  1. I have a Sony Ericsson K300 (or something). It is quite a nice phone but the keypad is badly designed (hard to press the buttons down). I find it very hard to use when not inside a protective case. In all I would not buy another one, quite a few gimmicks. It has also been slowly dieing over the last few months since I dropped it in a river.
  2. That is when the post should be locked, and the author get sent a pm saying something like... "I am willing to unlock your thread if you write a decent title/description for it and PM it to me so I can edit it in and unlock your thread."
  3. For quite same time I have felt there are way too many stickies on these boards. So how about removing maybe 80% of them, preferably all of them with the exception of forum rules which need to stand out. The point of a sticky is to make a topic stand out, but when a subject is hidden among 10 others they all simply blend into a single mass. I do not know about other users but I personally ignore stickies (Because they rarely change) and often fail to see (sometimes important) topics for several weeks because it is a sticky. Another disadvantage of stickies is when a widely discussed topic is condensed into a single thread. When that happens it normally kills of a good proportion of the conversation. A good example would be the "Trivial youtube/google video links to be posted here" sticky in off topic. Before that sticky was made each of the videos had their own thread and people discussed and talked about each one (they are all different topics). After the sticky people just post links and they rarely gain a comment because a single thread can not support such a diverse range of subjects. Such stickies are not just pointless but they caused a reduction in the amount of communication occurring. Another problem with creating a sticky for such topics is the fact that they often become redundant. On forums topics and subjects often occur in surges, their would be alot of threads/posts around a subject for a few weeks or maybe a month then it would die down until being brought back to life after a few months/years have passed. A sticky in this case just causes the topic to ooze along constantly mainly with contributions from a few dedicated members.
  4. I also strongly disagree with allowing users to lock their own posts. In my view the thread starter has no more rights over the content of a thread then any other user who decides to post or read it. If they disagree with the direction the thread is heading they should simply stop reading it. Back when I was a moderator users would often ask me to lock one of their threads, often just because they were 'losing a debate' or it has gone slightly off topic, or their initial question has been answered. I normally replied with a no and would not lock it. Mainly because active discussion was still being done and the thread was not out of hand. (They would then PM another mod who would then lock it -.- ) . I simply feel threads would get locked for unjustifiable reason.
  5. I have just been outside and seen comet mcnaught. It is simply amazing, lighting up a large path through the night size. I am going to drive to a better viewing spot over the next few nights. Here are a few photos and more information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_McNaught The best viewing would probably be from New Zealand, Southern Australia, South Africa and the tip of South America. It is worth the effort.
  6. I just remembered another game. Cannon Fodder The point of the game was to control a group of Soldiers to complete missions. The longer you keep a soldier alive the higher his rank and stronger he becomes. A high rank solder is very useful for same missions but if the die they are gone and you have to start with a weak private in a hard level. Got a good way into it but had dozens of levels so got bored probably.
  7. The thread ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅYour first game you beatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  8. Thinking that far back is quite difficult. But the first game I beat was probably Wolfenstein 3D. I played this game dozens of times, found all of the hidden treasure and secret passageways. Was a great game.
  9. Although the Medal of Honor is prestigious I do not consider it is universal enough to be the most prestigious. The reason being it is only awarded to people in or serving the united states military. There are many other militaries who service people do equally heroic deeds. The same would apply to the similar awards of other countries such as the Mannerheim Cross, Medal of Valor, Victoria Cross or the Virtuti Militari. Most countries have a similar award to the ones mention above. To rate one above the others in term of being prestigious is wrong in my opinion, they are all equally worth of praise. Unless corrupt leadership award them to themselves or their cronies then in that case they are worthless. In my opinion the most prestigious award is any top military honor to recognize extraordinary bravery and courage often at the risk of their own life in the presence of the enemy.
  10. If someone is prepared to pay that amount a year then I would say yes they are doing a job worth that amount of money. It is others who have decided to pay it, and they would not have decided to pay that amount if they believed he was not worth it.
  11. I am quite surprised with the number of people who frequently clean their ears. I have not done it for at least 5 years if not longer. It is just something I have never done and my ears are fine. There is no build up of wax or anything. Did it a few times when I was a kid but not frequently.

