  1. "RuneScape is currently unavailable for the majority of players and anybody who manages to log in will not have an ideal experience. We are aware of this and have our sysadmin team, engine team and our core hosting providers looking into this issue. Our news module is hosted in the same place as everything else and is also having problems. This is why there are no updates via RuneScape.com once you see newsposts there then the problem should be over. At this time we have no comment on if there will be a rollback or membership refunds. Please bear with us and if you have any questions we are trying to answer as much as possible via our official twitter and facebook accounts though please bear in mind the volume of questions we are getting is quite high at the minute. Thank you for your continued support. Mod Fetzki Head of RuneScape Content http://www.twitter.com/RuneScape" From the Tip.It home page ;)
  2. The site was pretty much the only thing online, they didn't have the ability to create a news post or anything which is why they didn't do it. It wasn't planned so no warning could go up.
  3. Actually, before there were two rare drop tables. The first one was the simple one, dropped by most creatures containing: Gems, Half Keys, Rune Javelins (5), Dragon Spear, Shield left Half. Then there was a second one, mainly on higher level monsters but not exclusively. This one I can never remember all the drops on but it was things such as: Dragonstone, 45 death runes, 56 Natures, 150 steel arrows, 100 silver ore, Rune Kite, Rune Spear, Rune Square, 45 Law runes, Dragon Med and probably some other things I've forgotten about. Now I'm not sure if the 2nd set of drops were actually a separate table like the first or just a bunch of drops grouped together and put on certain monsters. Greater Demons for example only drop the first set of items whereas Abyssal Demons drop both sets. I'm not entirely sure where the new drops fit into this either (not played enough since the update) but I believe it's the first set of drops where the new drops are and not the second set.
  4. WoW for example has 99% of the items are untradable, or one use only (once used can't be traded again) and thus have no worth once they've done that. So being able to get those items back has no huge effect on the economy as the only way to get rid of the items off an account is to remove them from the game. How is that fair to the innocent person who is very happy with their new item? How would they do it? What if it was for example a dragonfire shield and you wanted to take it away when they were fighting dragons? What if this player then sells it on before it's had a chance to be given back to the original owner at an updated price? Hence why it's not been done. So inconsistency in what Jagex should do what be fairer than a blanket statement of saying no, we don't do this? How does that work? You're almost underestimating the amount of work that needs to be put in to do this. First they need to check to be 100% sure that it's not just someone's friend who is "hacking" them to try and gain some advantage by doing so. Also the wealth in most cases would be spread very very quickly, so would be next to impossible to track down.
  5. RuneScape's economy is entirely different to other MMOs. Almost every single item in game has a value to it. If someone gets hacked and loses a party hat which is sold on the GE to an innocent player you can't then produce another party hat to give it back to the person that got hacked. If you suggest that every item is tracked down and "returned" so nothing is duplicated then that would take a lot of work to do, probably well over an hour per account. If you think Jagex have enough time to do that then you are entirely mistaken. No company could spend that long doing that with the number of players RuneScape has. I agree that if items are lost to a bug (and completely taken out of the game because of it) then I see no reason why it shouldn't be given back. But for hacking etc, nope.
  6. The time spent getting the spells is fine, it's just that the activity has about 1 minute of content that they expect us to do for 40 hours. With no random element to it and no change at all it gets boring *very* fast. This combined with the fact that it's not AFKable at all (having to pay constant attention means even watching TV isn't really doable) makes it not very fun at all and probably the most grindy thing in this game (even more so than fletching arrows for example, which is a simple repeatable task but doesn't require full attention span).
  7. No one said that one troll post is going to get you a ban, nor did anyone say that one or two troll posts is ok. I said that no one is going to get banned just for one troll post. If you think this "change" in policy is going to have an effect on you then maybe you should change your posting style. If you think your post could be taken as a troll post then don't post it. Simple really.
  8. That Spirit tree there looks really sad D: . All his friends got an upgrade but he's there, being his old self, smaller than everyone else D:.
  9. I played for ~40 minutes and had 12k points. So 20k seemed like a good estimate, 25k tops no more than that.
  10. Really? You mean Jagex wants us to GRIND it out for petty XP?!?!?! There's a shocker ... It's not even the XP. The most expensive spell costs 829k tokens. I think you could get maybe 20k tokens an hour (that number could be off, but it seems around that, maybe even less). Just seen that when you unlock a spell you don't lose the points, so it'll take ~40 hours to unlock all the spells, that not *too* bad then. That's not taking into account how many runes you'll need to get it. You'll get about 20k farming xp/hour, 8k crafting, 5k agility and about 5k construction so it's not even a whole lot of that either.
  11. This is going to take forever to actually get anything. Just over 5k points atm.
  12. Spiritualise food could be awesome, especially for things like Pack Yaks, depends how much longer it makes them last though.
  13. The out of wilderness death drop is mostly targeted at lower level players who do end up dying. By not losing certain items they are not as discouraged by the game and will continue playing longer, which can only be a good thing. Nothing will change for higher level players that I can see, except hopefully not losing certain untradable items on death (accumlator, excalibur etc.) no matter what which is annoying when dying due to a DC. A bit iffy on the Wilderness change but oh well, nothing you can do about that and hopefully the untradable "problem" here is addressed by Jagex and make it so you won't lose Chaotics etc. 100% of the time.
