  1. assuming you are on windows XP, when the box pops up that asks for the password (that is already filled in) instead of leaving it, CHANGE the input. AKA just type something random into the box and hit ok. The computer should tell you that was the wrong password, and ask you if you want to configure the connection. Just input gibberish throughout all the stages and the password shouldn't be remembered anymore (or rather an incorrect one will be remembered).
  2. That depends on the individual. As I type this, I have 4 guns within 5 feet of me, and yet I feel perfectly fine. If you are a person that believes that inanimate objects are somehow directly responsible for killing people, then yes, I can see having a gun sitting in closet somewhere could be discomforting. But in areas like where this school district is where the police are too far away to help in the event of a school shooting, having staff members trained and equipped to deal with such a situation is the next best thing. I can guarantee you that this school will never have a school shooting, and if by some strange freak occurrence it does, it will be stopped quickly by these armed teachers. The problem with tasers has been shown with police. Because they are supposedly nonlethal, the police are more willing to use them on unruly suspects when they shouldn't be used. Even though they don't generally kill people they are still very dangerous, so we get a fair number of people killed with them. With a gun, it would never be used in any but the most extreme situations because the people using them (in this case the teachers) know that they are deadly weapons.
  3. Locked. Please use this thread in the music, movies and television subforum.
  4. Honestly, this proposal makes sense to me. If you read the article, it details just how much training a teacher has to get to get the necessary permit for carrying a gun, and you have to figure that no more then one or two, very, very well vetted teachers will have the permits. Aside from that, those teachers will be required to keep the fact that they have the permits confidential. Aside from having a police officer on duty at a school at all times, (which is impractical or unnecessary for smaller, or relatively peaceful suburban schools) this seems to be the next best thing. As the saying goes, "why should you carry a gun?.............because a whole cop is too heavy."
  5. locked on request.
  6. I generally take a laptop and a good pair of noise - canceling headphones and either read an ebook or watch a movie if i'm on a commercial flight. If I'm riding on a private plane, I generally go up and sit in the cockpit and talk to the pilot or eat snacks.
  7. This does not actually surprise me that much. Russia seems to be moving back to the old Soviet way of goverment, albeit with ridiculously wealthy, corrupt oligarch politicians instead of a basis in communism.
  8. Again, locked. DO NOT BUMP OLD TOPICS!

Again, please don't bump old topics.
  10. Locked. As Jackattack said, please do not bump old topics.
  11. Locked - beside having no discussion value, this topic is just drawing pointless replies.
  12. what country do you live in? Your location can change things quite a bit, since in some places parts are MUCH more expensive then in others.
  13. The rest of the world reverses things. There, the "left" is conservative and the "right" is liberal, instead of the other way around. Personally, I don't affiliate myself with any one political party, but I generally lean towards the republicans. While I don't agree with their gay rights or abortion rights points, I like their policies on lowering taxes and cutting generally useless socialist programs, spending more money on science and the military and opposing gun control.
  14. The first has been discussed and declined for regular users. If I remember right it was decided that allowing regular people to turn the censor off would make it useless. The second idea, however, is a good idea.
  15. locked. Please use the topics already existing to discuss this.
  16. This is great! Ill be using it. On a side note, I just stuck this thread. People should see this.
  17. What are you talking about? The federal reserve bank is owned and payed for by the goverment, and thus the citizens of the United States. The money it distributes is backed up by the stability and creditworthiness of the country. That said, you do seem to have a problem there. At my school, people were mad about constantly rising prices so everyone refused to buy lunch, for about 6 months. We would on random, set days all go up and try to buy lunch so they would have to call and get pizza for everyone (which was expensive, since on those days they got used to serving ~20 lunches a day instead of 700) then on the next day buying nothing, so they would prepare 700 lunches and most of it would be wasted. After about 6 months they caved and lowered prices. If I were you I would organize protest where EVERYONE brings in lots and lots of junk food (AKA 12 doughnuts, 20 packs of M&M's, lots of Cheetos etc) and eats it ALL. They may be able to suspend 1 or 2 people, but you can't suspend hundreds of people.
  18. The properly working missile shield is only able to intercept, at most, 30 or so missiles at once. Even then, its only effective against relatively primitive ICBM's. The Russians not only have tens of thousands of working missiles, but their missiles have advanced countermeasures onboard (Decoys, chaff and flare launchers, systems that randomly change the MIRV's trajectory to throw off interceptors etc.) that can easily avoid the interceptor system. Russia is just unhappy because their former satellite states are being absorbed into NATO and gaining close ties with the west, diminishing their power on a global scale.
  19. Georgia has been perusing close relations with the US and NATO for awhile now. The US likes them because they are a progressive democracy, and Georgia has been pushing to get into NATO for awhile, with the United States' support. Had Georgia made it into NATO when they were attacked by Russia (they were in the process of applying for membership), most of Europe, the US, Canada, Turkey and several other countries would have automatically declared war on Russia.
  20. I was also thinking this was also to protect the oil that is around there. the oil coming from Russia that passes through Georgia does not pass through the airports or seaports. It is sent from Russia over pipelines to Europe. Aside from that, the US gets none of it's oil from Russia. All that oil goes directly to western Europe.
  21. It depends entirely on how fast the staff feels like casting their votes.
  22. Actually many of the people that post stupid questions on yahoo answers are intentionally trying to act stupid to get funny responses. Still, some people are actually serious, which really scares me.
  23. If i was stranded on a deserted island beach, i would bring these 3 items along: A satellite phone A GPS receiver and a blanket to tan myself on while I wait for the coast guard helicopter to come pick me up. If i was going on an airplane trip, i would bring these 3 items along: My smaller laptop computer A satellite phone and depending how dangerous the destination was, either a gun or a credit card.
  24. This is a very interesting discovery. Like the others, I would love to have an invisibility cloak, but for now that's probably only in the realm of science fiction (or possibly the NSA/CIA, I wouldn't bet against them having just about anything.)
  25. no, runescape does not use any of that. Depending on the country you live in, in both most of Europe and the US it is illegal for ISP's to monitor your connection, so while they may warn you not to do it you can just threaten to sue them and they can do nothing about it. If by your location you mean Capetown South Africa, however you will need to check your local laws as I don't know much about laws in Africa.
