  1. Looks like there could be a upset, or even two today. India is looking weak against Bangladesh, and Ireland had Pakistan all out for 132. If Pakistan loses against Ireland I think they would not make it to the final 8. Edit: India lost to Bangladesh. If India does not beat sri-lankia there would be a good chance they would not make it to the last 8. Ireland is in a strong position against Pakistan. Rain and low light has currently stop play. If the game does not restart then Ireland would win under Duckworth-Lewis.
  2. I say it would be difficult to write off any of the top 8 teams. There are so many variables which can and would occur. But cricket is long and boring so I would not be watching much of it.
  3. I rarely use cheats while playing the game for the first time. I have used them on a couple of occasions where I find it next to impossible to advance. In one of these places I could not even advance with the aids of cheat. They can be a bit of fun after you beaten the story line.
  4. I never put collars onto any of my dogs mainly because of the reasons stated in this thread. Collars kill dogs it is that simple. I also heard of dogs drowning due to collars getting stuck on drift wood.
  5. I fail to see the need for a Music and Movies forum. Just extra clutter.
  6. I hate people who drive at 80km a hour when the speed limit is 100km. Such people never pull over to let others past and on passing lanes or other suitable passing areas they generally speed up to around 100-105km/hr but that speed increase only last until it is dangerous to overtake then they would be back down to 80. Was stuck behind atleast 5 idiots driving like that today.
  7. If you said that Proxima Centauri is the closest star to earth you would be wrong. The sun is the closest star. If the Question was 'What is the cloest star to our Sun' then the correct answer would be Proxima Centauri at only 4.22 light years away. Answering Alpha Centauri would be wrong. For the reasons I outlined in my previous post. Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B are relatively near to each other but I beleive Alpha Centauri A is slighlty closer currently. In about 10,000 years the closest star to earth would then be Barnard's Star which is currently the 4th nearest.
  8. Alpha Centauri is not the closet star to earth, the Sun is the closes. Alpha Centauri is a star system made up of three stars so it is not even a Star. The stars in the system are called Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B and the third star is called Proxima Centauri. Out of the three stars the closest to our sun is Proxima Centauri. So answering Alpha centauri is wrong.
  9. The Statue of Liberty is also french made, so it should not be on your list.
  10. I want to know who is organising this 'vote for new wonders' and why they are doing it? The obvious answer to why would be to separate fools from their money and to promote Portugal. edit: Wikipedia has quite a bit of info about them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Seven_ ... _the_World
  11. I did the test again, but this time I was a complete hippy. I traveled everywhere on foot, use no eletricity, only eat locally grown herbs and beans ect.... Had 7+ fellow hippies living in my small environmentally friendly hippy house. This was the result My foot print was 0.6, and if everyone lived like a complete hippy we would need 1 planet. So pretty much according to this test if we want to be able to live on 1 planet we would have to go back to the pre-industrial age and do not use any technology. The funny thing is, that back then famines ect were relatively common and the population was significantly lower and the average age was less.
  12. Done one of these things once before, it was so bad. You could tell that it was made by hard-core socialists with a agenda. Much better then the first one I did. But still stupid and a waste of time. I need 6.9 global hectares. If everyone was like me we would need 3.8 planets.
  13. I have heard that it is much more like Total Annihilation then red Alert. If I ever upgrade my computer I would probably buy a copy.
  14. What annoys me is that half of them return after a couple of weeks then they make another post annoucein their reutrn. No one really cares when they leave and even less care when they return. But I agree we do not need a sticky.
  15. A bit of both really. Due to work i get up at 6:30am (5am real time but +1.5 hours of day light saving). But I am always very tired and sleepy for the first 20 minutes or so in the mornings. By 7 I am quite good and ready for the day. I always try to sleep in a bit more. On the weekends when I sleep in until around 8:30am I wake up and still feel bad for the next 2-3 hours. So the extra sleep does not help much. I get quite sleepy around 9pm at night but around 10pm I get a second boost of energy which allows me to quite easily stay up to around mid-night. But I generally force myself into bed before 11pm. When I was at university I typically stayed up to 2-3am in the morning quite easily and would wake up at around 10am when classes allow. I do love night time but nothing bets the early morning. Everything is so fresh and peaceful.
  16. I would be happy to see a 0kb size limit for signatures. They are not really needed and are a waste of bandwidth in my opinion. Avatars do a good enough job to help visually recognise another user.
