  1. Edited your statement to make it more accurate :D It's more accurate, but still, there are lots of cases of kids who were born into terrible social poverty and difficulties, but managed to rise out of it and really make something of their lives. You don't have to be born into privelege to succeed, it just helps (sometimes).
  2. Really? Well if you can do that, how come you haven't already done it? Surely $1000 isn't that hard to acquire, it's not that much money. I'll be here waiting for your name on CNN and MSNBC. I think he's being sarcastic. I'd probably give it to a homeless person in a way such that it could only be used to pay for food, accomdation, clothing and whatever it takes for him to get started with a job.
  3. It values the welfare of the state over the welfare of the individual, and the way that it is implicated often leads to terror methods and a select few gaining immense power with the rest not given the chance to ever rise beyond their caste. Ironic that. Don't let him turn it into a debate about socialism. There are other threads about that. Fair enough. So to respond to his other comments. No it's not fair, but as proven in a lot of schools in rough areas, it's not necessarily a matter of funding or teaching, it's a matter of the kids believing in themselves. I'm presuming you live in America, the land where if you really believe in yourself and work hard, you can achieve anything.

  8. Hey there's nothing wrong with growing up playing cowboys or James Bond or any of that. It's all harmless fun at a young age when children should be encouraged to use their imaginations, even if it's with guns. It doesn't mean they'll all grow up to be dangerous gunmen or something.
  9. I suppose it's a guy thing, but it really is fun. Running round pretending your James Bond when your young with your friends is great fun, paintballing, target shooting, all good fun.
  10. I go to a private school in the UK. I don't have personal experience in the state sector, but I have a few friends in the state schools who all wish they could go to my school. Yes, it's expensive, yes you have to pass an academic exam to get in but I honestly don't think I could go to a better school. I love it, the teaching staff are generally awesome, very well qualified and clearly know they're stuff. The extra curricular and sports activities are second to none. The traditional house system is brilliant, the music is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. The exam results are also very good, but my school isn't simply an exam factory. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it really is bloody good. I agree with mad in principle, everyone should have access to a good free education, but some of the problems go beyond simple funding, it's lack of (good) teachers, standards and too much litigation and politics etc. I know a lot of state schools are frankly, crap, but it would take more than money to bring them round. If I had the money I would probably send my kids to a private school. I think they offer a better education and chance in life. However I probably wouldn't send them to an ultra posh, exclusive public school, because I think they pull the wool over their eyes.
  11. I've heard worse songs, I quite liked the U2 bit really.
  12. Sometimes, like in Leon, you couldn't help but feel sympathy for Jean Reno's character, even though he was a heartless assassin. Probably because he was in the presence of a pure evil character. To answer your question, sometimes, but only if they have something a bit more about them than your simply evil villain.
  13. Current comedians: Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand, Peter Kay. Old comedians: John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson and Ronnie Barker.
  14. I was at some parents I think, I was like 9 or something so I can't remember much of it except stealing everyone's presents from their crackers :P
  15. Sometimes we'll meet up in coffee shops in town before going to the cinema or for a bit of group shopping (semi fun). Normally though we'll chill out at someone's house, maybe go for a bike ride if the weather's nice, or play tennis or go swimming.

  21. Herb farming is massively profitable. Construction is the opposite, hunter doesn't go either way.
  22. It's false, as proven by nearly every major investigation that's been conducted into the killcount and drop theory at the barrows.
  23. I didn't think it was the typical Bond wit. The humor in this movie is a lot more character based, unlike the humor in other Bond movies. He still has his one liners, but they aren't that bad as usual and they don't have the same timing as the other always used to have, for example: after a kill. And yea, Bond was much more 'real', than previously. Yeah, I suppose I could see that. But I did think there was still just enough dry wit and one liners, but in more appropriate places than after he's just shot someone.
