task to be as fast as possible. I mean sure a 1 hour task killing 60 of a monster that gives 100xp each may seem like good xp, but a 30min task killing 120 of a monster that gives 50xp is much better xp because it is faster.

What book are you currently reading?
I know exactly what you mean :P Although I actually do things slightly differently from most Goodreads users. I use the to-read list for books that I own but haven't read yet. And then I have a separate shelf for books that I *don't* own but want to read. I think most people just group them all under the to-read shelf. On an AWESOME note, I just won a Amazon gift card so I'm off to buy 8 more books!    I cba with making extra shelves, I mean I've plugged in over 100 books already and that's just a fraction of the books I've actually read that I want to plug in to get recommendations up and running good.

Building up more of a to-read list since getting onto goodreads =X

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
It certainly is working nice and tactically in PvP It's PvM where it does suck ass because they don;t fire anything back at you button mashing is the best route to get max dps easily because you do not especially want/need to save adrenaline for anything special most of the time.

One of my youtube videos is blocked worldwide?
Perhaps because the first video got flagged and they are looking into it and therefore posting copyright material for the exact same sources again is instantly blocked to avoid complaints. It does not really matter if it came from the exact same sites or not, it is still copyrighted video material which you do not have the permissions or right to use in your own videos. So either film something original or get used to having your videos blocked, it's not like youtube really needs more amateur montages of things user x likes/enjoys strung together with annoying music and automated fade effects just gets in the way of the good original content.

[ARCHIVE] Spelling and grammar corrections - completed posts
Fish flingers update is looking good, but one bit is slightly wrong/badly worded: Once you have found the correct bait and hook, your rating should be at least 66%. To get the last 33%, you need to find the casting range, determined by the line weight. You have three available weights, the small (1), medium (2), and large (3). Start with the medium (2) weight and add or remove the small (1) and large (3) weights. If these do not work, use combinations to test weights of 4, 5, and 6, until you hit 100% rating. I see what you are trying to say here but it comes off wrong. Start with 2 and add/remove 1 and 3 would imply either you do: 2 1+2 2+3 Or you do: 2 1+2 1+2+3 2+3 Which would mean you've tested either 2, 3, 5 or 2, 3, 6, 5 Therefore saying 'if these do not work test 4,5 and 6' doesn't make sense. It ought to be 1,4 (and 6). I'd also suggest this bit could perhaps be expanded a bit to clarify that once again you get 16% for a similar, similar for weights being 1 above or 1 below (eg 1 and 3 would give 16% for weight 2 being correct). This info could also lead to a clearer methodology. Eg Start with weight 2. If 2 gives you 83% try 1 and 3 If 2 gives 66% try 4. If 4 produces 83% go to 5 If 4 remains at 66% go to 6 Basically try every other weight until you strike on the right one or a similar one. And could be worth mentioning early on in the guide about the not quite right percent math because just referring to 16% and 33% could throw people as fish flingers only displays: 0% 16% 33% 54%(49? It ought to be 49 mathematically, but I seem to recall it showing 54, but not 100% certain) 66% 83% 100% Which don't *quite* fit the 16%/33% math perfectly and even further could help make the guide clearly as references to 16%/33% gain/loss could be replaced by 1 or 2 'level/value/interger' gain/loses referring to the table of the possible %s Could even go so far as having a little summary table (possible in hide tags) showing what right/wrong/similar combos each % could be so like 0% - Nothing correct or similar 16% - 1 element similar 33% - 2 elements similar or 1 correct 54% - 3 elements similar or 1 correct and 1 similar 66% - 1 correct and 2 similar or 2 correct 83% - 2 correct and 1 similar 100% - All correct Would fit nicely either early on or towards the end as a sort of 'advanced tips' type entry, especially as knowing these combinations (alongside the other info) can help you solve faster. Crew edit: This has been dealt with, thanks!