  14. We are not going to ban someone for posting a semi troll post once. We are only doing it to crack down on those who are obvious trolls, who contribute nothing to the community, who just post crap after crap. Not people who occasionally post a "troll" post every now and then and when it's appropriate (as appropriate as a troll post can be anyway).
  15. Finished the quest. While the quest was good and made me laugh quite a bit the controls on the different parts of the quest were terrible. The Seagull was hard to control, with pressing the button to get it to fly in that direction, wasn't very responsive but got used to it after a while. Barrelchest part was annoying too, being two squares wide made controlling it difficult, there were a number of times when trying to get through a door where I got stuck, tried to move to the side and just ended up walking backwards instead. On top of that it felt too slow which I guess is to be expect. The Zomboats was again unresponsive, clicking shoot didn't seem to work half the time and the movement speed of the boats annoyed me again. Click once to shoot, miss then the other boat you're chasing is too far ahead to catch so got to get lucky on cutting it off. They had good ideas, just the controls let them down an awful lot.
  16. If people really hate the game as much as they seem to then why do you continue posting on a fansite for the said game continually crapping on it when there's plenty of people here who enjoy playing the game. Criticism of Jagex and the game is perfectly fine, but posting just to say how bad the game is is pretty much trolling. It's strange how it always seems to be the same 5 or so who spam every thread with "Jagex is crap! RuneScape sucks!" and post nothing but that. I'm tired of it and know that I'm not the only one.
  17. Then stop posting on a RuneScape fansite and take your crap posts elsewhere. I don't think I've seen anything but you complaining about Jagex for the last few months at least.
  18. 1 week = 7 days every month except february has more than 4x7 (28) days, so technically it always has 4 weeks and some overlefts (2 or 3 days, the second one being close to a half of a week) the first week of april has 3 days the second, third and forth weeks have 7 days the fifth week of april has 6 days Even if Jagex almost always doesn't update on the end of the weeks it's still a week :? When we talk about weeks in relation to RuneScape we talk about weeks where Jagex are likely to update. April has 4 of those weeks. Hence why I said "weeks" in my post.
  19. Not that it matters but I'm pretty sure that every month except february has 5 weeks ... (well more like 4.5) April has 4 "weeks" for example, so that's wrong. (1st is a Friday but doesn't really count as Jagex almost never update on a Friday). With the way Jagex update most months end up having 4 "weeks" due to overlaps :P.
  20. The lack of teaser this week probably indicates that there'll be no update this week. First week in a while iirc where there'll have been no update.
  21. I have always opposed this policy and will continue to do so. I was just as upset--if not more-- when it happened to the guy who lost his bank to the MA glitch, and I am similarly upset that this happened to a somewhat dubious character like Chessy018. I am of the opinion, that Jagex should refund items for *all* players whenever and wherever it can be proven some unintended mishap of this nature has occurred--and whenever and whereever it is viable/feasible to do so. Quite a few other companies do this, I hardly see why Jagex should be any different--especially considering this is relatively painless and inexpensive. I think if people have invested time and effort and emotion, and have subsequently suffered egregiously as in such cases, Jagex should honor that emotional investment and attachment--it seems the humane(I am aware of the irony of this term) thing to do. Now one could make the argument that isn't fair for Jagex to implement this policy change only in response to the misfortunes of an affluent and wealthy player--but I really don't see that as too much of a problem. Yes, it is somewhat unfair, but that is life for you, changes often come from the behests of elites--not from the plight of the helpless. I think the RS community should seize this opportunity to petition Jagex to implement the aforementioned policy change. It is in the best interests of everyone. RuneScape is a very economy based game, much much more so than something like WoW. In RuneScape you "need" money and items of significant worth to level your skills and do well within the game. For this reason bringing extra items into the game in anyway could have a significant impact on the game. Then that is increased ten fold when you're talking about discontinued items. If you hack someone, they have 10 party hats then you sell them on the GE to some random people. You then can't take those hats away from the people who bought them and giving 10 new hats back to the person who hacked just isn't feasible and would have a major impact on the amount of rares. You'd have a lot of people faking being hacked to try and get their items back while also having their friends benefit. Really, it's just not right for them to do and would have too big of an impact on the game. Although in this case, as the rares can be located it could be possible to get the items off the locked accounts and give them back to Chessy. If the items are completely taken out of the game (like in this case they would be unless Chessy gets them back) then they should be given back, although for a lot of things it's hard to prove that the items are lost (through glitches etc.).
  22. I used the broom to teleport away and banked at Shantay when I did it, didn't seem too much slower than the eagle method and has the benefits of not needing a familiar or rings/glories etc. Probably not the absolute best method but I found it was a lot less messing around with regards to having to get a rope, use it on eagles etc.
  23. I started playing again a few weeks ago as a friend started playing again and wanted to run dungeons with him (We had lots of fun doing that in Lich King while talking on Skype at the same time :P). Started a new job too and a couple of people there play it and started talking about it which got me interested in it again (one of them actually used to work for Blizzard). Not really done a lot as I really don't feel like raiding tbh, just enjoying doing a couple of dungeons, levelling professions and will probably try and get another 85 when I can find the time/motivation to do so. Really looking forward to 4.1 too, so hopefully that comes out soon.
  24. Saving the until I can do them myself (so far have completed exactly one all by myself :P). Getting there, am able to get 91 in all but two of them now (Smithing/Mining and Crafting/Agility).
