  1. I would be. Sadly half the weeks are probably going to be useless skills (like this week, Cooking) that will be stupid to gain XP in for most. It would give an incentive to train those skills that I hate but would love to gain lots of levels in. As a general thought - this CC is awesome. I have sucky internet, virtually no DG experience outside of w117, but thoroughly enjoy my time here. I'm taking a break for now to get 99 Slayer + Summoning, but will be back soon enough.
  2. Admittedly I don't monitor the RSOF for Jagex posts. I think I visit RSOF approximately once a month on my own, maybe one or two more times beyond that if linked there by a forum post (like the OP in this thread). Have they admitted to bots being a problem other times? If so, I admit to being completely clueless.
  3. I see this not so much as a PR grab, but as the first official acknowledgement from Jagex that there is a problem that needs fixing. Is it the right solution to the problem? Not likely, when there are other potentially better methods (Automated scripts that catch bots that repeat actions, retconning all the gameplay in RS to be vastly less repetitive so as to not be as bottable, etc.) but this is a start. Give them ideas (for our friends in the HLF, maybe there is a good place to start) and maybe now they'll listen. I'm encouraged by this development.
  4. Can I have the neuro-transmitter thing sooner than 2026? Getting in 8 hours of RS/schoolwork/etc. while sleeping would be impressive.
  5. Important question: How much of a boost does the timer get? The cynic in me is expecting it to be around five minutes or less, thus rendering this spell practically useless (unless the combat buff is win), as a one time boost of about 10% of a familiar's timer is just not worth the inventory space it takes up. If it's significant, however, things may change.
  6. I vote no to Champions Challenge, but yes to Shattered Heart. I voted based on the basis of time and/or luck involved. Champions Challenge is all about luck. Yes the average drop rate tends to be in the 1/5k range, but you could easily go twice that number of kills or more without one. If the challenge were more straightforward in obtaining the scrolls I'd be in favor of it. As it is, it's simply an excuse to tack an arbitrary 500+ hour activity (sorry, distraction) onto a cape. Not in favor. Shattered Heart takes a long time, but it's in literal time (30 weeks) as opposed to total time. A good player can collect all their rocks within an hour or two each week. Same with court cases - an hour or two's work every week/two weeks over a period of time. Castle Wars veteran cape would also be a no from me, again from the time standpoint - it's a bogus arbitrary X number of hours. Where does the line fall? I don't know. Chompy hats are somewhere in that gray area.
  7. Barf. Give me my 10 year cape and/or the RSC cape if it's pixelated-ly awesome.
  8. When C2 fishing, all you get are your highest two fish resources. For me, at 82 fishing, I currently get salves (70 fish) and blue crab (80). If I get 90+ that would switch to blue crabs and morays. I find that I consistently fish salves every 2 game ticks (fastest rate) whereas occasionally blue crabs take an extra tick or two to fish. Even when considering the slight delay in blue crabs, however, they are still utterly fantastic XP and you should not skip any higher level spots because of delays in fishing them.
  9. Sorry but it is against RuneScape rules to copy the details of a message and paste it elsewhere (notice the note below the message). Just read that. Thanks! QFC for anyone interested, I don't think that's really violating any rules: 42-43-479-62575967
  10. I got it. Would it be against any rules to repost it here for those curious? (It's an invite to an activities event, where players will go around and play various activities all weekend.)
  11. The good news is, if you can get to cardinal in a guild, guild change quests become so infrequent that you could go months at a time without one. My hero, since getting cardinal around November, hasn't had such a quest yet. It's possible that as a cardinal you don't get any guild change quests at all.
  12. Emergent gameplay...I wonder if these kinds of things is what Jagex expected to happen. (C2 Dung fishing, Cooking wines w/brawlers, etc.) Runescapeologists have been very successful in finding new ways of training lately!
  13. More than likely they will use February 27th, 2002 - first date of RS members and also the first potential date that account recovery questions could be set - my account still has that date listed on the lobby screen.
  14. I can has 10 year cape? April 6th 2001 was my creation date, and if they decide for some reason that they can't determine creation dates in 2001 I was a member from day 1 (Feb. 27, 2002) as well. I hope it looks good with bunny ears, which is a requisite part of my skilling outfit.
  15. This garbage was intended? This is so annoying on the monsters it affects 100%. I don't care about potentially increased drop rates, I care about seeing the message when it actually affects the drop. Here's a quote from the news post itself: So instead of shining "when it has made a difference to your drops", it shines "when it has a chance of making a difference to your drops." Stupid.
  16. Because those herbs are priced way too high. There was not enough supply to fit the demand. Just wait for the seeds to drop in price and everything will be the way it was. Torstol I can buy the argument that it may be overpriced, but it both requires 85 farming to grow (and is also the highest level farming product currently) and is used in the best potion in the game. But toadflax? It's barely more expensive than ranarr, itself only the third most expensive "common" herb. Time will tell what the market will price the new supply of herbs (and seeds) at.
