Crystal saw, tea, and a special stew will take care of that. I got my KQ head mounted at 70 construction, and my big shark too. (I think you need 78)

Your theory is all nice and dandy, but GWD and 3A has been out for quite some time now. If the introducement of very expensive items would be the cause of the decrease in rare prices, we would have seen that earlier. Fact is, the decrease in rares has lead to people realising that it's time to have fun with their money. Whereas before, people would buy a phat as soon as they'd have the money - "it's going up all the time, better buy before it's up another 10m" - , people are now buying godswords and other, actually useful items. The faith in the ever rising rare is gone.

Just look around man. Go to the archive of Wisdom. Tons of guides there. Do some effort. -
Hi, I'm bedman and I've been members untill somewhere in July. I got kind of bored of runescape and decided to take a break. I sold most my stuff, bought a phat and declined my membership. Then - this is what matters - I gave some items I still had left, to my friend. They are: A robin hat (from my own clue, I just love it), ranger boots, and ininity boots (gained myself, Just like the robin, I love 'em). I said: "Here, keep those, make use of them, and when I ever decided to play again, give them back please :-)". Now you can guess what's coming. I just decided to start playing again and am planning to get members. Is there anyway to retrieve those items safely? I heard there are some ways to do i through bounty hunter? Those are one of my favourite items :wall: If anyone knows, could you please let me know through PM. I dont think it's a good idea to openly talk about ways to circumvene (or how do you spell that word again :D ) the trade limits. To any mods: If this is a bridge to far for you guys, delete it rightaway. I am aware that it's not how it should be, so I'd totally understand it. However, I hope you understand that this is a one time thing and that I'll hopefully never have to do it again.

Somewhere, Jagex said they'd leave the prices of new items to the players. Or at least give it some more freedom. Can't remember exactly what it was. Anyway, they won't be using the "normal" way. And not really on topic: I think we've had it with weapons and armour for some time. I can't really see ways to introduce even better gear without neglecting the previous sets. Rune is already so useless for members. Dragon now too. I think it's time to focus on fixing some old stuff. There are *plenty* of things that need a fix

I dont like generalizations either. However, I dont think there are still a lot of people left whose rare has sentimental value to them. Must be a minority I got a partyhat and I like it. Yes it's useless, but what else should I buy on f2p? I dont like buying skills so that one is out (+ if I'd spend 200m on a skill, I'd be busy for quite some time, and I'm not playing often anymore at all). Also, I think it's someting cool to own/wear, because not everyone can own/wear it. It makes you kind of "unique" 8-) Btw, santa's are going up again buddies. At least from what I just saw on the rare forum. "Buying santa max price" etc..

Nope sorry :? When did you join/leave?

Erm, merchanting has just been lifted to another lvl... People are making millions a day. Without doing any effort. So please dont talk about merchanting as if it's not existing anymore. What DOESNT exist anymore is "instant rich". Well, you could get lucky and get a armadyl hilt. But still, you cant win 2B with staking like you could once before. And about farming: I actually LOVE that skill. At least a bit different
-
Maybe there's some high lvl thing that they don't want anybody to have a monopoly on. (Like abbyssal whip when it first came out. The first slayers of those beasties made up to one bill. Which was ALOT by then, and - by the way - caused the rares to explode). When the bigger beasts come out next month, quite a few people might be already lvl 90+ so they'll have to "share" the profits.
-
There was a guy who had 500 santa's. Not even a famous merchant or anything. He bought them when they were 100-150k each. Not playing anymore though.
-
It's real. I've read it some time ago, and did invest in some maples. They did get up a few gp. 3 weeks ago or so, they were 44-46 each, now 46-52 (yesterday 48-54). I did make nice 10m or so by selling and reselling. Somehow it was possible to buy at lowest (say 44 each) and sell at highest (48 each at some point). If you buy a million maples and resell a million, that's a nice 4m profit overnight. :-).

Yeah, because one more questpoint will add so much to the cash you can trade

I know someone who made over 1.2 Billion because of this... (Magekillr anyone?)

