  1. ...what? You don't need to wear a certain amulet to train that stat; I never claimed that you had to wear an amulet to train that stat. Yes, obviously... The typical thought process behind not training melee combat stats equally is something like "Train Strength +10 more than DEf and ATK so that you will hit harder" So ATK, DEF, and STR stats of 30,30,40 would be viewed as better than 34.5, 34.5, 34.5 (That's the same overall exp) My comment was directed as those who want, for example, the higher STR stat. Namely, you can get higher STR in F2P by wearing a Power ammy, or Ruby ammy, and using a STR potion. So, you have more than 1 way to raise STR. (3 actually) Likewise, you can raise DEF 2 ways (power ammy and DEF ammy) But F2P ATK only has a power ammy to raise it. So, for those players that are wondering how to level, there are ways to raise STR, or ATK, or DEF without having to raise that skill. So they could hit harder (Ruby ammy with STR potion) yet still train in a controlled style. Hope this helps
  2. First or second level of the SoS under the Barbarian village. You earn exp according to HitDone*4 So the best exp is earned when you are constantly hitting and don't need to stop for food and/or bank runs. Crowded rooms with fast respawning monsters offer fast, safe, and easy training. That's the SoS Hope this helps
  3. Good choice Why wait? Things are only gonna get better/easier when you get members. That depends on what you goals are for your character. In melee F2P you can wear a Def ammy, Str ammy, or Power ammy. You can also get 4 dose Str potions for 5 gp in Varrock. So, Str is easy to raise. Def can be raised with 2 of the ammies but Atk with only 1. Hence, I suggest equalizing your stats. I tend to view a melee combat stat lower than the others as a weakness rather than the higher one as a strength. (You know, a glass half-empty or half-full) The only real reason to train elsewhere is either Big Bones or better loot. Stay where you are if you just want exp. Hope this helps
  4. First, find out if you are still vulnerable to getting this character stolen. There's no point in advancing another character just to have it stolen as well Find out, if you can, how your first character got stolen. Was it a key logger or a "friend" looking over your shoulder, etc Well, you play to have fun... So, do what you enjoy. Do it if you enjoy it. The PKing lifestyle has its ups and downs. Don't do it if you can't accept that. Too desperate to do the PKing that you are already doing? What's the big rush? You can do a lot with 597k Decide what it is that you like doing and establish some goals for yourself. Then work towards accomplishing those goals. 'Course, maybe what you really meant to ask is "How can I become a more sucessfull PKer?" or maybe "What is a good way to earn F2P money?" Hope this helps
  5. Your combat level depends on your dominant fighting stat. IIRC, RS compares (Attack + Strength)*2 against Range*3 and Magic*3 The largest of the 3 is used in the formula (weighted by about 13/80) The rest of the formula uses Defense/4, HitPoints/4, and Prayer/8 Hope this helps
  6. FWIW, if you work the combat level formula "backwards" you find that this player would have about 3 (or less) max Hit Points to have a combat level of only 1
  7. I attacked the Varrock dummies in RSC and my stats actually went up (as expected)
  8. There are safe spots on Crandor for skellies. You can usually safely shoot from above them... Hope this helps
  9. Yeah, the required exp "doubles" every 7 levels. (about 10.4% more per level) In other words, going from 60-67 takes the "same" exp as going from 1-60...
