Tbfgraphx14, you obviously went on the wrong day. I live about 45 minutes from ceder point, and I go there several times a year. We go there is never more then a ~15 minute line for any particular ride, even the huge ones like the top thrill dragster. In general, I have always liked roller coasters. Living so near to the best park in the world for that has been convenient, but it kinda spoils it when you go to any other parks. I have visited several other theme parks and it's just boring in comparison.
  3. again, they are entirely for professional uses. Unless SERG_Troy plans on using these monitors to display a MRI output, a targeting station on a surface to air missile battery or a control room for a nuclear power plant, a custom built graphics solution is not for him.
  4. If I remember correctly ever since the move to PHPBB3, the search feature has been broken. Any older posts made before the switch have not been indexed (so they can be searched) and there is no easy solution to index them. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to fix it.
  5. Yes, you will need a new graphics card to hook up two monitors to your computer. To install one basically all you have to do is open up the computer and plug in the graphics card board into a slot on the motherboard, then plug the monitors in. If you could post the make and model of your computer as well as what country you are from (for pricing considerations), I could point you in the right direction for a card you could buy. Expect the graphics card to cost between 50 and 125 dollars. And oldjoe, Matrox is just like every other graphics card manufacturer, they do not specialize in supporting multiple monitors. They work specifically with embedded solutions.
  6. It seems like it would make sense to me. Seeing as history has shown that banning things, from alcohol to gambling to guns and drugs has constantly done nothing to curb crime and other undesirable behavior lowering the drinking age would do nothing but ease up on the workload of police. I know for a fact that just about all collage students, weather they are 21 or not, drink on a regular basis so it would make sense.
  7. It depends on the particular computer's specifications, but in general it's not a bad idea. Unlike cars or other items that wear out over time, in a computer there is generally only a handful of moving parts. Aside from the hard drive and fans, nothing moves, so there should be no wear over time whatsoever. As long as there was no manufacturing defects (if there was even that same new computer would still have problems) average computer parts have a design lifespan of about 20 years. Buying a used one should not change that.
  8. Real IQ tests are almost exclusively logic based questions that you don't need specific knowledge to answer (not things like "how many miles is the earth from the sun?") but rather questions where you are timed in doing a particular task, like putting a stack of cards in order. I remember I took an IQ test years ago back in about 3rd grade and a good portion of it consisted of me putting groups of cards with pictures on them in the order I thought they should go in (they all looked something like this but with no pictures, and a clear order they should go in IE one picture is of a guy in a dump truck, the next with the dump truck emptying its bed and the last with the truck driving off) while the person testing me timed how long it took to complete the tasks with a stopwatch. That said, if you really did score that high on an IQ test, feel free to join Mensa. I am a member, and so far it has done nothing useful for me exempt sending me a neat little membership card. Supposedly they can help you do other things as well, but I have not participated in any of it.
  9. While I can't speak to the situation in Australia, I can say that in the US military experience is one of the biggest pluses someone in a trade can have when applying for a job. My parents own a business that employs a fair number of electricians, computer technicians and other related jobs and when they look to hire people, the only single thing better then military experience is having a collage degree in something like electrical or computer engineering. In our experience ex military people tend to work harder, listen better and are much more productive then guys out of a regular trade school. Again, it may be different in Australia, but I know we give great preference to military people. And Kaphias, yes, being a military pilot virtually guarantees you a good civilian job as an airline pilot. Besides getting a lot of hours fairly quickly, the pay is better then working at a small regional airline or teaching at a flight school and flying an F-22 is MUCH more fun then doing either.
  10. this wasn't even in IRC. It all occurred in the secret tipit staff command center.
  11. Locked. As tripsis said, please use that form or PM an administrator to deal with account problems.
  12. he made it to level 2 bat fighting, so at least 83 EXP I suppose.
  13. EDIT: Fedorca, you seem to have beat me to the move.
  14. I'm a student, but I make a bit of money through my hobby of making hand blown art glass. Its fun to make, and people will pay unbelievable amounts of money for a pretty bowl (though I can't consistently sell stuff).
