  1. Good method In F2P, smithing is one of the 4 hardest skills to raise. If you spent tens of millions of gp, then you could make the 4th or 5th best armor in the game. Get members and do Iron with a Ruby ring. Otherwise, do steel. Don't You can make money by buying ores and selling the smelted bars but your exp per steel bar is only 17.5 so your exp will go very slowly. Jagex designed the smithing skill to be very hard to raise because the payoff at level 99 was to be able to make the very best, at that time, armor in the game. Nowadays, rune armor is 4th or 5th best and there are a lot of smiths that can make full rune so prices are a lot lower than they were several years ago. If you want money, sell ores or yew logs. Hope this helps
  2. Your stats look fine to me. Definately get a strength potion. Limpwort roots for hobgoblins and red spider egg spawn plus 5 gold. They are so easy to make you might as well stock up on a bunch for regular training. Also, you might try a Strength ammy or Power ammy instead of the Holy symbol. Well, a full load of Iron ore is worth about 2800 gp. A full load of coal is worth about 4900 gp. So, do a bit of mining to finance better gear. Well, better gear will make it a bit easier. You could replace the Addy sword with a Rune scimmy. First, go through the secret door so that you can return, easily, to Crandor Island at any time. Second, bring Teleport runes just in case. Yeah, lobsters are fine. You'll do OK Hope this helps
  3. Well, as you have realized, this issue will happen no matter what level monster you fight. Although, it is less of a problem with higher level monsters. 2 suggestions... 1) Finish off the monster with a firestrike. Kinda clumsy to do but it does "preserve" your chaos runes for the "big hits" 2) Switch to failed Curses. Under the best situation, CU averages about 39 magic exp per cast but failed Curse always gives 29 per cast. So, you will always hit for max exp with Curse instead of averaging something in the mid 30's with CU. Plus you can cast about 3 FC for the same price as 1 CU, so you will get more magic exp per gp spent. (Although it will be a bit slower) You could probably find safe spots outside of Elvargs lair and near the Ankous in the SoS. But, the above ideas will probably work as well. Hope this helps
  4. If you are chopping for exp then switch to willows. If you are chopping for money then you should learn the locations of all 23 yew trees in the F2P world. You can do that by using the "Show" ability of the official RS world map on the Jagex/RS home page. Select the "Rare Trees" option to make them flash. Some spots to consider are : 4 NW of Rimmington, South of Fally, North of Port Sarim, between Draynor Village and Lumby, Lumby Graveyard, Edgeville, south of Varrock, around the Earth altar, next to NE Varrock church, and behind the Varrock palace. Hope this help
  5. For F2P it's mostly Tiaras (52.5), or hard leather (35), or clay bowls (33). Tiaras offer the most exp per unit, but it's either expensive (to buy silver), or involves a lot of walking (mining, banking, smelting) Hard leather is cheaper to buy than silver, or you could kill cows outside the crafting guild and then craft inside. Or, mine clay, soften, shape, and fire clay bowls all on the first floor of the crafting guild. IMHO, crafting is one of the 3 hardest skills to raise in F2P. Hope this helps.
  6. My guess is that Jagex considers your play style over a period of, at least, many months. Remember, in a way, you are "representing" Jagex so they want players that won't embarrass them. IMHO, this is 1 of 2 things that you need to do. The other thing is to post mature comments on the official forums. That's bad news. It shows that you some trouble with your temper... Probably, not what Jagex is looking for. Yes, exactly. Just "not doing" bad things is not enough evidence of your suitability for being a player mod. IMHO, a player mod is a sort of informal policeman in RS. A useful "real world" trick for getting a promotion is to start doing the job "now". So, if you report baddies and show that you are a mature player, then maybe... Hope this helps
  7. You earn melee exp according to Exp = HitDone*4 If you hit a 2 on a lumbridge rat then you would earn 8 exp. If you hit a 2 on a wildy greater demon then you would earn the exact same 8 exp. So, the most efficient training comes from hitting some monster(s) "constantly". The level doesn't really matter. Well, obviously, monsters that are a lot lower than you will be easy to hit and, hence, provide steady exp. If you select the right monster(s) to train on, then you won't need much food at all. If you select lower level monsters for the steady exp that they offer, then you get the side benefit of taking very little damage yourself. That way, you won't need much food, (if any), at all. A full load of trout can last you many days if you train on lowbies. So, food cost is not an issue. Personally, I'd rather have fun during the few hours that I get to play. (Instead of having to spend that time grinding...) Train by slaughtering lowbies in the SoS. The idea is to be hitting something, constantly. Lowbies are easy to hit and won't hurt much, if at all. That way, you won't need much food. The 1st and 2nd levels of the Sos have rooms crowded full of fast respawning lower level monsters. You can spend hours and hours down there killing non-stop for good exp. The fleshcrawlers are good to use. Hope this helps
  8. In RSC days, any reference to an object that was not downloaded but was in the game was displayed as "null" Example: another player's position and look are downloaded but because of his name is not downloaded. Then that characters name would appear as null. Another option, of course, is a memory hex editor.
