Suggestions For A New Combat-Affecting Skill?
Another possibility is to do something like the Alternate Advancement system in EQ. In that system you can choose to send a part of your exp into earning AA levels. When you have earned enough AA levels you cash them in for increased performance. For example, the first thing that most players get is a permanent 30% speed increase. Most of the benefits are % based. So you might get 5-10-20% more healing out of your food, or 5-10-20% more damage from a nuke, or 5-10-20% decreased prayer drain rate, 5-10-20% increased special attack damage, 5-10-20% decreased chance for weak hits, etc. It might take 2 hours of killing to earn 1 AA and a 20% boost would cost 12 AAs. At present, there are, roughly, 2500 AA worth of stuff that a player can buy. So, even maxed out players would have something to work towards that actually improved their character. Right now, the only reason to get more than 13 million exp in a skill is to get higher on the hi-scores list. This scheme would allow a player to use that "unused" exp to selectively boost their abilities.

Suggestions For A New Combat-Affecting Skill?
Well, if Jagex removed the level 99 cap but kept the 200 million exp cap, then your stats could go all the way up to level 126. That, in turn, would make the new max combat level be 160

Level Cap
True, but there are 2 sides to every story. And the other side is that RS doesn't sell new mega expansions like EQ, WoW, GW, etc that offer greatly expanded content. Jagex does that (for now) to allow "lower" income players to be able to play the game and not "finish" it. (Well, most players, anyway) In other words, Jagex has substituted grinding for content. Personally, I would rather have mega expansions but the target market of RS, (youth), has limited financial capability compared to the target markets for EQ, Wow, etc. I think that what players probably want is increased capability. Higher caps allow that. Well, it is a less complex game compared to others. But then, RS can be played within minutes on a public library computer by players with very little money. I think that Jagex's target market and game implementation has lead to certain compromises to be able to "grab" the youth niche market. Jagex has decided to not compete directly with larger, more sophisticated games like Wow or EQ. According to some data that was presented in these forums a few weeks ago, RS has more players than EQ and Vanguard. So, in that sense, Jagex has made a smart decision to "do" RS the way that they have. Nah, we want more fun from higher hits, more hitpoints, bigger nukes, etc. But to be fair to Jagex, they have made training in P2P easier than it was back when only 15000 people were playing the game. (Prayer and Crafting come to mind.) So, Jagex's treatment of RS is fluid and subject to change (gimp or nerf) The trend in the past few years is to make skill training easier and then release more skills, gear, and monsters to keep us happy.

Level Cap
I think that you are mis-understanding what he is saying. He is saying that the exp for a skill is stored as a 32 bit integer but the displayed value is presented as that value divided by 10. Hence, the max displayed value would be about 214 million if there were no display caps in place. They probably do something like that for total exp since that total could go as high as ~ 23*2.14 billion You have to be very careful here since most of those zeros will never change. A double precision float number has about 16 digits that can be multiplied by up to about 10^308 (For example, in the Matlab programming language the maximum real number is 1.79769313486232*10^308) You never get the full accuracy of a ~308 digit number. In other words, 10^300 + 1 = 10^300 when using a finite 16 digit number system. This means that, eventutally, the exp of a player would "naturally" cap, at a far lower level, when the exp gained from an action would be in the 17th digit position of his skill exp. Hope this helps

Average ammount of arrows for 85 range ?
Using your accumulator, about 29600 for Iron or about 26300 for Steel. Hope this helps

Level Cap
True, but many online games to exactly that anyway. EQ has gone from a max of 50 to the present 75 (with fall plans for 80) Yes So, the game developer never fixes the problem. They just keep adding newer, higher level content and better gear to keep us playing. Meanwhile, older content becomes obsolete. The best that a developer can do is to slow down the process by giving us other things to do. Things like new skills and % ability modifiers.

How far...?
About level 64.7 That's assuming that your max hit is 7-8 now and that it increases to 8-9 and that you pick up an average of 75% of your arrows. Hope this helps
-
Level Cap
Well, most online games do raise their caps as the years go by. Otherwise, maxed out players get bored and quit. Well, the max integer in RS is, IIRC, 2^31-1 That's 2,147,483,647 Now, RS does keep track of exp values less than 1 (killing randoms gives 1/10 normal exp, killing a rat in controlled gives 2.666... exp, etc) So, perhaps, the displayed value of exp is actually 1/10 times the stored value. If that were true, then the true max displayed exp would be 214,748,364.7 (Note that RS has a displayed exp cap of 200 million exp.) That, in turn, would be level 127.3 for any particular stat which leads to a new max combat level of 162.3 'Course, all of this is just idle speculation...

