  1. Many recognisable names in there :D Amazing that some of them are still around today, but unfortunate that others have moved on :(
  2. If you keep your software up to date (eg. make sure windows and internet explorer are up to date by visiting http://www.opera.com etc.) If you keep all that up to date, then if you just visit the pages on tip.it, you ought to be safe. However, as soon as you go clicking links to other sites, you're exposing yourself to other dangers. To browse the web safely these days you really must use a firewall. If you don't have one, I think there's a sticky somewhere with links to some free ones, or you can just google. If you intent on downloading any files (which most people do) then you also ought to have an antivirus program. From past experience, if you're using Internet Explorer, I suggest you change browsers. Internet Explorer is made by Microsoft and they have an extremely poor track record of vulnerabilities, exploits and bugs. Personally, I use Mozilla Firefox - it's 100% free of course and blisteringly fast, but the key point here is security. Mozilla has a history of patching any vulnerabilities that are discovered within days, sometimes hours. Microsoft on the other hand often takes weeks, if not months. So erm to sum up, if you keep your software up to date, then it's very unlikely that you'll get viruses/other harmful stuff, so paranoia is not necessary. Caution and commonsense are your allies.
  3. Invite sent. Additionally, I suggest you don't have your email publicly viewable - lots of robots collect them and spam you.
  4. Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/remove Windows Components. Check "Accessories and Utilities"
  5. At the bottom of the gmail page, click the "standard without chat" view ;)
  6. Close all open Firefox windows, including the download manager, whatever. Then go Start -> Run. Type "firefox[Caution: Executable File] -p" (without quotes.) Select the profile you wish to use. If the "profile is already in use" alert comes up in future, click cancel or close it or something, then press ctrl+alt+del and click the processes tab. End task on all instances of firefox[Caution: Executable File], then try again. Oh and by the way, they're called bookmarks ;) Note that this advice assumes you're using Windows XP. Edit: I forgot to go around the censor.
  7. Do you fiddle with the cord in your fingers? Especially around the area where the two cords from each each intersect and become one cord? An extremely large number of headphone breakages are due to cord damage, not damage to the actual headphones themselves. Other vulnerable areas are the bits where the cord meets the headphones themselves, and the bit where the cord meets the plug that goes into the headphone jack on tyour mp3 player/pc/whatever. These can be damaged easily if the headphones are yanked or pulled. If you're serious about your music and your headphones, get some with a detachable cord. That way you can simply replace the cord if there's a problem with it. A new cord is less than $10 whereas depending on how serious you are, new headphones can be upwards of $100, $200, and higher. I personally use Sennheiser HD 212 PROs.
  8. Command, shift, 3? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html ... mh925.html
  9. Please read the whole topic. Find your nearest capital city. T'would be good if the TET would just put one of those links in every event they make.
  10. I thought this topic was going to be some topic about George Bush lol
  11. Editwars? Or just an article of exceptional quality? Unitedite: I'm afraid that just isn't true. Wikipedia is proof that god exists.

    Boy scouts?

That's in regular scouts here in SA, and yeah I didn't get that. I got the red and blue (pioneer and exporer?) chords but never got around to completing the green one. The main stumbling block was the full pack hike IIRC, but of course I've done a number of fullpack hikes since then.

    Boy scouts?

Did you at least get your venturer chord :P I did bugger all work in venturers, but I at least got that :) Standardisation, what's that? There's no such thing as a Ventuer Chord in SA.
  15. No, you really don't want to be doing that mate, trust me.
  16. Tracking cookies generally appear after you visit sites with ads on them - eg. tip.it. It's no big deal, usually they just tell the ad company how many times you load the page and what ads you've seen, or whatever. I don't bother worrying about them. If you're really concerned about them, block the sites from setting cookies in your browser.
  17. They don't make stuff like they used to :(
  18. You want to tell the British people that it's 8pm their time, many people (eg. you) don't know the difference between GMT and British time (GMT never changes.) Also, for those of us that live in the rest of the world, you can see what time it'll be in your location by clicking here.
  19. You've got something wrong with your times. 8pm GMT is 3pm USA EST. Did you perhaps mean 7pm GMT, which is 8pm BST (British Summer Time) :?:
  20. More detail my friend :!: I'd suggest your friend get a forum account so we can discuss it here. My initial suggestion would be to install updated sound drivers - these can be downloaded from the sound card manufacturer's website. If your friend does not know who the manufacturer of the sound card is, then you can use the device manager to find out: If your friend is using Windows 2000 or XP, then Start -> Run and type "devmgmt.msc" (no quotes.) Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers. If your friend is using an older version of windows, try Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager. You should also ensure that the microphone is muted. Start -> Run -> "sndvol32" (no quotes.) If that doesn't solve the problem, then we'll need more info. What specifically is meant by "mixed up." Describe the symptoms that are experienced in Windows media player and iTunes, and how they differ. Describe the media that we're trying to play (video? audio? filetype - mp3, wav, mpg, avi, etc.) Good luck :)

    Boy scouts?

In Australia we have: Joey Scouts (aged 6-7.5) Cub Scouts (aged 7.5 - 10.5) Scouts (aged 10.5 - 14.5) Venturer Scouts (aged 14.5 - 17) Rover Scouts (aged 18 - 26) I joined in cubs and have gone through scouts and venturers. I just recently joined Rovers. Yes there were girls in my scout troop and venturer unit, and there are in my rover crew too. I reckon it's a great idea :D I don't do much badgework n whatnot, but I love adventurous activities (hiking, caving, mountain biking, sailing, rock climbing, abseiling, etc.) and the social side of it :) I do a bit of community service from time to time.
  22. IE7 doesn't work on Macs, fool! Windows is not the only OS in existance.
  23. Runescape customer support my friend.
  24. The tip.it/runescape website does use php for many things. eg in the URL http://tip.it/runescape/?page=treasure_trails.htm the bit after the ? basically means "load the standard site tempate and then put the treasure_trails.htm file inside the middle of it." Other things which use php include the treasure trails locator. Also these forums are run with phpbb, which uses php. So basically, yeah, php is wonderful stuff.
