  1. nope. While it has Java, it runs the stripped down mobile version that is almost entirley incompatible with standard Java. The same goes for other smartphones.
  2. Some free players (player mods and clan leaders come to mind) can already post on the official forums because of their status. Extending the ability to more regular people would be an interesting idea.
  3. thats not really true... goin by annoucement posts rhq wins that one as they too where contacted by jagex but that was march 11th the newspost for em was posted... i see no reason for tip it to delay theirs so im assuming rhq was first... just mater of time till i see the other large fan site that sdtarts with a z post a notice... but then again they dont do a good job on blocking rwt ads... i used to see em all the tiome till i blocked em and even then idf still see some... i contacted em several times... all i ever get in response is "we try to block em" well you dont do a good job cause tip it and rhq dont ahve that problem... heck i even got a virus once from one of zy---'s ads... so they gonna have to try harder if they want to impress jagex... congratulation tip it on being in jagex good graces... 1 small step for fansites... 1 giant leap for fansite kind! As das has already said, Tipit has been communicating with Jagex for quite awhile now (unofficially for years actually). No one bothered to mention it until now because it was not seen as being of major importance.
  4. I agree with tripsis and pryro here - it's plenty easy to just ignore the message; there is no need to completely remove all refrences to a post. I'm curious however, how many people do you have on this list? I have never used it.

    1) Do you think video games affect peoples opinion on war? To some extent, though not particularly. 2) If your country was attacked, would it make you join the army? Attacked as in interests abroad attacked? Probably not, the US is always in some conflict or another. The continental US invaded? Absolutely. Should the military not be available for whatever reason I would likley start/join a militia. 3) Do you think there will be a World War 3 in your lifetime? No. 4) What do you think you could do to prevent war? Personally? Little. Voting for politicians that play nicely with the rest of the world would be somewhat effective, although some of the most brutal wars and genocides on the planet are not under my control. 5) What do you think is the major cause of wars? Anything that makes people different, with the most powerful factor being religion. Humans by nature are suspicious and violent twords people that are different then them. 14 Years old / Male

I will direct military training on the island.
  7. Why is everyone still complaining about Dell? Of all the mainstream computer manufacturers, they are making the best computers right now - while several years ago they WERE bad, after michael dell took the company over again they are substantially better computers then HP.

On the contrary, fully automatic guns are extremely difficult to use effectively - unless you are rambo, the massive recoil of a machine gun makes it practically impossible to hit anything past 5 feet in front of you, it wastes massive amounts of ammunition, and is generally ineffective for actually killing people. The US army and Marines do not even issue regular soldiers fully automatic guns because they can't hit anything with them - only special forces units with special requirements are issued fully automatic weapons. The definition of "hunting rifle" is as arbitrary as the definition of "assault weapon" is, as well. Any large caliber weapon is an effective hunting gun (in fact, hunting weapons are generally more dangerous to humans, because they shoot larger rounds that do more damage upon contact. A 5.56 mm round (used in many "assault weapons" is designed to wound a 150 pound enemy soldier, while a 30 06 (a hunting round) is designed to cleanly kill a 400 pound moose.

Can there please be a requirement that people have first-hand experience with firearms before they speculate on the relative effectiveness differences between them? I have already said this several times, and I will say it again - anyone that is experienced in the use of a gun can effectively kill large number of people with it, be it a M134 minigun or a bolt action .22 rifle. Murder rate and gun ownership are (generally) inversely related - States with the strictest gun control laws have the highest murder and violent crime rates. For instance, California, Washington D.C. and Massachusetts have the strictest gun control laws in the country, as well as the highest crime rates. In D.C's case, after passing a law (now struck down) banning the private ownership of handguns, the murder rate almost doubled in 10 years - compared to a 20% countrywide drop in murder in the same time period. The problem with so-called "assault-weapons bans" is that they ban scary looking guns, and have nothing to do with actual characteristics that make the gun more dangerous. The last AWB (now expired) prohibited, among other things, barrel shrouds (a safety device that prevents the shooter from burning their hands), flash hiders (another safety device to protect the shooter's vision from the blinding flash of a gunshot) and bayonet lugs (no one in the US has EVER been bayoneted to death in the commission of a crime). This video shows just how insignificant the differences are between a so-called "hunting rifle" and an "assault weapon" (a term created by the gun banners)
  10. The throwing knife glitch was due to the fact that when they came out, the programmer accidentally messed up and made their bonuses stack, so instead of the range bonus being, say, +10 no matter how many knives you had equipped, it would be +20 if you had 2, +1000 if you had 100 etc. People would equip 10,000 bronze throwing knives to get +100,000 range attack bonus, which would make them hit their max every time.
  11. Edited the topic to remove the spaces and give it a descriptive title; otherwise good letter.
  12. Just curious, but why do you need to know your hard drive specifications? There is really only four different options that effect a hard drive in most cases that cannot be automatically found by just looking in my computer - HDD size (either 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch) and IDE or SATA. Size can be found by the type of computer - almost all desktops use 3.5 inch hard drives, while almost all laptops use 2.5 inch drives, and SATA/IDE can usually be determined by the age of the computer - most desktops made after 2004 or so are SATA based, while ones before that time were IDE based. Almost all laptops up until very recently (About a year now?) used IDE due to its slightly lower power consumption. Other then that, as long as you get those correct just about any part should be compatible. To find your graphics specs, just go to run and type "dxdiag", and click the graphics tab.
  13. I have been trying to get an administrator to set my rank as "banned" just to confuse people for awhile, though up to this point my attempts have been unsuccessful.

