  1. I think there's nothing wrong with a healthy debate, as long as it's not taken too seriously. Because let's face it, these boards are for a role-playing game, and so these boards should be fun and interesting to visit. Debate's good, but like those school debate's in real life you should be able to go up to the opposition after, and shake his hand. It's like in sport, (rugby especially) you may give a guy on the other team a hard tackle, but you're only doing it to try and win the game, it's not unnecessary or personal. Afterwards you should be man enough to help the guy off the floor, share a joke with him and buy him a drink after the game. That's what it should be like, not the bitterness that gets carried from thread to thread. Show a difference of opinion, that's fine, but don't be afraid to admit you're wrong and don't make it personal.
  2. Well, i've just started pyramid plunder for my goal of 65 thieving, and it's definitely the best way of training thieving i've come across. Great guide! :)
  3. Just what article did he copy from? the entire article probably, i didnt even have to check, i just know its off of wikipedia I suppose you knew it wrong then... Stop ruining this nice thread about one of the greatest songs ever. i just checked and it is taken off of wikipedia Oh snap yes it looks like I did use some reference points from wikipedia. It's a useful article. Do you want me cite all the other references I used? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/soldonsong/ ... ayla.shtml http://www.superseventies.com/spderekdominoes.html http://www.12bar.de/layla.php#layla http://www.uncut.co.uk/music/eric_clapton/reviews/8542/ http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/6595872/layla And I didn't copy and paste a single word. I love this song, why would I just want to copy a paste a load off wikipedia? Good lord blue, what's so hard about just appreciating a nice song and reading a bit of information about it? Are users on this forum really that critical? Yeah, I used wikipedia, I suppose you'd have me do my own independant research on the song. I scoured through all the Layla videos to find the best few, and tried out most of the guitar tabs to find the most accurate one that I could find. I verified the keys that it was written in by playing the thing. That enough for you? Anyway...
  4. Congratulations on achieving such an incredible goal. :)
  5. Meh... You think they'd make an effort to try and rearrange the schedule for adverts today so that ones like this didn't come up. It wouldn't be that hard. Today is a day of rememberance and respect, and although it's probably not a big deal in the big scheme of things, it should probably have been avoided.
  6. Apparently, the song is Bombshell by Powerman 5000, which I got just by Googling those lyrics you gave. Kinda spammy post.
  7. This is where I lost you. It doesn't encourage violence. It's a game for entertainment. It's the same thing as watching a war movie. To be fair, Issy actually said she didn't think that it would necessarily encourage violence. Yeah i think on a day like today we should remember and honour the fallen men, not glorify them like this. Do I have a problem with the game in general? Of course not, it's for entertainment purposes only, and from what I know of games like Call Of Duty, they're actually suitably moving in their violence. Films like Saving Private Ryan wouldn't have had half the effect they had without using the violence that they did. It's what the war's were like, so why make it seem like anything else? At least it's reasonably accurate.
  8. I'm sure most of you will have heard of the iconic 70's rock song, Layla, by Derek and the Dominos. From the instantly memorble opening riff, to the beautiful piano coda, this song's got everything. It's also one of my favourite songs of all time, to listen to and play, and the history and detail behind this song is half of what makes it so special for me. The history of Layla Layla is the title track from the 1970's album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominos. This may sound fairly obscure, but the lead guitarist fronting up Derek and the Dominos was none other than Eric Clapton, who was trying to hide from the fame his work with Cream and Blind Faith had brought him. Clapton was going through a troubled time. He had fallen in love with a model called Patti-Boyd Harrison, wife of none other than George Harrison, his best friend. But she had turned him down, so his love was unrequited, a desperate, burning unrequited love. Not even his growing heroin addiction could numb the pain, so he channelled his energy into music. The result? Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. The Lyrics Fairly easy to see the unrequited love isn't it? :P Layla itself is a song split into two movements. The first movement was composed by Eric Clapton and legendary guitarist Duane Allman. It's made up of that unmistakeable riff, moves from D minor in the chorus to C sharp minor, and features a pretty cool solo. The second movement is a piano coda written by Jim Gordon, which he composed seperately and was begged by Clapton to use in Layla. It was originally written in a major key, and features Clapton and Allman on their slide guitars. Clapton reworked the song for his Unplugged album, toning down the passion and fire, removing the piano coda and rewriting it for the acoustic guitar. It's a great version, but in my eyes you can't beat the original. So enough talk, you must want to hear Layla now right? Video of Clapton playing Layla on tour The Unplugged Version with Mark Knopfler These are probably the best videos i've found of this song. If you play the electric guitar you might be interested to play the song. Again, after a fair bit of scouring the best tabbed versions of Layla for electric and acoustic respectively can be found here and here. A few reviews So there you have it, Layla. It might seem excessive to make an entire topic about a single song but I hope you can see that this is a fairly special song, and hits a special chord (excuse the pun) with me. If you've found a more accurate guitar tab please let me know but that one's pretty good I think, despite it missing the solo. So enough of me, anybody else like it? Any further questions don't hesitate to ask.
