  1. That Jmod made a mistake/misunderstood. It's not one or two people complaining about it, just on the hlf there's a lot. Apparently the problem is the rounding used. If you have say a 99.X % chance of succeeding, it displays 100% success rate, but still uses the true success rate. With on the order of 100k voyages being completed a day, there will be quite a few people that will have this problem.
  2. The simplest solution I've seen proposed is to change 5k games into a lower number of tickets, say 1k. As well as reducing the length of time that the cwars requirement takes, this would encourage people to play rather than loaf, as by winning games (and getting more tickets) they are making faster progress towards trim than simply loafing and therefore having a lower chance of their team winning.
  3. Banned because you have an underscore in your forum username.
  4. This won't be out for a while, but figured I'd make the thread :) I'm a huge Dragon Age fan, Origins was one of, if not the, best games I've ever played. I spent several hundred hours on it across various playthroughs. Dragon Age 2 I wasn't so keen on for various reasons, but Bioware have listened to a lot of feedback (and sales figures...) and are planning to make the next game more like DAO, so I'm moderately excited about it again :P There's a newspost here which has a little bit of information on it. If you're really interested there's a recording of a Pax East panel here which goes into a bit more detail (ignore the video title, it's about DA3 in general) Finally there's the Bioware Social Network here if you want to see what some of the developers and writers have to say, or just join in the speculation :)
  5. Pot washer at the local golf club, started when I was 15. Was a nice weekend job, 5 hours a day on a Sunday, £20 a week wasn't bad back then :P When I was doing my A levels I worked in outdoor retail Saturday and Sunday 9-5pm at my local garden centre, that was bloody hard work. The people were great, and I got very fit for free, but hard manual labour for minimum wage isn't something I'd want to go back to. I also learned far more useful information about plants from the e-learning I had to do there than during my Biology A level. I haven't had a job since starting uni. If I had better time management I could get everything uni wise done in the week and on Sunday and work Saturdays, but that's not gunna happen.
  6. You don't need to feel something for someone to have sex with them. One night stands (or longer purely sex based relationships) are a healthy thing.
  7. Heh, where to start. Asmodean from the Wheel of Time is one of my favourites (hence sig). He's so unashamedly selfish and amusing, and likeable despite being on the 'evil' side. Mat Cauthon from those books is another favourite, Dovie'andi se tovya sagain is one of my favourite quotes of all time. Mogget/Yrael from Sabriel/Lirael/Abhorsen. (I forgot that series's name, if it even has one) Tom Bombadil from LoTR, damn you Jackson :( The Hound and Tyrion Lannister from ASOIAF. Sonea from the Black Magician Trilogy. Lord Asriel from His Dark Materials (the idea of a human successfully standing up to a godlike figure). I was pretty young when I read those books, I remember reading the last one at night when we were on holiday and it made me sad for the rest of the holiday :( Making this list made we want to reread some of those :)
  8. Hi, gz on hlf unbanning, seems like there's been some sort of "unban RWH" thread on front page since I joined :P
  9. Merry Christmas!

  10. With most RS skills 6 hours is plenty of time, slayer is a bit tricky because of task luck. Each roll affects 20-30 minutes of time instead of a few seconds, so you're going to need a lot longer than that to get a reasonable approximation.
  11. Nope, Varrock FC is where the Fishy hosts without enough money to buy ranks in Apple are going.
  12. Finished my Tetsu plate scroll. I know I'm a bit behind and some people already have 6 (+?) scroll pieces, but still a nice milestone.
  13. What? It's the most afk activity in the game. The majority of trimmers didn't bot their games, so it's perfectly possible. Plus it's not like the guy broke down after doing every else legitimately, so not having trim handed to you on a plate is hardly the reason. At the end of the day, trim is an entirely cosmetic upgrade (that actually makes comp capes look worse IMO) so if you can't be arsed to do it, just don't do it. A hundred plus people have it already, so if you couldn't find the motivation to do it for personal reasons, it's not like you'd have received any kind of recognition anymore anyway. Seems silly that you got away with basically botting max, then got caught botting one of the most pointless things in the game.