It's *already* better in my opinion. The first and foremost reason being that there is much, much less abusive behavior. Coincidence or not, since the PKing update I can walk around a bank or other similarly crowded area without being greeted by a chorus of "I pwn u nub" or "my main is lvl 127 with 18 blue phats". Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that all PKers are rude, abusive, and use bad grammar. It's just that I've noticed a lot less of this in the past month, and I'm far from the only person who feels this way. Also, with the PKing update, Abyss RCing just got a lot better. I've always found the Abyss itself fun and never minded the dangers associated with it, but having to change world every 5 minutes to avoid PKers was just ridiculous. I realize that it was in the Wilderness to add an element of danger, and with Revenants that is still there. I guess the same can be said of any sort of skilling in the Wilderness now, and those who wish to kill other players are forced to go against others with similar intentions. The Grand Exchange, though it needs a bit of tweaking, is also wonderful. Lets face it, selling and buying things has always been a hassle. Either you had to deal with getting into w2 or arrange a meeting over the forums, and half the time you would run into someone trying to rip you off or who didn't actually read your post. With the exchange, you know exactly what you are getting and exactly what it is worth. No questions. No wasting you time on people who can't read. Nobody trying to rip you off or talk you into making a trade that you just don't want to. Yes, these recent updates are not without a negative impact. I did sell things cheaply to friends, but they usuually did the same for me, so I suppose it all works out in the end. The biggest disappointment, however, is monster hunting. It's just not as attractive to go with a group now that you can't split the drops. They said they were looking into a solution for that though, and I'm willing to give them some time before it truly irks me. 1) You are greatly exaggerating. First of all, no one has ever bragged to me his main has 17 phats. Second of all, there are still a lot of stupid people left. Just go look on the forum. Or go to a f2p world. Mostly, the annoying people are newbs (in the bad sense of the word). If you go in a f2p world, try to get a chat with one of the main people there. A lvl 43 with addy legs, mith plate and a steel large (stereotyping). Then try to chat with one of the pkers in their full black gold. The chat with the pker will be a lot nicer, trust me. 2) If you have to log out for rc pkers, YOU are ridiculous. Ask any experienced rc'er and they will tell you the rc pkers are (were)a laugh. 3) ... exactly what Jagex says it's worth. Why is nobody buying my red phat then? Even at the minimum price. Or my yew longs, also at the minimum price? You've got to face jagex has gotten from a multiplayer game to a single player game. * You can't see with whoever you are trading (in the GE, the only way of buying things efficiently from now on). * You can't fight other players on a normal way. (Yeej, BH). * Group monster hunting? Woot, a Sara hilt, 4 more to go for our other team mates, if we are lucky and player X doesnt get 2. => Monkeyboojo or something has explained the last party much better than me. It's on page 2.

Yes, but one quest won't really make the difference. If they'd really want to make a difference, they'd have to add 20 + quests. And they won't do that. Case closed.

An Inconvenient Truth: High Alching Yew Longs Gone?
bedman replied to Gwasha's topic in General Discussion
WHAAAT? You can only buy in 100's? That would be outrageous. I thought this way a "free" game. -
If you say merchanting is doomed after the 3k update, then you are an idiot. People are making insane amounts of money by using the grand exchange. Though, some of these are also because of Jagex's mistakes (putting prices wrong, or flaws in the "adaption system". ) I think he talked about rare merchanting, which I have to agree on, as most merchants are now making insane profits trading normal materials and such, rather than trading rares. Merchants will probably place less focus on rares (they already do) and the limitation of only being able to have 6 outstanding orders at a time forces them to make decisions on which items these orders will be about. Thus liquidity of rares is likely to fall a bit, which generally has negative impact on its price. On the other side, it is very likely that the extreme profits merchants now make from trading other items will be invested in rares at some point, which will probably cause rares to bounce back up. Again, it remains difficult to predict this with confidence as this assumes the Adaptive Pricing System, etc will work appropriately, something I have to place huge question marks on. Oh, my bad

Though, some of these are also because of Jagex's mistakes (putting prices wrong, or flaws in the "adaption system". ) Take ashes for instance: people who bould a few mill of them in the beginning (they were like 5 each) see their wealth more than quintuppled. Or I heard someone who sold lots of addy squares in the beginning, which were 20k each because of the high demand (clues). But once the market is more stable and prices are 'right', this wont be able to happen anymore. So yes, lucky deals are over. However, you can still buy TONS of, lets say, pure ess at # gp and sell them for # + 2 gp. Can still make you millions. But obviously, you didnt realise this.

