  1. I don't see why something that Jagex made a main part of a mini-game should not be allowed. This is a similar to the many people who rant "NO CAMPING" in first person shooters such as Halo. Yes, it can be annoying when someone does it to you, yet it is also effective when you execute it. If the game developers have done nothing to discourage it and offer situations to do it (and in the case of Fist of Guthix, seem to promote the activity), I don't see why it should be disallowed. I have a hunch that most people who think that hiding should not be allowed are more frustrated at their lack of success in the minigame due to the hiding of their opponent, much like the people who hate anyone who camps in Halo.
  2. Who says that every item Jagex releases has to trump the other items already released? I believe we need a decent, somewhat costly item that isn't quite as good as the Dragonfire Shield. The dragonfire shield still costs around 20 million gp, which is quite expensive to lots of players. Not everyone can or wants to invest that much in a shield, which you then have to charge up to unlock its full potential. I personally would like to see the Dragon Kiteshield released as an item that requires a quest to be able to wield it. If I had to guess, I would pick the final quest in the Rise of the Red Axe series, which is said to be a Grandmaster quest. So do we need a dragon kiteshield? Jagex has given us lots of items that we don't need, some of which barely anybody uses. Even items, monsters, quests, and areas that are extremely popular and widely used are not necessarily needed by the Runescape community. I don't think there will be people who will cry if we don't get one, but I'm sure people will use it if Jagex does choose to reward us with a new shield.
  3. And cats in Gielinor were supposedly intelligent... [hide=][/hide]
  4. Ok, let me break this down and provide an analogy. Before skill capes, having a 99 was an achievement. Now that there are skill capes, it's not anymore? :| I think that's similar to saying that people who won the Stanley Cup 30 years ago can't call winning the Cup an achievement anymore because now more people have won the Stanley Cup since that team won it that year way back. I bet more people would have gotten 99s in skills even if skill capes weren't introduced. Maybe not as many as now, but it's still an achievement nonetheless. You might be able to argue that some skills are harder to achieve than others because of various reasons, but all skill capes are still achievements. And what is wrong with getting a skill cape just for getting a skill cape? This is Runescape, and you can do whatever you want(within the rules of course). Drapit also said some things I agree with.
  5. Off topic: Actually, if it's in the front five results, then it isn't necessarily reliable. One of the criteria Google uses for ranking the hits it finds for your query is popularity: how many times that page has been visited. Wikipedia is very popular, so that's why it usually comes up in the top five results. So you can't really say that it's reliable because it shows up in the first five searches on Google. Also some companies pay Google to make their websites show up in higher search results. You also failed to notice that he said "Wikipedia isn't ALWAYS reliable." Hope you get it this time. On topic: Thanks for the comments.
  6. ^^ is correct. Zetterberg has been all over Crosby in Detroit. And Detroit gets that last change, so Zetterberg will be on the ice 99% of the time Crosby's on the ice. Pittsburgh has been really bad at the Joe this year(then again, most every visiting team has been). I just don't think they can pull away. Especially when Detroit takes it up to the next level.
  7. Will someone please tell me why the reffs have consistently been awful when they've played in Pittsburgh this year? They didn't call any penalties on Pittsburgh till the end when they were up 2-0. And then when the defender shoves Zetterburg into into the net, Zetterberg gets a penalty?! The Penguins got so lucky that game was only 2-1. It could have been like 4-1 Detroit winning. And they're not gonna be able to play as well in Hockeytown. In Finals games over the past two years, the Red Wings have outscored them 21-6. Don't think that ratio is drastically going to change. Unless of course it gets bigger. I still don't think this will be a close game by any means. I'm hoping Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to both get Kronwalled. If it goes to overtime, I pick Marian Hossa to get the Cup-clinching goal. By the way Pens fans, Rookie Justin Abdelkader has more goals than Sidney Crosby in the finals when he's played in half the games Crosby's played in. Pavel Datsyuk has as many points as Crosby in playing just two games. The Red Wings have outscored the Pens 11-2 at Joe this year in the Finals, and 21-6 over two years. Just some things to digest before your team loses. The Cup is staying at home, Hockeytown.
  8. These four screenshots from Vinesweeper. Me and someone else got quite a bit of land uncovered.... until someone who didn't know how to play messed it up! #-o :wall:
  9. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 Once again, it is time for me to update this, since I only do it about twice a year. >_> I've almost got all my levels up to 70. I also completed all the Diaries up to this point and I still have the Quest cape(loved the Hunt for Red Raktuber!) I'm excited for more quests. Bought full dragon finally. I've also found I love killing evil trees, it's a fun minigame. Now here's what I really wanted to post about: 4 screenshots. These are from playing Vinesweeper. We got quite a bit of land uncovered... until someone who didn't know how to play messed it up. #-o :wall: Happy Scaping! FF13
  10. The Grand Exchange is inaccessible right now. Yet some banks are accessible, as long as they have a bank booth. It appears you can't talk to an banker across the bank booth anymore, that's why you can't use the GE. I also was unable to charter a ship. =/
  11. Thanks for the comments guys. I don't write fiction as much as I write non-fiction, but I'm glad you liked it. I hope you enjoy the other part(s).... I'm not telling you how many parts in the story there are. =P Enjoy! FF13
  12. I have a few updates to this: - I am not sure whether these bugs drop charms are not. I have killed several and have not gotten any charms. If someone can post a snapshot proving they do drop charms that would be helpful. -It does not appear that these bugs respawn after being killed. They do reappear after leaving the basement floor though. Therefore, an efficient way to train on these bugs for those seeking a lower level Scabaras slayer monster would be to kill the two right by the stairway, go up, then back down the stairs, and then the bugs will reappear. Don't bother going for the other bugs in the eastern hallway as they are too far away.