  9. 4) There's also the wise old man bed, telescope, and video...
  10. Here are 3 that are kinda weak, nevertheless... 1) Go and Examine Diego in Draynor village. 2) IIRC, the Draynor village witch will also do "something" bad to you if you select the right conversation options. Carefully check your inventory before and after. 3) Shantay will also do something kinda "interesting" if you select the right conversation choice.
  11. You can take a look at Tip It's mining location guide. IIRC, a Dwarven stout (bought in Fally) will let you enter at level 59 So, you could powermine iron in Al-Kharid or the bear mine just to reach 59 and then enter the guild that way. Hope this helps
  12. The fastest Melee training usually comes from hitting lower level monsters. So, try the first level of the SoS. The idea is to be hitting constantly. You don't need high level monsters for fast training, you need a constant supply of lowbies. Try the minotaurs in the SoS. You can find a safe spot to use. Pick up your arrows. Also, they drop a lot of arrows. Prayer is very hard to raise in F2P. You can bury all of the bones of the monsters that you kill but it will still be hard to raise. You can go to a spot that has a lot of bone respawns and just bury them. The rat room near the entrance of the Edgeville dungeon has a lot. Also, you can wear only 3 items and visit one of the bone respawn places in the wildy. There is one in the SE part and then the big boneyard north of it. It actually has 3 or so big bones respawns. If you wear only 3 items then you can die to PKers and not lose any gear. Failed Curse always gives 29 magic exp per cast. Fire strike averages only about 18 per cast. Cost is about the same per cast. So, wear your worst magic attack gear and go and Curse from the key room in the Varrock sewers across the water at the 4 zombies in the ladder room. That's a 100% safe spot. Another hard one to raise in F2P. Body runes give the most exp per trip and you can use the Barbarian fence shortcut to speed up the trip from Edgeville. Plus you need them anyway for failed Cursing. Fire runes are the next best per trip but the trip is kinda long. Air on world 16 are always popular. Another slow one. In F2P it comes down to Clay bowls, Cow hides, and Tiaras. For clay items you can use the official Jagex world map to flash kiln locations. Make your stuff. Eventually, gather hides from killing cows near the lumby cow pen and then bank them. Later, use Al-Kharid to tan them and then make items will walking to the bank. That will go up with any damage that you do on a monster. Power mining Iron is the fastest way to raise mining. But eventually, you will want to bank ore to make some cash. The 3 Iron rocks in Al-Kharid are good for power mining. Varrock SE is popular for banking iron. You could try Lumby swamp SW and bank in Draynor for coal. Another slow one. Just iron has a 50% chance of making an iron bar. Iron with 2 coal will make steel. Steel bars sell for 550 or so. So you can make decent money selling those. Otherwise, smithing steel give 55 exp per 1 Iron and 2 coal smelted/smithed. Start with shrimp and work your way up to trout. Use the Tip It guide to fish locations. You can buy some raw supplies in the Port Sarim fish shop. When you can do trout, just fly fish at the Barbarian river. If you want to save what catch then bank in Edgeville. Eventually, you may want to do lobster for healing food but not for fast exp. ('Course if you are killing low level monsters then you won't need much food ;) ) Cook the fish that you catch. Don't bother with any other food. Cooking will rise faster than fishing so it's almost a free skill. You can cook raw fish next to the bank if you have a supply of raw fish and logs banked. Otherwise, just cut down a tree near your fishing spot, burn it, cook the fish, and then drop them. Another pair of skills that go together. Cut and burn. Use the best axe that you can but don't bother cutting higher than willow if you only want the exp. Cut Yew when you want to make some cash. Fire starting will rise faster then wood cutting so you could consider selling the logs in the Rimmington or Lumby general store. If you time your burning right, then you don't even need to bend over to light the logs. In F2P, Prayer and Runecrafting are very, very hard to raise. Crafting and Smithing are just hard to raise. Most of the other skills just require time. Money making skills include mining (iron and above), fishng (lobsters), and woodcutting (yew). Finally, realize that Jagex has designed RS skills to be timesinks. They did that because RS, IMHO, doesn't really have enough non-skill content to keep players busy. If you get bored then remember that RS is not the only online game that you can play. GW is free after you buy the CD and even EQ has a totally free version. Hope this helps
  13. Well, for F2P, I have tried to raise all of my stats to "decent" numbers. Runecrafting and Prayer are very hard Crafting and Smithing are hard (unless you have a lot of money) All the other skills just take time...