    Immortality

Eventually it could result in eternal torment a life floating around in nothingness, but by then hopefully I would of gone completely insane so it would not matter. So yes I would accept Immortality. There is so much time, so many places to see and experiences to enjoy. I would grow bored given time but I feel it is more worthwhile to spend eternity living then a eternity dead.
  13. Nope not kidding. The storm would just blow right past :) Not even a 15 year storm would be much of a problem for where I live. I hope I would get a few decent floods out of it :D Would be good for the local streams. Maybe it would rain enough to allow trout to survive in my creek again.
  14. One interesting one I discovered recently is the word ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅpaddockÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  15. I would just stay at home and do nothing. I know I would be totally safe because the place where I live has a strange ability to be missed by any serious/cool weather events. I suppose we might get heavy rains and winds out of these storms but the worst and coolest of it would just head out to sea.
  16. I choose to read a topic because of the title, I generally take little notice of the author. The main reason being that even a badly written first post can be turned into a decent discussion by other users. One thing which does annoy me is when people post on a topic but only bother reading the first post and the conversation has moved on greatly since then.
  17. Many of the cities around here had their coldest December since records began. Also had quite a bit of rain, not enough to keep the creeks flowing but the grass growth is great for this time of year. Should be a brown grass desert here at the moment but there is still patches of green everywhere.
  18. I have not played it at all, I loved civ II but have now gone over to the Europa universalis series. I like the micro-management which it offers. My brother is addicted to Civ IV, he has been reprogramming its AI as a hobby.
  19. Played FFX-2? Never heard of FFX-2
  20. The expense of game development depends on the platform the game is being made for. The production cost for a game on something like the GBA, or cellphones would be fraction compared with the fancy class leading computer and console games. It would probably be possible to make a good game, for next to nothing while working at home. It would not be a graphics feast, but it could have great game play which is fun and highly addicting. All that is required would be to find a niche and develop a power base. A good example, although quite old now would be Stars!

In Persian mythology Angra Mainyu was the god of darkness, death and destruction, the enemy of Ahura Mazda.: Daragh Darja drog ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅghostÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  22. If I were to purchase a dSLR it would probably be the pentax K100D or the K10D. The only thing the pentax is lacking is a decent telescopic zoom lens , but they have a few very lovely pancake lenses. . Getting a good Pentax kit would be quite a bit cheaper then the equivalent canon offering. Although, Canon does offer a much greater range of lenses and accessories. They also have a slight edge at higher ISO but that has closed greatly with the current generation of dSLR. Because a dSLR is not on my shortlist of things to buy. I have not priced out the options recently.
  23. What does that have to do with each other? sanitation and medicines are equaly, if not more so, unnatural Name one animal which does not clean itself? Sanitation is entirely natural. Also, animals seek out certain foods which they do not normally eat. Hence, animals seek out food for their healing properties. A example would be a dog eating grass when it is feeling sick. So both medicines and sanitation are both natural.
  24. ummm, I think you got your terms confused up. I suspect you want your shutter speed to be more then 100th of a second.. Being a dSLR camera you have complete control over the shutter-speed. It would be in your manual, give the section on shutter speed a read. I suggest, put your camera into manual mode. There you would have complete control over both your shutter-speed and Aperture. With night shots, you probably want to maximize the amount of light you allow in. So it would probably be best to open the aperture right up, the amount this can be done would depend on the lens being used. Also you could increase the ISO, this would make the camera sensor more sensitive to light, I probably would not go past ISO of 800 because much more then that noticeable lost of image detail occur. Now. I would adjust the shutter speed until you get the amount of 'streaks' desired. If everything is to bright, go back and decrease the ISO or/and increase Aperture until you are happy. I almost brought a dSLR myself, but decided against it. Mainly because the cost of getting decent lenses which would not cripple the camera body is substantial. It is quite amazing how often you see people using a expensive camera body and put rubbish cheap glass on it. Back in the day of film, it was not uncommon to see people using a camera which costs several thousand dollars, and a equally impressive lens but then put the cheapest film they could buy from the supermarket into it.