2 questions
When that happens to me, it is usually an auto update for Windows, Norton/Symantec, or Spyhunter running in the background. Try to see when the auto update is scheduled to run. You can usually configure that for "Notify me only" and/or run update at midnight instead. Slaughter lower level monsters in the first or second levels of the SoS. You earn melee exp according to HitDone*4 The level of the monster doesn't matter. Hitting a 2 on a Rat or Lesser Demon will earn you the exact same 8 in melee exp. So, if you can find a room full of fast respawning monsters that can't hurt you, then you can be hitting non-stop for hours at a time. You won't need to take a break for food or bank runs. Try the fleshcrawlers in the SoS. Hope this helps

Does this account need to move on and train on tougher thing
I'm not sure I understand why you link training F2P skills with getting members. The member worlds automatically include the F2P part as well as the P2P part. Of course, members can use F2P worlds as well. So, unless you really can't afford the $5 (or so) for a membership, you should, IMHO, go ahead and get members now. Most ranging is done from a safe spot. So, you can usually go after a higher level monster since they have the higher hitpoints. I usually use the Crandor Island lessers since I can usually get them to myself. Otherwise, try the minotaurs in the SoS. There is a safe spot that you can use and they drop a lot of arrows as loot. If you pick up your arrows, those 3k Iron/Steel arrows can get you to level 58. Well, it really depends on your playstyle and goals. My own goals were to become F2P competent in every skill. That meant rasing every skill until I could do everything in that skill that a free player was allowed to do. (BTW, I'm at 14 out of 15) But, really, play your character the way that pleases you. Hope this helps

a whole new level of stuff
Most online games eventually suffer from this "gear inflation". Players want better rewards as they level up and become more capable. If the game developer didn't set higher goals then the game would die as players max out, get bored, and quit. My bet is that Jagex will raise the Hit Point cap from 99 to ...

Where is the best place to chop yews?
This is always an interesting question... Interesting because if there really were a best place to cut yews it would (probably) be quickly over-run with autoers and legitimate choppers. After all, if it's the "best" place then everyone else would also use it... ... And then the overcrowding would probably ruin it. But then if it's ruined as the best place then people would stop using it. and then it's not so bad anymore so people start to use it again... Anyway, if you go to the official Jagex RS homepage and take a look at the world map, then you will see that you can flash the locations of all of the "rare" trees in Rs. In the F2P world, that will flash the locations of all 23 F2P yew trees. Go and visit those "flashed" locations and see if you can find one that works well for you. For example, there's a yew tree in the Lumby graveyard and 3 near the Earth altar. There are 4 yews NW of Rimmington and 1 next to the NE Varrock church. Even a few between Draynor Village and Lumby. The Edgeville ones are popular. So are the Varrock palace ones. Even the trees near the Fally south entrance. Members have even more places to choose from. Hope this helps

Does this account need to move on and train on tougher thing
So, you want monsters that will allow "fast" training and have some decent drops? If you stay F2P for awhile then you could try the Crandor Island Moss giants. I suggest that you split your time between fast training and mining. Spend an hour doing each. 5 full loads of iron ore can earn you about 14000 gp Members have far more, better training options available. That partly depends on what weapon you are using. Some weapons are better in the slash, or stab, or crush style. The rune scimmy controlled style is "stab" which is, IIRC, weaker than it's slash style. So, I suggest using a weapon in it's strongest style. Well if you raised attack first and used a STR potion with a diamond or ruby ammy then you would be "hitting more and hitting higher" than it you leveled evenly. But, it you are training on easy monsters anyway than it probably won't matter much anyway. Hope this helps

Does this account need to move on and train on tougher thing
Well, I hate to answer a question with another question, but... What do you think/hope to gain by "moving on"? You earn melee exp as HitDone*4 The level of the killed monster doesn't matter. So, the fastest training happens when you can be hitting "constantly" with very little downtime for food, loot, or bank runs. So, if you can do that now with FC and Z's then it sounds like you are in a great training spot. You could move a bit deeper if you are 1 hitting the monsters but otherwise, IMHO, the only reason to "move on" is if you want better loot or big bones. Why wait? Everything is better in members... Hope this helps

some questions
200M is the cap on the displayed value of exp. The actual exp cap is probably about 214,748,364.7 2^31-1 or a little more than 2.14 billion Something like "Next level at 14,391,160 exp" Hope this helps