  17. There was one update which made the game significantly easier and probably had the largest impact on how players played runescape. That one update was Item Bank. Back when it was released I liked the idea of being able to store my valuable items and to stock spare items for a later date. But people quickly learned that item banks was a excellent way to stock pile items. It was quick and efficient and hence made power power leveling possible to many more skills. Once upon a time you had to visit a wide range of places on a regular basis to be able to make certain items, back before Item banks much more of the game content had uses. Now only the closes fast spawning spot to banks get frequent use. If something is to far from the bank people rarely visit. Back then to train combat a player would have to first go to a shop and purchase a rod/spear and go fishing, then they had to catch and cook that fish. If they wanted other items they would have to collect them each time, or purchase them from another player who recognise a demand in the market. The game was much more variable and slower to play back then. There was a lot less repeition, much less power training. Today when a player wants to train combat and need certain items they would get it from their bank where they have stored massive stock piles of each. I really think the banking system needs a major update. I would love to see each bank made independent of each other. If you deposit a item in the Varrock bank you can only withdrawal that item from Varrock. Would certainly help give a point to much more of the game. That is never going to happen because it would annoy to many players. Part of me would like to see money only banks be re-introduced. Maybe with a 'chest' in POH or other safe spots which could hold a few dozen items (not piles). I also do not like the number of pages the bank now offer.
  18. I have not played RS for a while so not 100% up to date with all of the new weapons. But a weapon/amour designed especially to counter the whip. Such a weapon would be good to use against whip users but only 'average' against other opponents.
  19. This site there does a good job at summarising them. http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/Power_Supply_Unit In general I would go for a 'good' brand PSU of around 500w. Examples of good brands include SilverStone, OCZ, Antec, Seasonic and Enermax. With a bit of research you should be able to get one for less then $130 aud. You can use this site to find low prices, http://au.pricespy.biz/cat_7.html
  20. True. I hate that greatly. If only their was a way to stop that from occuring.
  21. Your computer is easily capable of running Opera and there is no reason for it to be overheating. I tried a google search and did not find a few similar problems but no real answers. I am thinking that for some reason the computer keeps on wanting to access the hard-drive which is causing the whirling sound. I can really only suggest two things. 1) Install Opera 9.1 , there has been a few changes made which might help. 2) Ask this question on the Opera forum. Someone there might be able to help http://my.opera.com/community/forums/
  22. Anything could be considered a right or privilege depending on the context. In many ways the two terms are interchangeable. If someone is allowed to do something then it is a right of these even if it is a privilege.... It is just playing around with English distinguishing between the two. The bandwidth I use to view the advertisement is a direct charge upon myself. So saying at No charge is technically incorrect. It is also possible to donate money to the running of tip.it which is another revenue source which is not advertisement. There are also other 'useless' privileges/rights which remain. Such as the the hosting of Avatars which from my understanding are hosted locally. They add nothing to the information and discussions taking place which is the core roll of a forum. The only purpose they serve is a graphical representation of the user. Unlike avatars polls give across the user views on a issue. They are not perfect and do have their negatives but they can be a quick and informative way to summaries the populations view on a argument or issue. So exchange the privilege of avatars for the privilege of polls. :D
  23. I agree fully with bop_dravian. There is nothing more annoying then when a user edits a title and change it to something meaningless like 'Answered' or 'Close please'... Like already mentioned it makes it that much harder for someone to locate if and when they are searching for a topic. I would also add that often there is more then one correct answer or sometimes the answer can be expanded or simply backed up by other users.
  24. That's the truth. Most of them are like "If there was a nuclear bomb and you had a saw and noticed a tree, would you cut it down if you needed wood?" I think the rule is great. These are great topics... can really get you thinking on what you would do in such a situation.
  25. Out of curiosity how does the amount of users compare between then and now? I can't possibly imagine that there aren't more people posting now. According to web-archives. Jul 13, 2003 scapeboard had 72703 users* Dec 02 2003 Scapeboard had 49436 users. April 1 2004 Scapeboard had 59647 users who posted a total of 1211421 articles. (*The july 13 figure was recordred Apri 07 2007  ) What these numbers do not show is how many and how often accounts were deleted or how active the users were. I suspect the forums are currently 30-40% more active currently with regards to users being online. The users of the 'Pking Section' on scapeboard had reached the pinnacle of immaturity. I do not believe there is much of a difference between the two boards with regards to maturity levels.