  14. Yep, 2*Level+1 or about 15 minutes. Either will work
  15. Well, you could just try the door from under the Karamja volcano. I have read on these forums that killing Elvarg does unlock the door automatically since you can't do the ship thing again after finishing the quest. Not sure what happens if you fail. Just go try the door anyway. Hope this helps
  16. If you think about your question for a moment, then you'll realise that you're kinda asking for the impossible. What can make iron spot crowded is its closeness to a bank. If it's good for you then it will be good for everyone else also and, hence, ruin its 'non-crowdedness'. You could do a bit of investigation here. Look at the Tip It page on mining locations. They have all of the F2P mining sites listed as well as the ore found there. Then, go and visit those places and do some test mining. Then decide what, when, and where works best for you. Sometimes players don't want to tell the world about their "great" spot. After all, won't advertising their favorite place "ruin" it? You have to mine, at most, about 35000 ore so it's probably worth a bit of walking to find the best place that you can. That being said, Varrock East is close to a bank. With 80 mining and a rune pic you may be able to get the ore first most of the time. Another possibility is to just power mine Iron to get to 85 as quickly as possible. Then you'll only need about 9 full loads of runite ore to "buy back" all of the iron ore that you dropped. :-k 'Course, with that kind of money you will probably just want to buy steel bars instead of iron ore and coal. It's boring mostly. I got to 85 using those 3 Al-Kharid rocks. Just get a pair of headphones and a good CD to make it tolerable. That depends if you drop, sell, or bank them. A very, very rough estimate is 16.6 hours. That's 1 effective willow log every 6 seconds. That estimate includes dropping the logs instead of banking or selling them. You can always do a cutting time experiment and see for yourself. Time how long it takes to cut and drop a full inventory. Then, extrapolate to 10000 I always liked cutting south of Rimmington since it's peaceful and there are a lot of trees available along the coast. Hope this helps
  17. Free players can make a members only object... Use Karamja Rum with Al-Kharid silk and you get the poison cleaning cloth that displays as a "member's object"
  18. Raising F2P smithing is a slow or expensive process. Generally speaking, med level ore/bars are the most practical things to use. You would need about 11000 iron ore and 22000 coal ore to reach your goal if you smelted and smithed all of it. But why do you want 70 smithing? Yes, you could smelt Addy bars and sell them for ~2k each but Rune armor is now about the 5th best armor in the game so the market is not what it used to be. Mining It's much, much easier and cheaper to raise. Iron and Coal ore are always in demand. Mith and Addy ore can provide decent money as you level up. Hope this helps
  19. My sister has a daughter that is a Marine fighting over in Iraq at the moment. You would definately not want to get into a knife fight against her...
  20. Also, keep in mind that a safe spot can be to just stand outside of the monster's walk area. You don't always need an object in the middle to be effective. For example, I used to range the western Crandor Island Moss Giant by simply standing just north of his walk area. He would usually just stand there and die with nothing between us. (Although, sometimes I could get him to moonwalk too, lol) So, you might be able to pull the Lessers south, over to near the cave access hole and kill them from there. Hope this helps
  21. There are/were at least 3 safe spots for those 2 lessers. The first was just south of the eastern edge of the plateau. It's in the weeds with a log to the south and west. The second is just the far NE corner of the plateau. The third is, basically, the west side of the north edge of the plateau. There are probably other spots as well. I normally used the SE spot since you have good visibility there. I usually killed them with Range or Magic. If you use Range then you might want to use the Curse pulling trick to be able to get most of your arrows back fast, easy, and safe. Hope this helps
  22. Are you suggesting that there is something wrong with being female?
  23. It depends on what you mean when you write "Better" The Mining & Smithing is goal is much, much harder but can earn you some money. The Strength & Range goal is easier and allows you to earn some nice loot. Hope this helps
  24. It would take you about 7370 FS to go from 68 to 70 The average exp that you get from casting a nuke like FS is the BaseExp + HitDone*2 but HitDone averages about MaxHit/2 So, your average exp is BaseExp + MaxHit Btw, you might want to consider switchng to failed Curse. You would need, at most, only 4573 of those. The cost per cast is about the same. Hope this helps
