  1. Yes, exactly right At level 86 combat, you do have a small chance at some very decent drops that you cam sell. But, if you want steady money... then skilling is a better, perhaps boring, way to go. Hope this helps
  2. As mentioned above by a few other posters, Fleshcrawlers in the SoS can offer fast training... Hope this helps
  3. I hope that you realize that you can train melee very quickly and use very little or no food at all. Lower level level monsters offer fast training (if you can get a steady supply of them) and give the added benefit of barely hurting you. You can train for many, many hours in the Sos (level 1 or 2) and need very little food. Many players seem to think that, as they level up, they must "move on" to higher level monsters. Now, if you want better loot, then that's the right thing to do. But, if you want fast exp, then you want to be constantly hitting something to earn the fast exp. Lower level monsters allow you to do that. Finally, many Trout/Salmon power fishers are happy to give away their fish just to be able to fish more efficiently. So, you may be able to get a lot of free fish next to the Barb village or Shilo. I usually give away hundreds of free, cooked fish every night whenever I power fish. (Trading is faster than dropping) Hope this helps
  4. Well quick is not cheap and cheap is not quick... So, you need to pick which method you want to use. The cheapest way, in F2P, is to RC your own Body runes and cast failed Curses. If you wear full armor of any metal then you can get your magic attack stat to -68 or so. That is enough to always fail whenever you cast a Curse spell. But, even if the spell failed, you still get the full 29 magic exp for the cast. You can wear full helm, chest plate, legs, kite shield, SoS boots, green vambraces, and a staff. You can cast the spell at many, many locations. I prefer to use a 100% safe spot in a multicombat zone. You could try casting from the key room in the Varrock sewers across the water at the 4 zombies in the ladder room. Even if you don't RC your own runes, failed Curse is still a very effective way to train. But you can't autocast it and it never gives any HP exp. Fire strike averages about 19 exp per cast, Curse always 29, Fire Bolt averages about 34, and Crumble Undead averages about 39. The fastest way is to cast whatever spell gives you the most exp per cast. Fally teleport, Hi alch, and Fire Blast all give a lot of exp but are very expensive for training. You can look at the Tip It magic exp table for exact numbers but many F2P people train with failed Curse or Crumble Undead. Hope this helps
  5. No, absolutely not. The magic attack bonus is exactly the same for both. The metal type does not matter. (all pics by DroolMAN) So you can wear full Bronze and get the same negative stat as wearing full Rune. Hope this helps
  6. Well, IMHO, at lower levels you can raise money far faster with skills than you can with monster loot. I suggest raising mining first. Mine iron and then eventually mine coal. Each coal ore can sell for ~175 gp Use the money from selling ores to fund better gear. For example, a single full inventory of coal can earn you about what it takes to buy a ruby amulet of strength. Hope this helps
  7. Why does that matter to you? Well, yeah. Going from P2P to F2P severely limits what you can do. You could just not worry about training and just hang out with friends. Just goof around really. Seems to me that you have a few options... -- Get P2P for a month, sell all of your P2P stuff, return to F2P with some cash. Then maybe use the cash to fund training. -- Keep your P2P stuff just in case you ever return. Note: bank space in F2P is severly limited. -- start a new character and just goof around IMHO, you should play in whatever style you enjoy. Make a decision that is consistent with that view. Hope this helps
  8. Your post is a bit confusing. Are you looking for Range training or Melee training? (You did mention both) Also, what is more important to you: Fast exp or great money? Your answer to both questions allows the community to offer you the clearest advice...
  9. Ok, those can get you to about level 48 if you don't pick them up or to about level 61 if you do pick them up. First, check out Tip It's Range training guide. They have a lot of good places listed Second, pick up your arrows if you can. You can get about 4x as many shots out of them if you do. Third, shoot from a safe spot and pull the monster with a Curse spell. That allows you to safely pick up your arrows and loot. Fourth, consider hunting non-aggressive monsters. You could try White knights, city guards, minotaurs in the SoS. Fifth, consider safe monsters. Caged Port Sarim jail prisoners, caged red monk in Varrock palace, caged lesser in the wizzy tower, zombies in the Varrock sewer ladder room, Al-kharid mine scorps, Al-kharid palace guards, monks, etc. Hope this helps
  10. I'm not sure that I understand why you dismiss Fleshcrawlers so quickly. If you go for harder monsters then you will need to watch your own HPs and make more stops for food and/or bank runs. Plus, there own higher defense usually means that it will take you more sword swings to kill it. But it sounds like you want to minimum interaction training instead. You earn melee exp according to HitDone*4 The level of the monster doesn't matter. Hitting a 2 on a rat earns you 8 in exp. Hitting a 2 on a greater demon earns you the exact same 8 in exp. But fighting a greater demon (or similar) will make you run out of food much, much more quickly than fighting a FC or rat. Now, if you kill the lower level monster quickly then you want another one to quickly take its place. The SoS offers that kind of training. So the fleshcrawlers in the SoS are auto-aggressive (well, for awhile anyway) and are quickly replaced. So they can offer "good" "AFKish" training. If you don't like the FCers then you can go deeper into the SoS to fight other monsters. But remember, it's the Hit that you make that earns you exp, not the level of the monster. Hope this helps