  13. Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 Wow I really haven't updated this in awhile. Nor have I really played in awhile. But the call of two new quests and an achievement diary lured me back in, especially since my free time has increased a bit since then. Just two days ago I got my first dragon drop ever! A shield left half! I also got the 3 crystal key halves that day, one tooth half is pictured in the below picture. In more recent aberrant specter slayings, I've gotten 3 rune full helms. I guess my ring of wealth works after all. I also just recently got a friend to play Runescape. It is interesting watching them, because they do not have the same difficulties or advantages that I had when I started playing over 5 years ago. They are content doing little tasks such as collecting cow hides, bread, chickens, or balls of wool for various NPCs around Lumbridge. I've taught them how to tan hides and make leather materials, and I showed them where an anvil in Varrock was. Yet the friend hasn't really jumped on this yet. They also made their first 10k already within 3 days of playing(I guess the 5k from the holiday quest helped). I also still have to convince them to start trying ranged, magic, and runecrafting. It will be interesting to see how they develop as a player. I also feel very inclined to help them; I've already given them two sets of iron armor and some iron arrows. I wish you Happy Scaping and a Merry Christmas! FF13
  14. Thursday, August 14th, 2008 So it's about that time of year again where I actually find time to update this. Right now I'm mining clay to make house teletablets to aid in flatpacking for construction. But at this point I have realized that I need to make a mahogany lectern so I can make the house teletables myself. Which means I'll need to spend 130k on a gold leaf. Not too bad though, I've been making battlestaves 3 or 4 times a week for the past month, and the cash adds up. Summoning has officially passed Runecrafting in exp, which makes Runecrafting my lowest skill. Now, unless I train one of those heavily, the Tears of Guthix will give me exp in those two skills and prayer and herblore, depending on when they all catch up. Farming has taken a leap ahead because I've done so many oak and fruit trees. It's nice exp. And those fruit trees are really quite cheap! It's a steal! Go check it out on the Grand Exchange! Happy Scaping, Foodfight13
  15. I know how you feel. It's not just the evening of the teams, but also how the wands work, the size of the orbs, how they react to your wands, and where the orbs respawn. I was very frustrated at my first experience with this game yesterday. There were quite a few rants going on the RSOF, and I hope Jagex saw some of them, because they have a minigame to fix.
  16. Well Jagex certainly wants to end the Summer with a bang! A runecrafting guild, a minigame and two quests will certainly keep us busy this month! I'm just dissapointed that I won't be able to do anything until Saturday, because I'm gone from Monday to Saturday! Great job Jagex! We look forward to more and better sneak previews!
  17. Well, they'd please those people such as you who want it. I remember when Rocking Out was released there was a bit of complaining. I myself was frustrated as I had 5 long levels of smithing to train. I guess I'd like a quest with high level requirements, but not so much in combat. I think a high-level summoning quest is in order, as there really isn't a Summoning Quest yet. Or maybe a farming, hunter, or construction quest that had a high requirement. I think we're always going to get complainers when higher-level quests are released, but I highly doubt any of them would ever quit over a silly cape. I know I sure wouldn't.
  18. I don't think we don't need any extremely good weapons anytime soon. Godswords are still hugely expensive and still rare. I think if there's any time that Jagex releases new equipment, it is when the latest equipment isn't so rare anymore. Obviously there will have to be a time to stop, I don't think we can keep adding new weapons and armor all the way until we have weapons that need 99 Attack and Strength to wield, and are rarely dropped by some level 600+ beast. The combat spectrum shouldn't stretch too far out and leave everyone else behind in the dust.
  19. The highlighted text below should be changed. A good example would be "all players can access this dungeon." I don't have official confirmation from a player that people who have combat levels higher than 126 can't enter, but it seems highly unlikely and quite ridiculous. Most likely the original writer was trying to emphasize the wide range of players that could enter(mainly everyone) and the paragraph wasn't changed with the update of the Summoning skill, which allows players to have combat levels higher than 126.
  20. Two absolutely great letters! But I wonder who on earth has the time, energy, and desire to figure out the Did You Know part? Wow.
  21. Due to the updates that got rid of player killing in the wilderness the following highlighted passage may want to be changed. I would recommend changing it to "a good idea in Bounty Hunter and other combat minigames because it distracts the warrior."
  22. This isn't so much about the map, but about the information on the map page. It says beware of Revenants, but I looked all over the dungeon for a Revenant and found none. The Black demons and poison spiders are still very much a threat, but there are no Revenants in the Wilderness section of the Edgeville Dungeon.
  23. The Rules are simple. Person 1 inserts a coin. Person 2 decides what Person 1 gets and then inserts a coin. Then the next person comes along and decides what Person 2 gets and this goes on and on on. You can give anything to the person above you that would not violate the Tip.It Forum rules. Here we go! *Inserts coin*
  24. Define "succeed at Runescape." I think it should really be changed into "succeed in your opinion at Runescape." I'm sure there are plenty of people that would have succeeded in their own opinion, but not in other's. I'm sure you've all seen or witnessed examples of that. "Playing Runescape isn't about being at the top level, but about being at your top level", whether that is completing a quest, getting a skillcape, having a certain item, or meeting a level in a skill, killing a monster(or a certain amount of them), or whatever you so choose. Isn't that the whole point of Runescape, to do whatever you want? Just have fun! I very much agree with what Pokemama said.
