  1. I know this has been said before (I'd hope), but Jagex never said they were going to mass ban bots with this update, but rather they were aiming to make bots non-functional. Personally, if bots remain non-functional, I can't be too upset with them not being banned at present. One step at a time and all that jazz.
  2. Has anyone checked to see what they're saying on the botting sites?
  3. I just want to know what World of Tanks is. First I've ever heard of that game.
  4. An interesting side-effect, if this update actually works, might be the change in the average price of RuneScape's common commodities, most of which were heavily botted which in turn kept their prices relatively low. When nature runes, amulets of fury, adamantite bars, herblore supplies and dragon bones start shooting through the roof again, I'm not convinced everyone will be so glad to see the back of them. This is before even touching on the wider issues surrounding RuneScape, other than botting. This. Honestly, and I may sound like a total dick for this, but I'd rather have bots around if it meant that I wouldn't have to pay 200M for turmoil instead of the 50M (with bots around keeping prices low). Anyway, I just put an offer in GE for 25,000 dragon bones. I hope this update falls flat on its ass so that the prices of the bones drops back down to a reasonable price. Why do you care? You're retired
  5. I used to think I was a pessimist, but over the years this board has become flooded with them. For as long as there is a profit to be made in Runescape, Jagex isn't going to abandon it. Killing off one profitable project for another-- especially when it comes to MMO's-- is stupid, because it's putting all your eggs in one basket. That's not how you run a company. You want to have multiple profitable games which capture different market segments. Jagex deciding to kill of Runescape should they create another game which eventually becomes more popular than Runescape would be akin to Blizzard decided to axe Diablo because WoW is much more popular.
  6. Why do you think I find this funny? And by Irony, I repeat yet again, it would be funny if LoL wins because they decided to announce the award like runescape did on previous years, while LoL didn't. I don't care where most voters come from, just pointing out how that would be funny if it happens. I know people are not voting for runescape, I didn't either, I voted for LoL actually. RuneScape won last 2 years because they advertised it while the rest of the games didn't, now we got LoL doing the same thing, with a bigger playerbase (that alone is enough to win the award as most people who play LoL and are now voting/voted already didn't even know of the award to start with), what do you think is going to happen? (add on top of that the people who play rs and are voting against it). See what I mean? Don't take so much credit on rs people voting against jagex as if it was crucial, runescape actual playerbase is very small compared to LoL. All they had to do is announce it so people get to know the award, to win it, and they did already, rs players voting againt rs are just the cherry on the top. What the...? Did you not read a damn thing I typed out? Runescape was not going to win this year PERIOD, and it not winning has little to do with LoL advertising people to vote for them. Runescape was not going to win because the Runescape playerbase as a whole wasn't going to vote for Runescape as the best free game and, indeed, had been voting against Runescape long before the LoL playerbase began voting for LoL. If you don't get any votes, you're not going to win. You're here trying to make it seem as if Runescape isn't going to win because RG mobilized their fanbase and ran some kind of voting campaign to "upset" Runescape or whatever. That has nothing to do with anything. Furthermore, you have very little proof that in a straight vote between Runescape and LoL's where both player bases are satisfied with their respective games that LoL's would win. Using stuff such as FB, Twitter and YT as an approximate guage of how each would do is faulty. I'd be willing to bet that if WoW was put into the category for best F2P game (since it is now up to a certain level) that it would win, even though LoL's has more followers on FB than does WoW (can't speak about the other two). I know that you and your buddy Pal are on some kind of anti-Runescape/anti-Jagex crusade, but really. Try harder.
  7. 1.) Taking my blue p-hat to Troll Plateau a few months after it came out. I lagged out near the thrower trolls and died. I was kind of mad then (yeah, stupid me), but I've even more mad now that I see how much they've skyrocketed. 2.) Refusing to trade a dragon square for a red p-hat and a red mask :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: 3.) Selling a yellow p-hat for about 6M. Edit: I also sold two santa's for 150K each.