  9. I always though MCR were a bit emoish, but i'll try anything so i'll borrow it off a friend and give it a listen and see what I think.
  10. I'd rather have an eternity of happiness than a lifetime of sadness. Yeah but you tell me which is more likely :P

    I want one
  12. I'd rather have a lifetime of happiness than an eternity of sadness.
  13. Haha, oh man i remember when there were 20 people to a field killing farmers to get rakes and seed dibblers and stuff before farming came out. Didn't do them any good. I'll wait until it comes out before gathering anything.
  14. I agree with Adam on this one, hunter will probably be like slayer, and won't need vast quantities of resources to level like construction. As for the morality of selling items at a price that people will pay for them, that's life, even if people do overcharge. I wouldn't do it myself though.
  15. I've just observed the two minute silence in the UK for anyone who ever fought for their country. I have a tremendous respect for anyone who ever served for their country and died in the wars. Their courage and bravery is what gives us the free world that we live in today. Tomorrow i'll be parading as part of my RAF cadet force at my school and taking part in the rememberence service. They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them I've just remembered my great grandad served in the British Army during the Battle of the Somme, one of the most brutal battles in modern war history.
  16. First proper song I played on my electric guitar was probably Stairway to Heaven. I don't play the bass, but I learnt the bass line from Hysteria by Muse.
  17. Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt.I and maybe II The slow intro, and the simply beautiful, heart wrenching guitar solo is perfectly solemn and moving. Now We Are Free - Hans Zimmer, from the Gladiator soundtrack. It's sad, but uplifting and powerful. Very moving. What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Perfect :)
  18. Oh man i love being home alone. Time to think and do what you want. I can listen to music loud, raid the cupboards and fridges as much as I want. Watch bits of films and stuff, dance like nobody's looking (except the neighbours) :D
  19. Haha, like cabbage i'd have the time and brainpower to write an interesting and balanced article every week or even once a month. Besides, quite clearly i'm too nooby. :XD: I do like Pink Floyd though, but then again, who doesn't? :P
  20. I'm not a big fan of fake tans at all. I think real ones look great, but i'm sick of seeing these 40 something orange looking school mums at my school with peroxide blonde hair and sunglasses that cover half their plastic faces... :wall: Sorry, bit of a rant but it's so damn annoying.
  21. Let's see, I'm pushing 5'10/11" these days and weigh in at about 170 pounds. I used to be a little chubby but it's not fat anymore, I guess rugby just does that to you :P I eat a lot, exercise a fair bit and would say i had a reasonable metabolism.
  22. Lyrically I think the chili peppers are pretty powerful. I agree that the meaning's aren't always clear, and that some of the lyrics don't make much sense at all, but i've found a lot of meaning in some of their songs. I like looking for meanings in lyrics instead of them just being thrown at me. Californication, quite clearly, is about the influence and corruption of the Hollywood lifestyle on the rest of the world. I could go through each song analysing their meanings if I had a bit more time.