  11. Well, your stat sig shows that you have level 1 in all of your melee fighting skills. So, I presume that you want to raise only Range and/or Magic. For range you really want to pick up your arrows, so monsters that are non-aggressive are probably best. You could try the minotaurs in the SoS from a safe spot. Or, perhaps the White knights in the screen/torture room on the 2nd floor of their castle. If you choose to fight aggressive monsters, then find a good safe spot and use the Curse pulling trick to pull them over to you. That way, you can easily get back most of your arrows. If you are willing to waste arrows then you can try Hobgoblins west of the crafting guild or any of the good magic training spots. For magic, the most cost effective approach is probably failed Curse training. Since you will be using one monster over and over and over again you have a lot of places available. Zombies in the Varrock sewer ladder room, caged red monk in the Varrock palace, Port Sarim jail, monks, white knights, etc. Lots of monsters will work. Hope this helps
  12. No But you could break even if you bought 5 iron ore, bought 2 coal, and mined 8 coal. Cost is 5*100+2*200+300 = 1200 per plate Income from Hi-alching is 1200 per plate So, your cost stays flat but you get mining, max smithing, and magic exp. Or, you could but 5 iron ore and 10 coal for 5*100 + 10*200 = 2500, smelt them into 5 steel bars and then sell them for 600 each to make a profit of 100 gp per bar. But you get only a small amount of smithing exp that way. Then you lose even more money. You need to decide what you really want to do. Do you want max smithing exp, max profit, some of both, cash break even, quick exp, etc? Once you decide what you really want, then you can decide on the best course of action. Finally, keep in mine that even if you got 99 smithing then you can only make the "4th best" armor in the game. So, smithing is not the cash cow that it once was. You can make very good money smithing... but only after spending huge amounts of time and/or money. If you just want money, then you could try mining instead. Hope this helps
  13. Level 80 If you picked them up then you could reach level 96. It would take you about 151k arrows, picked up, to reach 99 Hope this helps
  14. Don't listen to people that say that. They have obviously eaten to many bad kebabs...
  15. Mine is the same . . . Dull in both worlds
  16. When you stop having fun. Keep playing as long as you find satisfaction in reaching goals, enjoy time with friends, enjoy skilling, enjoy making money, enjoy challenges. When none of the above are true, then maybe it's time for a break or another game.
  17. This is kinda OT, but you need to remember that Runescape is a game that, compared to some other MMORPGs, is heavy on grind and light on content. Jagex has tried to adjust skills somewhat in the last few years but if you can't stand the (almost pointless) grinding then maybe you should try WoW or EQ.
  18. Sigh... I'm curious... do you have a suggested way to deal with thread hecklers?
  19. No, he was "supposed" to remember that this forum is called "Help and Advice" and then post accordingly. His post did not do that, (and neither does yours ;) ) He could have noticed that I quoted the word "knives" in the original post: And then noticed that I made it very clear what I was talking about by using the word "arrows" twice in my response So I tried to make it crystal clear that I knew what was being asked and also what my answer pertained to. If you respond negatively to this post, can I then make the same charge against you?
  20. Btw, if you cook what you catch with feathers, then it will take about 143,300 to get to 99 Cooking. Hope this helps
  21. Those can get you to level 79 if you pick up or only about level 68 if you don't. Ok, so you should be able to use each arrow about 4 times before it breaks. Picking up arrows can be made safe, fast, and easy if you use the Curse pulling trick. That partly depends on what you want. For good loot and max efficiency you can use Lesser Demons. You can look under the Karamja volcano or use the 2 on the top of Crandor Island. You can also try the 3 Moss Giants at the south end of Crandor Island. For safer monsters and arrows as drops, you can try the minotaurs in the SoS. Hope this helps
  22. I'm a free player, so I have no experience with using knives. So, I provided what data I had in case knives and arrows of the same type hit for the same amount. Also, rather then criticizing someone that is trying to help... You could have just helped him yourself. Sure is fun and easy to be a heckler isn't it?
  23. Well, if you used Bronze arrows and if you picked them up, then you would need about 137,600 Oh, in that case, you will need about 550,400 Bronze arrows. Hope this helps
  24. What's to not understand? They changed their system to retain the evidence. Legacy just means that the offense happened before they started keeping better records. Thay had the evidence... ... but they just didn't keep it. The player was assumed innocent until the mod saw the evidence. Now, presumably, the old Jagex mods did act in a proper manner. But for these old black marks Jagex has to decide "Do we trust our paid Mods or do we trust this unknown player?"
  25. First, look at the Tip It map of the wildy. It has many of the items on it. Second, a few that I can think of: Nw corner, 3x Cosmic rune spawn Deep North, Sapphire spawn NE corner on island, 3x, 4x Nature rune spawn. Need tele grab North central, used to be a telegrabable item on Red dragon island. End of Lava maza: Steel plate, muddy chest, staff Central, Chaos rune spawn Central, Chaos dwarves. Kill for the muddy key for the muddy chest Central, Bandit camp store and pizza supplies Central graveyard, planks for Dragon slayer quest Central East, Big bone and regular bone respawn Central west, Dark warrior fortress, most lower level runes spawn in castle Central west, worthless tile respawn (lol) SW corner, (worthless) skull respawn SW corner, Zammy wine in house Lower level wildy, various coins and some trash gear. If you wear no gear at all then you can grab 3 items and take them with you to Lumby when you die. Then bank in Lumby and repeat. Hope this helps
