Army Help
T_millard has a point - tipit is NOT a good place to ask these questions. There is several good forums around the net that exclusively deal with helping new soldiers that want to enlist, and are not as biased as the official army website is. As for going to basic, the military will pay to get you there, be it on a bus, plane or another form of transportation. For or specific advice, either ask a recruiter and find a forum that specializes in this kind of thing. To that end I only have one piece of advice - Make sure the job you want is written into your contract! In the military jobs like IT specialists are generally well stocked and not in need of more people, while jobs like infantry have a chronic shortage of people. If you don't get the job you want written into your contract, the military has no obligation to put you in that job, so you go where you are needed most; which is usually infantry or another undesirable (for most people) job.

Need help installing XP on pre-installed Vista computer!
Just wondering, why do you want to install XP? Besides that, the first rule of installing multiple MS operating systems is "Always install the older operating system first!". If you try to install the newer one then later the older one, you will usually have all sorts of problems.

Corrupt TIF CC?..

Stress Relief?
I tend to grab one of my guns and just go out in my back yard to put lots of holes in random things I have laying around, be it old cans, fruit, the occasional chipped plate or a host of other things. By the time I'm done blasting things apart I am usually quite a bit calmer.

My new computer :D
Not a particularly good buy. First off, that cooling system is not needed. A standard heatsink fan is more then enough, even if you are overclocking - the core 2 series of processors produce such little heat that the only overclocks that would require liquid cooling also need voltage increases too high to be practical. Since you yourself admitted you know nothing about computers, I doubt you are planning on overclocking which makes that water setup wasted money. Aside from that, cooling systems also are rather high maintenance, and you need to continuously check and maintain it or it will fail. Second is the video cards. As Jodastudd mentioned, those video cards are not compatible with that particular motherboard in a SLI configuration - which means unless you are planning on using 4 or more monitors with the computer the second video is just a waste of money. Aside from that currently the ATI 4870 series is much faster then the comparable Nvidia series cards. It would be both cheaper and significantly faster in your case to go with a 4870/4870X2. Third, you need more memory as well as DDR2 rather then DDR3. At the moment unless you are planning on spending 3000+ dollars on a computer, DDR2 is better. Particularly with the cheap DDR3 you have equipped there, a 4 or 8 GB set of good DDR2 would run faster and be significantly cheaper. At this time 2GB is getting too low. Fourth, you are looking for windows vista home premium 64 bit with service pack 1 - not windows XP. Fifth, this sentence: "# PRO_WIRING: Professional Wiring for All WIRINGs Inside The System Chasis with High Performance Thermal Compound on CPU" reminded me of something I read on the Ibuypower/Cyberpower website. While I don't actually know where you plan on buying this computer, if it is either one of those (or a number of others) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY FROM THEM. Both are well known for horrible support, refusing to honor warranties, shipping systems with incorrect parts and refusing to fix them as well as a large number of other things. If this is from their website, then don't buy it. Finally, the case is ugly :)

Row Row Row Fight The Powah?
As pryromancer said, this is not the place for 4chan related questions. Go to another board there and ask a question if you need answers to 4chan related things - tipit is not 4chan.

Choosing a new motherboard
Several things: First: I hope you do not intend to run any games, since with an integrated 8200 nothing but old games will run. Just because it starts with an 8- means little. The 8200 is not made for gaming whatsoever, and you will not be able to play anything but older games on lower settings with it. Second: That memory is both overpriced and older tech. There is not reason to buy 1 GB sticks at this time - its more expensive, slower and older then the newer 2 GB density sticks, and it will limit upgrading your RAM in the future. This memory will work much better. Third: At this time there is no reason to buy an AMD processor for the desktop segment. Intel's offerings are cheaper, faster and newer then AMD's, particularly if you decide to overclock the processor. If you do decide to do so (which takes about 30 seconds) you have an instant 40% speed boost - on a chip that's already 20% faster then the one you picked out. This processor and This motherboard together are a better buy - they are quite a bit faster then what you posted. Notice this is an Intel chipset based motherboard - Intel chipsets are faster and more stable then Nvidia based ones. The only reason to buy an Nvidia board is if you plan on adding a second graphics card to the computer for SLI. Since this is obviously a build on a tight budget, I doubt you will be going down the SLI road. Fourth: YOU NEED A NEW PSU AND CASE!!!! I cannot stress this enough. The power supply and case you have right now WILL NOT WORK with these new parts - the CPU connector required for this board is a newer standard then what is on your power supply, and if you try plugging it in the system will not boot up. Additionally, the case you have will not fit the motherboard - the screws are tapped in different places, it just won't fit. Next, due to Windows licensing requirements, replacing the motherboard is considered to be the same thing as getting a completely new computer. If you want to keep your license legal, you will need to buy a new copy of Windows and finally your CD and hard drives will probably not work unless you have a very small number of them - there is not enough IDE channels on new motherboards to support a completely IDE based drive setup.

Buying a New Desktop, STILL Need Advice
Dell XPS systems are top quality. Even dell's highest end XPS H2C computers are still not as powerful as a well built home built computer. The cheapest computer they have that uses exclusively branded components starts at about 3,000$, and even then I have heard complaints about them using pared down versions of hardware without telling their customers about it (the sound cards in particular). If it is not one of their ultra high end computers, in their desktops they tend to use cheap no name components that while they run fine with the hardware supplied, there is no room for upgrades. Their laptops are better then most however. And free steel, would you be willing to build a computer? If you are I could put a parts list together. You would get quite a bit more for your money that way.

Installing RAM in your Computer? (Oh no, see new topic!)
installing RAM is easy. As everyone has said, just ground yourself by touching a metal piece of the case before installing it and as long as your motherboard supports it you will be fine. It should not take more then a minute or two to complete the entire operation.

Seagate or WD?
you had a raptor in your laptop? What? Only one of the new velociraptors will even fit in a laptop, and even then they are not designed to be used in laptops. To answer the OP's question, as everyone else has said just pick one. Their reliability figures are so similar it is negligible.

Choosing a new motherboard
eggzs is right. A motherboard replacement usually means a totally new computer. Aside from the motherboard you will definitely need a new processor, new memory and a new graphics card and probably a new power supply, case and drives (the PSU because of connector differences, the case because dell's cases are generally not standard ATX sized and the drives because many new motherboards only have 1 or 2 IDE channels, if any at all). Between those components, you have an entirely new computer.

Mass-Pming Update:3.0.3 includes all the features speculated
Yep, dasavi is right. Even the moderators (and administrators, as far as I know) are limited to one recipient per PM. I remember setting up some private forums here on tipit, and I had to send out 100+ invites. It was rather annoying. It seems like it would make sense to allow more, but as pryromancer said it would just encourage spambots.

Your mobile devices?
Easily an Ipod touch (or an Iphone if you can get the plan in order). They were both made for that kind of thing, and the web browser miles ahead of the PSP or any other device out there. The screen is great for movies, and music playback is like an Ipod..... that is the best there is. If you go for the iphone you can go on the internet anywhere in the country, rather then just in wifi zones as is the case with the ipod touch.

Windows OS:which one is best
Yep, 64 bit vista home premium is your best bet. If you want any significant amount of RAM you will need a 64 bit OS, and as clare said XP 64 bit is a true nightmare, since it was never intended to be a regular consumer desktop OS.

Laptop advice
That is only a fairly minor upgrade, if at all. For that price however, you are not going to do a whole lot better. If I were you I would just clean up your current computer and use it for another year or so until the new core i7 mobile processors come out.
