  1. Sure. A Rune Scimitar with two extra strength, or maybe four, is going to unbalance the game. I really see the logic there. I think this is an excellent idea. Of course, you would need to be able to see the statistics in a trade screen... however, considering this idea is a tad bit complicated, I really don't think JAGeX would do it. I would also like to add that this idea of same weapons with variable stats is used widely in other MMORPGs. It does add a bit of spice, especially (in my opinion) to trading. Not saying Runescape should copy everyone else, but...
  2. Typing courses are just plain useless. MMOs are the way to go. You learn without even trying. But seriously. I stand by my point: playing Runescape is a very poor way to educate yourself. I mean, you would only use typing skills when you are using a computer, and it can hardly apply to real life. If your work involves typing, then most likely you could type pretty fast just after a month of work. So no, Runescape is not educational, any educational value it holds is minimal and negligible.
  3. Funny. Not long ago I saw a low level male character ask a female player moderator to be his girlfriend, and the player mod said yes. And they walked away together. =S
  4. Battle Axes, Scimitars, Long Swords (to some extent) and Two Handed Swords are all commonly used in F2P worlds. Daggers and Short Swords I think are fine, they were never meant to be good weapons anyway. Maces are a bit weak, but they do have a prayer bonus and again, they were never meant to be overly strong. What I mainly think is too weak in F2P is War Hammers. That thing is almost useless, a Battle Axe can do everything a War Hammer can do.
  5. I do believe adding bank space will burden JAGeX's computers/servers, and there are a lot of F2Pers... adding bank space, even a bit, to F2P would be a huge thing for JAGeX to swallow. Same reason why they are reluctant to add more rooms to houses, its too much of a burden. And besides, they get nothing in return for doing it for F2P.
  6. Other than the leetspeak, that's all I hear in the common room at college... I still maintain that whilst RuneScape isn't educational per say, you can learn things during your time playing. I was an awful typist when I started, i'm pretty damn fast now. But at least you learn proper pronunciation, if you want to learn the language. And I have to agree with you there on the typing part: playing MMORPGs have increased my typing speed by a lot.
  7. What a nice and peaceful discussion. Come, let us all agree and live happily ever after.
  8. People seems to think that the world is meant to be all fair and square where "All men are created equal". Guess what? In a worldly perspective, it's not. And never was it meant to be. Personally, I think if people just clean their banks a bit, they can fit everything in okay. And even if you could not, well, too bad. Who said the world was fair? Rich guys get richer and poor guys get poorer. Live with it, or die - that is the only way out if you are so desperate to escape reality.
  9. Even then, all you learn in the linguistic department are swear words, 1337speech and slang. Anything adaptable for use in real life would be woefully misspelled. And let me ask you something: is it possible to learn pronunciation in Runescape? That is one of the most important parts of language. To be able to speak it. I don't think so.
  10. Aether is simply "Void". Since when is it associated with lightning? Lightning had always been associated with fire in the past, it was never considered a separate element. And the other guy mentioned metal and grass because the Chinese have five elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, and Metal. Fire spawns Earth, Earth spawns Metal, Metal spawns Water, Water spawns Wood, Wood spawns Fire. Water counters Fire, Fire counters Metal, Metal counters Wood, Wood counters Earth, and Earth counters Water. Oh, and by the way peoples, these are NOT true elements. The true elements can be found listed on the Periodic Table. Just some clarification for people who were taking notes for their Chemistry assignment.
  11. I laugh at people who try to dictate boundaries on completely imaginary things. Seriously, these people kill imagination, as well has having medicore common sense at best.
  12. You're right, I'm sure he did not get it. Neither did I. By the way, I found a dead grammar on the street. Is it yours?
  13. Lightning is NOT superheated air. You are thinking of plasma, which is different. Plasma is a component of what causes lightning, but it isn't lightning. And the Magic of Runescape is based on four of the five Western Elements: Air, Water, Earth, Fire, and Ether (which isn't in Runescape). Lightning was not considered an Element then. Although I would not object to adding Lightning Spells to Runescape. They could be based on Chaos and Fire Runes or something...
  14. I can see it now... Holy Arrow - repeatedly fire arrows of light at anyone who attacked you within the last 10 seconds. But seriously, no.
  15. The pitiful amount Runescape could ever teach you could all learn with much more depth in real life. Besides, when you play Runescape, do you go, "Oh goody, I'm going to learn about life!" You never learn anything unless you set your mind to learning. The only things you ever learn without intending to learn is if it's thrown repeatedly in your face until your mind registers it, which in that case it is probably worthless. To they guy who said about learning English in Runescape: You could if you set your mind to it, but it isn't the game that's making you learn, it is conversing with people and reading, which you could do far more effectively by socialising or reading books. The only English I've ever learned in Runescape (and I'm not a primary English speaker either) are words such as LOL, NOOB, BRB, GTG, SAFER, FFS, WTF, etc. Not very educational.
  16. And they get a warning for misuse of the report feature. Everyones happy! \ Well, except the trigger happy reporter, and Jadex staff for the extra work... There is no perfect solution, I guess. :| Yeah well, my point was that it is too much work for JAGeX. So there.
  17. And if a spammer decided to send PMs to over 75 people at the same time, I daresay he would not be able to read a thing if just 10 people replies.
  18. And since when do people read everything regarding a rule carefully before they report? They will just see "Begging" on the Report Screen and spam it.
  19. They don't really affect you much, especially if you ignore them. They actually amuse me at times, watching their pitiful antics.
  20. ... What? You do realise that Dragonite is a metal and not real dragon scales? If I want armour made of dragonscales I would get dragonhide. Dragonite is a metal from Frenaskae, the dimension where the Mahjarrat comes from - warriors introduced into Gielinor during the god Wars. The armour and weapons they used were made of Dragonite.
  21. The problem is, most quest contribute to a storyline, and once the story has been told (quest completed) you aren't realistically be able to complete it again (for example, I doubt you could just go back and kill Elvarg again and again after you have killed her... or go back and kill Delrith or something... it just doesn't make sense). There might be redoable quests, but that would be more along the lines of a minigame.
  22. I would expect liquid explosives to have a tendency to explode at the slightest movement, meaning it would probably go off the moment you fall over and get hit or something... but why not?
  23. So people who happened to play longer get an item that is basically an immunity against undead (useful for F2Pers training prayer at Bone Yard), and no one else can get it? The point of holiday items is to be... well, for showing off and nothing else. Sorry, but no.
  24. I expect you shouldn't open it because it counts as one item, so if you die likely you would keep it. It is much harder to keep half a dozen of rare items if you die in the Wilderness than a single casket.
  25. Yet as more game content comes in, more and more such players would also flood in. Even if they only have short attention spans, the fact that they keep coming in would probably compensate for the bored ones who keep going out. Besides, those who get bored and leave are likely to come back again when their interest had time to recharge. And on another note, you would be surprised how much idiocy an idiot can tolerate. They seem to enjoy others practising the craft on them as much as they like practising their craft on others.
