"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
It's good that you're cutting her out of your life. It's the right move. People who were dating can't be friends... at least not after they've had plenty of time (usually years) to heal and get over it.

Today...
My mom always gives me a shitload of chocolate. I'm so not complaining  What I do find funny is how people NEVER go to church.. then suddenly on Christmas and Easter it's absolutely packed. I feel like.. if you think it's important to attend church at all you should go as often as you can, not just twice a year. idk. It always seemed silly to me. As if people are hoping that by attending on the 'important' days they'll be 'safe' and fulfill their obligations to their religion or something.

Trailers and Trolls - New RuneScape Trailer
This isn't a Jagex thing. It's a gaming industry thing. Almost all game companies make cinematic trailers for their games. SWTOR LOTRO WOW ..just to name a few. This is a very, very common thing in the gaming industry as a whole. It isn't Jagex being stupid or misleading players. There is a reason it's called a CINEMATIC trailer and not a GAMEPLAY trailer. Those are two very different things. Cinematic trailers are meant to look more like movies and give people an introduction into the game's world/story/setting/etc. The're not meant to show you what it's like to play the game. They're meant to get you excited and maybe give you an idea of what the story/background is like. Honestly, there's a reason I hate watching RuneScape videos and gameplay trailers. The RuneScape graphics suck. The animations are lame. They're just not visually appealing or fun to watch or intense or full of emotion. You can't have any of those things in RuneScape trailers because of the limitations in the graphics/game engine. But if you make a cinematic trailer completely outside of the game, you CAN have intensity and emotion and more complex/exciting animations. That's what Jagex wants. That's the point of a cinematic trailer.

More Books: First Edition, Signed, Oldies
===The Oldies=== Not necessarily first editions or even valuable books, but just old books. Old books are awesome :P Pride & Prejudice [hide=Photos] [/hide] The Iliad [hide=Photos] [/hide] Count of Monte Cristo (in 3 volumes) These are probably the most fragile books I have. The pages practically crumble in my hands. [hide=Photos] [/hide] Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through The Looking Glass [hide=Photos] [/hide] ===First Editions=== First edition AND first printing of the book. The Sight (First American Edition) [hide=Photos] [/hide] Firesong (First American Edition) [hide=Photos] [/hide] Fire [hide=Photos] [/hide] Brisingr [hide=Photos] [/hide] ===Misc.=== I didn't bother photographing these.. I guess because these are the ones I either don't care about or I'm just not that proud of. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (First Edition, First Printing) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling (First American Edition, First Printing) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling (First American Edition, First Printing) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling (First American Edition, First Printing) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (First American Edition, First Printing) Luthiel's Song by Robert Marston Fannéy (Signed) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (First Edition, First Printing, no cover jacket) - I have no idea why I have this.. I found it hidden away in the back of my bookshelf, saw it was a first edition, went wtf. Then cried inside because I don't have the cover jacket. With the cover jacket it'd be worth at least a few hundred USD. The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich (First Edition, First Printing) Still more I have yet to look through!

RWT advertisement on TIF forum?
Tip.It upholds all of RuneScape's Rules and that includes the RWTing rule ;) We have no plans to ever change that. If we ever did (again - doubtful), there would definitely be a big announcement about it.

I honestly hate it when people don't use at least some smilies. It makes them seem so completely emotionless and monotone D:

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
I doubt #1. Especially because the investors don't even live in the UK (IIRC they're from New York?). If you're running the company you really at least have to be in the same country :/ I imagine it would be difficult to run it from overseas. And I don't think Jagex has taken on investors because they're desperate. I think it's because they do want to grow and it's rare that companies can grow immensely without investments. Jagex knows that RuneScape can't be their only game forever. Games rarely last as long as RuneScape has already. If Jagex wants to continue to exist after RuneScape they need another product. In order to expand into another product, they do need investments. They need to be able to hire new staff and dedicate those new employees and resources to other games, while continuing to be able to fully support RuneScape. So I wouldn't call Jagex desperate because they turned to investors. They turned to investors because they are looking to grow and expand as a company, which is perfectly understandable. If they stick to only RuneScape forever, they're basically a company with an expiration date. Maybe not a specific one, but it's unlikely that RuneScape will exist forever (or at least be profitable forever).

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
Just because some investors have done that doesn't mean they all do and it doesn't mean Jagex's do. My dad is a successful investor and so are many of his friends. He's adamant that most investors would prefer to invest in the company, help build it up to make it strong and reputable, maybe give it a push to help it grow/succeed/expand, and get higher profits in the long-term. Investing is about long-term. In most cases it isn't about short, get rich quick schemes. It isn't an investor's job to run the company. They don't WANT to. They're there to give money, maybe offer advice, and use their contacts to help get the company moving. They're not there to change management, be part of day-to-day operations, or even run the company. They're there to invest. If the company isn't making enough profit I'm sure they'd give advice and make a few changes. But otherwise, they're not there to run the company. I'm sure Jagex's investors would prefer to make the company strong and help them either 1) make RuneScape even more popular or 2) give them the funds they need to help them make another extremely popular game. If they just run RuneScape into the ground for the sake of quick profits, they're running Jagex as a company into the ground (because that's their only highly popular game). It's in everyone's best interest to help Jagex make another highly successful product (and/or improve the one they have) that will then give them even more profits to play with in the future. If Jagex does manage to make another popular game, I'm sure a lot more profit could be made from that than from milking a dying game for all it's worth.

What was your first 99?
Fletching was my first in like 2005 :XD: Most recent was prayer.