  15. First of all, get rid of all that AOL software on your computer and get rid of Limewire. AOL software is horrible for being useless and slowing down your computer, and it's notoriously difficult to get rid of. Delete it and your computer will run a bit faster. If you need an AIM client, use something like trillian or pidgin. Limewire is again a very bad program to download anything with - the entire network has tons and tons of viruses all over the place. If you need to download things, get a good bittorrent download manager and find a reputable tracker. There is not nearly as many viruses around that way. As to the trojan, if you didn't put any credit card numbers or other potentially dangerous information onto the computer when it was infected, then it is unlikely you have to worry. There is the odd virus here and there that can actually harvest numbers and things from files on your hard drive, but they are comparatively pretty rare - most are essentially keyloggers.

So its basically a kind of lobotomy, as I thought. Surely that would be too expensive for anyone to bother with and it could do more harm than any drug could. Its not any kind of surgical procedure. Basically since some drugs work by doing things like overloading dopamine receptors in the brain, and causing those receptors to become dependent on the drug, the injection decreases the receptor's sensitivity to the drug so it both does not work as well, and is less addictive.
  17. It would make sense to remove just the global moderators and administrators from the lists of moderators on each page. Back when those people were local moderators, they needed to be listed (since they couldnt mod all forums) but since global moderators and administrators can moderate all of the forums, you could probably take their names off and just leave the local moderators of a forum, and list administrators and global moderators as a group. It would say the same thing, and clean up the list a bit.
  18. download ad-aware SE personal (again if you were having problems updating), Spybot, search and destroy, as well as Avast! antivirus. All are free, and links to download all of them are available in the stickies at the top of this forum. Update all of them and run scans with all of them. While i'm pretty sure that encyclopedia dramatica does not have adware on their site, it might. Run the scans and see what happens, your problem sounds like some form of adware.
  19. I believe several years ago my parents attempted to put controls on my internet usage, but every system out there can be bypassed so easily that it's almost pointless to have it on there. The school controls do annoy me, however, so I regularly circumvent them so I can read the news while i'm bored. (the system blocks anything with the word "game" in it, which includes lots of computer news)
  20. getting an OS disk should be simple. Just call Dell with your computer's serial number and they should send you free OS disk if you ask them. They are required to do this as a term of their OEM license with Mircosoft so even if the computer is out of warranty they should provide it.
  21. yes, and it is very, very easy to do. Since its an older computer, most likley you will have an IDE interface. Open up the computer case and look at the cable connecting the motherboard (the big green board in the center of the case) to the hard drive (it should be in a rack on the upper right of the case, mounted just below the CD drive(s)). If the cable connecting it is a long, wide gray cable that looks like a ribbon, then it's an IDE drive, if it's a small, square red cable, its a SATA drive. Either way, a replacement can be had for anywhere from 50$ to 150$, depending on the capasity you want. If you live in the US I strongly recommend buying the drive off of newegg.com. Not only are the prices significantly less then what you would find at a store, but they are renowned for good customer service. As long as you get the right drive for the connection standard your computer uses (IDE or SATA) just about any drive you buy should be 100% compatible with your computer. The only other thing you have to worry about is the size of the drive - make sure you buy a 3.5 inch drive, not a 2.5 or 1.8. the 3.5 inch standard is desktop hard drives. The smaller two sizes are for laptops and high end servers and their connectors will not work with a desktop without an adapter. this is a 500GB IDE drive that should work perfectly with your computer. It costs 80$. Drive installation itself is easy. Just pull the old drive out of the computer (on old dells there should be green plastic rails holding the drive in), unscrew the rails off the old drive and screw them into the pretapped holes on the new drive. Then slide it into the slot where the old drive was and reconnect the IDE cable. Boot the computer up and Presto! You have a working computer.
  22. As said above, this belongs in help and advice. I have moved it there, you should get more help.
  23. Locked. As theoknight mentioned, law running is essentially dead since the trade updates. If you are advertising a new clan relating to law running, please use the clan recruitment forums.
  24. Locked. As said above, this has been posted several times before. If you wish to discuss this development use those threads.
