11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
So now that the % based traits supposedly work, does that finally make the Pincer-area captain's trait voyages better than the +100 voyages from the Bowl? Anyone have one on a captain they'd like to share? I put a combat one on my now junked 10k Cursed-trait captain and found out they indeed didn't work before, but don't have any on my current captains.

it's usually one hour direct repair costs seem to have been brought down from the extreme "half of a randomly chosen stack of resources" to "50ish" Doubtful, I've had two chunks of ~500 steel taken out over the last few days.

May as well go with 4 telescopes (I do as well). What else would you use it on? * XP missions? I'll pass * Jade statues? Since they give a whopping 1 spice gain on one mission, pass * 1% resources? Hahahaha * Pandora's box? I get my standard issue one random per day without them.

I agree - speed captain seems worthless to me. Give me two morale, two SF and one combat. Four merchants is overkill - seems like a lot of days you won't roll four trade good voyages total, much less at once. Two at the most. I would go: 5 Morale 6 SF 4/5 Combat 4 Judge 4 Ox 2/1 Merch This is just gut feeling, no calculations done.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Looks like unless Jagex had another bullet in the chamber, the vote is going to fall well short of even the 470-480 "round up to 500k" number that MMG wants. Math: Date -- Time -- Votes -- Change 22nd -- 17:13 -- 275343 -- +0 (approximate launch of 07scape) 23rd -- 17:10 -- 329179 -- +53,836 24th -- 17:00 -- 362507 -- +33,328 (-38%) 25th -- 16:50 -- 389498 -- +26,991 (-19%) 26th -- 16:50 -- 410224 -- +20,726 (-23.2%) Projecting out the next 2 days and change, at an estimated 20% decay in votes per day would yield somewhere around 35k additional votes, or 445k total. Jagex is going to have to make a major stretch to make this look like 500k. Or else they just throw up their hands and give it away free anyhow. It's their game.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
A few thousand to me sounds more like less than 10k votes, but I guess we'll see in the coming days. :D Looks like 20k. From the Q&A:

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Although, Mod MMG said in the Q&A that if the vote were to get close, he would 'kick in' a few thousand votes to push it over the line. So the benchmark is no longer 500k, but more like 470-480k, which it is decently likely to achieve.

Anyone remember what page the 'ideal' pincers/end game crew setup was on? Or what it is?

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
I wonder if people will beg for some non-PK, generally considered awesome useability upgrades (things like bank improvements) and if they will be shot down by the purists who want to keep the 'snapshot' vibe in effect.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
I refuse to vote for this. I'm not concerned with Jagex's business handling of 2007scape (whether it's profitable or not, whether it takes away resources from current RS, etc.) but I don't want to see the community more fractured than it already is. Sure, supporters of 2007scape will say that a good chunk of the players that will play currently do NOT play RS, but the fact remains that a few who still play RS today will gravitate over to it. This reduces the active player base of the current RS somewhat. Plus it only encourages other small factions of the player base who will croon for other odd stuff (why not 2001scape?!) because the 2006/private server players got their wish. It sets a terrible precedent. I won't vote for it, and will not pay extra to play it. If it eventually becomes free for current members I'll probably drop by on occasion, but I won't invest significant time in it.

How many RuneScape originals from 2001 are still here?
Already posted in this thread, but... April 2001 here. Not on the 2k list, neither are either of my two friends who played before me and introduced me to the game. Still around, even after attempting to quit several times.