  10. Ok, that tells me that you are a very efficient leveler. In other words, you were "smart" and spent the least amount of time and effort getting as high as you did. Does it matter? To whom? Why? Play in whatever style pleases you. That could be exactly the same exp in Atk, Str, and Def (like me) or the same level for all stats (like the player with all 88's that always levels all skills evenly), or get multiple 200M exp skills. Just have fun playing in "your" style. Really Hope this helps
  11. Well, Crandor island is rather small so it's easy to switch between Lessers, Mossies, Scorpions, and Skellies. Plus, you get to watch the occasional Elvarg hunter do his thing... Hope this helps
  12. 'Course, that's just what he would say if he wanted you to leave "his" monsters alone. Why was he at FC if they are worse than MG? Mossies are usually way overhunted. So, you probably won't be able to get enough of them fast enough to level well. Plus, they have higher defense so you will hit less often and, because they have higher attack as well, they will hit you more often requiring you to use more food. That will slow down your leveling when you stop to bank. Mossies give more exp per kill compared to a Flesh Crawler. That might be what he's thinking. But consider, how can you possibly do any better than to be a non-stop killing machine slaughtering critters? It's the hits that counts towards exp, not the level or exp per monster. You really want to be hitting constantly for fast exp. But, rather than take our word for it, do an experiment for yourself. Take 3 lobsters and kill Mossies for 30 minutes and then kill FCs for 30 minutes and see how you do. Then, hunt whatever worked best for you. Hope this helps
  13. Ummm i can barly hit on white knights... Well, if we believe in Jagex's PK triangle, then a ranger shouldn't be able to "hit" an armored enemy like a white knight. A Crandor Mossie or Crandor Lesser Demon could be possible. I got to F2P level 80 ranging using Bronze, lol, against those lessers. My technique was: enter my safe spot, cast a Curse to pull the lesser over to my safe spot, shoot it with rapid fire, when its dead - get loot and arrows, repeat. IIRC, took about 23 arrows and earned me about 368 exp per kill. Since I had the safe spot, I never bothered to bring any food. You can also try the crandor Mossies. There was/is a safe spot along the north wall and just north of the western mossie. You could even try the Crandor scorpions. There is/was a safe spot in the bushes. No one ever hunts those guys. Hope this helps
  14. Well, the monsters do get harder as you go deeper Level 1 < 2 < 3 < 4 and some monsters are auto-aggressive and some are not. So, if you get bored then you could work on getting your sceptre or even try harder monsters for fun/loot. But your food consumption and exp per hour will suffer. RS is a game heavily oriented, unfortunately, towards mindless exp grinding so taking a break to work on other things can help keep it fresh. Finally, take a look at Tip It's SoS guide. It has maps and a discussion of each level. Hope this helps
  15. Why do you think that you have to move on? In some other games, like EQ, you earn exp according to difference between your combat level and the level of the monster. But in Rs, you earn exp only according to HitDone*4. The level of the monster doesn't matter. Hitting a 2 on a rat earns the exact same 8 exp as hitting a 2 on a Greater Demon, so you might as well make it easy and safe on yourself and kill lower level monsters. Now, a lower level monster will die quickly so you want to have a replacement right away. That means fast respawn or crowded conditions. The SoS is ideal for that. I suggest that you stay right where you are hunting Flesh crawlers. For fast exp you really want to be killing non-stop. The SoS can allow you to do that. Low level monsters are for fast exp, high level monsters are for good loot. Hope this helps
  16. lol Actually, that reminds me of another DYK... You can usually speed up mining a slow rock (mith, addy, runite) by walking away and then returning and trying to mine it again.
  17. SedrikI's answer was right on. Btw, your question was a good "Newbie" question. It was not a "Noob" question...
  18. 2 things... 1) This is not a "must read" topic 2) You're fine, don't worry about it. It takes a lot more than 1 inaccurate report to get your character in trouble...
  19. In F2P there are onions in the field between Rimmington and Melzar's maze and also by the farmers house just south of the windmill north of Lumbridge. Hope this helps
  20. wrong! you can go get another one from the guy in the champions guild! ... Oziak definitely won't give you a replacement key after you finish the quest. hope this helps. Legends is only available to members, not free players. However, I have confirmed what tintin113 has said, namely, that the Champions Guild master will, in fact, give free players another Melzar's maze key, even after you finish the quest. Didn't always used to be like that. The quest was updated since I finished it years ago.
  21. I would think that by level 63 you would already know where to fish... Nevertheless, it depends if you are P2P or F2P. For F2P you can try fly fishing in the river next to the Barbarian village. Hope this helps
  22. No? If you do the drop-all-and-get-another method, you can get 29. Now go to the bank and note them all. You can't note them...
  23. They get killed for the muddy key. That's a very easy way to get about 5k worth of stuff...
  24. Really!? After you, as a free player, had finished the Dragon Slayer quest? I'll try it tonight. I have always wanted to return to Melzar's... Why? There's nothing in melzar's maze lol. Just monster spawns that you can have all to yourself...
  25. Really!? After you, as a free player, had finished the Dragon Slayer quest? I'll try it tonight. I have always wanted to return to Melzar's...