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
Sure there's a chance.. but there's also a chance it will bring in a lot more profits for the company and thus help Jagex continue to grow as a company and enable them to invest more so that Jagex will grow beyond just the "one hit RuneScape." I hate microtransactions but they have proven to work (in both the short-term and long-term). People spend thousands of dollars on them, often without even realizing. Take LOTRO. It was basically dying. Then they changed their model to F2P with microtransactions and it basically saved the game because it encouraged more people to play. Take Neopets. People talk about how much they spent on microtransactions and people are shocked when they find out. They go "Holy crap I've spent $1k on them this year." etc. There's a reason that the article a few days ago was talking about how "Jagex resists temptation to use microtransactions" or whatever. Because they work. Yes the players hate the idea of them (myself included - I basically quit LOTRO when they were introduced there) but the problem is that they still use them. I mean just look at all the people here who posted "Ohmygod I hate this update! Just spent $80 on spins for fun." With one hand they criticize the update and with the other they buy right into it. And that certainly won't help us when Jagex looks at how many people are buying spins and see their names on the list. I'm sure they'll just label them as supporters of the update since they participated. Investors may not care much about the quality of the game or upholding long-standing morals/rules (like Jagex's stance on RWTing), but they do want the company to survive and continue to make profits. I do think that considering the nature of the game, Jagex needs to take a different approach. Buying XP does ruin this game. But if they stick to things like cosmetics or things that have little impact on the actual game progress, I don't think they'll destroy RuneScape.

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
Well honestly one way will be how many people are actually buying spins. Think about it on their end. If tens of thousands of people have already bought spins, to them that says that the community likes the update.

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
Investors do care about long term health. They'd rather yield a lot of profit than a little profit.

Trailers and Trolls - New RuneScape Trailer
*Cinematic* trailers (which is what this is) are not meant to be representations of gameplay. They're meant to be... cinematic :P
-
Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
That is assuming they put the money to good use... I may be being pessimistic but I feel some of these extra profits will go straight into people's pockets. Well ultimately Jagex is a company so they'll be looking more into long-term investment. Of course some money will go into peoples' pockets, but that's because people are working jobs and have to get paid. But the best way to secure Jagex as a company in the long-term would be to put the money back into the company (whether that's investing in future game projects or putting more money into RuneScape). Jagex wants to succeed and grow as a company and if they just pay themselves more and more rather than reinvesting in the company, they won't keep growing.

Graveyard?
In general, RuneScape hasn't been very PK friendly :( The warring clan/PKing community is very, very small now. As a result, it's also small on Tip.It. It was so inactive that we decided to remove it completely. General PKing discussions now take place here and screenshots can be posted in this sticky: http://forum.tip.it/topic/163183-post-all-rs-screenshots-videos-and-sounds-here/

Today...
IMO it's any kind of "more than friends" activity. And if you feel like you have to hide it from her - it's definitely cheating. For example, when your girlfriend asks what you did today you wouldn't say, "Well I went out, kissed a few girls, gave another my number and we flirted a bit, then went out for a beer with my mates." You'd want to hide the fact that you kissed and flirted with other girls. And it's some kind of physical/intimate connection that implies that you are or want to be more than friends. Put that all together and it's definitely cheating.

Trailers and Trolls - New RuneScape Trailer
I actually don't like it when games use actual game footage.. especially with RuneScape where the graphics aren't that great. I like trailers to be cinematic and have awesome graphics (like this one). Some of the other RuneScape trailers that did use the game engine tried to be all intense, but they just weren't.. because RuneScape itself isn't intense.

First/Limited Edition and Signed Books!
Nice snag on those books! I love wandering around old book stores and just having a look at what's available. Roald Dahl was a huge part of my childhood :D I loved The Witches! I agree that old books are really cool. I honestly like the look and feel of them. All of my old books are in California but I'll be posting photos of those when I go back this weekend :P I have some pretty cool old copies of Pride and Prejudice, Count of Monte Cristo, etc.

Post merging suggestion
Not much to say after the above posters, but I will say that I just tested on IE9 and the edit function worked fine for me. The "quick edit" didn't work but it did redirect me to the full editor, which works just as well. As long as the full editor is working, there is no reason to double/triple post.

Things That Make You Smile :)
When I put something in the microwave for a few minutes, leave the kitchen, come back when I think it might be done, and as I'm approaching the microwave the timer goes 3 2 1 done Like a boss.

Squeal of Fortune + Buyable Spins
None of them that I know of, unless you explicitly ask them to. The problem here is that here's how it worked: Enter in your credit card details to buy membership. The card details are not visible and there's nothing else you can buy on RuneScape so you don't worry about it. Suddenly they add a new product (which, unlike membership, can be "mass bought") and pull your credit card details and put them on their new page. Your details are automatically there and you don't have to type in ANY kind of confirmation (not even retype your security code). If I add my card to Amazon.com and ask it to remember my details, I expect that information to be remembered. I KNOW that I'm on a site for purchasing items. I KNOW what the risks are for entering my credit card information. If I add my card to RuneScape.com to buy membership, I don't expect other people to be able to charge to my credit card since all you can buy is membership.. and once it's already bought, you can't just mass buy more. But suddenly they add a new feature, pull all existing card details, and have that information automatically filled in when NO ONE said "Yes I want my card details all across the site and available for any future available purchases." Furthermore, Jagex has a HORRIBLE recovery system. People get accounts via recoveries when they have nowhere near enough information. And I have friends who have gotten hacked despite having gibberish recoveries. What other companies have huge ONGOING problems with hacking? Yes Steam and PlayStation have been hacked, but they were one time instances. Jagex has a huge, constant problem with people being hacked due to their poor recovery system.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand
I LOVED season 1 and even enjoyed the prologue season a bit. Then I watched the first episode of season 2 and I just couldn't bring myself to like it :/ I just didn't really like the new Spartacus. And in general, the episode didn't pull me in. So I haven't watched any of the episodes past that point. One of my friends said it was good though so maybe I'll try to watch the rest.