Stun guns are terrible self defense weapons. To actually be effective, you must actually touch your attacker with the probes. Aside from that, they are expensive, complicated, and unreliable, plus there is a fairly limited number of charge cycles, and if your attaacker is wearing thick clothes they are useless. You should find your facts from sources other then Call of Duty - shotguns loaded with buckshot are effective weapons out to at least 75 yards, while slugs are good farther then that. Second, a shotgun is easily the best weapon available for home defense. The fact that the shot spreads out means it is possible to hit targets without precise aiming; an extremeley useful attribute in situations where you are awoken at 2AM by someone breaking in, and you are too drowsy to effectively aim. Second, shot limits over penetration making a shotgun significantly safer to use indoors then a rifle, while still having the power necessary to quickly and effectively stop an attacker. Finally, cutting down a shotgun is NOT illegal in the US, as long as the final weapon is more then 18 inches long. If it is shorter then that you need to buy a 200 dollar tax stamp to legally own a short barreled shotgun. Guns do not, and never have caused crime. As shown all over the world, crime is a cultural problem. Destroying gangs would go much further in reducing crime then banning any object ever would, particularly since guns used in crimes are almost always illegal anyways.

Locked; just from your post it seems obvious to me you were in fact breaking the game rules regarding insulting other players. That said, if you would like, you can create a post in the sticky listed above. sticky
  16. Locked; Please do not bump ancient topics.
  17. Locked. While I will allow a reasonable discussion on emo behavior, I cannot see anything but a flame war coming from this particular thread.
  18. If half the touch screen is unresponsive, then you almost certainly have a hardware defect. Just to make sure, restore your Iphone and if that does not work call Apple and send it in - they are quite good about issuing replacements.
  19. Despite the fact that Andrew is not the CEO of the company, as the controlling shareholder he is still ultimately in control of the company. While the CEO may be in charge of day to day operations; they still have to report to the owner of the business (The Gower brothers, and Tedder assuming they haven't unloaded their stock). My guess based on Iddison's short tenure is that Jagex realized something that many rapidly expanded startups have noticed. After Being run by the founder(s) of the company that essentially established the entire business and had the vision to do something different, the transition to an outside hire career manager can be a MASSIVE cultural shock - driving the business in a completely different direction then before; for instance you could see Iddison's influence in the extremely aggressive "dumbing down" of the game to appeal to younger people. I would bet that clashes between the founders and Iddison caused his resignation based on the extremeley short period he worked for Jagex. Tedder probably just got tired of working and felt like retiring. If what I have read is correct in that he was one of the original stockholders with a 33% share, he would have more then enough money to go buy a house on a beach somewhere and just relax for the rest of his life - similar to what Paul Allen (One of the founders of Microsoft) did. He bought himself a 400 foot long yacht, and spends his days sailing around the world.
  20. To put the above people's comments into plain English - We are currently working on setting up a contest. Compared to past ones, however, the actual competition should be quite innovative, so it is taking awhile to iron out all of the kinks. It has been in the works for weeks now.
  21. I collect guns so I have 8 of them mounted throughout my room. Aside from that, not much besides a fair amount of what would be considered "fringe" political literature like Mein Kampf, The Communist Manifesto, Mao's Little Red Book (which I actually bought in Tienanmen square) etc.
  22. The KKK, Neo-Nazi groups and other various fringe groups have become much, much smaller in recent times. At one point the KKK was officially affiliated with the democratic party and had literally millions of members; Nazi groups were similarly powerful. Today both are tiny fringe groups that make a lot of noise but are unimportant. When the KKK was the standard, only free speech laws allowed the Civil Rights movement to take hold as a new, an at the time radical and fringe idea. If you continue to ban anything that isn't in line with the standard belief; you are restricting people's rights just as Stalin and Hitler did, albeit with the promoted belief being significantly more permissive then either of those two.