An Inconvenient Truth: High Alching Yew Longs Gone?
bedman replied to Gwasha's topic in General Discussion
I'm with you on this one! I didn't get my fletching up to 70+ just because it looks cool. (well, ok not the ONLY reason). With 75 fletching and 60 woodcutting, your only cost is the nature runes. high alching yew longs is still my #1 moneymaker....with crafting blue hides a close second. ...now that I think about, I should get back to making greenhide sets, since jagex foo-barred up the wildy. Learn to reason my friend. Crafting the hides is NOT making you the money. Collecting the hides is. Alching the longs is NOT making the money. Cutting your own yews is. thank you -
An Inconvenient Truth: High Alching Yew Longs Gone?
bedman replied to Gwasha's topic in General Discussion
I gained 80 mil getting 99 magic by alching! I mined the essence, made the nats. 180k of it all. Bought the logs and the flax. If you would have sold the nats and yew longs seperate, you would have made much more mills. Or if you just would have sold your nats and crafted bow strings. Lets see: 1) mine 180k ess: Roughly 18m profit 2) turn 180k ess into 180k nats. Roughly 36m profit. 3) turn 180k flax into 180k bow strings. Roughly 18m profit. 4) turn 180k yew logs and 180k bowstring into 180k yew longs. Roughly 18m profit. Together: 90m profit. More than 80 huh. (Btw, I think you 80m is off. Its probably less). Now lets see: you alch the longs you could have sold at 600 each, using nats you could have sold at 300 each. This way you loose a potential 138gp (or whatever 900 - alch price of yew longs is) per yew long. You didnt make the money by alching. You made the money by gathering your own ess, craft them yourself, stringing your own bow strings, and making your own longs. NOT by alching. Conclusion: what you (and many others) are saying is total bias. (for instance: someone says he makes profit by smithing rune, cause he mines his own ore. The ore mining is making him profit, not the smithing. The smithing is REDUCING his profit). -
Very nice. Ive actually never killed a red dragon before

Why are you so afraid of revenants?

Why are you so afraid of revenants?
bedman replied to Artificial_Doom_Flavor's topic in General Discussion
Fighting them has to be worthless. Think about it. If they had great drops, well-prepared people would be fighting them all the time, thereby preventing them from attacking rune miners and treasure trail hunters, and thus destroying the goal of making the wilderness dangerous. Hmm... but lvl three miners didn't have to worry about PKers; their level may have been too low for an attack. The revenants don't bother with your level. Yeah, I just figured out it still works like the "old" wilderness. I tried to attack a revenant goblin, but couldn't. Anyway, i went out IN F2P with full equipment to hunt one of those down. I was wearing full green dhide rune full helmet addy arrows maple short addy arrows 85 ranged 80 def 71 pray I first (after walking in the wild for about 15 min) encountered a lvl 68 vampire. Killed it quite easily, however i did eat 9 tunas in the run. It hits up to 20 I think. Off to the big work, after another 15 min i encounter a lvl 105 orc (I'm lvl 105 too). This one is harder. I try to pray, but i dont know if it has any effect (using range pray and attacking from a distance = forcing him to use mage, which is ineffective against my dhide? (is this correct, do they adapt? NEED CONFIRMATION on that one). Anyway, he hits up to 25. Not THAT often though. I thought I'd get owned a lot faster. Sometimes he doesn't even seem to be attacking me (is he eating?). His amount of hitpoints is impressive, even when he doesnt heal. His defence seems on the low end. I hit much more often on these guys, then on a lvl 105 in full rune. In the end I run out of tunas/swordies. However, at that point he wasn't healing anymore, and was rebarred. So I guess it just was really close. If I would have had full invo of food, I think I would have had him. CONCLUSION: These guys actually are like real pkers. (in terms of overal strength). Their combat lvl represent their real strength (for a f2per). What I mean is: if you encounter one of the same combat lvl, you will have a though fight, just like if you'd encounter a pker of the same lvl. The strategy is different of course (they dont start off with dds specs etc...). For f2p, they also hit higher (or at least more frequent) than a real pker would. On the other end, you will also hit them more often. (their defence is quite low). There are of course a lot more differences. A few of the obvious ones: *no loot (important, normally if you'd KO someone, you'd get a fresh supply of food. With these guys, forget that. Kill one strong one, and you'll have to restock to kill another one). *no trash talk ... NOTE: For p2p'ers is it a bit different. Seeing as how I almost beat my opponent of the same lvl in f2p, I think p2p'ers shouldnt have too much problems, providing they bring the right (best) gear. -
Why are you so afraid of revenants?
bedman replied to Artificial_Doom_Flavor's topic in General Discussion
Haha, another thing that's "ruined". All those guys making special "rune mining" acounts (lvl 3 so no/not much pkers can attack them) are useless. These revenants can attack anyone. \ I'd be quite mad if i had such an account  -
What does it mean to be a top/best RS player?
bedman replied to Central_Keeper's topic in General Discussion
"Who cares" ?!! 2,777 total is an amazing achievement. Most people who criticise Zezima are jealous. slayerbelle/villandra/villaninja is the best player in my opionion. First player to 99 untrimmed slayer, 2277 cb, and lowest cb with 85 slayer respectively is very impressive in my eyes Actually, that was only n0valyfe lol, thats how he got 2178 total in 3 years. it took zezima around 5 years. Zezima and pretty much all the others started in 2001/2002 Do you mean slayerbelle, villandra, and villaninja are one and the same person? That's quite impressive yet. But what does it actually show? That you have a lot of time and patience/persistence. Skill? Hardly, but hey, everyone knows that.