  17. Drop received: 500 raw shark (x2) Monster killed: Dark beast ROW worn: Yes Kills: 2 drops in a task of 209 Drop received: Uncut dragonstone Monster killed: Aberrant spectre ROW worn: Yes Kills: ~211
  18. To continue discussion of the update as a whole - my biggest beef with the new ring of wealth/rare drop table drops is the herbs. Why couldn't Jagex give you 100+ drops of ranarr, lantadyme, or dwarf weed, herbs that are in large supply already and much more able to handle (price-wise) changes in supply? Players supply these by the millions via combat as it is, only a small percentage are farmed. Instead, they choose to focus on the three rare, mostly farmed herbs to give as drops, potentially destroying their market (and the profitability of farming said herbs). Farming is, by a very large margin, the main source of these herbs in the market, a fact which changed greatly with yesterday's update. I would much rather they create new items (like the Vecna skull) to give players money with (it would be even better if the skull gave a +8 magic boost, better than anything currently available, giving it a serious use other than in no-pot duels which may or may not be intended) or use only items like battletaves which are not likely to be affected much by supply increases. Why (potentially) destroy farming?
  19. Not all smiths and crafters were in Blueroses greedy group. Some crafters always offered free crafting services to everyone bringing the ingredients to be crafted without demanding payment like the smiths did. Point #1 - correct. Not everyone supported Bluerose's methods. The renegade smiths that tried to "break" the smithing monopoly mostly supported Musashi22, the second (IIRC) player to get up to the high 90's in smithing and provide rune armor. But my original point is this - back then, rune armor and weapons were the best of the best. The ONLY way to obtain them (especially weapons; over time more and more armor would become available in shops and as monster drops, and with the release of members dragon longswords and battleaxes as quest rewards) was by smithing. So for the golden period from July 2001 until February 2002, Bluerose was the largest supplier of top tier melee armor and weapons. She chose to profit (greatly) off of her skill, as I believe she should have. Just because someone decides to give away their craft for free does not mean that the method is not profitable - you could make, easily, the most money in the game at that time skilling, as opposed to monster hunting. Same with crafting - just because people gave away products like diamond and dragonstone amulets for "free" (if you provided the materials) doesn't mean that they could profit greatly from it. That would be akin to today's bosshunters giving players free Bandos and Nex armors if they provided them the potions and food to hunt the bosses.
  20. Skilling never made the amount of money combat did. I don't know what your talking about. Not all skillers do it for money anyways. In 2001 the only way to obtain rune armor was to smith it. Bluerose13x (the first 99 smith) made money hand over fist, as did the few people that had 85 mining back then. Crafters that could make the first diamond, then dragonstone amulets made lots of money as well.
  21. Meanwhile, my hero has moved on to his fourth pet - a dandy lion. This is one of the pro pets, right? (Along with Biowolf and Trojan Horse) Level 39, with his second-to-last skill, a travel skill. That gives him six combat (great), two travel (good enough), and one trade (utterly useless). A seventh combat skill at level 42 is preferred, though I would be OK with a travel skill.
  22. I would prefer that there are neither bonus weekends nor xp multiplying items. Cheapens the game (insert crotchety 2001 player rant here), screws with the economy (those that say Hati didn't, it did for the first few days), and in general is a cash grab by Jagex intended to produce a quick pop in subscriptions. That said - Jagex is going to continue them. BXPW is a major strain - I pulled 24+ hours this weekend, and for what reason? I felt like I had to make use of it or it would go to waste. I'm kind of burned out of high-stress RS at the moment (RC, followed by Summon). Hati paws didn't do that. Also, it didn't GF the economy for weeks instead of days/hours. So, more multiplying items please.
  23. I guess this is the de facto "what did you do on Bonus XP Weekend" thread, so: Day 1 recap: Turned in 20 or so long/curved bones on 2.7x: 71 to 72 Construction. Tele'd to ZMI and RC'ed for 8 hours: was gonna be 10, but after getting my last level at 8, I saw that the last two hours wasn't enough for another level and I didn't want to RC past 10 hours (or 8 for that matter). 66 to 73 RC. Got a random agility level from random event lamp because A) I was close enough and B) I needed the level for run energy restore (lol), 73 to 74 Agility. Then I slayed my final 100k or so charms for 96 summoning, sorted out my supplies for said level, threw curses at Jagex for giving us 40 trillion spirit shards in summoning shops but only 5k pouches (when I needed 22.5k), and finally summoned a small amount to get the timing down for tomorrow. 79 to 80 summoning so far, though I am far from complete.
  24. Mmm did not notice that, I only glanced at the first two lists. Wonder if that affects the calculations, or if it's just a display error.