  8. What irony? You act like the majority of people playing Runescape are voting for Jagex this year. Have you, like, not been reading this thread or the thread on the RSOF (if it's still there)? Granted, they're only a small sample size, but I'd be willing to bet that it's a pretty good gauge of public sentiment. LoL winning would be more about people being disastisfied with Jagex than LoL being that good. (Btw> I voted for LoL's, and haven't ever played that game.) The irony is that Riotgames decided to use jagex's move to get votes, and win using it. I'm not acting like people are voting for jagex, in fact, if you look at the comments on rs portal at golden joystick site you'll see most are negative comments xD. And LoL winning would be about their own community actually getting to know about the award. Also, this is the infamous message someone sent to riotgames. Source prefers to remain anonymous for obvious reasons. I don't think you know what irony is. RiotGames won't win "using Jagex's own tactics" against them, but will win simply because a large portion of the Runescape fanbase isn't voting for Runescape this year and is, in fact, voting for other games in protest. The Runescape fanbase has been talking about voting against Runescape in the GJA long before RiotGames started to advertise voting in the GJA to their playerbase (mid-August vs. early/mid-October). Do you really not understand this, or are you trying to become the new Pal? And, really, whoever send that message is an idiot. (S)he kind of misses the point of voting against Jagex.
  9. (Btw> I voted for LoL's, and haven't ever played that game.) Edit: Also, I'm a little late here, but I wouldn't be using followers on a social networking site to adequately gauge how popular a MMO is, for if we did, you'd have to agree that LoL is more popular than is WoW.
  10. A bit of hyperbole, don't you think? Not even. I made more at Nex in a week than I would at frosts in a month, with way less of a headache and competition. Let me try this again. It is hyperbole. I'm not currently a member and haven't tried out the new frosts, but let's just assume that you can only get 60 kills per hour now. Let's assume that the price of frost dragon bones also rise to ~17K. That's close to 1M gp/hour. For most people, that is quite possibly the fastest gp/hour they'd be getting unless, as someone else pointed out, you have maxed stats, overloads and a buttload of expensive gear to do Nex. Unless you've got a modest amount of luck, you'd probably make more money from frosts than Corp. At least, you'd make it more consistently barring an Ely/Divine drop. So what bosses does that leave which provide an equal or greater profit? Bandos, which is probably the easiest and fastest money make in GWD outside of Nex? I don't do Bandos, but I don't think you make ~1M per hour profit consistently there. DK's? Maybe. The KQ? Nope. The KBD? Nope. The CE? Nope. Revenants? Nope. I can't quite believe that they have been made so bad that there is no reason to kill them in favor of other monsters.
  11. Range sometime back in September of 2004.
  12. Ehhh, this almost makes me want to renew my membership. Almost. Bots will be back in a few weeks, though.
  13. Doesn't much of interest me, really. But that's okay. Rarely am I interested in BtS.
  14. Actually, fwiw, Jagex does read some of the things posted. Once in a while, depending on what you write, you can get a J-Mod to send you a PM (and not the "cease and desist or you'll be banned" ones). I've had it done before-- once.
  15. You don't need extremes, overloads or any OP melee gear. I did the whole thing using sharks, prayer pots, 2 range pots and a crystal bow.
  16. I got interested, so I Runetracked it, just to make sure my memory hadn't failed me. And it hadn't. The only reason my xp per hour is as high as it is is because of the past year and a halfish. Otherwise, I'm positive it'd probably be the lowest of anyone here. I'm so inefficient in-game :(
  17. I find that rather shocking. I figured it would be far lower, like the 20K'ish region. But I actually think that the reason it's not is because I've actually been skilling the past year and a half'ish (really, ever since dung came out). I've had to gain over 100M experience in that time, which is about 1/3rd of my total experience.
  18. Hands down the best run I've done considering I only killed 35'ish. And effigies were B2B.
  19. Not if those goodies are worth less than the cost of a ticket. People who are angry at Jagex aren't going to buy tickets for Runefest. Did you buy one?
  20. I lol'ed. At least he has a good attitude about the whole thing. I know it's just a game, but if that was me, I'd be raging.
  21. Highly doubtful. If Jagex wanted more people to show up, they'd just offer some free goodies. I can't see anyone showing up to Runefest just to get an "inside scoop" on bots.
