  1. It's already quite near enough to the top. I'm guessing it could be that Java's configuration is trying to cache it somewhere that doesn't exist or that you don't have access to. On a network drive or something perhaps. Dunno. Can you open any other java stuff?
  2. Internet Relay Chat. Tip.it has a chatroom as we can all hang out together :) If you don't want to download anything, try this link for a java based thing.
  3. For those of you who use the tip.it irc channel, it appears to be down so if you can't connect, you're not the only one so don't worry :) The Chat-addict status page shows that everything should be working. Connecting to chat-addict.cjb.net doesn't work either, which usually means it's not a dns issue. Edit: Next morning, it appears to be back up and working :)
  4. What OS are you using? What version? What version of Firefox? What version of adblock? Are you using wildcards (eg. *.tribalfusion.com/* *burstnet.com/* etc. ) I implore you not to block all tip.it ads. Tip.it relies on advertising revenue to survive. If the ads don't get seen and people don't click on them, are you willing to pay several hundred dollars a month for the server and hosting? (That's just a guess on the cost btw.) I suggest using Firefox's inbuilt popup blocker to block popups and Flashblock to block intrusive flash ads, but leaving regular ads alone. Of course you could always donate, and then you'd have a clear conscience blocking ads.
  5. http://forum.tip.it/profile.php?mode=editprofile Set "Always show my e-mail address:" to "No" These emails are not from Tip.it, they are from robots which crawl these forums looking for silly people like you who have their emails publicly viewable.
  6. S'just because RS is designed for IE on Windows. I guess yuo could try installing IE and Java into a windows emulation thing, but that'd just be a pain. So yeah, sorry. Suggest you contact Jagex and complain to them about it, and then hopefully they'll make their sounds work on all browsers and operatign systems.
  7. Does the book belong to you, or is it an exercise book that the school gave you? If you bought the book from a shop yourself, then it's your property and an invasion of your privacy if your teacher reads it. If, however, the book belongs to the school, I don't think you have any rights at all :-?
  8. Cult Noun [*:3279xkyo]A group or doctrine with religious, philosophical or cultural identity sometimes viewed as a sect, often existent on the margins of society. [*:3279xkyo]Devotion to a saint [*:3279xkyo]A group that exploits members psychologically and/or financially, typically by making members comply with leadership's demands through certain types of psychological manipulation, popularly called mind control, and through the inculcation of deep-seated anxious dependency on the group and its leaders. Adjective [*:3279xkyo]Enjoyed by a small, loyal group [*:3279xkyo]That has garnered limited sales figures, but a loyal fanbase and raving reviews in the press. The Lord of the Rings is a classic geek cult novel. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cult
  9. Different sites use different plugins to play videos - give us an example of a site where you have this problem?
  10. There's nothing wrong with cookies in 99% of cases. Cookies are useful (aswell as being delicious.) What are the 3 cookies that you're worried about called?
  11. While Photoshop is an excellent program for manipulating and editing images, I don't believe it has the functionality to create animated gifs. I think Adobe has some other products that can do that (Imageready?)
  12. Except that would be Very Bad because tip.it relies on advertising revenue to survive, remember? How would the advertising company know anyway? So in other words just keep it a small secret. They record how many times the ads are loaded and how many times they're clicked on. The higher these numbers, the more Tip.it gets paid.
  13. Except that would be Very Bad because tip.it relies on advertising revenue to survive, remember?
  14. I think he's probably talking about the fact that FF 1.5 is known not to run too well on Mac, while there are several custom builds that run better (FF 1.5.0.1 also has a bunch of fixes for Mac). (here 'well' and 'better' concern speed only, and some people report no trouble at all)*shrug* Could always try Camino for fun.
  15. Well Tip.it contains no links to download 3rd party Runescape clients or other dodgy stuff, and the staff on the forums are constantly watching for dodgy people posting links to bad sites. Occasionally in the past we've had some problems with the ads on the site, but not any more as far as I know :) So to sum up, of course Tip.it is safe :D
  16. Yeah that's in general pretty true. Firefox is only the size of a standard mp3 though and installation and uninstall is easy as :) Oh and I think Mementh is referring to the Firefox extension - Fasterfox :)
  17. My thoughts too. :P Posts by merc in runescape sections here just look weird to me. rofl am i like unofficially banned from posting outside off topic? ^_^Apart from on this topic, you've made six posts in RS general in the last year. I think our surprise is justified.
  18. Try hard refreshing your browser. On the left, the first box is Runescape, there's 3 links. Under that is the Knowledge Base section.
  19. I fear for merc's hairline. This is why people go bald!
  20. Where do you live? I know in Australia there's a free quitting helpline that you can ring for support.
  21. Cookies are what keeps you logged in to sites, and that help sites remember who you are. If you delete all your cookies, you have to type your username and password when you come back to these forums. I'd say try scanning with Adaware SE and Spybot S&D - they actually delete bad stuff for you.
  22. Try disabling Adblock alltogether. See if that fixes your problem. If not, try temporarily disabling Zonealarm. This should help us to isolate the problem.
  23. If you're using Safari then you're already using an awesome browser. Anything is a million times better than IE. Regarding Firefox, you've not got anything to lose, so just install it and try it out if you want. I've never used Safari so I don't know what I'm comparing to here, but some of Firefox's great features include the ability to skin/theme it and being able to extend it with a huge number of extensions - check your webmail automatically, get weather updates, make tabs behave differently, mouse gestures, and a million other things. Basically, if there's something you want your browser to do, the chances are that somebody has thought about it before and has written an extension for it. Want close buttons on every tab? Sure thing. Want your tab bar at the bottom of your screen instead of the top? No worries. I suggest you try Firefox. If you've got any questions about it, feel free to contact me or post back ehre :)
  24. Haha  Sometimes little things like this just crack me up
