  1. I'm not even going to try to explain what's wrong with your assertions about WoW and Guild Wars, but you do realize that TOR is not going to be based on the D&D system right? The combat is pretty much gonna be your standard WoW/LOTRO/EQ2 style MMO combat. The selling point of TOR is it's depth of story and fully voice-acted dialogue. (Which most RS kids don't care about).
  2. ^ That's just bad UI placement.. you can get the same stuff with less clutter:
  3. Thank you for being honest  Do you have some sort of superiority thing going here? Nope, I just appreciate honesty. Most people would lie instead of saying that.
  4. Never tried WoW's pvp myself, but runescape requires reflexes to respond to KO's as well. Also i have no idae what you mean by rotation based skill, but if you mean something like spamming your numberpad that is not skill. Rotations = spell rotation. WoW combat isn't spamming, it's knowing exactly when to pop certain spells, dealing with several different cooldowns, responding to the other player within a split second, dealing with and using crowd controls, etc. RS kids suck at WoW because the only skills they have are clicking and patience. When they play a game that actually requires reflexes and skill they call it a bad game. It's cute. (P.S. Runescape doesn't require real reflexes, your actions don't occur in real time)
  5. LOL. You're seriously calling WoW a grindfest compared to Runescape? Once you hit level 80 (takes about a month) WoW is pure gameplay. Raiding, Battlegrounds, Arena, etc. There's no grinding involved at all. The foundation of Runescape is xp and grinding. You can't even do quests until you reach a pre-requisite grinding amount. And crap PvP? Ya, Runescape's click-and-wait while inventory managing is so much better than WoW's reflex and rotation-based skill. Oh wait, you're a 12 year old. RS kids really shouldn't talk about other MMO's. The fact that you even brought up Silk Road is hilarious as well. (Protip: Silk Road is as much of an MMO as Maple Story and all the other awful f2p games)
  6. Quest content is unique, variety of gameplay, browser based and cheap. Those were the reasons I used to play, but they weren't enough to trump WoW and other MMO's. Currently not playing any until TOR comes out.
  7. I like how you care. Still a teenager I presume? Obsessed with looking "cool"? On a non-[developmentally delayed] note: Nice dev blog, i'm looking forward to the Graphics team one.
  8. Nah, R&J was lame. Just a boring fetch quest. Agreed. It's funny how everyone assumes that old ( or "classic" ) content is immediately good and worthy of staying in the game. Almost all of the classic content in the game is utter [cabbage] (firemaking ftw right?..). Jagex would be wise to re-do every single old quest. I still don't know why Doric's Quest exists. 5 second turn-in, literally.
  9. Online games slowly lose players. In other news, the sky is blue.
  10. Uh... it didn't take away any game development at all. The development team isn't part of the Marketing / Community Management Teams. The only thing the developers did was show up to the actual event to take part in the insider sessions. Next time try not making stuff up. Exactly - they're still away from Jagex HQ, away from programming and making the game. Of all people Mercifull would know because he was actually there. Ya, developers were away from Jagex HQ. For one day. On a weekend. Are you guys trying to be braindead? Planning was done by the marketing and community management teams. I don't care if Hitler was there, programmers have nothing to do with RuneFest. The fact that we got content on the week of RuneFest should already show you this. Just got home a couple of hours ago, and finally got the time to look for some pics and videos. I was shocked to see all the griping and unhappiness about the participation by all workers from Jagex. The event was imo AWESOME. I can not describe the fantastic atmosphere of all the co-workers from Jagex pulling together to create and pull off this day. The very act of working together for a goal like this is fantastic team-building in itself. To grudge that one group or another from the staff should not participate because it would take precious mins and possibly days from their work to make the game is rediculous. It is also incredibly narrow-minded to assume that only programmers are important in producing new material. The programmers would get nowhere without the content developers, the graphics team, the audio...and much more. As to the complaining, I say "Just be quiet and quit complaining!" (I would say it in rougher language, but don't dare). Runefest for me was a chance to meet all sorts of workers at Jagex and really see what the company was like. It was also a chance to meet my friends from CoE irl...which was awesome! It was a chance to learn a lot, meet people, and have fun....enough said, I am more than satisfied with the whole thing (other than the food which was too expensive and bad quality imo). I like how you didn't understand the argument at all and raised completely irrelevant points.
  11. The work involved wasn't done by [bleep]ing programmers moron.

  13. I've always loved how Runescape kids hate on WoW simply because they play Runescape. Most of the WoW haters have never played WoW at all, or played the 10 day free trial thinking leveling from 1-20 was representative of the actual gameplay (Raiding, Battlegrounds, Arena, etc) Stay classy Runescape kids ;) Classic example of a generic Runescape kid: "That's because world of warcraft is designed for adault nerds living in their parents' cellar, playing 20 hours a day. Runescape is designed for people with an average age of 15. Currently there are more people aged around 15 than people living in their parents' cellar with 20 hours+ every day to spare. Runescape ftw! Take that WOW. " Lol, I didn't know you had to hate every other MMO to be a fan of Runescape.

  15. Its great that you have an opinion, but do you REALLY need to insult everyone and make sweeping generalizations just because some players have a different definition of fun? I've seen that argument a million times. You aren't convincing anyone. ^ This
  16. I remember that Runescape was an awful, awful game. Anyone who says otherwise is too caught up in the nostalgia. (Been playing on and off since '03 - currently off)
  17. Pretty embarrassing on Jagex's part. I don't understand how you can screw up the same thing twice.
  18. With the leak on the old Runefest website saying it was going to be at the Olympia it seems more likely that there was a change in the focus of the event to something on a smaller scale. This enabled Jagex to refund the ticket cost. I do not believe that this was the intention from the start. Players get irritated at anything Jagex do. A sign that they mess up at almost anything they do. I hate to admit it too, but it is quickly becoming more and more apparant. Just hope that they fix that real sharpish and get back to how they used to be :( Ya, Jagex used to be so professional at organizing real-life events. Oh wait, this is the first one ever, get a brain.
  19. I dont know why Jagex continues to do weekly updates. There's a reason why Runescape is the only MMO to get new content every week. A release schedule like that is just impractical and pointless. I guess its because the majority of the community is young and their ADD requires constant new things to try out, but most of the community rages about every delay anyway.
  20. Something rediculously simple like the room system they already have in place at barb assault. this. the god damn island is big enough. Or just a general grouping system (enter floor complexity party size difficulty and floor size and wait) Mod Mark has already commented several times on making grouping easier in Daemonheim and all of Runescape. There will be a universal party interface built in to the game (5 years too late). Until then there are probably not gonna be major updates to the way grouping works.
