  1. Yeah I was like.. "why on earth are they making another announcement?"
  2. What version of Norton are you using? Sounds very wierd :-?
  3. Why specifically? I always find it useful to understand why users don't want to use Firefox. If it's because Runescape doesn't work particularly well in it - it's quite easy for you to have Firefox running for web browsing and use Jagex's Windows client for playing Runescape - I know a number of people that do it :)
  4. I'd just like to point out that IMHO this belongs in Forum Discussions and Suggestions
  5. I think it's different if the person who posted in the wrong place or whatever is a newbie to the boards, and doesn't yet know the rules. Also, if you actually answer their question that kinda makes a difference.
  6. Did you change anything else about your pc when you upgraded to windows XP? ISP? Router? Wireless? Firewall? Moved your pc (physically?)
  7. Go into your norton Firewall preferences and under programs make sure that Mozilla Firefox is always allowed access. If you keep getting alerts, make sure you check the box that says "remember my choice" or whatever. As for why firefox is better than IE - here's a quote: But yeah, as you stated earlier, playing Runescape in Firefox isn't very good (see the sticky.) This is Jagex's fault and unfortunately you just have to use their windows client until they fix it :(
  8. Could be that whitness level thing? *googles* "Color Temperature" they call it. Look in your monitor or gfx card settings.
  9. Or camino.. Definatelty don't use IE 5 though, heh heh.
  10. Please don't pm me for topics such as this - other people can help just as well as I can.
  11. And guess what - 100% services cuts too! Nobody to defend you if someone declares war on you, no sewer, no running water, no electricity, no gas, no doctors, no education for your kids, no library, no roads. You then have to pay other people to do all those things for you, so basically you end up paying anyway.
  12. Theoretically it's possible to buy and island off the country that owns it, but the paperwork would probably be pretty huge to get it all done ;) They still have to adhere to the international decleration of human rights, and if they don't the UN will probably send them a letter or something, and about 10 years later the USA might decide that you're in their way for their shiping routes or maybe there's oil under your island or something and invade them. I think there was some guy who pegged out a bit of Australia and declared himself his own country, but I don't think anyone took him seriously, I can't remember what happened.
  13. Does it work in IE? What extensions do you use? Do you use adblock? If so, there's something about obj-tags or something in the adblock settings - toggle that setting. Try creating a new profile. Close all Firefox windows. Start -> Run -> "Firefox[Caution: ExecutableFile] -p" create new profile and see what happens. It won't have any of your existing bookmarks, extensions or settings, but you can get them back by switching back to your original profile.
  14. I'm still unclear at which point you get the cannot connect to server page. I think what you mean is that it loads the java client and you see the bowls of flames, you enter your username and pw but it doesn't log you in. If this is incorrect, please notify me. First of all, try selecting a different server. Try different countries/parts of the world. If that doesn't work, I suggest temporarily disabling your firewall and then trying to log in. If you can log in after that, it is a problem with your firewall, so tell us what firewall you use and we'll see what we can do. If you know how to configure your firewall, go into the list of programs that it allows to access the web and make sure it's allowing "Java" or "Sun java" to connect. If your firewall configures ports for every program, you need to open 43594 and 43595 (for TCP traffic, both Inbound and Outbound.) If it still doesn't work, try deleting the temporary runescape files in C:\WINDOWS\.file_store_32 If it still doesn't work, post back and I'll have to do some more thinking.
  15. Is that specifically logging into Runescape, or is it a problem accessing all websites? What version did you update to? Should be 1.5. At which point does it tell you it's unable to connect to the server? Is it a Firefox error message, or an error message on the Jagex site, or is it an error within the actual Java client? Have you tried creating a new profile and playing on that? Close all Firefox windows. Start -> Run -> "Firefox[Caution: ExecutableFile] -p" create new profile and see what happens. It won't have any of your existing bookmarks, extensions or settings, but you can get them back by switching back to your original profile.
  16. You need to have a sufficient magic level to be able to cast spells. For example, to teleport to varrock requires lvl 25 magic, and levelling up magic costs a considerable amount of money. Please read the tip.it guides before asking any more questions here. For magic (teleporting, high alchelmy etc.) see the magic guide. For information on amulets - see the crafting guide, and for pickaxe mining lvl requirements, see the mining guide.
  17. I believe smithing experience is always the same per bar of one type of metal. Eg. An iron dagger that requires 1 iron bar is 25 exp, a square shield that requires 2 bars is 50 exp, 3 bar stuff is 75 exp, etc. etc. You can find lots of information about smithing exp here and here ;)
  18. Please see the phpbb userguide. When you create a new topic, if you have the correct permissions, there'll be some options at the bottom of the new topic thing where you can choose to make it an announcement or a sticky. If you don't have the correct permissions (eg. regular users cannot make stickies and announcements here) then go to the admin control panel and edit the permissions so you can.
  19. -Peronix-, Kryptic isn't a mod ;) You could try asking the authors of RuneScript - Cruiser, Looce, Micksam7, spling, and Urza - about how they do it.
  20. Guess what? Runescape is just click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click.
  21. I actually experienced this myself not too long ago - so we'll see if my solution works for you. Go into Norton Internet Security (or whichever Firewall you have,) click "Personal Firewall" then "Configure". Then go to the "Programs" tab and find the entry called Microsoft Outlook (or maybe they named it MS Outlook or just Oulook or whatever.) Remove the entry. Restart your pc. Fire up Outlook and Norton will alert you that a new program is trying to access the internet, click "Automatically configure" (or "Allow connections on all ports" or whatever) and Norton should allow it through.
  22. All the pink just gives it away heh. Although you can actually deduce the first letter of the name anyway :) What tutorial? Back in those days you just logged in and had to fend for yourself. Just through word of mouth.
  23. At the beginning of rsc stackables weighed more the more you had, people carrying millions weighed heaps and couldn't run very far so they made it that all stackables weighed a set amount no matter how much of the stackable you actually had. Either 0 or 1 kg usually. There was no weight or running in RSC.
  24. On Runescape, no, since I never play. On tip.it, probably every day, but I only click the google ads, and I block popups.
  25. I got 5, so I guess that disproves your test eh