- Geilinor Games - 24/7/2012
Well head to head is an unquestioned train wreck gameplay wise, but I don't mind because of the XP. Who here plays minigames for the game aspect? All we want is XP anyhow. </troll>- 10 Year Veteran Cape + Solomon's Store, 17th July
All this talk of people not being able to get 10 year cape...wouldn't surprise me if Jagex only counted since the first day you bought members or something. Or it glitched. Who knows. I'm still sad there's no official record of us 2001ites, we're all lumped together in day 1 of members for our creation date.- What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Xenoblade Chronicles. Seriously, the Internet was right. This is a game of massive scope with tons of stuff to do. I'm about 40 hours in and loving it so far.- The Legend of Zelda Thread
Anyone else here been to any of the 25th Anniversary Zelda Symphony concerts in the USA? If you haven't - go. I just got back from the Orlando concert, and it was outstanding, and considering this is Nintendo who licenses their music for these sorts of things about once a century, it may very well be a once in a lifetime thing. [spoiler=Set list]1) 25th Anniversary Medley (basically the theme played on the Zelda Symphony website) Intros, where Jeremy Somebody and the director introduce themselves. Jeremy talks a bit about how much the Zelda series has meant to him over the years, and he means it - he pulls out a gold Legend of Zelda NES cartridge to show off. 2) 2D Dungeon Themes - a medley of dungeon music from LoZ, AoL (palace theme ftw!), ALTTP, LA, and the Oracle games. This made me forget how bland and repetitive some of the old dungeon music could be. 3) Kakariko Village Theme (Twilight Princess) (from the CD) 4) Ocarina of Time Medley 5) Ocarina Themes Medley - a bit of a mishmash this was, they spent a lot of time in this and the OOT medley around Saria's Theme 6) Wind Waker Theme - from the CD. The composer spoke briefly about how it was gratifying to see people appreciate a game and music about a character that uses a baton, then she pulls out a replica Wind Waker and uses it for the remainder of the show. Intermission 7) Great Fairy's Fountain Theme (from the CD). Would have been better if they just used the Menu Theme from Skyward Sword, but I digress. 8) Twilight Princess Medley (from the CD) 9) Link to the Past Medley Thunderous applause and about a 2 minute standing ovation later, and...that's it? Of course not: Encore 1) Ballad of the Wind Fish More applause, another standing ovation, and "just one more": Encore 2) Gerudo Valley (from the CD) The best CD theme in my opinion, and it does not disappoint. Even more applause, the audience begs for one more song, and Jeremy says that by overwhelming demand, Nintendo allows them to play yet one more medley: Encore 3) Majora's Mask Medley. Sadly they didn't take anything from the vastly overlooked Majora's Mask Orchestrations album, but they did throw in the Song of Healing, so I guess it was OK. Apart from a small portion in the opening song, nothing from Skyward Sword was played, which surprised me, since it was the main attraction in this whole 25th anniversary business. Also, it actually had orchestrated music. A great time overall. Lots of cosplay, if you're into that sort of thing. I came in a dress shirt and slacks and was waaay overdressed. :/ It was almost all 20-something nerds (like myself) who mostly wore Zelda shirts of some kind. I figured it would be more formal than that - silly me.- Behind the Scenes July
10 year cape: Yes! Quest sounds good in theory, let's see how well the writing, etc. is done for it. Social slayer will probably be ignored by me, unless the duo rewards wind up being amazing. Also, I would need to acquire friend(s). Everything else is meh.- June 30th, 2012 - Third time's the charm?
HYT RSC mass. NOW. I'm not a veteran Classic member, so I'm on server 2 in Draynor.- The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Shield bash? Not very powerful for sure, but it could at least be used in tandem while some other person deals damage while you stun them etc. with shield bash.- The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
brb gotta get another cr Those running animations look clunky. Yes, your new weapon holding poses are great, but people don't tend to run like that. I think the graphics team needs to be put back in the dungeon a bit longer.- 06-June-2012 : Fish Flingers Improvements + Squeal of Neptune
WARNING: Most of this post is pure speculation. Don't take any of this to be a true and factual depiction of the future RS market, as none of us know for sure what the value of these items will be in the future. Some assembly required, batteries not included. OK, so Jagex is deliberately trying to make a new discontinued item. I think this will be a failure on their part. Why? They've forgotten, or are ignoring, the formula by which all the other discontinued items were made. RS was a much smaller game by playerbase in 2001-2002 when the discontinueds were dropped. We had, what, 3 or 4 servers for the 2001 drops and a few more in 2002 when members launched, but that was it. The active daily playerbase probably was in the five digit range (XX,XXX). Also, as someone mentioned before, pumpkins and easters were consumable and also very good foods for their time (shark and swordfish were rare and not sold much, lobster was the main general use food then and pumps/easters heal the same IIRC). How did they become hot commodities? Two factors: One, playerbase growth. We now have an active playerbase in the tens of millions (approx), which is several orders of magnitude larger than what existed in 2001 and 2002. Of course items are going to be comparatively rare as the user count grows. Items from 2001 (santas partyhats, discs, and pumps) are comparatively more expensive than other things because there were less players then. Supply and demand at work. Two, Jagex is specifically trying to drum up interest in these things, which creates too much hype around them. Party hats etc. were not expected to be discontinued, so people didn't care much about them. True story: A week after the cracker drop, I deliberately got rid of about 15 hats on my character, reasoning at the time that the event was over, it was fun, but these are boring and useless now. (I think I also needed bank space) I also remember eating some pumps and eggs because, well, food. The drop of Santa Hats was the last discontinued item specifically because people hoarded them to be sold later, which did not sit well with old Jagex. (People sat around all day grabbing Santas at the time they were dropped - if we had even 10x the players then these might be worthless) The point is, people are actively trying to collect these things like Santas. Obviously this is what new Jagex wants ($$), but it clashes with their aim to make the fish mask a new rare. There simply isn't the user growth left in RS to get a jump in players like we got from 2001 to 2007+. Too many of these will be generated between now and the end of the summer for them to be worth much. I suspect these may eventually reach the price of a low rare (50M or so) but will never get higher and will take many years to do so.- 06-June-2012 : Fish Flingers Improvements + Squeal of Neptune
You mean some poor sap got conned into buying Supreme Poison Purge for Jagex to discover it doesn't work? Whoops. Anyways, not really happy with the SoF update, not interested much in Fish Flingers (I assume the xp boosting clothing will take a long time to earn), so I guess I'll continue waiting for the combat beta. And my 10 year cape.- BTS June
Still no 10 year cape. *throws fit* At the rate they're going, it's going to be an 11 year cape by the time it comes out. Indeed, the combat update better be absolutely monumental to cause such a dearth of updates this month. - Geilinor Games - 24/7/2012