If you don't specific what part of the quest you are stuck on we cannot possibly help you further than directing you to a quest guide. So either give us some specific details or yes, the best option would seem to be giving up.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
@All the killing stealing stuff: It's all well and good saying it's not a problem or it's not hard to not have you kills stolen when you already have the best gear and a loverly superfast internet connection that never lags on an awesome computer; if everybody fell into this category it'd never be an issue at all. But we do not all fall in to this category and when you have a slightly older pc, poor internet or don't own the best gear (and any combination of the three) killing stealing does need something in place (eg the tagging system that whilst not perfect yet is a good idea to work around single-way combat) because otherwise we just get walked all over by people with the better gear, the better computers and the better internet coming in to yoink kills away and there's f all we can do about it.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Everyone with a year or more continuous subscription to date, plus an additional 50,000 are able to access it. Wrong. :P Many have subscribed for the beta and didn't get chosen for it. (Been member since 2008 and I know many other tiffers in the same boat as me) Not wrong. If you had CONTINUOUS membership for 12 months prior to june 1st AND signed up you got into the beta no questions asked, not even a chase of being chosen when you signed up it said that you were guaranteed in and when it launched you got in. It's only if you did not have 12 months continuous you had to be picked as one of the 50k, after you signed up.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Everyone with a year or more continuous subscription to date, plus an additional 50,000 are able to access it. All members will be able to access it on the weekends though. So it's not super exclusive no. I mean, most people probably can't access it, but its not like they only let a couple thousand in. And keep in mind that the pitiful participation includes the 50,000 that actually made the conscious choice to sign up, and you might end up with an idea of why Jagex probably isn't going to rush to let more in. If those 50,000 don't really want it, why should they expect anyone else who signed up to want it more once they are actually in there. Tbh the online numbers aren't too bad. I mean when you consider there's usually 100-150k ish online on the normal game out of the near 200m accounts. So 1-2k ish online of the beta folks is probably about same proportional for online at any one time.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Tbh for the beta they should've made a sort of dodgey hashed together server that is limited. Eg give us a random map space with most/all task monsters dotted about and the slayer masters for a week and give us an xp lamp in live game, that becomes worth more for the more hours we play. Then next week they could just throw us into a sort of perma-dg map with a bunch of rooms and most bosses but a way to do proper floors too and only dg gear of course and give us dg xp or tokens in live. Then week after maybe hash together a bunch of dungeons eg give slap many of the non-boss dungeon monsters in a map square and on the edges add the gwd boss rooms, barrows, kbd, kq etc. and make it so in-game we get like x% of drop value up to a limit of a few mil total And so on and so forth but in last few weeks give us full game BUT turn off skills (cept dg slay and cmb) and trade and make us instant respawn on death at same place and again give us some sort of incentive. Would kept things more focused and interesting.

BTS #7
I get the feeling that it will be fairly regimented but hopefully, for example, it'll be a bit PoH like so say at point X there is a broken bridge and you can construct a,b,c or d and then at point Y you need decoration and you can use e,f,g or h etc.

Combat Beta Forum
I certainly find it stifling my will to respond how limited it is. eg In first day I myself posted like 4 times how to sheath and unsheath weapons alone due to it beeng hard to find info in there so people kept asking. I posted all the fight caves monster weaknesses and they got posted again 3 or so more times since like it's brand new info we need to know etc. And we could make more thread but I think the desire has been stifled there too by the 'keep it all to one thread' policy from pre-launch

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Nice to know I was denied a spot so that people could use the beta to play out their bug abusing fantasies. I really hope that they remove their beta access or something. The whole thing seems to be proof that the RS community can't handle a beta: out of 50,000 and however many players with 12 months of membership there are, it seems like less than 500 are interested in actually testing things, and the rest went straight to gambling and duplicating rares. Even worse are the players that go "this sucks because it's obviously incomplete". :wall: It's hardly a bug that's duping rares and does it frigging matter? People are just having fun with it and all these duped items will disappear when the beta goes as they are stuck on thoose servers.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Whilst there are definitely issues with the beta I agree that this + the whole change takes time to adapt too are factors. After all we do basically have to relearn every single weapon, armour and monster for this change (even if they sort out the issues we want them to sort) so that's like thousands of permutations to reclassify in our minds made all the trickier by the fact we can't just go and forgot the 'old' info yet as we still need it in our heads for the live game.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I too think the weaknesses need balancing, I think it woud make sense to do something like: 1x = normal damage on the monster 0.8x = damage with the 'wrong' class (eg melee on mage) 1.1x = damage when using the right class but not the exact weakness 1.25x = damage when using the weakness So for example the fire cave creatures being mostly weak to water mage you'd get: Meleeing them = normal damage Ranging them = 0.8x damage Using air earth or fire mage = 1.1x damage Using water mage = 1.25x damage Or they could apply it more so to xp than to damage or something.

Yeah whilst the thread isn't exploding too massively yet (though almost doubled pages in under 24hrs) info is getting lost and we aren't being able to pool knowledge very easily in the one thread.