Quick Range Question XD
It depends on your range level. Max hit for Iron is something like MaxHit = (Range + 15)/9 So, an estimate for the average Hit would be HitDone = MaxHit/2 The exp earned is Exp = HitDone*4 so putting it all together would be Exp ~= 2000*(Range + 15)/9 assuming that you don't gain any Range levels from the gained exp as you use up those 1k arrows. Finally, if you pick up your arrows then you can get about 4000 shots out of those 1000 arrows... Hope this helps

F2P Crafting Help
Usually, Cost effective and Short time are opposite extremes... Well, for F2P crafting you have: Tiaras give 52.5 Hard leather give 35 Clay bowls give 33 Gold amulets give 30 You could spend a lot of money doing higher exp items but since you mentioned "cost effective" then I suggest you stick with the above. You have access to the crafting guild so you can use the guild, guild cow pen, guild mining rocks, guild kiln, pottery stuff, and/or tanner to do most of the above. You can do Hard leather in/next to the guild and clay bowls all on the first floor of the guild. IMHO, don't bother getting more than 70 in F2P. What's the point? If you really want to level crafting then get members. P2P have so many better ways of training. IMHO, Runecrafting, Prayer, and Crafting are the slowest F2P skills. What do you mean? The cost of the raw supplies for a power amulet are a lot less than the selling price of the final product. So, you will always make money selling them. But if you want to make money then mining is probably a faster and a lot cheaper way to get cash. No, because you are creating a second object. The unenchanted amulet and the enchanted amulet are 2 different things. They are not going to exist in the same note. Hope this helps

Need help to level up :)
Any place that allows you to easily slaughter monsters will be good. Why are you doing those guys? You earn combat exp as HitDone*4 the level of the monster doesn't matter. So if you hit a 2 on a rat you earn 8 exp. If you hit a 2 on a greater demon you earn the exact same 8 in exp. So you may as well make it easy on yourself and hunt monsters that are easy for you to hit, respawn quickly, can't hurt you much, and are not overhunted. The first and second levels of the SoS are full of monsters like that. With your stats, you should be able to stay down there for days at a time slaughtering monsters non-stop. You want to be hitting constantly. High level monsters are for loot. Low level monsters are for fast, easy exp. Hope this helps

Why Won't Flesh Crawlers Auto Attack Anymore?!
Unless they are naturally aggressive to all levels, of course...
-
Why Won't Flesh Crawlers Auto Attack Anymore?!
Auto aggressiveness depends on level (2*Level+1) as well as the natural aggressiveness of the monster. IIRC, Flesh crawlers will attack everyone, regardless of level. So, just leave the room and then return. Changing your location resets the AFK training timer. Hope this helps

Iron Scimmy VS Blurite Sword (Silverlight added)
Which one? :-k Maybe this will help... (pics by DroolMAN) Hope this helps

range help
about 75.9 about 59.9 If you hunt minotaurs in the SoS then you can get a lot of arrows as drops. You can also use Curse pulling to make arrow pick up safe, fast, and easy. Hope this helps

What is so bad about RC pk'ing?
I always thought that Jagex made an, hmm, "interesting" decision when they including unwilling PKing in the RS world. Some other MMORPG games have special servers for those that want to play the PK lifestyle and other non-PK servers for those that don't. I guess that Jagex figured it would create an interesting game to have tension between players in the world. Tension between wildy/abyss travelers and those PKers that want to mug them. I'm not convinced that making some players "victims" of other players is good for the health of the game, overall. The problem with that approach is that they hurt their corporate revenue by forcing that "1 size fits all" playstyle on all players. That "lack" of game playstyle choice is why I have never become a member. I'm not going to reward Jagex with my money to play a game that becomes "annoying" instead of rewarding. Lately, I've started playing another game, (one that costs me 3 times as much as what an RS membership would cost me), simply because it allows me a choice. Those that want to PK or duel or stake should be allowed to do so with the full support of Jagex. But those of us that want to skill or face challenging monster encounters instead shouldn't have to "pay to be annoyed"...

bone drops
Hmm, probably the Lumby Chicken farm, Lumby cow pasture, and crafting guild cow pasture. You could also wear only 3 items and use the south-east wildy altar. IIRC, it has no aggressive monsters near it and has a lot of regular bone respawns. Just north of there is the wildy boneyard that has about 3 Big Bone respawns. 'Course in both places PKers can get you, so wear just 3 items. You could also try the entrance of the Edgeville dungeon. There are regular bone respawns near the entrance and east of there in the rat room. After 10 minutes or so the rats will stop being aggressive so you can pick up the bones in peace. Prayer is very hard and slow to raise in F2P. Hope this helps.