  14. Slayer isn't 100k pure slayer per hour is it? I thought it was more like 80k.
  15. Enchantment for the production one, it'd tie in with the "Level up my X" idea they had.
  16. This is good news, but I have to be honest, I don't really care if someone bots castle wars. This is Win All Day all over again. You ban the higher profile players for RWT/botting, when they have an entirely negligible impact compared to the tens of thousands of gold farming bots running 24/7. Still, it is a nice gesture, even if it is insignificant.
  17. That's just another legacy rule Jagex don't care about anymore. When asked about, they said it's fine, but at your own risk if the person you shared with stole your items etc. Quite sad really.
  18. They're all players who've been 'named and shamed' several times on the RSOF (Other than Loyal). Perhaps Jagex actually manually checked their accounts out? People have been asking after some sort of filter to prevent bots from maxing and post max bots for a while.
  19. Although it's not a healthy thing to do, you wouldn't die from it unless you already had poor health. People have gone for far longer than 168 hours without sleep before. So 168 hours with an 8 hour sleep in the middle is perfectly possible, it's just not very probable you'd succeed.
  20. By paying with PayPal, you can choose your currency and save a lot of money, especially for Australians. Taylor made a spreadsheet where you can check how much you save. From his post on the hlf: "Enter the currency code of the currency you'll be converting from(usually your countries currency) in cell G11 for personalized numbers - you can find the codes here: http://www.xe.com/iso4217.php For GBP/USD, conversion to Mexican peso is currently the best value and saves you £4.16/$9.05 respectively. Make sure to check with PayPal's conversion tool before you make any transactions as their rates change twice a day" The spreadsheet is here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkM5bT18YZDCdG02ejNrLXA0OEItbmtwRXVrLWRXYVE#gid=0 You can save about £4/$9 by paying in an alternative currency. Pretty awesome job by Taylor.
  21. I reckon we'll be seeing items requiring the new recipes in a week or two at most. I have 3/4 scroll pieces for the Tetsu plate, and someone I know got a mission for 10 of the trade goods today, so they won't be as difficult to acquire as we originally thought either.
  22. .....How on earth did you get from point a to point b on that one? Well Jagex are now infamous for using updates to promote RWT. Prime example being when they announced double xp, causing items to skyrocket, then put bundles of items for buyable skills on the SoF, making buying spins a far more attractive prospect than it would have been. I think Golvellius was saying that if Jagex are manipulating the Nex markets, they could have been doing so as they were planning to sell Nex gear, and before that newspost they were cheap enough that no one would have bothered RWT'ing for them. A bit of a leap there, and I think he was using a bit of hyperbole, but since we've gone from the Loyalty Shop and RAF to full blown RWT of xp, gold, items and rares in the past 12 months, I'd say he'll probably end up being right this time next year.
  23. Gold isn't being sold for $25 for 50M, it's currently more like $.29/M (so under $15 for 50M) That's because of simple lack of demand, there just aren't enough RS players anymore to buy the gold produced by the bots. Quick terminology check: what I did wasn't really flipping, my mistake for calling it a flip. There was a gap of several days between me buying the item off the GE and finding a seller. Flipping takes too much time and is too low of a gp/hr method to be worth bothering with. You should be making well reasoned decisions on short and long term investments instead. Anyone can flip though lol. As I said earlier, anyone could have bought sara brews earlier today after that newspost and sold them now for an easy 30% increase in your bank. You don't need large amounts of money. If I had a 50M cash stack, I'd be buying torstols and torstol seeds whenever they went below 20k a herb / 200k a seed and selling them whenever they went over 25k a herb and 250k a seed. They repeat this pattern on a regular basis, except when BXP events occur. It's blindingly obvious and anyone can turn 50m into 200m+ in a couple of months, having only spent a few hours actually putting offers in, on just those two items. All it takes is being bothered enough to look up a few exchange charts and make a few notes of instant buys/sells to determine behaviour at certain events. If you have in the region of 10-100m, you can very easily turn that into the hundred mills range if you are willing to spend a few hours a day learning how the RS markets work. Since everyone who plays RS can use the GE, and almost everyone has at least 10m, then almost everyone was easily capable of buying nex gears before they rose today.
